We decided to stop by and check out the shop since we were near the area. It's a pretty big store with a lot of different varieties of animal food, treats, and essentials. We were looking for soft treats to buy our 15 year old dog that has unfortunately lost her teeth. When we asked the assistant manager Joseph, he kindly mentioned to us that he also has a 15 year old dog that's losing her teeth and had a few recommendations for soft treats. He was so kind and understanding, he decided to give us a free sample bag to see if our dog would enjoy it. It was really an amazing experience, our dog also loved them! Thank you again Joseph. read more

if I could give them zero stars, we just bought a 17 count of greenies for $65 when you could go on Amazon and get them for 24 count for $34. We weren't even out of the store yet and ask for a refund and she wouldn't give it to us. Don't ever go to the store. It's a rip off. read more

I go often for my bunny supplies. I love their pet scents candles. When they are out of stock they order me what I need. They even found me hermit crabs. The staff are always very friendly. All of them. They have a great selection of things for being a small store! read more

So I was passing through Salinas on my way back from a trip. I love my reptiles and fish and always looking for new things. So since I was close to here I decided to stop by. The place itself isn't huge, which is fine. But there was very little selection when it comes to animals. No turtles or tortoises, fish were limited. The store itself was pretty stocked up with supplies, but they didn't have many animals to choose from. The workers were nice, but just wish they had more options. read more

horrifying. when i walked it it smelled so bad. i went to see the fish and every tank was disgusting. couldn't even see through all the muck on the glass. for some reason there were dead frogs in jars between the tanks. shut this place down read more

I've always heard good stuff about this place and I try to avoid big chain pet stores if I can. I decided to stop by and the conditions of this store are definitely not it... there was spiderwebs on some of the items. Then the habitats of the animals weren't the best. Where's the enrichment and cleanness?? I know they are meant to be temporary but it definitely wasn't good. Even petsmart does better and that's a low. Was definitely disappointed. - the only staff member was kind. So that was the only plus. read more

Great service, staff was knowledgeable in what I needed for my dog-- but also had options. Shop Local!

Went to purchase new dog food, as on their site it advertises superior customer service and knowledge. The two gentleman working at 5:30 pm on Aug 22 had zero knowledge of the dog food in store. How sad, trying to support local. i think you need to change how you advertise your store read more

I really want to give this pet store a high review, but it never really seems to have everything that I need. I do buy food for my dogs here, and I have been happy with the birdseed that I recently purchased. I don't know anyone who has purchased animals from here, nor has use the grooming service, but the groomer always seems to have a client. They do have a multi bag discount, so once you purchase 10 you get a discount on the 11th, or maybe it might be free. Continue to go here to get the food for our dogs, as I really dislike the big pet stores. read more

Bought these and realized as I was walking out that the price is double the price they are normally . I usually buy from Petco but figured id stop here on my way home .Normal price is 38.99. Walked back in within a minute and lady told me that they don't give refunds. Well this should have been told to me as you charged me twice the price it is to buy at a normal store. Complete rip off Recommendation drive to a normal pet store that doesn't price gouging. read more

I highly recommend this business. I feel confident I buying fish and accessories. Staff is friendly and very helpful.

Both dogs had an apt this morning for nails, bath ears. When I got there I asked if our Terrier could be groomed. We tried to to "trim" her ourselves and she was a hot mess. Groomer said he would definitely try if he had time. Felt very comfortable leaving them with him, he was very friendly and professional. Said he'd call at 10am when he was done. No kidding 10am he called and they were done. I was pleasantly surprised that he had groomed our terrier, she looked FABULOUS, and our Jack Russel mix looks great too. Both were happy to see ybut not freaking out trying to get to us. I feel they were comfortable with the groomer, and trusted him. Was hesitant after reading so w of the reviews here, glad we went, no way disappointed and will be back. Dogs look and smell great, super happy with grooming service! read more

Jurassic Pets - Pet Stores Near Me - Salinas, California

I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and I'm always happy with my interactions, so this review is really long overdue. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always helpful, ready with recommendations for my fur babies healthy dietary foodie needs. Clean and organized the animals here are cared for lovingly. Prepared and ready for their new homes as they are regularly handled so they can easily adapt to their new human caregivers. I love the variety of nutritional options and is always a great value. They offer pet grooming boarding, and even have a traveling veterinarian vaccination clinic that comes once a month for a few hours, if you want a fast in and out service for your dog or cat. Nikki is one of my favorites, she always greets me with a smile! I recommend this one stop pet shop to anyone looking for that personal touch and experience above any corporate store, I will always shop my local small business as there really is something to be said about the small mom and pop shops that give a warm feeling that you'll always want to come back to. If I could give 5 more stars I would read more

Absolutely love this shop! They helped me establish my salamander's tank to be bioactive with premium substrate, live growing moss, worms, etc! Now I never have to clean the soil aside from removing some uneaten bugs! They also helped me recover my rescued fish tank that was left on the side of the curb in shallow waters and filth. They taught me everything I needed to know from bubblers, heaters, filters, water parameters, and live aquatic plant care! read more

