Amazon assigned this company to pick our products up. We clearly mentioned that we require a lift gate, yet they sent a truck without it so they had to reschedule. It has been 6 days and they're still not here. Their excuse has either been "no truck near by" or "too far from the trucks route". - completely bull when you're already late as f. We have more pallets going out but no space to put them unless these ones are taken away, making this whole thing extra annoying. Additionally, they don't voluntarily call you to let you know that the truck wasn't coming. Completely useless, not sure why Amazon would still want to work with them. I used uShip to arrange for a cross-country delivery, but as is often the case, the company I signed with subcontracted an LTL carrier that happened to be in the area where my pallet was located. Eventually, my shipment wound up being delivered to the Hayward location of Central Transport. After reading all the negative reviews, I was nervous that my item may have been damaged, lost, or that I would be treated horribly when going to retrieve it. Nothing could be further from the truth. I arrived on a Friday afternoon about an hour before they closed, and both men at the front counter couldn't have been more friendly and efficient. After signing the paperwork, I was instructed to pull up to the building, and after a few minutes a forklift arrived with my pallet. He waited while I measured the opening of our SUV, loaded it with precision and care, and I was leaving 20 minutes after I'd arrived. I realize each shipment is different in size, complexity, etc. Still, given the fact I didn't choose this carrier, I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated. I don't do this kind of shipping very often.. but if I ever wind up with a choice of carrier, I wouldn't hesitate to use the Hayward location again as my freight terminal of choice. I am someone who hates Yelp but I made an account just to write this review. Central Transport is a mediocre carrier with awful customer service. They provided a quote for 1 pallet with 2-day transit from LA to Bay Area. We are now over a week out from pickup when the lane itself only takes 5.5hrs to drive. Every time I call the terminal, they claim the pallet is being assigned to a driver and will be out for delivery. Then the tracking updates for delivery the following day. This has happened 3 times now so all trust has been lost. There is no transparency or accountability at this company. Don't be fooled by their competitive rates- they are not worth it. And in case you thought the other reviews on this page were dated, they are not! Use XPO or literally any other carrier for your freight needs. read more

