He captured the picture we really wanted

Paolo is a stud. I run a guide outfit and customer service is king. Paolo is awesome. His gear is fantastic, my wife did all the booking. Neither of us had dived in fresh water let alone Cenotes. He was great to work with over email. I brought all of our own dive gear because I like to have my gear. But I don't think it would have been necessary, he runs almost all Cressi. We did two dives in Dos Ojos the first day, then the second we did The pit and dream gate. We've both dove the blue hole in Belize and the pit blows it out of the water. It truly is one of the best dives in the world. Being the first at every dive both days was key. He get keys to locked gates to make sure he is first so your not fighting everyone else or waiting. It makes for a early day, but well worth it. He does great snacks and water between dives. I don't usually run a wetsuit with the water temps we had, and I didn't the first dive. But I would recommend renting one, not due to the cold but the bugs are relentless in the jungle. No need to take that thing off in between dives. Taylor & Hannah

We had 2 great dives with Paolo in Casa Cenote and Cenote Calevara ("Temple of Doom"), including a Discover Scuba experience for my husband. I had emailed with Paolo several times beforehand to figure out which cenotes would be best for us to dive, he was very accommodating about our preferences. Two days before the dives he let us know that some of the cenotes were packed and so we decided on Temple of Doom - a very good decision! We met up with Paolo the day before our dives so we could go over equipment and he could do the Discover Scuba lesson with my husband, who was going to do Casa Cenote since it's shallower. The morning of the dive they had another lesson in the water to make sure that my husband was comfortable in the water and knew all the basic skills. Before each dive, Paolo did an overview beforehand to go over what we'd see, our route, things to look out for, etc. For Temple of Doom we would be using flashlights and we went over how to use those for signals since the usual hand signals wouldn't work. My only complaint was I wish I could have squeezed in more dives! Next time...

I knew I would find my way to Tulum while living in Cozumel for the summer. Diving Cenotes Tulum had the most detailed website and that captured my attention. I wrote them an email several months prior to my trip and within a day I had a response from Paolo, the owner. I had many questions about transportation to Tulum from Playa del Carman, places to stay near his dive operation and how far in advance I would need to book. He answered all my questions and even told me they have a small unit for rent right on property for diving guests. I arrived in Tulum yesterday and immediately found the dive shop. Paolo gave me a thorough overview of the different cenotes, prices and the skill level necessary for each. Since these were to be my first cenote dives I chose something both affordable and not overwhelming. It was a really good choice. I couldn't have wanted any more on this trip. Very professional and a good guy.

We spent the ride to Cancun learning about our instructors love for the ocean and we inquired about other trips they offer in the winter time for when we return. We enjoyed coffee and some breakfast before boarding the boat. Before getting in the water for our snorkel our instructor, Rico, explained the importance of respecting the animals space by not touching them and gave us a brief description of the biology of Whale Sharks. Once we were in the water we saw many Whale Sharks, we got to see them feed off the plankton and our instructor was making sure to document our experience by photographing us. Since the Whale Sharks move pretty fast we were lucky our instructor and captain were so good at spotting them - I defiantly saw more than I expected. On the way to Isla Mujeres we were given a snack and beverages while we learned a bit about the history of the island we were going to and more about Mayan culture. Once at Isla Mujeres we enjoyed guacamole, ceviche, and a cold beer on a sand bar listening to music. The trip ended with a short boat ride back to Cancun and a relaxing drive back to Tulum. Needless to say, I am very pleased with my purchase and I cant wait to see the photos from the instructors camera. I look forward to working with Yucatan Dive and Travel again this winter.

