We have used Suds and Scissors for our for at least 15 years! They do an amazing job and are so kind to our dogs. Each of our dogs has had a different personality and Todd and his team always adapt to their personalities to make grooming a more pleasant experience! We now have Gia our Bernedoodle who visits them every two weeks. She is a bit shy at first and Todd and David have been amazing at comforting her during her spa day! Highly recommend this business!

We have been using Suds N Scissors for 15 years or more for our dog's grooming. Todd Harris is the only person who knows how to properly groom and trim our Bichons Frises. Our dogs feel comfortable at his shop. We have never had any poor experiences with Suds N Scissors. read more

our mini poodle is ten now and I've been taking him to Suds' n Scissors every winter when we're in Carmel for his entire life. I've always been happy with his haircut and with the quick turn around time. Other groomers he's had have kept him for almost the entire day, but he is in and out of here in a couple of hours. very happy with them. read more

I have been bringing my 2 labradoodles here for several years after trying a number of places in Pacific Grove, Carmel and Monterey. One of my dogs is especially challenging for groomers and Matthew does a great job with him. Both dogs are excited to walk in the door. Everyone on the team is friendly and it's clear that they are doing work they love. I highly recommend this local business and am so happy they are part of our community. read more

I usually don't like leaving super long reviews, but I had to. I could not be more happy with my visit!!! My dog (my son) came out perfect! The first gentleman that helped me upon my drop off (brunette man with nose ring) was the absolutely sweetest! I could tell he was really paying attention to all my particulars about how I like my dog groomed. When I came to pick my Winston up, Winston wasn't as happy as I'm used to seeing him when picking him up from the groomers (I can tell he felt super comfortable here). Upon leaving this other gentleman (muscular build with tattoos I believe) was giving me all the details about Winston's grooming and what to do next time to prevent matting, his opinion on what length to go etc., etc. Mind you, it was extremely busy in there! The place is super clean, they're all wearing scrubs, the decor is just adorable. All the dogs that went in and came out had the best groom job. It just had the best charm here. They are pricey compared to other places, but it is so worth it! And that is coming from someone who loves to save a buck or two, definitely come here. read more

Left my dogs there this morning and I made the point to show pictures of how I like my dog's hair cut, I have a yorkiepoo and her hair grows super fast and she looks like a hot mess if not contained, so I like to trim her very short so I gain more mileage out of her hair cut, since it is an expense service. They are quick and my dogs look cute and well taken care of, but my yorkie simply look like she had a bath and her hair brushed. It is still way too long regardless my directions to cut her hair short. It is very frustrating when you give precise instructions and people just decide to do whatever they want.. read more

I encourage yelp users researching Suds and Scissors Carmel to look at all of the 1 star and 2 star reviews as well as those that are "not currently recommended" (the 1 star reviews are hidden here). You will see MANY complaints about the rudeness of the staff managing the desk and phones. I have used them many times because the grooming was ok, and I have tried to overlook the curt, snippy attitude I have been subjected to over the years. Today was the second time a specific request about my dog's grooming was ignored or forgotten. To be told at 1:30 to come get my dog "the sooner the better" by a rude female employee when they close at 3:00 plus a shabby grooming job have ensured that we will not be back. I will join the legions of people who will elect to not receive brusque, rude treatment from this establishment. I am expecting a rude, gruff response from the owner, as this seems to be his MO. No thank you. read more

Definitely recommend. With a cat it's so hard to find a good groomer and there may only be one person (unfortunately I didn't catch a name) at Suds and Scissors that does grooming for kitty's but my kitty came back so soft, with his nails trimmed of course. I had to get my poor baby a flea bath and he has never been to the groomers before. Well he survived! He is exhausted from his long day, but I will definitely be going back! The one name I did catch was the one who answered the phone, her name was Rachel and she was amazing and helped me with everything, as well as calming my nerves when I called to check on my boy. We just moved back to the area full time and our senior pup requires grooming about every 6 to 8 weeks. I was able to make an appointment online and was sent confirmation texts and emails. The drop off window of time is nice and they did an excellent job! My pup came out looking fantastic and the service was quick. We have our next two appointments on the books already. Are they a little pricey? Yes! But, you get what you pay for and that's worth it for me when it comes to my fur baby. read more

