Our journey started very early 730 in the morning, and it seems they had enough bookings to fill 2 buses. Starting was not so pleasant, these girls' gang (3 ladies in their 40s), they all took window seats and nowthe guide is asking politely to sit them together so that the other person can board the bus, but no one wanna leave their window, and 3 seats were vacant. Hey, aunties, what about some basic courtesy? Everyone paid the same bucks, so don't act like you own the company Coming to the topic, the guide was witty, knowledgeable, and cool. Yes, I had some difficulty understanding the Scottish accent, but it's okay. The tour started with a quick coffee break at Calendar. Then we stopped at Trossachs Woollen Mill- This is possibly the most easiest way to spot highland cows in Scotland. The second stop was somewhere in the Scottish Highlands: beautiful surroundings, so soothing. Then we stopped at Commando Memorial, Fort Augustus Locks, and Loch Ness View Point, Fort Augustus. Each stop was a 15-45 min stop, depending on how big that attraction was. Loch Ness (Fort Augustus) was 2 hrs+ stop, as a few folks had to go on a boat tour. The bus was comfortable, and the guide kept telling us about stories of the highlands, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and stuff. Overall, it was a tiring but fun day, knowing many facts, stories, and visiting such a beautiful part of the world. read more

Honestly, the best tour I've ever taken. We, and two other couples took a private 5-day tour of the highlands. It was breathtaking and our guide, Michael, made sure we saw as much as possible without overwhelming us. He listened to our wish list items, gave practical advice in planning our days and shops and restaurants. We are a group mostly in our early to mid and upper 60's. We were completely comfortable, well cared for, and our guide was respectful that we were unabashed tourists. It was like being guided by a close personal friend. My wife and I had a tour with The Hairy Coo in October 2025 for Glencoe, Glenfinnan, and the Scottish Highlands. We really enjoyed the tour! The tour started at 8:30AM in Edinburgh and got back at about 8:30PM; we stopped for breakfast around 10:30 and slso bought packaged lunches while there, and we had multiple stops during the day for photos. We also stopped at the Glenfinnan Viaduct to watch the Hogwarts Express train from Harry Potter go by. As someone who gets motion sickness in a big bus I was sad to see there is not an option to pay extra to get the front seats in the bus as many other tours have. However we tried to arrive early to ensure our spot but got lost due to bad maps. Be advised you meet at the top of the hill in front of the Burns monument. Don't go down the path like we did. We ended up near the back of the bus which wasn't ideal especially when a couple with excessive cologne entered the seats behind us. The same couple proceeded to listen to their music at a high volume throughout the tour which was very distracting. When we mentioned it to our guide, Peter he said he would say something. To our knowledge he never did as after the next stop the couple stated again and we had to ask him ourselves to please use his headphones. He was VERY rude to us and said "I paid to be here" as if our seats were free. At no point did Peter intervene. This couples assaulting perfumes also triggered an asthmatic reaction in my sister who had to use her rescue inhaler. The rest of us had to use our scarves as masks to shield the smell. It was so strong that my coat still smells of it three days later! I truly feel something needs to be stated in their documents to not wear perfumes as it's clear some people do not understand shared space or how dangerous their favorite smell can be to others. While we enjoyed Peter and his storytelling with music we were unable to hear most of it due to the rudeness of this couple. I also would have preferred the tour begin a smidge later and cut out the breakfast stop. Or start at the same time and allow us more than 30 minutes in pitlockery. We had barely enough time to use the restroom and get a tea. read more

Paul is truly a gem! He made the entire 12 hour go in a blink and his passion for sharing the history is evident. If he isn't already, he should be the blueprint for how all tours are given. Would highly recommend! Tour bus was very cold, however we didn't complain and would rather the cold as opposed to being broiling. Bringing a lap blanket would have been nice but the first stop has them for sale. Paul shared with the group his family history with the clans to make it engaging and had a fun trivia game at the end - all easy material so nothing to worry over. I would genuinely do any tour Paul offered to see anything, ever. Only thing to note- tipping at the end is cash only so you will need to do currency exchange beforehand so you have cash for him- he deserves it! We did get a card from him that we can tip via pay pal and view his other media. He was not pushy at all and genuinely was a delight to be with. read more

