The Hogwarts Express train from Harry Potter at the Glenfinnan Viaduct
    Eric O.

My wife and I had a tour with The Hairy Coo in October 2025 for Glencoe, Glenfinnan, and the Scottish Highlands. We really enjoyed the tour! The tour started at 8:30AM in Edinburgh and got back at about 8:30PM; we stopped for breakfast around 10:30 and slso bought packaged lunches while there, and we had multiple stops during the day for photos. We also stopped at the Glenfinnan Viaduct to watch the Hogwarts Express train from Harry Potter go by. The driver was friendly and funny and told stories about Scotland's history, which made the tour more enjoyable. Overall it was a fun day and a good tour.

Beautiful stop on the way to Loch Ness

Paul is truly a gem! He made the entire 12 hour go in a blink and his passion for sharing the history is evident. If he isn't already, he should be the blueprint for how all tours are given. Would highly recommend! Tour bus was very cold, however we didn't complain and would rather the cold as opposed to being broiling. Bringing a lap blanket would have been nice but the first stop has them for sale. Paul shared with the group his family history with the clans to make it engaging and had a fun trivia game at the end - all easy material so nothing to worry over. I would genuinely do any tour Paul offered to see anything, ever. Only thing to note- tipping at the end is cash only so you will need to do currency exchange beforehand so you have cash for him- he deserves it! We did get a card from him that we can tip via pay pal and view his other media. He was not pushy at all and genuinely was a delight to be with.

A trip to Scotland wasn't complete for us without visiting Loch Ness but my new driving anxiety was not going to let me rent a car so I decided to book a 12 hour tour with The Hairy Coo, even though I kind of hate people who go on tours. Thankfully, our tour guide gave us a smooth ride, great facts and information and made us feel really welcome and happy. Not going to lie, what pushed me to book with The Hairy Coo was the chance to get up close and personal with some Highland cows. Even though that stop was one of the shortest we did, it was worth every penny to be able to pet, feed and get licked by one of these cows. The tour is long but honestly, our guide, Alistair, made the journey very pleasurable and it felt like it went by fairly fast. I loved his jokes mixed in with the landscape sights and the historical tales. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who asked me.

Laura the bus driven by the incomparable Lucky!

I knew we were in for a fun day as soon as I saw our driver Lucky in his Hairy Coo hat! Yes, it was a long day, but the bus was comfortable and Lucky kept us entertained with stories of each area we visited along with tidbits about film locations from Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Skyfall and even Monty Python. The scenery is beyond beautiful. There was time for lunch in the cute lakeside village before we boarded our cruise of Loch Ness. We didn't find Nessie but the cruise was still informative on a nice boat fully equipped with bar and toilets. I highly recommend this tour if you're visiting Edinburgh and have time.

We had an amazing time on our Highlands and Distillery tour. Our kilted guide was fun, told us stories and provided interesting lessons of Scottish history. He also had a wonderfully curated song list of Scottish musicians that provided the perfect soundtrack for the beautiful Scottish landscapes. The distillery tour was informative and tasty. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Hello, This is John Mclachlan from Florida. we just are so happy with Colin. He made our trip that more amazing! What a great person you have representing your Company. People like him are hard to find. We took the hairy coo tour to the Scottish high lands and the lochness. we will forever remember our wonderful experience.

The three day tour exceeded all expectations of seeing some of the best that Scotland has to offer. We saw so many things that were incredibly beautiful and we were accompanied by a very special tour guide Ewan. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone on the bus was comfortable, happy and enjoying the adventure. I had an issue with leaving something behind at the hotel where I stayed in Inverness. He did not hesitate to help me and made arrangements to ensure I received it before I left Scotland. It was obvious that he loved what he did and he loves Scotland and enjoyed being with people touring his beautiful country. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. The pictures are some of my favorite spots that we toured and will return to in future visits to Scotland

    Harry Potter train.

This 3-day of the Highlands and the Isle of Skye was THE highlight of a trip that has been loaded with them. The grandeur and staggering beauty of the landscape defies description, surpassing anything I've experienced. The tour was beautifully choreographed with one wonderful experience after another. Our guide, Dougie, was an efficient, organized, knowledgeable, effervescent, ebullient, one-of-kind man I'll never forget. I'll miss him and Scotland terribly!

Very funny, knowledgeable tour guide! Friendly and kind. Saw so much of Scotland we wouldn't have seen otherwise!

I was taking a diabetic medicine that was causing some bathroom issues and she did an emergency stop for me and I am so grateful. I highly recommend tours to see Uk as driving on the other side of the road and a million turn about circles is terrifying so let the professionals take that stress from you. Plus they know where the cool stuff is and when to go. Our other tours in other countries the driver and guide were separate, so she gets bonus points for doing it all and to perfection. the roads are so narrow and scary but she did great. this was first time using this company but left willing to take other tours with Rabbies. She didn't say anything about tips which most do .. but bring tip money and reward exceptional service. We went on the trip with another couple and made some lovely memories. Loved going with friends even made it more special but in other trips we ended up making friends for life so either way is great. We did a stop near an ancient Village I think Vikings anyway there were some shops there where my friend bought a purse and I kicked myself for not going in there and getting one too. I thought the purse prices would be better in Edinburgh they were made with the local Fabric and real leather. When we got to Edinburgh the purses were not as well made and they were more expensive and a lot of them weren't even with real leather or made locally. The Edinburgh purse is a lot of them they use the fabric woven there but they made them out of the country probably China or India. Anyway I that is my biggest regret of the trip that I didn't buy an Islander purse. Now I'm going to have to see if I can buy one online and it'll be a lot more money. So if you go to the Isle of sky and you want a bag or a purse you might want to keep that in mind. My friend bought one that was more large than what I would have wanted but it was around a hundred and some dollars great price for the quality. It's well known that the UK is not known for its great weather. Lots of rain and can be very windy around the cliffs and water. I bought vessie shoes which are waterproof and comfortable but kind of expensive. I also took a raincoat with a hood and a hat with a brim and a chin strap because the wind around the cliffs is real. This hat is especially nice because it has a mesh netting that you can unclip in case you're getting in a buggy area which around the ferry pools we needed. If you don't need the netting you can just clip it back up and so it's really handy. The UK and pretty much most of Europe we find that they like twin beds in the hotels and especially the b&bs. I guess people don't like each other lol and want to sleep together. So we would call ahead and ask that they push the beds together before we get there if that was the case. They also don't seem to have air conditioning screens on the windows or sheets on the beds?? Sometimes places will have fans so it's worth asking or calling ahead to see if you can reserve a fan because they definitely don't have enough fans for every room. If you stay in a US-based hotel like a Hilton or Marriott Holiday Inn you don't have to deal with this as much but I guess it's just common in Europe. Traveling through the summer or heat wave months this can be a bit of a problem. The bed seemed all have these duvets which is great if it's cold out but when it's too warm it's a bit uncomfortable. Since we were roasting we had to open the window didn't love that there was no screen and a lot of the windows are made to where you can only open them about an inch so it doesn't provide much air. This was the case through all of the UK not just the Isle of Skye.
