I originally found her through a local Facebook recommendation page, and now I completely understand why so many people speak so highly of her. She was extremely responsive, communicative, and took the time to explain help me learn about my Aussie. Mary did an incredible job gently cleaning my girl's overgrown undercoat out without rushing the process. You can tell she truly cares about the comfort and wellbeing of the animals she works with. She also took extra precautions with my Aussie's sensitive hips, which meant a lot to me. She looks healthier, happier, and so much more comfortable. // cross posted to Google This is a long overdue review as we had our first appointment with Mary at the end of February and it's now May. Mary is absolutely outstanding. I cannot recommend her enough. Our goldendoodle, Gimli, is leash-reactive to other dogs in close quarters, and we were upfront with Mary about this. We also shared that he had previously been blacklisted from a grooming salon after trying (but failing) to nip at another dog. Despite this, Mary graciously agreed to see Gimli on a Sunday. As it turns out, she's actually closed on Sundays, but she offered the appointment so she could guarantee he wouldn't encounter other dogs. She wanted to see who he really is when given the right environment, and that meant the world to us. We dropped him off and got a call just over an hour later. We immediately worried something had gone wrong (since Gimli's visits to Petco usually take 2-4 hours). But when we arrived, he was already beautifully groomed. More importantly, though, he looked HAPPY. He even turned his back to Mary, which may sound small, but for Gimli, it's a huge sign of trust. At Petco, we'd always pick him up looking anxious and withdrawn. This was a COMPLETELY different experience. Mary not only took great care of Gimli, but also gave us thoughtful advice and resources to support his training--both for grooming and his overall behavior. While we haven't been able to schedule a second appointment yet (because we're still working on the groom training), we're making progress and absolutely look forward to coming back. So glad we found Mary! After calling multiple groomers and even being rejected by a few. I explained to Mary that our cocker spaniel is a an elderly dog who is blind and a little fiesty as she only allows me to groom her. Mary went out of her way to give me suggestions on how to make my dog comfortable before our visit. We had to go with a medical style cut because of how matted her hair was. 100% the most UN-gentile (despite her claims), un empathetic and un professional pet 'professional ' I have ever encountered. I have worked in animal welfare for 29 years in Santa Cruz county, the Central Coast and the Central Valley and I have never encountered any person with such little care for the animals she serves (except for when I was an Animal Control Officer for 13 years and dealt with hoarders and abusers). I moved to Prunedale 10 years ago and she was recommended for cat grooming. I had recently rescued a cat (I am the ED for a 501 c3 animal rescue in SC County since 2008) who was heavily matted and I wanted to have her clipped locally. The owner o this establishment very roughly handled her (FYI I am a former animal shelter employee and I understand that sometimes you have to handle an animal very tightly). This was not at all what I had ever experienced. She was rough in a way that was not humane at all and she almost seemed to like it. AS a former ACO I have experienced this as well and it is very disturbing. While I watched her treat my sweet 8 pound cat in such a rough manner I also saw several dogs that had been recently bathed and were still wet. They were housed in a cement kennel without any bedding. They were shivering on the cold cement. As a former animal shelter worker and manager I would have immediately fired anyone who had housed an animal that way. She did not care at all. I mentioned it to her two staff who were very young girls and they did not want to bring it up with the owner. And then lets move on the the fact that she BREEDS dogs when dogs are being euthnized EVERYDAY in Monterey animal shelters (the county shelter on Hitchcock and the SPCA on Hwy 68) because there are not enough homes. Is this really the person you want to groom your animals? If so, why don't you watch while she does it. And do you care about homeless, unwanted animals in animal shelters? Then please do not support a breeder like her. read more

The service would have been great, but unfortunately she wasnt careful enough when cutting our cat's nails and she cut the quick quite severely. He was bleeding and has become quite scared of us due to the experience and is not being his normal self. The clippers she used also seemed way too big for his nails, but I'm not sure if that was a factor or not. Otherwise, it was quick and affordable. read more

Mary is amazing! She is so well-versed with dogs, and saved me when I was in a unfortunate situation by watching my dog. She had never met him, and was so attentive and was so easy to get a hold of and made me feel at ease while leaving him there. We took our two pomeranian into get bathed and a sanitary clean up ( feet, butt and genitals) along with a clean up around the ears.... First impression was that they were very nice and the shop was clean..... when we got our pups, they were clean and smelt great, but.... the face hair was all cut short and their ear hair was cut to point the ears instead of rounding them out even though we specified we only wanted a very small trim and round ears, the gentile area and tummy where not trimmed. They now look like fluffy balls with a short haired chihuahua head. Pomeranians are known for their long beautiful hair. Basically, they will be staying home until their hair grows back because they look ridiculous. Overall if she didnt feel confident to work on fluffy poms she could have communicated that but now we have two butchered pups. read more