BEST experience ever as a walk-in!! I can't thank the caring, capable staff of Warren, Tamara and Owner Todd enough as they went above and beyond to complete a nail clip for my scared (and somewhat sedated) dachshund mix. While it is a relatively simple procedure, they handled my nervous guy beautifully and really saved the day!!! My regular Vet (Pacific Grove Animal Hospital whom I DO NOT recommend) had prescribed a sedative for the appointment and then canceled my appt at the very last minute without telling me and the vet techs who were on site refused to do the nail clip. I'll be retuning to Suds N Scissors for All my dog grooming needs. You should go too!! They have great toys as well read more

We just brought our poodle mix to Tamara at Suds n Scissors for the first time. The schedule with our previous groomer got interrupted so Millie had gone too long since her last grooming. We felt services here were extremely overpriced. $70 - wash only for our 20 pound rough-coat terrier, really? AND an extra $10 EACH for anal sacs and nails bringing the grand total to over $90. We've never seen prices like these. Ever. Our local Bay Area groomer bathes our Terrier, trims nails, empties anal sacs, trims feet, eyes and back end for $60. I left a review a month ago on this business. I've been a customer since 2011 with a 2 year hiatus when we lived in San Francisco. Todd groomed my 2 akitas and my French bulldog. I was always thrilled. When we returned from the city, we took our new Akita to Todd. It was a substandard groom. Hoshi came home damp, "doggie" and not rinsed thoroughly. Hoshi has a rolled eyelid and Todd mentioned this to my daughter. I called Todd to let him know I was aware of her condition and to tell him she smelled doggie and was not rinsed. Todd declined my calls and didn't return either call. After my review I expected a response, especially after many years of being a loyal customer. He hasn't responded at all. Todd if you read these shame on you. Long time customers deserve better than this. read more

Right off the bat, this place is expensive. HOWEVER, I have NEVER had my dogs SO CLEAN and AMAZINGLY SILKY!!!! Just wow. Wow, Wow, Wow!!! They even got my doxie's dew claws, and everybody always misses them because they are kindof buried in his fur. And the guy who rang me up and got my puppers was so super nice, I really wish I had gotten his name so I could put it on here! read more

When I brought my dog to Janna at Hair of the Dog, Janna was immediately concerned. She took the time to completely remove my dog's undercoat, and cut away hair that was hopelessly matted. Janna also trimmed my dog's nails, which is not an easy task, since my dog really dislikes it. When I picked up my dog I couldn't believe how much better she looked. All that nasty undercoat had been removed and "feathers" trimmed. I can't remember her looking so good since she was a puppy. Janna was so friendly to me and my dog. I know when my dog has not been treated well (yes, she speaks to me and is a diva!).

I received pictures and communication, but most importantly--Picasso loved him. I got picture updates proving my dog was living his best life while I was away for a few hours. Josh walked him, hung out with him, and became Picasso's best friend in the span of a few hours. I'll definitely be booking with these folks again next time I'm in town!

Virginia took our call and was nice at first, let us know there was space the next day and seemed really flexible about drop-off, haircut options, etc. The next morning, we dropped him off. A couple hours later, we get a call letting us know he was ready to be picked up and was told to pick him up immediately because he was barking. Upon pickup, we noticed his hair wasn't really trimmed, it was still really long. It just looked like he got a bath and blowout. We had sent reference photos of a standard puppy cut we normally get for our puppy with our normal groomer, so wasn't sure why his hair was still so long. They said they will cut it shorter but will need another 30 minutes. After another 30 mins, Virginia called us back and very rudely said "you need to pick this dog up, this is the best we're going to be able to do and he's barking and annoying the other dogs." Her tone and demeanor were incredibly rude and unnecessary. What confused me is when we showed up for final pickup, we heard several dogs barking and none of them were the pup we dropped off, I wonder if they were getting similar phone calls. Though they were able to get his hair shorter, it was very poorly done. The legs and underbelly area are still really long and there are several areas where his hair length is uneven and awkward looking. They charged more than our normal groomer, did a really poor job, and Virginia treated us very rudely.

I had been searching for a mobile groomer because it's tough to take both pups at the same time and my rescue doesn't get along with other dogs and that can be an issue taking her. Shane was on time, so nice and gentle and their nails were done better than any of the groomers we've been to around here. My mastiff did so well with him despite it being their first meeting! I will definitely be using Shane for as long as possible and if you have any doggie anxiety issues or just want your fur babies to feel more relaxed at home you need to have Shane come out.

I've been to several states in my work over the years and this is one of the more fair and affordable vets. They also have information on animal hospitals in the area should you need one. They are all connected through the app.

