Henry at Carmel beach after his grooming.
Terry A.

The team here were friendly and professional. Great communication through text and email for scheduling. They have a cute "waiting" room with dog treats. Our dog Henry just loves it there

My dog came home from Carmel Groomers with an open wound. When my husband and I both called separately, there was no accountability taken and no apology. In fact, the owner Tricia was extremely defensive and yelled at me. I am extremely upset by the overall experience and feel terribly for our standard poodle. The grooming was sub par for $185 as well. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

This place is a-little hidden but is a whole in the wall. My husband and I got a standard poodle and while looking around the area this place came on yelp with great reviews, so we decided to gave it a try. WE LOVE THEIR JOB! it doesn't matter who you take your dog with, they both do an amaizing job each one has a style but I will never gonna change groomers. This place treats my fancy dog just how he deserve to be treated. He is happy at drop off and pick up time. His hair always looks great for weeks and weeks even after the grooming. Prices are decent -not overprice- and similar to other chain places around the area.

This was our third visit to Carmel Groomers. In the beginning, our first time and during CoVid-19 shut down. At first it seemed wonderful. Very clean. I liked that. I met Trisha the owner. She seemed nice yet nervous. A very kind man, Salvador did a beautiful groom with our little 5 lb. Yorkie, named Ruby. However, when I picked up my 5 lb Yorkie, she had her ear nipped. Trisha blamed Salvador. He was apologetic and kind. "These things happen," I said. They had stopped the bleeding. I thought it would fill in. It did not. Ruby has a piece of ear missing. I haven't found a really good groomer in the Monterey Peninsula yet. I took her to Carmel Groomers because I couldn't find anyone else. She saw Marisol (not sure if this was her name) on Ruby's second appointment. She was young and I could tell she didn't want to work. This was when people were getting back to work from our CoVid shut down. So I went with it to help businesses. Little Ruby's haircut was "ok" and just not as good as I have had it in the past in East Bay. My little 5 lb. Yorkie is sweet, tiny and well trained too. Third time was not a charm. I called and Trisha answered the phone. We scheduled just a face trim, however, I needed to reschedule that appointment though for two weeks later. I spoke with Trisha on my reschedule call and asked if she could just schedule Ruby then for a full grooming appointment. When I arrived Marisol said Ruby was down for just a face trim. I said can you groom her completely because that's what the owner Trisha rescheduled me for? She said she had only an hour. Marisol asked what I wanted and I said I brought in a piece of paper to describe Ruby's haircut completely. Later on Trisha told me it somehow wasn't scanned into the record there. So I said to Marisol, well I can describe it again and Marisol said "No! Let me find a picture. We looked at the picture in her/work phone. I said can you give her a round cut around her nose? Can you tip her ears and make her paws real tight? Not to cut her hair too much on her bum? Just trim off the long hairs? Not too short? Marisol just look at me with disgust. Marisol had an attitude of disrespect. She hates her job. She doesn't really care for my dog or me. Or most likely no one else. I was being nice. Really. I picked my little Yorkie up one hour later. I looked at Ruby. Carmel Groomers does not know how to cut a Yorkie's dog's hair. At this time the owner, Trisha was there. I looked at Ruby and said, "This is not what Marisol and I talked about. Can you round out her nose. (It's the Teddy Bear nose) Could you please cut her tail a bit more?" They said ok. Yet both with attitudes. I said I needed to move my car. I am at the point at my 30 minute max parking and over two minutes. I quickly went to move my car. 10 minutes. Trisha was ticked off when I got back. I apologized. Marisol had her headphones on in the back. She was with another dog. I really don't know how people work "tuned out" with headphones on. I asked if I could have a different groomer next time because Marisol had an "attitude" and didn't seem to hear me when I explained how to groom Ruby. I said, "That's why I wrote it down. I know some people are audible and some are visual with instructions. I'll right it down again." Trisha became angry at me. I remained calm and said, "It's just miscommunication altogether." Then Trisha dismissed me and my little Ruby as clients. Little two year old Ruby was stressed from Carmel Groomers. Her eyes were watered up and she looked sad. She has been sleeping for 3 hours and is still sleeping. Ruby and I are disappointed....

