I recently had 21st Century repaint the exterior of my house. You can find that review here as…read morewell. I'm writing a new one because this is a different project. After they finished painting my house, a few weeks later after heavy rains I noticed a stain on the ceiling of a guest bedroom. I knew immediately it was the long nagging problem of the "dead valley" along my roof. The house was designed and built according to the architect's drawings to have the roof of the first floor bedroom run into the siding of the house. It was a short "run" and rainfall should go quickly into the gutters. But, this was built under a big, old oak tree and for many years, I've had leaves and twigs built up, damming up the water. If I can remember it, I have to get up on a ladder with a rake and rake the leaves away from where the shingles meet the siding. After one major hailstorm, I had the roof replaced and when they replacing it, I asked them to build something to reduce the leave/branch damming. They did build it, but apparently not big enough. It lasted probably 14-15 years until this recent Spring. Since I had a good experience with 21st Century, I called them out to give me a bid on repairing what was probably rotted trim and exposed flashing and other rot elsewhere. And while they were at it, I asked them to build me a better diverter away from the siding. They came out and took care of it in a day. The guy was there from 8:30 to 5:00, taking a break for lunch, but got it done. Since they were also the painters, they asked me for the leftover paint they left for me (for touch-up) that came in handy as they had to replace the rotten trim and as it turned out a section of the roof decking. Attached are the pictures they took for the bid and then afterwards when they were complete. They were detailed enough to ask me first, "hey, this diversion we're putting in is a lighter grey then your shingles. Are you okay with that? We can go back and get darker materials". I said that was fine. No one can see that part of the roof and so it was trivial to me. The only negative thing from the painting and the roofing experience is so minor it's not worth taking away a star is that there will be a gap between when you sign and return the contract and they contact you about scheduling the actual work. In both cases, I had to drop them a line to remind them I was in the queue. Being a service that can't work when it's raining, I can understand that they have days where scheduled work is delayed and that causes a snowball effect of delays.

So, we developed an informal prospectus based on this assumption. Sometime later, we happened upon a poster advertising That 1 Painter, a licensed and bonded enterprise based in the Treasure Valley. Their reviews were strongly favorable and more so noteworthy was that T1P had been voted Best of Idaho twice (among many other plaudits)! So, when we were ready we contacted them with the intention that they would provide us with our first estimate. We were visited by Ruth Brinton, a professional house painter and owner of T1P. She presented well with confidence and comprehension. She looked at many things that we would have likely overlooked. She made many observations and shared her thoughts with us. She also looked at the property and made recommendations regarding colors to not only enhance the house, but also to optimize the use of colors that would give balance and compliment to the property on the whole. The next day, we received the detailed estimate for the job. We were stunned to learn that T1P would do the job for well below our most auspicious estimates! All the information we had gathered convinced us that we did not have need to solicit another estimate. Within a month's time (from initial contact) our house was very nicely and professionally cleaned, prepped and painted. The crew performing the work were polite, friendly and professional. Clearly, the team at T1P are committed to customer service and satisfaction. We offer a solid 5-star review and our full endorsement.