I am SCUBA certified, but my husband is not. We chose this tour so we could do a couple of dives together. Joshua picked us up at our hotel promptly on time, took us to the store to pick up our equipment and get fitted with wet suits, and then took us to a nearby Cenote (Casa Cenote). We arrived around 9:30am. Joshua ran us through our equipment and some safety information, and then we walked into the Cenote and descended. The Cenote is not too deep (our max depth was about 20ft). This dive took 40 minutes, and we saw fish, diving cormorants, and even got a chance to see "Ponchito", the crocodile. It's a 'there and back' route, with some interesting sites and an easy enough first dive. When that was over, we came back to the surface and after a short walk to the boat, we were taken out to a nearby reef (maybe 10 minutes travel time total). The reef dive was max depth 33ft, and 45 minutes long. It was beautiful, lots of corals and plant life, and a lot of fish activity. The water is warm and comfortable. My husband had a great experience with his first dives, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by not going any deeper than we did. Joshua kept a close eye on us at all times, and checked in regularly to make sure we were both OK. The whole trip took about 6 hours, maybe a little less. It was so convenient to get picked up and dropped off right at our hotel, and it was just the three of us the whole time. It's a personalized, private tour, and well worth the experience!

This is a spectacular dive operation!…read more I spent 3 days in the water with them and, aside from the nicest facility I've been to in ages, the crew of guides, instructors, and office peeps made this an incredibly easy, enjoyable, and comprehensive dive adventure. Most importantly, though, my small group had incredibly varied SCUBA experience and their team got everyone diving in a way best for them. I'm already planning a return visit. Never rushed. Never unsafe. Never pushed beyond your skill level... I cannot say enough nice things about this PADI 5-Star operation.

Unfortunately that was not the case. The manager was somewhat dishonest and deceptive, although we take some ownership over not being careful enough. But we'll let you be the judge. Looking through these reviews we may be an isolated incident (or maybe it's changed) but for those who have high expectations for a dive shop who pay more, I would encourage you to think twice. The managers technique is keep everything ambiguous, and bait and switch... The dive we booked was 1 dive: "CENOTE OF YOUR CHOICE" the your choice part was important to us as people who've been to tulum once to twice a year for the past decade. We signed up paid our deposit which was non refundable. After we signed up we were notified that it was slightly over a year since our last dive (13 months) and therefore they offered a "free refresher course at casa cenote". Having signed up for a "cenote of your choice", we were under the impression that the refresher course was at casa, and we would go to a cenote of "our choice" since that was wait we paid for. When we got there it was clear that we didn't have a choice and we had to go to casa, which has had cases of E. coli and has a bad mosquito problem (much worse than other dive locations). After talking with the manager, who was nice but we felt a bit gaslit as what we signed up for. After much back and forth I just decided to proceed with casa (which was told as the ONLY choice, despite having paid for our choice), even though that would've been our last choice. Now the deception didn't end there. Having called a "free refresher course" you would've thought it was a refresher course tied to a real dive. Now it was 15 minutes of skills learning and maybe 10-15 minutes of actual diving. We didn't stop to admire any of the wildlife it was very in/out. Also in the email it says lunch will be served but there was no lunch (not that we were hungry but just calling them out for their shady email tactics of "we told you this over email") We really felt bait and switched bc we don't understand how you can advertise it as a free refresher course because it implies it's attached to something else but it wasn't. the entire thing was the course.... You live and you learn!! Two stars instead of one because we could've been more careful and asked more questions before we got there. Lesson learned!

In May 2023, 6 of us were registered to go on the Southern Sport charter to Socorro through Ko'ox. We had *each* paid $5000 for the trip in advance. We boarded the boat Southern Sport (which was a dump, btw) and, after 24 hours, never left port because the boat had a mechanical issue. Because the operator canceled the trip, travel insurance did not cover the situation. Chucho, the owner, who was with us on the trip, promised us all that he would refund our money and make it right. "Just trust me." We had no choice, so I did. Chucho and his colleague Andrea promised they would pay on a payment plan over 8-10 months (no interest, but at least I'd get my money back). I agreed. I receive a payment in October and one in November. In December, Chucho asked if he could half it (claiming hardship) and wait a few weeks to receive it. Then he ghosted me - simply stopped answering and stopped paying. I am still ~$4,000 and the others are out their full $5000. Keeping our money was unethical and illegal. They got away with it with us -- don't let them get away with it with you as well.