We've been trusting Carmel Groomers for over a year with our precious goldendoodle. Tricia and her staff are warm, caring, and very professional. They truly make every effort making your per feel safe and cared for. I highly recommend this place!

Chico post haircut

This is a great place. Chico, our anxious adorable 7 lb Havanese puppy, loves it. He just had his second grooming appointment. Both times he had a great experience (once I left the shop he forgot about me and enjoyed the experience!) The groomers did a lovely job, and paid special attention to his eyes, feet and other places where this little furball can get matted easily. (See photos) Most important, Chico likes coming here. Plus, Tricia and her staff are really nice people. We could all use a few more of those in our lives.

Tricia squeezed us in for a quick bath for Trueman, mom's wired hair fox terrier. The establishment was clean and staff was very friendly and professional. We'll be back next time we're in Carmel.

I cannot say enough good things about Carmel Groomers! My 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are like my kids, and I do everything I can to protect their safety. Every time they go to Carmel Groomers, they're excited to be there. Christine has done their grooming each time, and they have always come home happy & with beautiful haircuts. I am thankful to have found a wonderful salon I can trust completely!

Love bringing our Goldendoodle puppy to Carmel Groomers! He always looks and smells GREAT... but, more importantly, he's SO HAPPY afterwards--he has such a great time/experience that I literally have to force him out the door! We are so grateful to the groomers because we can tell that they put in so much love, care and attention to grooming our pup! Thank you!

Little Clover, after a day with the wonderful ladies at Carmel Groomers. She's so fresh and clean!

Love the ladies here! My husband and I recently got a vacation house in Carmel, and our two little furry girls were in dire need of a grooming. Tricia is so kind and knowledgeable. One of our dogs is super easy going, the other is more timid - Tricia and her team were super understanding and treated our girls like they were their own. Our dogs look AMAZING and feel much better after their day at the spa. Our little dog Willow even got a fox cut - she is the prettiest little thing. If I could give 6 stars I would Thank you, Carmel Groomers!

Great found. Our little Maltese -mix looks just adorable. I didn't recognize her after Marzena's masterful haircut. Definitely we are coming back with our dogs.

I brought my new rescue in for a bath and haircut. He is a year and half terrier with a history of abuse. I was scared to bring him in because he has nipped my husband and I didn't want him to bite the groomers. I explained this and they were very understanding and kept for a couple hours before starting the grooming process to make him more comfortable. He looks great and feels so soft. I am ecstatic that it was not a traumatic experience for him and will be bringing him back in the future.

Virginia took our call and was nice at first, let us know there was space the next day and seemed really flexible about drop-off, haircut options, etc. The next morning, we dropped him off. A couple hours later, we get a call letting us know he was ready to be picked up and was told to pick him up immediately because he was barking. Upon pickup, we noticed his hair wasn't really trimmed, it was still really long. It just looked like he got a bath and blowout. We had sent reference photos of a standard puppy cut we normally get for our puppy with our normal groomer, so wasn't sure why his hair was still so long. They said they will cut it shorter but will need another 30 minutes. After another 30 mins, Virginia called us back and very rudely said "you need to pick this dog up, this is the best we're going to be able to do and he's barking and annoying the other dogs." Her tone and demeanor were incredibly rude and unnecessary. What confused me is when we showed up for final pickup, we heard several dogs barking and none of them were the pup we dropped off, I wonder if they were getting similar phone calls. Though they were able to get his hair shorter, it was very poorly done. The legs and underbelly area are still really long and there are several areas where his hair length is uneven and awkward looking. They charged more than our normal groomer, did a really poor job, and Virginia treated us very rudely.

Freya answered my calls and texts before the care, during the care, and after the care. + Timely. Always showed up on time when I had to rush off to an event + Caring. I judge how my two dogs react when she returned the following day. Dogs do not lie and they were happy to see her return. + Helpful. Often I had to rush in and out of my lodge while I had to attend an event and Freya made sure she could help me exit as smoothly as possible and minimize my dogs' separation anxiety + Senior care experience. I see that Freya was able to care for my senior dog who had more issues than the younger sibling. + Great feedback.
