Our 3-days to the Highlands and Skye with Dejan in July 2025 was simply incredible: he has a knack for storytelling and gives you so many historical facts. This week I book a private tour to the Highlands, Loch Ness, Fort William to show my sister how beautiful Scotland is. Our driver/guide Arina picked us up from the hotel in Edinburgh and for the next 12 hours kept us entertained with historical facts, beautiful sceneries, nice music. Then a couple of days later, we took another tour and this time Mike was our guide. We visited the Dunfermline Abbey, Sterling Castle and Rosslyn Chapel. Loch Ness, Glen Coe, and the Highlands. A very long but interesting and fun day that took us to all those places and everywhere in between! Our guides were Graham, the driver, who was dressed in his kilt, and Jacqueline who narrated the tour. Graham pitched in the occasional story and both really knew their history and information about the areas we were seeing. With beautiful sunny skies, we were able to see Ben Nevis. The only thing we didn't get to see was Nessie, but not because the waters weren't clear and calm enough! There were plenty of comfort stops along the way with opportunities to get food and drink. Although 12-1/2 hours is exceptionally long, we couldn't have seen it all any other way, so if I had to do it over again, I would...there's just no way to see those sites from Edinburgh any other way. read more

He introduced us to lesser-known stops off the beaten path, got to know each of us individually, and even incorporated music into the info he shared to augment the experience! I loved my 3 day small group tour of the Scottish Highlands! We saw wonderful scenery and it was a great way to travel. I was booked in a very cute B&B called Aye-Stay in Inverness that had a comfy room, a delicious breakfast but sadly i was close to a noisy boiler. None of the other guests seemed bothered. I enjoyed our tour driver Scott. There were many places we did not get to stay long enough but it was only a 3 day tour so that is to be expected. read more

The sights were amazing. Our tour guide, Terri, was really informative and lively and added to the experience. The things I wish we had known before (and think the tour company should inform before) is that you find out after you depart about an option for a castle and/or boat tour at Loch Ness. It's an additional fee and cash pay only. The only atms at the rest stops have a 15% surcharge. In addition, the food at the rest stops and breaks leaves much to be desired. Bring snacks at a minimum! read more

Went on 1 Day tour of Stirling Castle and area. Tour guide was Jamie. He was awesome! Was very informative, as well as creative on the tour. One of the places we were to tour was not open this day since it was New Year Eve. Jamie used his knowledge and experience to help us enjoy a couple of other locations. We had the greatest time on this trip! Comfortable ride and it took us right where we wanted to go! My only suggestion would be more time with the hairy coos! Aaron was our driver and along with being exerienced and safe on those windy roads, he peppered in some stories for us as well and they were wonderful! Audrey was our guide and she was so funny and knowledgable and she was informative while making it enjoyable. Loved her soundtrack as well! Highly recommend this tour! read more

Paul the lilted biker was fantastic and learnt about Scottish people, traditions, history, and culture all in one day trip. Learnt how to wear a kilt as well as how to have a sword fight. Only regret was the batteries discharged ( no fault of Paul) and we were stuck in the boonies for an hour and a half before help came to jump start the bus. Overall a thorough experience and day. we had a wonderful time on this trip with chris and mike on a 12-hour tour of the highlands, loch ness, and glen coe. after reading these reviews, it seems the experience is heavily dependent on the guides, in which case i believe we lucked out! both chris and mike were friendly, funny, and absolute fountains of scottish history knowledge. we followed the itinerary and learned a lot about the areas we passed through and stopped at. it's december, so it was dark for the drive home through the cairngorms, which was the only sad part... but that's obviously no fault of the tour company. in fact, the way the timing worked out, it was kind of cool that we essentially got a sunset cruise of loch ness! the cruise and castle are still not included in the original price, which is mentioned on all sites where the tour is advertised including their own site. it's currently £28pp and must be paid in cash. i thought it was worth it, though! we thank chris and mike heartily for this tour. we'd come back for another trip with them in a heartbeat! read more

The tour guide and bus driver were great and full of information however the cruise and bathroom breaks were not great. All of the tour buses in Scotland arrived at the same stops at the same exact time. We had only enough time to wait in line to use the restroom, fight through the crowd and then it was time to go. The Loch Ness boat was so full by the time our bus arrived the only place we had to go on the boat was outside in the elements. One of the last stops for 2 hours had a filthy bathroom and a lackluster variety of snacks for our dinner break. Had we not been the last bus to arrive at all of the stops, we may have had a different experience. It was a great experience for going through the Highlands and seeing Loch Ness, but we felt there were way too many people on the tour and that took a way from the experience. read more

