I was referred to them through the visiting the UK Facebook group, everybody's recommendation was excellent, some said a little pricey, but the customer service, peace of mind and everything that went along with it made it all that more worthwhile. We rented a car, 9 days, picked up a Milton Keynes England, dropped off at Heathrow airport. Took the train from London, Steve. Our reservation guy even provided us with emailed instructions on how to get to the pickup, drop off locations and our hotel all by train until we picked up our car a few days after arrival. We out there for the full insurance even though our Visa card covers insurance, was not that expensive and worthwhile for the peace of mind. We had no mechanical issues, brand new Kia with about 15,000 mi on it. Was allotted 250 mi a day, we drove north all through Scotland, England, Wales and back to Heathrow with no issues. Definitely recommend this company if you want. Peace of mind and if you're all about customer service, which is extremely important when you're visiting a foreign country from your own. The guy who dropped us off at the airport from Heathrow was awesome as was Steve, our original guy we booked with. We opted for the dash cam and found that it did not have one when we went to drop the car off because we wanted the SD card which you are able to buy. When picking up the guy said there was one in there, pointing to the dashboard, not being familiar with their system. System I took his word for it. We had an excellent experience with Celtic Legend. The service is absolutely incredible. They respond so quickly by email and are very polite. Unfortunately we had to return the car a bit later than expected and were charged an extra full day's fee, but since this was a last minute change on our end, I understand. It cost about $72 USD per day, which I thought was a great value. Checking in and out was relatively easy through Arnold Clarke, their contractor. I didn't like that no one welcomed us when we came in, leaving us to stand awkwardly until they decided to pay us attention. Drop off was easy and they shuttled us to the airport. We heard about Celtic Legend through a FB travel group. I emailed them for a quote for two days and with an additional driver. They were very responsive. A few days before we left, I asked if we could extend a day. Not only were they able to accommodate, but the price was better! I cannot express how easy they made the process. They have a shuttle that will get you from your hotel and take you to the rental place. I was helped by a gentleman named George, who quickly got us on our way. I do appreciate that he took a moment to show us the controls of the car. The car was clean and ready to go. Turn-in was just as easy. We didn't end up using the extra insurance or the additional driver, but I'm very glad we had them; definitely worth the few extra pounds. The only negative of the experience wasn't even on them. When we were in Glasgow, we used my phone's GPS (which had been fine the whole trip) to calculate how long it'd take to drive back to the rental place so we could have lunch prior. Once we started driving, the time increased substantially so we were almost late. All that to say, make sure you at least double what your GPS says! This was hands down the easiest rental experience I've ever had. It felt like working with my own person travel agent. They set everything up, answered any and all of my questions, followed up with reminders, and just hands down, a great experience. Very easy to arrange the Arnold Clark car rental through Celtic Legend. Liam was great to work with via messaging/email answering all my questions thoroughly. There were no issues picking the car up with Arnold Clark, however returning the car back to Arnold Clark was confusing as they could not tell if the car was already paid for or not. Great first time experience with this Scottish based company acting as an agent for Arnold Clark, after many years of using the international big guys. Pricing was very competitive with extras like extra drivers, GPS, included. Advanced online reservation process was detailed, efficient and provided very detailed instructions for pickup on arrival.Multiple locations, but I picked up at EDI, which required a simple call on arrival and pick up by shuttle in a few minutes to their offsite location 5 minutes way. Staff were very helpful and efficient on pickup and drop off. I strongly recommend the full coverage insurance (waiver), especially if you are not used to driving on the left. My vehicle was an automatic hybrid, and the relatively minimal extra cost for automatic is well worth it, especially if you plan to travel smaller roads. Excellent service - getting the car in Edinburgh was by far the easiest car rental experience I have ever had. There was no standing in line. I was immediately greeted by a service representative and then seated while she efficiently completed the paperwork. Renting online from Celtic Legend was a great experience. We rented a car for a week in July in Edinburgh and drove through the Highlands and over to Aberdeen. The experience with the Arnold Clark branch in Sighthill, Edinburgh was good, other than the long processing time due to customer lineups (30 minutes to an hour to pickup or return a car is not acceptable!). The car we rented (Vauxhall Grand-land automatic) was a pleasure to drive; only complaint would be the lack of cup holders for your coffee.... Scotland was amazing- great scenery and friendly people! Driving on some of the "single track" roads was an interesting experience - took a while to get used to the "Passing Place" arrangements. read more

