We completed our e-learning and pool sessions at a local dive shop before finishing our four open water training dives with Blue Life over two days to earn our PADI Open Water certification. On the third day, we explored the beautiful reefs of Cozumel. The entire Blue Life team was professional, friendly, and welcoming. This is a great dive shop! Oscar was my instructor both days. He was extremely professional and relaxed at the same time. I did the Open Water refresher the first day, plus two dives at Playa del Carmen. The refresher was extremely useful as I hadn't dived in 3 years. The dives at Playa del Carmen were cool, particularly the second one, Moc Che, as it had a lot more coral and animal life. Oscar was very reassuring, calm and helpful. It was a 1-on-1 experience which makes it so much better. This made me return two days later for a Cozumel dive. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow crossing from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. However, Gaby, at Blue Life was really professional and costumer oriented and made sure all of us diving that day agreed on a compromise of what to do so that we could still dive. There were trade-offs as not everyone had enough experience to do caving, but in the end we ended up at Casa Cenotes which allows Open Water divers to experience caverning. It was a very new experience for all of ius. Oscar got some delicious tacos for us on the way there, as well as snacks and even had a beer for us at the end of the dive. Will certainly come back to Blue Life next time I go to Playa del Carmen. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Blue Life - they are the best, highly highly recommend!!! I reached out to them after they came recommended from local dive friends. I was planning a trip to Tulum primarily to dive in the cenotes. I was a bit nervous as I can get anxiety in small spaces, however I had heard such great things and that combined with my need for new adventure got me interested. Right away the communication with Gaby and the rest of the shop helped me feel more comfortable, she was very responsive and answered all my questions. That continued throughout the trip as my plans changed and I wanted to add another dive day, Gaby made it happen so I was able to also get in the ocean! Then there's the amazing dive guides, Keke knows Cozumel so well and made my experience one of a kind. I spent the most time with Thomas in the cenotes, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide! My nerves and anxiety melted away, I felt so safe and comfortable knowing he was there. He was a wealth of knowledge and was happy to share it with me which I so appreciate as I continue to learn and grow as a diver. Best dive shop in Playa del Carmen! My girlfriend and I used this dive shop to obtain our Advanced Open Water Certification. They make the process so easy and convenient! We did two dives a day over three days (Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and Cenotes). Blue Life puts an emphasis on a strong relationship between the instructors and students. Every day we had a student to guide ratio of 2:1. As we were out on our dives, it was clear that other shops were having way more students/divers per guide (i.e. 4:1 or even 5:1). We definitely enjoyed being able to develop a more personal relationship with our guides each day and also be sure we were learning as much as we could since we received much more individual attention. Over our three days we had two different instructors: Mireia and Thomas. Both of them were amazing and extremely knowledgeable! They both clearly have such a strong love for diving that is extremely infectious. When we come back (which we definitely will), we hope to dive with them again! It's clear that Blue Life only hires the best, and I'm sure that every instructor they use has a great attitude and passion for guiding/instructing, and not to mention tons experience. Overall, we could not recommend this shop more. Anyone coming to Playa del Carmen should use Blue Life!! read more

I did the referral with Blue Life and am so happy I did. They were great! Everything was super smooth and the instructor was calm and sweet (thanks so much Mireia). Note, the location has changed. We drove to the boat with our gear. The tanks were already on board. It's a true dive boat where tanks line each side of it and you switch yours out between dives, as expected. They supplied all my gear. As for the actual diving, I saw 3 turtles, a stingray eels, lobster, flounder, red snapper, urchins, and plenty of other types of fish. Seeing turtles (and 3 times!) was incredible. read more

A terrific dive shop located within Playa (has additional locations in Tulum and Cozumel as well! not sure about Cancun). We did multiple excursions with this dive shop and they were all spectacular! We did two cenote dives (dos ojos and the pit which I highly recommend!), the whale shark excursion (which I also highly recommend!) as well as the Cozumel reef dive. All excursions were absolutely wonderful, the staff was extremely friendly and professional, and our experience was priceless. There was some weather issues with the whale sharks, so they worked with our schedule to get some time on the calendar to make it happen, which that day was absolutely perfect. We also had to reschedule something and they were extremely accommodating for us, which they technically didn't have to, but made our life so much easier as well as enhanced our experience. The people that are actually working at the shop (Carolina and Morris) are extremely nice people and make you smile because of their wonderful attitude. Super contagious. They are also extremely responsive if you need anything at all via phone or whatsapp. If you are looking for a dive shop in this area, look no further. Reach out to this company. There are many dive shops to choose from in the Playa Del Carmen and Cancun area. These guys are a five-star PADI dive shop. I picked them from the PADI site and their own website was pretty informative. I emailed them what I was looking to do and they were very responsive and set up a great package for my son and I. I can't say enough about Scuba Steve, our dive master, who was unbelievably professional and highly experienced and at the same time very accommodating and made the whole thing fun. I've worked with a lot of guides on various adventures all around the world over the last 25 years and he's easily in the top three. I was down in late February to do my Intro to Cave Diving course with Hugo. This was my second trip down to Blue Life, having done the Sidemount and Intro to Cavern course with Mauro in November. I can't say enough about the professionalism of Mauro, Frank and Hugo, but the patience in which these extremely experienced experts work to develop proficient divers for operating in such high risk environments. They are confident, yet not arrogant, and genuinely warm and kind. I'll be coming back down in May to complete my Full Cave Diving course. So being my third trip back with these guys should say all that needs to be said. Communication with Frank and Hugo is clear and regular. Prices may run a little more than some other sites, but I've taken five trips down to Cozumel and Playa over the years. Four different shops, but Frank and Hugo have all my business going forward. We were so disappointed in our visit to Blue life. We specifically wanted to dive in the ocean, and we told them that over the phone. They offered a trip to cenote, and we said we didn't want to dive there. After we arrived at the shop, they said we were going to cenote (45 minute drive away!) The cenote was pretty... but only for snorkeling. There was absolutely NO reason to scuba there. Only about 15 feet deep, and the only creatures were tiny fish and a few crabs. Not worth the $130 and taxi cab into the shop. On the bright side, the instructor took us for a great lunch! read more