They really need to update their hours. I drove across town in traffic only to arrive at a locked door an hour before what they have posted as their closing time. The sign visible in their window also says the wrong time. There is a faded piece of paper written in highlighter that you cannot see with different times. So frustrated. read more

Great place. People need to stop by more often and support this business. Staff are knowledgeable and courteous. I like shopping at this store. read more

Instead of shopping online, I decided to support my local business and get what I needed from Jurassic Pets. Absolutely horrible customer service. The item I was purchasing was behind the counter. He immediately started ringing me up, but I was interested in making other purchases and wanted some suggestions. He could not be bothered. Gave me short, clipped answers and was rude. He appeared to be the manager or possibly the owner...whatever, I will never shop there again. Back to shopping online. Pretty disappointing. read more

Came here a few months back with my pit bull to get a bath and nail trim. I've brought him previously before this and a nice lady was the one who did his grooming but don't think she works there anymore. Complimenting how sweet my dog was. This current and only Groomer basically told me he doesn't do pitbulls and need to be more specific when letting them know what type of dog I have (pitbull mix). He called me 30 minutes after dropping off my dog saying to pick him up and that it will be the last time he'll do my dog because he was being aggressive. Which is weird because other groomers have always commented on how sweet and playful he is. When I picked him up he was super wet (he was basically rushing me to pick up my dog) and still had the audacity to charge me. Personally think he just hates pitbull breeds. Took him to petsmart few days after and was told he was super sweet. Nothing but compliments. read more

Terrible place for grooming and customer service is horrible. I booked a grooming appointment for my 12 year old German shepherd and after she was dropped off, they called not 5 minutes later saying to come back because she isn't cooperating. Well, it's a new place for her and maybe she was nervous. Sometimes it takes a few moments and some decent kindness to make them feel comfortable. They then stated they normally don't groom old dogs. Would have been nice to know that beforehand. I did tell them how old she is when i booked the appointment. I paid a deposit for the service too and they never gave it back. Not very pet friendly people for a pet store. Ridiculous stress that they put my dog through read more

I am so disappointed in this store. I use to love going to this store but not after today. I went in with my mother and brother looking for a fish and food. When I was looking at one of the fish tanks to see if they had the fish I wanted a worker from the store which I believe is the manager tells me to put my bag that I was carrying by the way it was a fanny pack by the fridge. He didn't even try to be nice to me or ask me if I needed help just right away told me to leave my purse which has all my credit cards and my ID and he expected me just to leave it their unsupervised. I don't know if he thought someone was stealing but that guy was so unprofessional everything started because he heard me speaking Spanish which makes me so mad read more

I don't know where to begin to describe the horrible services I experienced from the store manager. I purchased a rare silky bearded dragon that requires special care. A little over a month after the purchase, I went to the store for advice. The manager was very rude and asked for the receipt like I wanted a refund. I quickly clarified that I wanted advice. He stated my purchase was over 30 days and it's not his problem. Absolutely awful to treat customers that come to you with concern for the life and pet. read more

Terrible service for grooming. My dog had an appointment at 12 and i had an emergency come up that was out of my control and called them that I was going to be a few minutes late and the lady said " that's fine but i think there is going to be a small charge, let me go talk go the groomer" she then tells me that the groomer was fine with it and said no worries. Also my father called them as well to tell them that I was going to be late and they didn't even tell him anything about a late fee. Come to find out on my bill was a $30 late fee charge. I was very upset and they told me there was going to be a late fee. Excuse me ??? The lady that I spoke with said it was fine? They could have at least told me on the phone the consequence of being late and if it was still okay. They do this on purpose to charge customers more. $95 for a grooming haircut. Bullshit. Terrible service. read more

I had a strange and overall terrible experience.i had a dpecific purchase in mind. I first went in andsensed the counter person wasnt thoroughly impressed with me, so i said i apologizex for takimg his time , he said oh its cool, look its dead.. i internally shook my head next up a person named rich as rd who seemed well liked by the community.when it came time to finalize the purchase he gave a price then teied to gasloght me amd say he never said it.it gets better, he told me mealy worms were 6.99 bit charged 7.99. Oh it gets better richard then purposefully called me a name that wasnt mine after i asked him call me my name, Pete.driving home one lizard vomited his stomach the other seemes to convulse. I thiught about going back but i was encouraged by richard to speak w his boss which led me to believe his back was covered. The topper is the cricjets i bout are now brown and rotten. My one male is ver jumpy and seems to have a motor function disorder. I knew i shouldnt have made the purchsa but did and wish i didnt..its a shame because i believe is a good resourc but not for me read more

Many reptiles look ill and the guy who seems to run the joint is aloof. Don't think I'll be going back.

I used to enjoy going to this place due to my love for reptiles and Jurassic pets being the only reptile shop in town, but after my recent visit to buy a jumbo rat which is normally $12.99, (and sign still said $12.99) I was told that my total was now $21.00. They said their prices were raised due to not having as many coming in. Regardless of the amount of supply they have coming in, it really shows their true colors and how quick they are to take advantage of customers when the opportunity is there. read more
