I have visited Home Depot many times over the past 25 years because they are the only store in town…read moreother than local hardware stores. I try to avoid Home Depot whenever I can. The store is usually a mess and there is never anyone around to help you. Occasionally, there is someone that is helpful and knowledgeable, but those times are few and far between. The last visit was to purchase a new microwave during tax free weekend. I expected the store to be busy, so I arrived early. The microwave I wanted to purchase was not in stock (Of course), so I asked to order it and have it delivered to the store. I was told by the associate that it could not be delivered to the store, and would have to be delivered to my home. I asked if there would be a delivery fee, and was told that there shouldn't be because he had just sold a new refrigerator that was going to be delivered at no charge. I placed the order, and when we got to the delivery page of the order, I was informed that there was indeed a $39.00 fee for delivery. I asked why it couldn't be delivered to the store at no charge, and was told he didn't know. It was busy, so I let it go with the intention of contacting Home Depot directly, but I wasn't happy. I contacted Home Depot through their website Chat window and the person I was chatting with told me to go back to the store and ask the store manager why there was a delivery fee. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, I was told it would be a 5-10 minute wait, and at the 11 minute mark, I was hung up on, and the chat window disappeared. When I returned home, I emailed HDCares.com and asked the same questions and found out that not only do they not care, they don't respond to emails. Pretty disappointing. I will give their delivery service a good mark because the microwave was delivered in 4 days, and they communicated well via email. My suggestion is to avoid Home Depot whenever possible. There are a couple of Lowes stores, but they're over an hour away. I have always found Lowes to be a clean, neat and well run store, at least the 3 I have visited in the past few years. The associates I have spoken to when there have been plentiful and helpful. I wish we had a Lowes that was local.

When pricing appliances while I was building my home, the decision was an easy one:…read more Could I have purchased the products for less elsewhere? Yes, but I felt the advantages of purchasing from Campbell & Keeler far outweighed saving a few dollars (which if you amortize over the life of the appliances, the difference is negligible). And Keeler appliances have not proven me wrong! Advantages: * Supporting our local businesses is important. * Service -This was an important consideration when I was deciding what company to purchase my high-end appliances from. I have had a few issues with my Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Each and every time Gordon Keeler responded immediately to my service calls. Most recently my Wolf Microwave/Convection oven stopped heating just days before the Christmas holiday. Gordon was at my home the same day I called to access my issue. Parts were ordered and the appliance was back in order by Saturday afternoon. I know I would have been without my second oven had I purchased appliances anywhere else and especially from a big box store. I would not consider buying appliances anywhere else. Thank you, Gordon & Keeler Applicances for saving Christmas dinner!

After our dishwasher died a slow, lingering, ultimately smoky death, the mister wanted to get a…read morenicer, quieter replacement. After picking out the one that best met his stringent requirements, he called around and found only a few places that carried it, and only one that did their own installation: Central Appliance. He purchased and set up the delivery and installation appointment over the phone, and was in contact via email after Hurricane Sandy delayed the delivery. The delivery and installation went very smoothly, with one exception: a small rock got caught from our driveway in the bottom of the dishwasher while bringing it upstairs, and scratched our tile floor. The installer was very apologetic and said we should contact Central Appliance directly, which we did, and Merry (manager? Owner? Person in charge that had handled the entire transaction) had a tile company come out and fix it up promptly. All in all we were extremely satisfied--we never had to step foot outside!--and would recommend Central Appliance to anyone in the area looking for a trustworthy, experienced dealer. By the way, Merry told the mister that Central Appliance is the only authorized Bosch dealer in the area, and that the other company who said they "had a guy" to put in the dishwasher used CA as their contractor for Bosch repairs. So they appear to really be the experts.