They charged us $300 for a 1,509 sq ft house -- despite the fact that the home had brand-new blinds, brand-new flooring in all three bedrooms, and no refrigerator to clean. This was absolutely not a discounted or bargain price. Before hiring them, they specifically promised they would come back and address anything my realtor found unsatisfactory after the cleaning. Based on that promise, I paid them in full immediately after the service. A few days later, my realtor inspected the property and found the cleaning quality extremely poor. She provided them with a detailed list of areas that were still dirty. One toilet was so poorly cleaned that my realtor cleaned it herself. On another toilet, instead of properly scrubbing blue staining inside the toilet, they simply suggested replacing the whole toilet altogether. That alone tells you the level of effort they put into the job. The dishwasher was still dirty. Windows, baseboards, drawers, and other surfaces were visibly dirty. There were even cobwebs still hanging on the walls. When I contacted them to come back as promised, their attitude immediately changed. They were rude, dismissive, and kept delaying scheduling. I gave them my husband's number to coordinate a return visit, and they said the earliest they could come was Saturday (nearly a week later). Then on Saturday, they suddenly claimed they would not return unless someone was physically present at the house to inspect their work. This made absolutely no sense because they already knew the property was vacant and that we were remote landlords. They had completed the original cleaning using an access code with nobody present, so this was clearly just an excuse to avoid honoring their promise. After that, they stopped answering calls from both me and my husband entirely. The house was still dirty, and we ended up paying another cleaning company to redo the entire job properly. Unprofessional, dishonest, and extremely poor-quality work. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company. Respond to the owner's response: you lied! (1) The toilet was totally cleanable. The second cleaner cleaned this toilet with no problem. It looks very clean now. But you even didn't try and simply asked me to buy a new toilet. What a moron. Another toilet shown in the picture showed how my realtor easily cleaned after you still left it dirty! (2) my husband said he didn't clearly agree to have someone come for you because your accent was strong and he couldn't clearly hear what you said. Simply not realistic for us to agree. When he called you, you also didn't tell him which day and time you could come back to clean the house either. Later when I called you to come back, I already explained to you why we couldn't have someone on the spot waiting for you because it was an empty house and we couldn't hire someone to wait for you there. You knew this already even before we let you clean our house at the beginning, because we gave you the house access code to come in and nobody was there! We told you our realtor would come a few days later to check and asked if you could come back to finish cleaning if she pointed out dirty places. You agreed which is why we gave you money to do it. Unfortunately we paid you in full on the same day you did the cleaning. So you can become a moron later. You simply didn't want to keep your own promise to come back to finish cleaning. You could simply say you would come back to finish cleaning what we pointed out and no more trips if my realtor found out more later. However you simply refused to answer our phone and disappeared! If you continue to lie in public here after causing us so much stress and financial loss by hiring a second cleaner, I will further seek related third party for help. I don't believe such a horribly bad company could lie like this in public.

While I don't believe we will be using them moving forward I respect that they stand behind their work. Our former housekeeper moved so we recently had Purple Fig come in for an initial cleaning with the hopes of setting up a twice a month or bi-weekly service. We were quoted ~$280 per visit which was higher than our old housekeeper but seemed reasonable enough given they bring multiple people. They claimed the first clean was to bring things up to the "Purple Fig Standard" but when I got home after the cleaning I genuinely had trouble understanding what they did while in my home other than leave a candy cane on our kitchen counter. They don't do any laundry (even bed sheets/towels, not looking for a wash and fold service here) which is frustrating but I can somewhat understand given the time a laundry cycle takes. The most egregious offense was that they apparently also dont do any dishes . Again, i'm not asking for a post-Thanksgiving dinner cleanup here but we had a few pans and plates from last nights dinner in the sink and they didn't touch them. Overall, my wife and I struggled to understand what they really did to clean our home. When we decided not to continue with the bi-weekly service they then retroactively charged us $470 for the initial clean. For the price they charge not doing laundry or even tidying up the kitchen when there are a few dishes in the sink doesn't feel worth it. The best part of a cleaning service is coming home to a clean house that you can see and feel as soon as you walk through the door. With Purple Fig, I walked in to a house that felt like the cleaning service had to reschedule for another day

Manny and Maria are so awesome!!! I support local family businesses and this is certainly an awesome one! I called two days before Thanksgiving and asked if they could make it that day completly expecting a NO. Manny was very polite and said that that would be no problem. Now talk about kind and patient, I had to call and move times twice!!!! When I arrived at my house, which was after dark, I was greeted with a smile and warm handshake from Manny. Moments later after letting the dogs outside so they could begin I met lovely Maria who was as sweet and hardworking as anyone I'd met. They not only did an amazing job they offered me options for my pet situation that I didn't even know existed. They are truly good people and the kind of people we want servicing our community. Well-earned five stars. My pup once attempted to dig through to China, under my door. He only made it to the base-board. I had reached out to another contractor days before I had a good time for the repair, but kept chasing them through phone calls and text, trying to get them out... I made one call to Manuel at Centex, and he was available on the same-day, a Sunday, even. He was right on time, came well prepared, and to work quickly. Very proficient, the job involved cutting the damage section of carpet out, replacing the foam, and then matching a donor piece I had on hand to the installed carpet. Manuel is very friendly and personable, and carried some interesting conversation during the job. Ask him about his pet Blue Jay, "Blue"! The final repair was excellent, the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Manuel and Centex Carpet & Paint. read more