Just spent the week diving with Blue Life. From the moment we booked prior to our trip the communication from the team was excellent. On arrival we were greeted personally and treated like friends, everyone was extremely professional and efficient. The dive shop is well run under the supervision of Frank, Hugo and their management team. The instructors were also great! I had a 1on1 dive with Kari, she knew the reefs well and was able to pint out lots of marine life. My husband finished off his open water course with Anna who did a great job and getting him trained and finishing off his open water dives. Our final day of diving was one of the cenotes with Luca, an amazing experience! Luca has a real passion for what he does and conveys the importance of cavern diving yet makes it fun. If I could give Blue Life more than 5 stars, I would! I originally was only going to do my Open Water certification with them, but because of the valuable insight and knowledge that they provided, I ended up booking two more extra days of diving and got my Nitrox Certification as well. I had two dive instructors throughout my time with Blue Dive, Wilhelm and Pierre, both of whom were the best scuba instructors I could ask for! They took the time to make sure my knowledge and skills were ready for the open water and cenote diving. Their calm demeanor and composure in the water made me feel safe the entire time, especially when conditions in the water were less than ideal. I'm a big believer of receiving critique, and both Wilhelm and Pierre made sure I received the constructive feedback that I needed to bring my scuba skills to the next level. Blue Life has set the bar for dive shops. The quality of service is amazing! Our trip started with Andrea, who seems to be able to answer any question at any time of day, being extremely responsive and helpful. Arriving at the shop, we were greeted by Leo. I considered Leo the MVP of this all-star team. He helped with equipment, answered questions, and even went out of his way to escort others in my group to see a doctor. Some of our gear was temporarily lost by the airline, but he offered to deal with the airline to ensure that everything was delivered directly to the shop. Our first 2 days in the water was with Hugo for TDI Sidemount certification. You can tell this guy loves his job. Hugo is laid back and patient, but also very encouraging at the same time. Even though I was only able to do the Sidemount course, he was preparing me for more in-depth Cavern/ Cave courses that I would eventually take. I was never really interested in tech diving before, but Hugo has inspired me to go further. After completing the Sidemount course, we did the Taste of Riviera Maya with Steve for sites in Playa Del Carmen on the first day and Cozumel on the second day. Steve was great in explaining all the details of the dives up front, and knew just about every fish we would encounter. He executed his dive plan flawlessly. In Cozumel, we drifted for about 1.5 miles for our first dive and 2.5 miles for our second. The last day of TRM was cenotes El Pit and Dos Ojos with Daniel. Daniel was also very careful to explain the history and details of his sites. His excitement for diving the cenotes was infectious. He even spent a little time at the end to help me with my back fin technique, which I still can't do, but not from lack of effort on Daniel's part. Finally, our last day with Blue Life was to snorkel with Whale Sharks, and even though this excursion was outsourced to another group, they still exhibited the same level of quality, hospitality, and passion that Blue Life did. My time with Blue Life was a life changing experience, being able to do/ see things that I never thought I could. Everything is top notch. The guides did not just ask us to follow them and then point out things to look at, which is perfectly acceptable experience. But went above and beyond in that they are sincere about educating not just about the area and history, but always offering guidance on how to improve as a diver. They will not hesitate to spend a few extra days with you to get stuff right. Our Sidemount course with Hugo was scheduled for 2 days, but he was prepared to go an extra day if needed. The same was offered to my older brother during his Open Water course. Hospitality was 5 star at Blue Life. I hardly had to lift a finger, and all the food options they provided were great. I would not be exaggerating when I said that they all treated us like family. This is a very special shop and I can't wait to go back. Thank you again Blue Life! read more