A trip to Scotland wasn't complete for us without visiting Loch Ness but my new driving anxiety was not going to let me rent a car so I decided to book a 12 hour tour with The Hairy Coo, even though I kind of hate people who go on tours. Thankfully, our tour guide gave us a smooth ride, great facts and information and made us feel really welcome and happy. Not going to lie, what pushed me to book with The Hairy Coo was the chance to get up close and personal with some Highland cows. Even though that stop was one of the shortest we did, it was worth every penny to be able to pet, feed and get licked by one of these cows. The tour is long but honestly, our guide, Alistair, made the journey very pleasurable and it felt like it went by fairly fast. I knew we were in for a fun day as soon as I saw our driver Lucky in his Hairy Coo hat! Yes, it was a long day, but the bus was comfortable and Lucky kept us entertained with stories of each area we visited along with tidbits about film locations from Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Skyfall and even Monty Python. The scenery is beyond beautiful. There was time for lunch in the cute lakeside village before we boarded our cruise of Loch Ness. We didn't find Nessie but the cruise was still informative on a nice boat fully equipped with bar and toilets. I highly recommend this tour if you're visiting Edinburgh and have time. read more

We saw so many things that were incredibly beautiful and we were accompanied by a very special tour guide Ewan. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone on the bus was comfortable, happy and enjoying the adventure. I had an issue with leaving something behind at the hotel where I stayed in Inverness. He did not hesitate to help me and made arrangements to ensure I received it before I left Scotland. We are extremely disappointed with our recent experience with The Hairy Coo, specifically concerning the conduct of their driver. My family and I ultimately chose to disembark from the bus before our official tour even began due to his unacceptable behavior (a series of off-color comments, loud music and defensive attitude). This created a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere for us. We have since reached out to Trip Advisor and The Hairy Coo to be told that their driver has done no wrong and we have simply misunderstood him and the problem is ours. Driver performs as tour guide as well as driver of large bus full of people. This is not a safe way to tour. The driver can't help but be distracted with his focus on delivering tour dialog. Our driver, Dougie was professional in his continual admonishment of passengers who were chatting through his dialogue, which is indeed rude. His dialog was boring. He himself was irritating. While the tour itinerary was enjoyable I did not enjoy the 10 hour experience with an unlikable tour guide distracted by his actual need to drive too!! This company should have both a driver and a pleasant, likable, genuinely interesting and funny guide on its bus tours as is the case in most other tours I've taken. read more

We did the 3 day Isle of Skye tour with Anthony. Despite winter weather conditions and shorter day light, he made sure we saw over 800 miles of highland territory. (Not easy to do herding 17 people around!) He delivered skillful story telling with his cheerful, humorous demeanor during longer stretches of road and kept us very safe and informed at each stop. We saw everything we wanted to see even the unseasonal Harry Coo sighting! Even though the weather was very expected winter conditions, Anthony made our trip seem complete and extra special. The Hairy Coo tour company is well organized, efficient, has a safety first mentality, and all the while giving passengers freedom to explore what they prefer during stops. The Hairy Coo was absolutely incredible. Our tour guide, Anthony was hysterical and so much fun. I only wish that I had sat in the front of the bus, so we could keep each other entertained. The views along the tour were stunning, and we got to see a large part of Scotland in such an efficient time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting. We did the 3 day tour from Edinburgh and it was amazing! Our guide/driver "Wee Stevie" was so knowledgeable and fun. He kept us on track so we didn't miss anything and he helped create moments we otherwise wouldn't have had. He took a different route than other tour drivers would so that when we drove to places, we had it to ourselves. Our tour of the Scottish highlands with Hairy Coo was wonderful! We did the 1-Day Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands, Glencoe & Pitlochry tour. Our tour guide and driver, Martin, was delightful and entertaining. We loved hearing all the facts and story's he told thought our journey. The tour started with a short breakfast stop in Calendar, then we visited some hairy coos (Scottish cows) and got to feed them! Next we had a beautiful scenic drive up to Loch Ness with a nice picture stop along the way. We had a couple of hours in Loch Ness for lunch and a boat tour in the loch. We had anot her picture stop before the final stop in Pitlochry where we tried the highly recommended single malt whiskey ice cream. It was delicious! We took the Stirling Castle, the Kelpies, and Loch Lomond tour. Luckily, the weather was on our side, which made the scenic bus ride even more enjoyable. The landscapes were stunning and incredibly picturesque. The guide, while sharing a few stories along the way, wasn't really engaging. Also, none of the attraction entry fees were included in the ticket, which was a bit disappointing. Honestly, the highlight for me was meeting the hairy coos- that part was genuinely fun! read more
