I have been diving and snorkeling the Cenotes for many years. Always wanted to try Dos Ojos and drove the family 2 hours (each way) to give it a shot. What was supposed to be the highlight of my trip turned out to be the worst part by far! After paying the far above normal fee, and heading to the water, I was told that I MUST wear a life vest!? Don't get me wrong, glad they provide them for people who choose to wear them. But, I personally have no interest whatsoever in snorkeling with a life vest or being a patron of any establishment that would REQUIRE me to. I immediately told them I no longer desire to utilize any part of their establishment and would need a full refund. It took nearly 30 minutes of haggling and an escalation before they finally returned my money! If you are looking for fun and adventure, stay far away from this place! If you want the Disney experience on some guided tour, I didn't even see the water, so I can't help you. I know many people appreciate wearing safety devices and I am happy they do. But it makes me sick to see this compulsory extreme safetyism that is spreading like a cancer through the world! Please do not support this trend or any business that takes part in it! read more

Really awesome experience swimming in natural caves filled with stalagmites, stalactites, and fish. As an added bonus, the fresh cave water made my hair look amazing. If you're snorkeling, I recommend paying extra to go with the guide so you can go into the batcave, which requires going through a narrow little corridor. I wish they'd recommended full-body wetsuits, as I didn't realize we'd be down there for about an hour straight, and it gets very, very cold. This is definitely not appropriate for the claustrophobic or for small children. read more

Cannot stress this enough: if you aren't diving, make sure you do the snorkel tour!! It costs 500 pesos and is payable at the "Snorkel Tour" building where you turn off the highway. The tour includes a guide, mask, snorkel, life vest, wet suit and fins, and the guide takes you to places you would never be able to go on your own. It was the most amazing experience to be swimming in the pitch dark through narrow stalagtites (mites?) to get to a cave filled with hundreds of tiny squirming bats. Outside of the tour: Dos Ojos is a pretty cool cenote. It has two eyes: make sure you go to the second eye instead of staying at the first one -- the second one is much larger and less crowded, though less deep. The water is crystal clear blue and refreshing, and there are hammocks and benches near the second eye for relaxing the day away. My husband did a two-tank dive here with the Dos Ojos scuba dive shop right at the entrance, which was pretty convenient and they took him in at last minute when another Tulum area shops was full. read more

It really is worth going. They do a great job guiding you through every step, from changing clothes, getting the right gear, guiding you from place to place, cave to cave, takes care of our shoes, etc. The one very amazing thing: we had a toddler, a 16 month baby and a 7 year old with us and they have wet suit and life jacket in the right size. read more

This was an awesome experience. I could only imagine how much more awesome it would be if we actually scuba dived down into the caves. We swam somewhat deep and the water was crystal clear. It wasn't too busy with people so we were able to swim freely. If you have plenty of time, do the small cenote first, then the big one, just for the build up. If you're short on time, I'd suggest doing the big one only. read more

WOW! We were absolutely blown way by the beauty of this "underwater world" It is the first ever cavern dive we have been to. At first, I was a little scared at the darkness of the cave, but after a while, it was great! It's great for snorkeling and from what I've seen, scuba diving too. For snorkeling, we paid $25 per person and $12 for mask and snorkel. The fins were extra charge. We didn't think we needed it. It ended up, we didn't really need a life jacket or fins, but that's us. We have our own snorkel equipment we wished we brought. If you own one, bring! :) We did not have a flashlight. I think it would have helped a little. I think the flashlight come with the tour package. It did not come with the mask and snorkel rentals. While we snorkeled at the cenote, it was a nice "break" from the blazing sun. It was in a cave with a small open spot. The water was amazingly clear, blue-aquaish and very fresh. We felt rejuvenated! There were rocks underwater to see, fishes to watch and the people were very friendly. It was a little crowded with the tours (you may opt for tour package, we didn't), but don't let the crowd keep you away from coming! There are 2 eyes at this cenote-- we liked the 2nd one better. It was longer and more cave to see. The 1st eye was smaller, but both were magical. Be forewarned that there are more places to go/see scuba diving than snorkeling, but it's still worth it! Oh, the water was COLD! :) But again, it was very refreshing. And, I think I saw bats. I saw some flying in, but I wasn't distracted by them until after the tour... I went "were they bats?" Yeah, I think they were. We ate lunch at Juanita's across from the dive shop. Their guacamole dip was so good. Their chicken sandwich was pretty good, but not a must get. read more

Perfectly beautiful and a little scary wrapped up in one for this city slicker. Prob not necessary to scuba or snorkel. Just swim and take your time. There is some avg shopping and a cute restaurant to grab a bite. Pro-tip: no need for aqua socks. Also, bring a waterproof bag to put your phone in to take underwater video. The people of the Mayan community are so very friendly and kind. They are gracious and welcoming. This community shares their earnings as a tribe. So interesting. They work hard and share the beautiful cenote experience with tourists. We have a great lunch - authentic Mexican - tacos and tortilla chips. This was our second trip there. Fun cenote to visit! The waters were really clear and blue, it's also interesting to watch the divers below look at things with their flash light. Only things is that it can get a little bit cold because it is a cave and there isn't a lot of sun. If looking for more cenotes to visit, I definitely recommend Nicte Ha cenote. It's right next to this one and is a BEAUTY!! read more