When I travel I am generally disappointed by the dive operations that I encounter. While the diving may be stunning many of them lack the basic foundations in safety and standards. This is not the case at Blue Life. Frank was very accommodating in helping me get my cave course squared away along with some open water dives for me and my family very last minute. Hugo my instructor is extremely knowledgeable and taught an incredible course that was both very challenging and rewarding. During my stay I also had one day to get some open water dives done. Sofia was a terrific guide and her passion for her work is evident, she gave us nice long dives with plenty of stunning marine life. By the end of my stay I felt as at home at Blue Life as I do at my local dive shop. I could not recommend a better dive operation, no one does it better than Blue Life! I was in Playa Del Carmen after doing a race in Cozumel and was looking for a company to take me on a Cenonte dive. Found Blue Life and schedule a dive on short notice. They were easy to deal with on the phone, had a nice clean open air shop right near my hotel. Sarah took us to Dos Ojos for the dive. This was a beautiful dive location for my first Cenote. She explained everything we need to know about making the dive and took the time to make sure everyone in the group was comfortable before we started. We made two dives with snacks in between which Blue Life provided. After our dive Sarah drove us back to the shop in their van. My wife and I stayed 5 days in PDC and spent 3 days diving with Blue Life. I spoke with a few other shops (all highly rated on TA), and went with Fernanda at BL since she was great at communicating quickly and thoroughly via email. We did a wreck dive in PDC with Hugo the first day. He was awesome in making sure my wife was comfortable the entire time and guided her safely through the wreck. It was an incredible experience going through the multiple levels of the wreck. Our next two days were spent diving Cozumel with Valentina. She was amazing (always smiling even though it's an incredibly physically demanding job moving people and equipment from PDC to Cozumel daily) and went out of her way to make sure everyone was comfortable and safe the entire time. Vale even spotted the reclusive Splendid Toadfish and we were all able to catch a view of the little bearded guy! We dove the Santa Rosa wall and Palancar with BL and can't wait to continue exploring PDC/Cozumel with them in the future! read more

My husband & I traveled to MX late April & were a little apprehensive to dive since it had been 10+ years since having dove. Blue Life was great at answering all questions before our arrival, including very detailed directions. Our first dive was with Steve & he was so very patient with us. Friendly & informative... we were his only divers to look after that morning so it made for a wonderful experience. While waiting any time at the shop, sweet Carolina at the desk would offer us mosquito spray, water, & to call us a cab back to our hotel... Next dive day was with Giacomo & he too was awesome, even taking the time after all other divers were back on the boat, to help me 1 on 1, go back in the water to practice clearing my mask so that I was more comfortable doing it. Unfortunately my husband had trouble equalizing his ears on that day's dives so we couldn't dive the final day. While trying to arrange getting a cab from our hotel to get the personal dive gear we had stored at the dive shop, they offered to deliver it to us free of charge. When I mentioned his ear condition, they suggested ibuprofen. Not only did they SEND ibuprofen with the dive gear, they also included ear drops to help too! My husband and I did four dives with Blue Life, two in Cozumel and two on the Playa reefs. From start to finish, our experience was amazing! For reference, I am a very new diver (6 dives prior to our trip) and my husband is an experienced rescue diver. Prior to our travel, I emailed Andrea with a few questions about diving in Cozumel as a beginner. Andrea was wonderful and very promptly answered all my questions about the dives. When we arrived to the dive shop, our instructors already knew that I was a beginner and it was very evident that safety is the number one priority. It was great to meet Andrea at the dive shop as well! Cozumel dives: Our guide was Valentina and she was wonderful! She helped us get fitted with our equipment, which was in great condition. It is a short walk to the beach to catch the boat to Cozumel. Blue Life is one of the few dive shops that is allowed to transport you directly from the beach to the Cozumel dive site, bypassing the ferry. This is a great advantage! The sea was choppy this day but we felt very safe and tucked in on the boat for our 45 min ride to Cozumel. The staff on the boat was also wonderful, making sure we had plenty of water/snacks, helping us with our equipment and in and out of the boat. The Cozumel dives were absolutely amazing, massive coral formations at Palancar with great visibility (100+ ft). The current is strong here with our 2nd dive being a drift dive (a first for me, which I enjoyed!). This dive is great for beginners and advanced divers. Our max depth was 60 ft but the advanced groups went to greater depths. Overall, an A++ experience. Playa del Carmen reef dives: Our equipment was reserved for us after our day 1 dives so getting ready to head to the beach was very efficient. Misael was our guide for day 2 and we absolutely adored him! He is so kind and fun! Again, wonderful staff on the boat as well. The Playa reefs are very close to shore, maybe 10 min boat ride. Prior to the dives, we were wondering if we should have done another day in Cozumel but after our dives, we are SO glad we did the Playa dives. There are not the grand coral formations like Cozumel, but there is so many more fish here! We saw barracudas, turtles, lionfish, eels, crabs, trumpetfish, angelfish, pufferfish, and many large schools. Max depth 30-40 feet, definitely good for beginners and so much to see for the advanced as well. Visibility was 50-60 ft. A wonderful experience, and another shout out to Misael for making our dive so fun! We are so glad we did both the Cozumel and Playa dives! Thank you Andrea, Valentina, and Misael!