Too bad it's not possible to give zero stars. We shipped a pallet of seven 5-gallon pails to a customer from FL to CA. The quoted transit time was 5 business days. It actually took 13 business days for the order to arrive & only three of the seven 5-gallon pails were delivered. We've already shipped out four 5-gallon pails at no charge & covered the additional shipping charges for the replacement pails as well. We're a month into the claim process & we're not getting anywhere. This fiasco has cost us $1,087.01 for Central Transport's negligence. We will never use them again. Bottom of the Barrel of all LTL carriers. Damage to pallets is common. Now they have taken to bait and switch pricing. They quote a low rate and then lie and try and reclass your freight to charge you more afterwards. Unfortunately for them we document everything at both the ship point and at receiving. The first was lost, the second had a forklift ran through it, and the third has had its delivery date extended 6 times. The drivers don't call, or even knock, just drop it and run. The employee asked if I had one in my house.... 2nd try, no call no show...paid my contractor to stay and wait for pick up. I called the company and they said they cannot call and let me know if they're not showing up. 3rd attempt, no call no show, called the company and said they forgot to bring a forklift so they just didn't show. No show, no communication, no information, and the tracing website information on the website is completely bogus - they never arrive at the times indicated there. My shipment has been sitting at the terminal for three weeks now, but no one ever contacted me to inform me of any changes. I had to call every single time (loooong waits on hold) and each customer agent plus their supervisors gave me a different explanation, ranging from "oh, he should be right there" - no, he was not - to "we are short-staffed - I really, really do not care- to "we need special equipment" - yes, I know that and you know that, it has been sitting in your terminal from April 25 on and today it is May 15, 2018. Central Transport walked into my client's location at the WRONG ADDRESS and conned my client into putting the WRONG EQUIPMENT on his truck. I have been in business for the past 35 years and I have not come across a company this bad in a long, long time. I have used them for about 200+ shipments over the past five years. They seem to get it right about 80% of the time but when they get it wrong, they can be terrible. Their pricing is usually the cheapest out there, but that is just a reflection of the service you are buying. This is what you should except to receive for that 20% when they get it wrong; delayed pickups, delayed shipments, shipments going to the wrong address, lost shipments, damaged shipments, problems with their billing, problems with their accounts receivable, a very poor shipment tracking system, long waits on the telephone for customer service, and then rude and unhelpful personnel when do you get someone on the phone. We had to arrange our own pick up from CHRobinson ourselves (transportation broker) in order to schedule a pick up. This is the only way we can guarantee that we get hold of our items. I had RSX Type S Aspec bumpers and side skirts shipped from Florida to Hayward California. I was dreading coming to this place because of all the negative reviews, but the people there are nice and treat you with respect. There was no damage to my shipment and all was well. I think if people who had good experiences with this place would post reviews, then their score would even out. Would give them -100 stars if possible. Worst company I have ever dealt with. I book trucks and shipments all the time, and have almost no issues. I am not one who leaves any type of review, and I usually give people and companies the benefit of the doubt. Not this time. They picked up our shipment of really expensive molds (5 total pallets) totalling 12,000 pounds and then off-loaded them on to 4 different trucks. First red flag. They delivered 4 out of the 5 and gave up looking for the last one after almost no time at all. One of the pallets were stacked and one of the molds fell through the pallets, damaging the tool. Complete morons. These molds are really expensive tools, and are really hard to lose if you use your eyes. They were really rude (especially the supervisor) and straight up told me that they deemed it as lost, and that's it. No apology, not taking any responsibility, no trying to help whatsoever. They lose your stuff, and make it sound like its your fault. Great customer service right there. I called everyday for the last two weeks, and they could care less about their customers. I will make sure that NO ONE uses this horrible company. I don't know how they are in business with so many horrible reviews and lost/damaged items. It is worth the added freight cost to ship with ANYONE else. They need to be shut down. read more

Service really depends on which terminals are involved. Most of my freight moves through Pittsburgh terminal and they do a decent job moving my freight to points in Ohio and Indiana. HOWEVER, sent a skid to Wisconsin and it took 15 days. Customer service gave me wrong information every day for 7 days straight. I could've walked this pallet to Wisconsin faster than they delivered it. Company has so much potential, but simply cannot be trusted like other LTL carriers. Trust is worth a lot. read more

Central transport should be shut down by the Better Business Bureau. The way they conduct their business is completely inefficient and their lack of customer service is dumbfounding. They refused to give me back my equipment even though I am third-party to their mistake with a pick up shipment. They have no empathy towards how my business is being affected and their bottom line is making sure that the bill gets paid even though it's their mistake. While talking to customer service, the lady even threatened me that my materials would be docked and disposed of if their bill wasn't paid. They put no responsibility on their drivers and no accountability in their business. If you call customer service they advise you to go online, if you go online they advise you to call customer service. You might as well be talking to someone in India. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have to fill out a police report and report them to the Better Business Bureau because they're basically holding my equipment hostage even though I do not do business with them and they refuse to give me back my crate. If you want to work with a real shipping company who has actual customer service, People who are actually knowledgeable on how shipping transactions work, Fast responses, And aren't money hungry thieves; I would suggest you look into distribution by air instead. My pallet was supposed to arrive six days ago - according to tracking, it arrived to their facility in my city 9 days ago. Tracking said the shipment was lost, then Central Transport told me "We have passed the shipment along to our partner carrier." When I asked who is the partner carrier and when my shipment will arrive, they wrote "We are not released this information in customer service. All tracking and tracing goes through our interline department for updates." So, someone somewhere has my pallet and it will arrive sometime or never, and there is no tracking nor any way to know what company even has the pallet in their possession. read more