This was an amazing experience for me and my friend! We opted for the guided snorkeling tour and had the good fortune of getting Hugo as our leader. He was so kind and patient with everyone in our group. He talked a lot about the history and culture of the place and really seemed to enjoy what he does. Everything about this place was beautiful and dreamy, even more so than any picture represents. We spent time in both cenotes and got to hang out in the bat cave with our bat friends! There was an underwater photographer for hire if you wanted images to take home on a cd, starting at around 20 dollars U.S. The entire guided tour lasted about two hours and was worth every penny. (900 pesos for two people) A little chilly at times in the water but if you keep your body moving, you'll be fine. *Note to claustrophobic people, this tour may not be for you as there are a lot of tight spaces and parts when you mainly have to swim under water to get to the next part of the path. read more

Either walk the mile or so from entry to the cenote, take a taxi or rent a bike for $80 pesos each. $50 pesos each for snorkel and mask. $80 pesos for 2 cold cervesas after you have enjoyed the cenote. Altogether a great experience; beautiful jungle, friendly fish and a gorgeous underwater world. read more

He was very friendly, professional, and informative(I don't speak fluent Spanish and the guide was very understanding and good with English). So glad I read up on my yelps and we were able to snag a spontaneous visit here instead of a more touristy cenote. We opted for the private tour since we were traveling with a 5 y/o and Hugo was our guy. He patiently helped us select our equipment and test it out, and he even lent me his chanclas (flip flops) since I was unprepared. After practicing in cenote 1, he took us to cenote 2 and when my daughter got tired, he navigated her on the life vest through the myriad cave turns. He was great, cenotes were awesome and not too crowded. The restaurant also was surprisingly delicious and everything priced fairly. Highly recommended if you are up for adventure! read more

Horrible experience at Dos Ojos. They advertised it to be this beautiful experience through pictures before we payed the over priced $25 per person snorkel fee. When we were finally able to see the Cenote (they wouldn't let us even see it unless we paid) it was a black caved in pool that did not live up the the expectations they made it out to be. We never touched the water or took any pictures and we returned to the booth asking for our money back due to the false advertisement. They wouldn't give us our money back because we're American & they thought lesser of us. We were level headed at the beginning saying it's not what we paid for and we didn't use the service so we wanted to take our business elsewhere and they wouldn't give us our money back. They didn't have us sign any papers or contracts throughout the entire experience, only on THEIR word of mouth. Mexico does not have a code of ethics like other countries and in these touristy areas they take advantage of Americans because they think they can. To them, the customer is never right. Very unprofessional and extremely scummy, but welcome to Mexico. To not do business here. Cenote Azul is the right place to go ($4 and stunning). These guys are just looking to scum a buck off tourists. No sense of reason with Dos Ojos. Never used the service and never got our money back. Essentially, they stole from us and they knew they were stealing. Scuba diving might be great but it is absolutely not worth the snorkeling fee. These people do not deserve your money and they definitely don't have the right to steal from anyone. Very disappointing. read more

We stayed in Soliman Bay for a week. We went to Xcaret and to another small cenote. Dos Ojos is by far the best! We had a great tour guide named Miguel that shared the story of the Mayans that live on that land and was very patient while we took pictures and video. I highly recommend this Cenote over all the others and ask for Miguel! Bat cave was awesome! read more

Update: Another reviewer noted her price was $12 per person. However, that is an apples to oranges comparison. I agree with her price, which excludes snorkel equipment, wetsuit and guide. Being in the water for an hour without a wetsuit can get too cold. You really need a guide. Our guide was very helpful and looked out for us and showed us some fossils, which we would have never found on our own. You cannot snorkel into the bat cave without a guide. The bat cave is by far the nicest part. Also, without a helmet, you really need to be mindful of injuring your head. This is too dangerous without a guide, unless you have a helmet and really know your cave diving. read more

Very neat! Definitely worth checking out. We went on a cloudy and slightly drizzly day and it was wonderful. The water was very clear and it was neat to swim around with our snorkel gear and check out the stalagmites and fish. We brought our own snorkel gear but they had rentals there as well. Great cenote. you go in 3 cenotes for the price of 1. We had a group of 13 so we spent the money and paid for the guide. It was really nice. The bat cave was crazy. So many bats hanging above you. It did smell in there due to the amount of them. It was my second cenote. It was very pretty and worth it. I would also recommend Sac Atun. It is right next door. read more

This cenote was awesome because of how big it is! The second eye is bigger and was my favorite because it almost wrapped around 360 degrees.

What a fantastic dive! First cavern dive, can be intimidating but what amazing stalactites and experience it was. No matter how experienced you are, you should never do this dive without a proper instructor. They are expertise in cave/cavern diving. We went with Scuba Tulum, Ruby as our guide. Loved it! Took a colectivo from Tulum (Taxi driver wanted 210 pesos- colectivo was 25 each). We got dropped off at the highway and opted to walk the 2 km to the cenote- it was a nice walk and once we got there, we were more than ready to get in the water. The water is crystal clear, and there are many beautiful underwater rock formations to look at. Bring some goggles or rent them there. It definitely made me want to learn to scuba! We just paid the 200 pesos each admission, then spent a few hours there. Well worth it! What a great experience. We've never done anything like it. The water isn't that cold, either. read more

My husband & I first came to Dos Ojos via a cruise excursion in February. This same year we are back in August to enjoy it again. My family has visited other cenotes, but this is by far our favorite. It's huge, deep, & is so cool to snorkel in. I highly suggest that you take a peek under water to get the full effect. It's amazing! The other day there were bats flying around which made the experience even better. The aren't interested in bothering the swimmers, so nothing to worry about. There is a little restaurant which we haven't tried, but it is nice to be able to grab a bite after you tire yourself out in the cenotes. read more

Another good cenote for scuba diving. It is very busy here as all the tourists seem to go here for either diving or swimming. Its a cavern dive which is very cool. At times you feel as if you are in a cave but it is not scary in any way. Not a lot of fish but the formations make up for that. Its very pretty. read more