Turned to Centex to prep my home for lease. Manuel and Maria provided excellent service and identified some trouble spots that needed to be addressed prior to new tenants arrival. Carpet deep cleaning, paint touchup, weather stripping and house cleaning were the services I requested. They went the extra mile to ensure great service with competitive rates. If an additional fix or service was spotted during service they contacted me asking if I wanted the additional service and quoted it. I agreed with all their recommendations, stuff I would not have spotted but would've been noticed by new inhabitants. From pulling out difficult to remove refrigerator glass panels to deep clean to pet damage I never felt I was being upsold on anything. I plan on using Centex in the future and highly recommend Manuel and Maria. read more

Manny is awesome! We had a major problem with our own cats marking our carpets and furniture. We tried to clean it with a home remedy that filled the house with an awful smell that was unbearable. It was Manny to the rescue. He came out that afternoon and cleaned our carpets eliminating the smell immediately. And the carpets have never looked better and eliminated the odor. Today he came by and cleaned our furniture that had multiple set-in stains on it. It is suede furniture which is particularly difficult to clean. Manny cleaned it so well it looks as good as new!!! I would recommend Manny and Maria to anyone that needs their carpets or furniture cleaned and especially if you have pets. They can get rid of the odors and the stains. read more

Manuel and Maria did a great job on our carpets, couches and dining room chair cushions. When they arrived and saw the carpets, they recommended the extra scrubbing and I'm glad they did as they look like new in the high traffic areas. We also added the protectant on the high traffic areas and the carpets have resisted stains. I spilled coffee a week after they cleaned them and just used a damp sponge to wipe it and there's no stain at all. They also did a great job on our couch and dining room table seat cushions. Great service! When I called they had a friendly and quick response, they asked me for the location, and immediately they gave me a quote. The price was really affordable, I immediately asked when was the soonest they could come out to my home to clean the carpet in my living room. THE BEST!!! And I don't say that often. My only wish I have is that I found this company sooner!! Manuel and Maria have been so kind and have dine just a phenomenal job. last minute requests popped up and they had no issues managing the changes. they are very reasonable but most importantly very good at what they do. By far the BEST carpeting cleaning I have ever gotten. Closed on my new (to me) house in Round Rock and once I saw the bare walls decided I had to paint everything before I moved in. Scrambled to find someone and called Manuel based on the Yelp reviews. Manuel and his wife Maria helped us prepare our home for sale, she spent 10 hrs until our wooden floors sparkled and the rest of the house shined. He repaired our chimney and other areas of the outside and touched up a number of paint spots inside. I just wanted to give a quick review on this awesome company. Manuel and Maria cleaned all my floors (hardwood, tile and carpet), cleaned the bathrooms, and all the lights. Not only did they do all that, but they did it very quickly and at a very reasonable price. They were friendly and thorough. If the need ever comes up again, I will definitely be giving them a call. Prompt and diligent. Highly recommend! I would highly recommend Centex Carpet Cleaners. They effectively cleaned out a bedroom carpet that had severe urine stains and odor. Not only did they deep clean the carpet, they changed the padding beneath the carpet and repaired some of the tears( that were caused by my pet) too. I did some homework and called my daughter who met you at our property to let you in, Here is everything I found: -On your website, it says that you bond and insure your staff, but you said in your reply that you work by yourself. Which one is a lie? -Your website lists your business address as Suite 306. My husband is familiar with the area, and states that the address you listed is a trailer park. I am sure that is a really nice suite. Another lie. -I noticed that when you get an unfavorable review, you say it wasn't you or your company. Is this your standard response or yet another lie? -Should I go into the conversation you had with our daughter while you were at our property? Once he was done shampooing the carpets, I went to check on the rest of the cleaning services and noticed that the cleaners didn't scrub my shower or tub, left the bathroom sink with dirt streaks, and the countertops grimy. Waiting to hear back from the owners but this was not a good experience, and I absolutely do not recommend. In fact, I think their other 5 start reviews are fake. Oh, and they were late. Even better, we received a text heads-up when they were on their way. Before Roger even rang the doorbell, he had all of the equipment from the S.W.A.T. van unloaded and ready to go! I showed him the rooms we were hoping to clean, and I apologized for the section of carpet in the corner of our bedroom that our dog had destroyed by scratching/digging a "bed". He said, "If you're interested, this is something we could repair in the future- up to you." (we just may do that!)