In my case there were two furkids that needed varying care. Why I would return to Freya +'s: + Responsive. I needed day care services and even evening services while I had to attend an all day conference and participate in an evening event for a few days. Freya answered my calls and texts before the care, during the care, and after the care. + Timely. Always showed up on time when I had to rush off to an event + Caring. I judge how my two dogs react when she returned the following day. Dogs do not lie and they were happy to see her return. + Helpful. Often I had to rush in and out of my lodge while I had to attend an event and Freya made sure she could help me exit as smoothly as possible and minimize my dogs' separation anxiety + Senior care experience. I see that Freya was able to care for my senior dog who had more issues than the younger sibling. + Great feedback. She shared photos of my girls to just show me how they were doing that day while I had to leave them under her care. Overall I would not hesitate to have Freya take care of my senior dog and my other more lively furkid.

My review is in response to the review I saw written by Devan H. I have to take offense by the review she wrote about the staff at Suds and Scissors. From what I read, whoever she spoke to at SNS seemed like they were trying to prevent her from ruining her dog's coat. I googled coat funk and came up with this article http://www.epi-pet.com/coatfunk.aspx Shaving a dog's coat because it has fleas is not the answer to ridding the dog of a flea problem. While the vet, may not have objected to shaving the dog's coat for medical reasons that does not mean he/she took into the account the fact that the coat may not return to it's original luster. The staff of SNS has always treated me professionally and friendly. Everyone always has a smile on their face and seem to really love what they do. I guess I'm also concerned as to why someone from Burbank, CA would call a Salon in Carmel, CA for an estimate of a short cut and then to place a bad review on Yelp! when they don't have any experience with the salon or staff. Suds and Scissors has a wonderful reputation in Carmel and I for one am proud to have my dogs groomed there. read more

We moved to Carmel Valley in 1975 so we could have dogs and horses. Suds and Scissors have been our groomers since it opened. I am very pleased with the service and care they've extended to the multitude of dogs, Irish Wolfhound mixes to SPCA terrior-mix puppies, we've owned over the years. I have changed groomers a few times when one opens nearer to my home since it is nearly a half an hour drive to Todd's, but I find that I am not satisfied and always return to Todd and his crew despite the long drive. My dogs go in for a grooming once a month with the works, anals, teeth, nails, ears, etc. It is expensive, I'll admit, but I am always satisfied and find the staff open to my requests for grooming changes I want on a monthly basis. Just let them know what you'd like and they'll do it. I'm a happy customer and have two happy, healthy dogs. read more

I had used their service several times. And have been liking it, However the last time I had haircut done it is worst thing that happen to my dog. My dogs hair was cut all uneven and he was left without conditioner it seemed. His skin and coat got so rough and he kept on itching more than normal. I kept nourishing him with coconut oil three times, finally he is back to normal now. Also I have always notice through out several service they are always in RUSH. They didn't inform me that for haircut they needed to give him shower as or else I would have taken my dog's shampoo with me. This place is not for my dog. read more

We think that Suds and Scissors is simply the best.......my Lakeland terrier, Norah, loves going to see Todd and the gang. When we turn into the Crossroads she just goes nuts.....she knows that she is going to have a special day. They do a great job on her groom and she likes the spa treatment. Her favorite days are when Todd has cats in the shop Just watching them keeps her entertained all day long. On the days when there are no cats she gets to watch the Animal Planet. When she comes home, she is beautiful, rested and one happy Lakeland terrier. read more

I take all three of my big dogs to Todd at Suds & Scissors. Todd is an expert groomer who treats the animals with utmost care and respect. I have also been grateful of the support that he has given to a number of local charities - two of which I am closely affiliated with (one supporting foster children and the other providing financial access to arts education for underprivileged children) - it is nice to see business owners giving back to the community the way that Todd does locally here on the Monterey Peninsula. read more

What a great place! My husband and I took our dog to Ocean Beach. She had a great time but needless to say, she was wet and full of sand. We heard about this place from a couple of people and decided to give them a try. The staff was friendly and very caring. She was in and out of there in an hour and they did a great job (she's a cocker and her hair is long). We will be back after another day at the beach! read more

Todd and the team at Suds n' Scissors are the best. I have 4 dogs and they always take all my dogs at one time and give them the best care. All toes are dremmeled perfect, clean, happy and scarfs too -- my four dogs wiggle with excitement when we open the Suds n' Scissors door! Thank you for taking such good care of the babies.