The tour was well planned and our guide Kenny was very knowledgeable and friendly, his cool personality and easy friendly attitude helped us appreciate the beautiful highland views even more. The only problem we encountered was in one of the B&Bs on Skie, but the other place near Loch Ness was just perfect, so it's all balanced out. Did the day trip in a party of 2 and had a great time! We did the 1 day tour to Loch Ness, Glen Coe, and the Highlands. Plenty of stretch breaks, bathroom breaks, and souvenir/ food breaks (all within 45 min- 2 hours of each stop.) It was a 12 hour day with a low- moderate amount of walking but mostly sitting. The seats were pretty comfortable for a plus-size guest (2x and 3x sitting side by side) and there wasn't an activity we were physically unable to participate in. Great photo opportunities and wonderful tour guides (Terri and Allen). This is a must-do to maximize a 3-5 day trip to Scotland/ Edinburgh! read more

What does one generally hope to get out of a multi-day tour in another country? The obvious bare minimum things are safety, reliability and the feeling that you got to see a lot... Then you hope that you'll have a tour guide who will be able to give you some accurate and interesting information about the places you're visiting. We didn't get that... We got infinitely more. My mother and I took a one day private tour with Highland Experience last summer (July 2024) and it was great! But... we'd wished we'd done more. We had an amazing guide, a really nice tour and we felt very taken care of. I guess I should mention that one main reason we did a private tour is that my mother is older and has mobility issues and we thought it would be a little easier to do a private tour and not have a bus full of people waiting for us if we were moving slow. Thankfully, that wasn't an issue... even on this longer tour on a bus. Because of our experience last summer, I felt I could trust the company. That's why when we decided to come back to Scotland this summer with my sister along as well... and really do it right this time... the first thing I did was look in to the multi-day tours that Highland Experience offers. We chose the 5-day Scottish Choice tour and we saw so much more than I'd even realized while reading about the tour and it quickly became apparent what a special trip this was going to be. It was the trip of a lifetime. Leading the charge was our tour guide/driver, Jamie. It is by no means an exaggeration to say that Jamie was the heart and soul of this trip. He managed to turn a bus full of strangers in to friends and went above and beyond at every turn.... Literally. ;-) The landscape of Scotland, as you travel north from Edinburgh is incredibly beautiful.. mountains blanketed in purple heather and dotted with grazing sheep... and would have been enough to hold my attention on the rides from stop to stop, but what Jamie added was invaluable. Jamie took the time and effort to carefully put everything we were seeing into context and did it in creative and engaging ways. Jamie didn't just rattle off historical facts (though he definitely included those as well..haha)... he used (very carefully chosen, contextually significant) music, storytelling, humor and even poetry to turn time on the bus in to a more complete experience than I previously thought possible. And if that wasn't enough, Jamie also really looked after us all, suggesting places to eat and things to explore and made sure we got to our rooms safe and sound each evening. He also didn't seem to mind loading and unloading my mother's wheelchair multiple times a day. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough or sufficiently express my gratitude to Jamie and to Highland Experience for a trip that broke our hearts to have to return home from. read more

I wish there were 10 stars to rate! Just an outstanding experience. Keith is a fun and knowledgeable guide. He had the entire group of strangers at ease and having a ton of fun within 30 minutes. He had a strong level of Scottish history and told it in a way that was easy to remember. I'd do it again in an instant! The only thing about the tour I'd recommend is not to use Lochness Inn as a hotel option. The beds were very hard (box springs) and the continental breakfast was toast and packaged cereal. The juice was watered down and the coffee instant. No fruit or anything fresh. read more

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this, our first-ever bus tour. Our guide Chloe provided lots of historical, geographic, and cultural information through running commentary during our drives and at each of our stops. Her delivery was delightful and spirited, and she responded to our many questions with enthusiasm. At times the road noise made hearing her difficult, but Chloe turned up the volume when we let her know. We are in our 70's and were concerned about slowing the group down, but Chloe was able to accommodate me without impairing the others. The accommodations were quite comfortable and the breakfast yummy. We plan to take another tour soon. read more

When I signed up for his tour through Get Your Guide, it explained a tour that would fill us with the rich 5000 year history of the Highlands The first thing our guide Craig did was apologize for not knowing anything about the places we were going or about the Highlands. The day before was the first time he'd driven the route as a recon mission, and we were his first five day tour. He'd never even done an overnight before. I was in the front seat, and before we left, the bus started making a weird noise. When Craig asked his supervisor about it, he said he'd get him a new bus at our next stop. That never happened. Instead, we had to endure five days of a loose fan belt, which sounded like an electric drill. When that wasn't happening, there was a swoshing sound like an ocean machine was on. This made it difficult to understand the already heavy Scotland accent of our driver. Two of the place we were supposed to visit did not allow large buses. Craig sweet talked one of them into letting us stop because he was new. Our accommodations were spread out all over the areas we stopped with some not within walking distance to restaraunts for dinner. I called Get Your Guide, whom I booked the tour through and explained all of this, requesting a refund. Hyland Experience lied, saying all their drivers are well seasoned and knowledgable. Craig isn't even on thier website, he's so new. I love Get Your Guide as they respectfully refunded a part of the tour when Hyland Experience refused to acknowledge the problem and discontent customer. read more

