They always are so prompt at notifying me if they are ready early and give me a 15 minute warning for when he is finished. I'd like to start by acknowledging that my dog was slightly matted before her first grooming appointment at Central Barks, which is why I scheduled the visit. In hindsight, I realize I should have done a bit more research beforehand. While I understand that she was matted, I was disappointed with how short her groomer cut her fur. I'm not sure it was necessary to go that short.. or at least communicate that she was going to go all the way down to the skin. What I found most concerning, however, was the lack of communication about a razor burn I discovered on her neck. I recognize that accidents can happen, but I believe it should have been communicated to me, especially given how irritated and painful it looks on the neck. deedee treated us pretty badly, doubled the prices, didn't let our dogs go out to pee, and made a rude comment about our dogs. My brother drove down from sacramento for family visit and were about 20 mins late because of accidents, which is our bad but we were willing to pay the late fee but she doubled it and said it was 40 for each dog instead of 20. She said he was late 40 mins but she was in the bathroom for about 15 mins and helped out other customers check out. We totally understand that being late isnt the groomers fault at all but she should have handled it better instead of being accusatory and mean. She also rudely said that we should have called which is fair but I was at work and he was driving while it was pouring rain. The way it was said was the problem more than what was actually said. We had scheduled two dogs at two different hours so one of them wasn't actually late but still wanted to charge us a $40 late fee for each dog. I really thought, long and hard about posting this review due to the people being really friendly and getting me in when I needed it. However, to be honest, my French bulldog who simply came in for a bath, nail clipping and anal gland, expression came back in worse shape or pretty much then she came in. Frenchies have big ears and should not have a lot of water in them since we have picked her up about three weeks ago. She has had major problems with her ear and also came back with fleas. We live in an apartment and my dogs are very well taken care of very well manicured They are basically my children and are treated as such. I have never so much is seen a flea on her body in the two years she has been alive. It ended up being so bad I had to take both of my dogs in to get flea medication because her big brother is severely allergic to fleas it did pose as a big problem, really unfortunate like I said because they were super nice over the phone. However, when the hubby took her in, he did say it was kind of dirty in there and he was a little nervous about leaving her, but we knew she needed it. And the main portion of taking her was the anal gland expression as it's some thing we cannot do at home. We don't believe it was done at all. We also had to take her to the vet for that as well And they said she was extremely full and there could've been no possible way it was done within the last eight months. Her last one was done in March, so that made sense. Her nails were clipped perfectly, and she did come back a happy dog (as I've seen dogs seem scared after they are groomed)minus the ear problem and flea issues . read more

Took my 10 month old shihtzu to get groomed today. He was in desperate need of a cut. Had tried a few groomers who all have done an okay job but never what we requested. We don't like the standard shihtzu cut. We like the longer haired look and have always requested they keep his eyelashes long. Every place has cut way too short and have always cut down his lashes. This was our first time trying out Central barks and explained what we would like...they nailed it! They kept his beautiful lashes and made sure to keep his hair length just like we asked. So disappointed...I have been taking sweet little OJ for months and months. Priscilla is a great groomer and does very well with OJ. I have full trust in her grooming skills and have always left it up to her to do what is right for OJ. Today, however, I had an experience that will prevent me from ever going back or from recommending Central Barks to anyone. I will start by saying that I absolutely abhor the cages, BUT fully understand why they are used at groomers. I live 10 minutes away and Priscilla and I have always had great communication. She texts me when OJ is ready, I Zelle her the payment. That way, it is a very quick transition when I pick up OJ and the time he is trapped in a cage is minimal. Today, however, when I arrived to pick up OJ (after paying for the service prior to arrival), Priscilla had stepped out to get something to eat and none of the other staff knew anything - whether or not I had paid and even which dog was OJ. I had to wait for a few minutes with little to no explanation as to the wait. Once I finally said "get me my dog," I was told that the gentleman needed to call to verify the payment and which dog was mine. I guarantee you I would not leave without the correct dog! So, my complaint is that Priscilla did not inform the staff of the status of OJ. She knows that I am always prompt at picking him up. Text messages back and forth did not satisfy my concern and I was told that I treated her staff harshly. My expectations of great customer service were not met. I was demanding that I get my dog. Priscilla needed to take ownership that she was at fault for leaving the facility (especially knowing I was almost there) and not informing her staff of the status of my account with OJ. So, now I am the bad guy for demanding my dog in a timely fashion. I will not be returning to Central Barks. I do already have another groomer in mind. Be careful - Customer Service is not a priority at Central Barks. read more

Terrible customer service. Took my cavapoo there and gave it a couple opportunities. Thought it would be more convenient because they're closer to home, but explaining to them that I just wanted a traditional "cavapoo haircut" as I've done it at our previous groomer didn't work. This last time, they once again did a terrible cut, and he even had some scratches around his face that we are sure he didn't have before. When we called to inform them they said they didn't give refunds, we weren't asking for a refund. Just wanted to inform them that once again we where not happy, and ask maybe for a different stylist, but the associate didn't even allow for that. I'd rather drive an hour for good customer service and a good haircut then access a "convenient location". SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. I do hope they improve, as this is a new location. I also hope they understand that puppies are part of our family, and the way you treat them MATTERS. As a respond to the response: yes, I am very much frustrated. To come home to see my dog with an uneven haircut AGAIN doesn't make me happy. On the call you said 48 hours, now you write 24. However, don't worry. We are done. As for the bandana/tie, as I mentioned last time we where there, we are more than happy to pay for it. That was NOT the only concern on the call. As for the matts, the company set up the appointments as I was told we'd work to providing a better cut. His tail is just as shaved as the first time. Took my 5 month old puppy to Central Barks for their first grooming session! Elijah was great! Since it was my puppy's first grooming session, we were unsure of how he will act. We let Elijah know and he assured us that he'll do our best to get our dog more desensitized to the grooming process. Although we booked a full grooming session, we ended up only having a sanitizing groom, but that was fine by us! Elijah didn't want to overwhelm our puppy with his first session Elijah did a great job and you can definitely see the time and detail he put in to make sure our puppy was well groomed! We've been going to Central Barks since July of last year and have always loved the results. They even switched their shampoo from furminater to a different brand and it was incredible for keeping shedding under control. We traveled from San Jose every month just to come to them but Sophies usual groomer Marcy is no longer there and this last time she went she literally came back scruffy. Central barks has lost my business, I got charged extra for my dog "having fleas". I would not mind paying extra at all if I was confident she had them prior to dropping her off but I have never had this issue before. On the contract it states they check for Matted hair and fleas when you drop off your pet which pricilla failed to do so. For all I know my dog might have gotten the fleas from waiting in their kennel or from other pets there. They also missed cutting one of her nails (not the first time). Customer service is garbage. Parking is incredibly difficult with all the construction and they have a policy if you are 15 minutes late they won't take your business. While I can understand the need for this logic, I think it could be applied a bit differently. If I'm a habitual offender then flag my account and apply this rule, but to blanketly apply this rule is asinine. My appointment was at 1200. I called at 1205 to let them know I was running late and that my GPS said I would arrive by 1211. I was told it wasn't a problem and someone would phone me in the event it was a problem - I did not get a call and showed up at 1217 and was turned away. Central Barks is a very nice, clean and well maintained Dog Grooming Salon. I was able to get an appointment the same morning I called at 9:00 am was assigned 11:00 am. The young ladies that operate the salon are very pleasant and friendly. Wow what an amazing job they did on my Miniature Doxie.
