    Fish chowder
    Damien K.

Came here for lunch with a coworker on a Friday to take advantage of the seafood. The restaurant is small in size so for lunch it was fine and easy to find seating, but I could definitely see a wait here on the weekends. For meal started with the Home made fish chowder. It was a nice cup of chowder, with good chunks of fish, potato, etc. Then for the main course moved to Fish and Chips. I guess my only complaint is for the money there was only 1 fish fillet. Usually around these parts you would typically get 2 so it felt portion wise there was a little bit of skimp on the fish. As the fish went it was cooked well and overall made it more disappointed there wasn't more.

If didn't know Central House was there, you wouldn't find it. The sign is small and unassuming and the entrace(s) is(are) a little obscure. It's literally an apartment in a multifamily home, where the living room and maybe a bedroom have been combined to form the bar area. If you look into the kitchen, you can see rows and rows and rows of giant cans of I don't know what and I'm pretty sure I don't care. You're not coming here for the local farm-fresh foods, you're coming here for a beer or three, a game on TV, some good company and maybe something fried or grilled to eat. I've never had the food, so I can't judge on that. But the beer is cold and well priced, the service is friendly and prompt, and the clientele range from old boys who will chat you up to goth cheerleaders (I swear to GOD this happened). If you're having dinner in downtown Westborough, I can't think of a better place to pop in for an after dinner drink. I just really wish they'd put a fire in that big 'ole gorgeous fireplace. (PS. Most of the decor is by Budweiser.)

Looks like a house, feels like home.

Best for fish fry, watching the Sox, the Pats and having fun with friends! Weekend breakfasts are delicious.

Good grief. This place is awful. We have stopped in every few years to see if there's been any improvement. Unfortunately, the answer is no.

Definitely the hidden gem of Westborough! Love the beer selection, the food is consistently really good, and the staff is pleasant!

This place is very offbeat and highly amusing. Brunch is excellent. Prices are great. Check it out.

Don't let the rough looks scare you away. They offer a great selection of food and don't skimp on the portions! We always love coming here for lobster rolls or fried seafood that they have shipped in. Be warned that they are cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. They also get quite busy at dinner time and on the weekends, so plan ahead.

Went last night for the first time in many years. Was so looking forward to the lobster roll. Surprised to see the price was almost double what it used to be and it was the most disappointing terrible lobster roll I think I have ever had. The lobster meat was frozen and it was soggy and completely tasteless. You could not have made a lobster roll any worse and believe me I have had many lobster rolls. The saving grace was the good french fries. I left close to a half a lobster roll which I never ever do and don't regret leaving it. Bring back the old owners recipe and bring your price down because that is uncalled for to have such a huge price for terrible lobster!! That is the price charged by lobster shacks on the water that serve fresh shucked lobster meat which is of course understandable.

Hubby reported his roast beef sandwich was great although the roast beef looked overcooked to me. What was dubious, however, were the French fries. They had a sort of mealy texture and a very odd taste--I thought they used coconut oil to fry but hubby thinks they coated them with baking soda, then fried. Either way I wasn't a fan.

The inside is charming and has that old wooden bar smell that I like. This would be a great place to grab a drink on a cold winter day. Very Scottish, lol. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 dinner reservation. We each ordered appetizers, which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, even the cup of soup. Mozzarella sticks were nothing special, the cheddar tomato soup was really tasty. My mother in law loved the cock-a-leekie soup, and my father in law liked his scotch egg. It took another 20-25 minutes for our entrees to arrive. For a restaurant that closes at 8 pm, it was surprising at how long the food took to come out. They must have a very small kitchen. Everyone in our group liked their meal. My "loaded vegetarian baked potato" was just a full cup of sour cream and cheese on top of a potato with lukewarm broccoli on the side. A bit disappointing, with there were at least chives or seasoning. Basically nothing else vegetarian on the menu so this was what I was stuck with. Desserts were good, especially the sticky toffee pudding. I would call this place a step above average in the area, but service leaves a lot to be desired.
