Never seen so much colour under the sea before, felt so privileged especially when an inquisitive turtle swam up to have a nosy at us. On Isla Mujeres, instead of staying in the north of the island (where we docked), John was excited to rent a golf cart and so we toured the less touristic, south part the island. The north also had it's own charm, street vendors, Playa Norte (rated in the top 10 of the world's best beaches) plus it was also home to a phenomenal dulce de leche icecream, so much so I had 2 of them in about half hour

There they served us light refreshments before we were off. It's never a guarantee of what we'll be able to see (because wildlife), the boat ride itself was an adventure as we had to travel fairly far out to the spot where the current had currently pushed up a lot of food and thus where the whale sharks were likely to hang out. We saw sea turtles along the way! Also completely out of our control is the condition of the waves, the day we went out was choppy. I luckily don't get motion sickness but for others it was tough - highly recommend coming prepared and taking Dramamine BEFORE you start on the boat ride! If you take it after you're sick it's too late! We were lucky - there were about 10 whale sharks! They mentioned the previous day there were around 5. We each had a couple turns going out to swim with the whale sharks, going two at a time together with guide Dara who helped us all navigate in the water. We felt safe and completely taken care of the whole time - even for those who were sick, they were always attentive by offering water and other solutions to make everyone feel better (ie. lying down on the ground or spending some time in the water). On the way back, we were lucky enough to pass through a big group of dolphins - they were riding the waves right next to us! We also stopped by the beach on Isla de las Mujeres and they prepared us some delicious snacks: ceviche and mangos. Where, oh where, do I start?…read more We booked a trip for Tulum in February back in October and I hit Yelp to hunt for ideas for our trip. I came across a review for Yucatan Eli's Tours and was so impressed by what I read that I reached out to them to ask some more specific questions. Derek responded to me within a couple hours and not only answered all my questions, but encouraged me to reach out if I had more questions... which, because I am an avid planner, I did. Over the several months leading up to the trip Derek gave me many insider tips and local advice- we were basically best friends when all was said and done. We planned the Yucatan Wildlife Tour in the Premium Tour Packages. The price was incredibly reasonable, especially considering this is an ALL DAY excursion with pick-up, drop-off and lunch and snacks included. Eli picked us up at 7:30am with the kind of cheer and enthusiasm that confuses any New Englander, but he also had hot, fresh coffee waiting for us so we knew he was just an actual angel in a polo. This notion was only solidified when within 15 minutes we would be friends for life, because Eli is that awesome. Our first top was deep into the jungle in Coba. We hired a Mayan guide who deftly lead us into the jungle (in flip flops!) over and under dense tropical foliage making monkey calls with his hands cupped over his mouth. Eli followed closely behind quickly educating us on all that surrounded us. Not before long we see, HARK!, monkeys! A momma spider monkey and her baby skipped across the tree tops over our heads, and then we saw the ever elusive howler monkey, and lucky for us he was stopped to answer our Mayan guide's calls! Let me tell you something, nothing prepares you for how intense and cool a howler monkey's calls are! Even this experience alone would have been worth what we paid for the entire trip. From here we visited a local Mayan village and enjoyed some roadside fresh coconut waters (in the coconut like true tropical voyagers), chili covered mangoes, and handmade wares (of which I bought many, shop local, you know?!). From there we went back towards Tulum to enjoy a delish lunch at one of Eli's favorite local spots- he has great taste, and then off snorkel in an awesome unground cenote! The waters were so cool and refreshing and there were only a handful of other people there so it did not feel crowded. Our next stop was going to be snorkeling with the turtles in Akumal, but unfortunately Mother Nature was throwing a wind-party and whipping up sand so the visibility was null. Quick-thinking Eli came up with another plan for us to snorkel in a near by lagoon so that we could still see some of what the reef has to offer. We saw barracuda, massive schools of sardines, and rainbow parrot fish among others. We were sad to miss the turtles, but hey.... this is nature are dealing with, plus it is a great excuse to make another trip. This was hands-down one of the best experiences I have ever had. Eli clearly loves what he does and this translates through every part of the excursion. You better believe that we will be looking up Eli on our next trip to Tulum, and you should too! There's not a ton of walking but you will be on a lot of uneven natural surfaces. The entire thing is a money grab and sub par quality as best. staff are unfriendly and the guide was rude and dismissive. He singled me out by asking if I was an expert swimmer and proceeded to draw the cross and say he is going to sacrifice me when I said my swimming was so so. The ATV guide mislead us into believing we are going to be on our own and very likely to damage the ATV or collide into something and be on the hook for thousands of dollars in damages. Instead the ATV tour involved everyone driving in a singular line behind the guide at a medium speed where it would be impossible to crash or damage the car. I do not recommend this company and their packages; there are many others I have tried in the past with friendly guides who are polite and caring who offered to take photos to help us take nice photos away as memories.

Our group comprised of three families with adults, teens, and young children. It was all of our first times traveling to Cancun so I wanted to find a private tour for my large group. Booking with them through their website was easy and they were very quick to communicate via email. Leading up to the tour, we had some travel delays, but after updating Rod and their team of our situation, they were very accommodating. Kat was our guide and Pepe was our driver. Kat was informative during our guided walk of Chichen Itza and also accommodating of our last minute concerns and needs. Pepe was a great driver and got us to our destinations swiftly and safely. Marveling at the ruins at Chichen Itza and learning more about the history of Mayan culture and the way life might have been like at the time was very interesting. Kat took photos during our entire tour and later shared them via Google. A plus for our group as we LOVE photos. On our way to Cenote Samaal, we requested a stop for some fresh coconut water. They were quick to find a vendor on the side of the road. Pepe also got out and helped cut the coconuts for the 12 of us. Very impressed with his initiative and helpfulness. The coconuts were so refreshing after walking around in the sun at Chichen Itza! Admission, locker access, life jackets, and lunch were provided for us at Cenote Samaal. Everyone in our group enjoyed swimming in the cenote. The lunch buffet was a favorite among the adults in our group as we got to get a taste of Yucatan cuisine. We both thoroughly enjoyed the half day trip and would recommend it to anyone. Limbert was a very knowledgeable guide and told us a lot about the history of Mexico on the drive down. Both were quite close to Playa Del Carmen/ Playacar so the longest drive was around thirty minutes. I got some great photos and at the end of the trip we were sent a Google Drive of the photos that Limbert had taken.

Unreal experience, as I was able to get certified by completing my first two dives at Cozumel on Day 1, and my final three dives at Cenotes El Pit and Dos Ojos on Day 2. I appreciated the diverse diving experiences I had over the two days and Blue Life's communication, professionalism, and kindness. Blue Life had all my gear set-up for me when I arrived, walked me through the dives we'd be completing, refreshed on hand signals and diving best practices, which was exactly what I needed. Even though cenote diving was new to me, I felt very safe with Oscar as he helped me adjust all of my gear both before and during the dive. Food and transportation were included in the price and I was very thankful that everything was prepared for me. I went back to Blue Life a couple days later after Oscar recommended that I check out C-53, a sunken ship off the coast of Cozumel. This time I was with Tomas, who was equally as friendly and communicative about our dive plans.