CELTIC/ARNOLD CLARK UPDATE:: DO NOT Rent from these companies. Waiting in airport for our flight home from a whirl wind visit 5 B&B's all around beautiful Scotland. I rented a van from Celtic to be picked up at Arnold Clark rentals in Edinburgh. 1. Lengthy instructions stated to find a phone by Domestic Arrivals Gate, call them upon arrival and not to get on the bus until you've reached them - after wasting an hour trying to find the phone we left for the rental. They kept disconnecting us when trying to call direct. Really annoying after a red eye flight. 2. Rental stated...Oh yeh that phone is no longer there!!! And Oh yeh we have phone problems. 3. Over 1 hour to check in and get the van (which was highest cost) for the 6 of us. Empty office. NOW THE GOOD PART..... My farm vehicles are in MUCH better condition!!!!! -This van's wiper blades were expired. Rains a lot in Scotland. - No AC and back windows did not open- it was 85 in Edinburgh -Passenger window was broken would not go up or down. -Breaks were very scary -Shocks were blown -Bolts from under carriage were flying off We called north of Inverness to see if someone could bring us a working van, as we had reservations, tickets and appointments to many things we planned ahead of time....they said No, but we could back track over an hour into the city and they would see what they could do.... - We made it around to almost Glasgow when more bolts flew off and the undercarriage started dropping on a busy M80. -Again we called- they said WE could call a tow truck!! 28 miles away from any open AC rental- -We used duck tape and hiking shoe strings to limp the van in WAIT...GETS better!! We picked up our 2nd POS van in Glasgow. About 2 miles out we started getting dinging alarms that doors were open when they were shut. About another 2 miles we get Oil overfill alarms. These companies are renting vehicles that have come straight out of the salvage yard!! Unacceptable, Unsafe, UN accommodating. Really put a damper on this Scotland vaca. Seats in vans did not recline at all sitting straight up almost slight lean forward all the way around the country Plenty of rentals at the airport- our suggestion is to use those read more

We had a terrific car experience, renting from Celtic legend. We were upgraded to a new Volvo XC60 which coincidentally is the car we drive at home and so it made our travels that much easier. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we returned the car with the gas tank almost empty. In the United States, this would've cost an arm and a leg. Instead, they added on a relatively modest surcharge. The entire process from pick up to drop off was incredibly easy and smooth. Fantastic experience from start to finish! Working with Steve to determine what car, drop off/pick up locations, insurance, everything was so easy. Never felt he was trying to upsell me, just like a helpful knowledgable friend who wanted to find me the best price and meet all my needs. Pick up was easy, not at all like getting a rental car in the US! Fast, calm, very simple. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. A few minor things: could not figure out how to call them from the train station for pick up as the format of the number in the email was not what I needed to use from my phone; it was uncharacteristically hot the week we were there and the AC was useless (I did send a note and was offered to exchange for a new car but we were already on our way at that point so dealt with it) and when the agent demonstrated how easy it was to open the gas tank cover she didn't point out that it only opens with the key removed which led to some panic at the gas pump until we discovered it by accident. Also, the navigation system could not locate many points of interest (tourist spots, not off the beaten path places) and did not take addresses in the format listed on everything. It also couldn't find Arnold Clark for the drop off LOL. Google maps was our friend. We had a Hyundai Santa Fe and drove from Stirling to Ullapool, all over Isle of Lewis then back down to Edinburgh. Easy to drive and pleny of room for 3 adults and all our stuff. Drop off was again fast and easy. The trains were not running that day so they called a taxi for us that arrived in less than 10 minutes. I highly highly recommend Celtic Legend/Arnold Clark! read more