We did the 5 day Highland Experience Scottish Choice tour. Our guide was James and he was fantastic! He told us lots about Scottish history throughout the tour which really helped put all the sites into context (and he also pointed out all the Harry Potter filming sites which my friend and I very much appreciated!). He was so organized with dropping off and picking up everyone at the various accommodations we were spread throughout, and offered lots of helpful dinner recommendations near each spot! You'll get to see lots of different parts of the highlands including a nature, castles, a ferry ride out to Isle of Skye, and a one hour cruise on Loch Ness. While you do get to see lots of different sites, you also don't get too much time at any one place to explore, but they did a good job building in as much exploration time as possible given the tight schedule. There is a lot of time sitting on the bus and the roads tend to be pretty windy, so if you experience any motion sickness you'll definitely want to bring something to help with that! Overall I don't think bus tours are my preferred way of traveling but in 5 days I don't think there is any better way to see so much of the highlands! read more

We took the 1 day Loch Ness Glen Coe & Highlands tour. Their check in was fast. That said, good to arrive early and ask where the bus is so you can board when you are ready. We got coffee and sandwiches at the cafe (Nerro) and when we went out to board slightly before 8 the bus was almost full. Luckily l, ended up getting seats together. For this tour it was a coach bus & pretty much full with 60+ passengers. This tour lived up to the billed duration. We left at 8 am & got back at 8:15 pm. Good to bring snacks although they had plenty of stops for souvenir shopping, food and restroom breaks. As has been my experience with other tour companies the coach bus toilet was out of order. We spent a good deal of the time riding to the different destinations. I would estimate about 5 hours was spent on the bus. For anyone who can get car sick, bring your remedies. There are many ups and downs and twists on this trip. We actually had one of our passengers who got sick and they were accommodating, pulling over for a few minutes. Our guide was Josh and driver was Tully. Josh was a great story teller ( & maybe a comedian outside of touring). Also, had an awesome traditional playlist to compliment the ride. Tully got us there and back safely. The Loch Ness boat ride (extra charge-bring 20 GBP cash) was definitely worth it especially since it includes a visit to Urquhart Castle. Some breathtaking views. Glen Coe is the main highlight of the day! . Although 12 hours plus, the day does goes fast given a good mix of activities. Looking forward to taking some of their other tours! read more

When my wife told me we were doing a 13 hour trip I wasn't thrilled. Could not have been more wrong. We did a custom/private 5 day tour with Jamie, and we had an amazing time. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 4 teens, and every single one of us loved the tour and our guide. From the start, my communications with Fraser gave me a good feeling about this company. He was quick to respond, answered my questions thoroughly, and did a great job in helping to create a perfect itinerary for our group. Once we were in Edinburgh and got picked up by Jamie for our tour, that's when the real fun began. I won't mention the sights, because we all know how beautiful Scotland is, but Jamie's helpfulness, willingness to customize the itinerary as we went, and stories helped to make this trip super memorable. We had baggage delay issues, so he was willing to make stops to go shopping, even driving me to laundry machines early one morning well before our scheduled meeting time. There is so much more I can say, but I'll just leave it this- this tour company and our tour guide were amazing, and I wouldn't mind going back! The 3 day isle of Skye small group tour, with Brian as the guide, and it was amazing. The views, the sights, the rain, the sun... Every moment was filled with commentary from our guide. We took the 12 hour Loch Ness, Glen Coe & Highlands tour. Check in is in their office located inside Cafe Nero next to St Giles Cathedral on the Royal mile. We had our tickets printed out from the email and had no issues with checking in. Once you check in, they tell you what bus you're on and where to wait. You can also grab some snacks and hot drinks or other food/drink items at cafe Nero before boarding! Our driver/guide was very prompt! We left at 8 am and returned around 830-840pm. His name is Stephen H. (sp?) and he did a fantastic job for us on this long tour! Yes, you spend a lot of time in the bus, BUT there is just so much to see! You travel almost 400 miles in one day! But there are plenty of stops for photos, snacks/food/drinks and bathroom breaks. At the last stop, you have an option to take a 1 hr. boat ride on Loch Ness for an additional 22gbp pp. We opted not to do this and ended up getting to spend a relaxing hour having tea and recharging at the restaurant which was very nice! Overall a great way to see some highland highlights in a short time frame! Highly recommend...thanks Stephen! read more

We selected this excursion because we wanted to see both Rosslyn and Stirling. This excursion was the one day tour. The stop at Dunfermline was nice but the stop to see the bridges was kind of a waste of time. The tour also includes Bannockburn. It does maximize your opportunities but you will feel rushed everywhere. The basics, it's well organized and the bus was OK if not full. My husband is 6'2" 230 and not built for the seats. Our guide / driver was OK but not the most entertaining and he did take a wrong turn in road construction that cost us maybe 20 minutes in Rosslyn. In Stirling you have a choice castle or lunch. You can't do both properly. There is a café in the castle with reasonably priced and good food to grab and down quickly. Our "40 minute" live tour at Stirling actually took well over an hour. We should have ditched it. Bottom line is that if your primary interest is Rosslyn just find a direct Lothian bus. You will not have enough time to fully appreciate Rosslyn on this tour. read more
