My husband and I visited this salon due to convenience and were pretty disappointed. There was over a 30 minute wait for my appointment, this defeats the point of taking time to schedule a treatment and does not respect a patrons time. The employees were nice, however most conversations around were not in English which is bothersome, it took some explaining to get the service we requested due to language barriers...even with the list of services in my hand. Overall a decent product but so many small features such as the customer service and clean or new towels (old and rag tag) would have made it a better expense. For a $50+ service in addition to my husbands $50+ service it wasn't worth it. We have been to establishments that had better accommodations, newer equipment, and excellent customer service and will return there. read more

Went to this salon for over five years, faithfully every two weeks, getting a pedicure and a fill. Service slipped over the last few months until the final visit where the owner, TOM, did a horrific job on my nails. There was a blemish on literally every nail. I was in a hurry and didn't look closely before leaving the salon. When I looked at them closer when I got home, I was so disappointed. I sent pictures to them as I am a long time customer and felt they would make it right. Instead, they canceled my upcoming appointments and told me to find another salon. I was shocked that after so many years and literally thousands of dollars, customer referrals to them, etc. and that is how they treated me. Well, plot twist and blessing - found a great new salon - Glamorous Nails on Tudor. Christie is amazing and did my nails exactly how I asked. Save your money and avoid Celebrity Nails. The owner is pathetic and unprofessional - literally can't stand behind his own work and make things right with his loyal customers. Pathetic. read more

The owner Tam is wonderful! He usually takes care of my manicure, and remembers me when I come in. The salon is always clean, and parking is easy to find. I just tried their spa pedicure for the first time the other day, and it was heavenly! For $15 extra you can add on an additional 10 minute massage for your feet and calves. The regular massage that is included was enough for me, but options are nice. And the hot towel at the end is so relaxing! The quality of their work is good. I enjoy having my manicure last a solid 2 weeks, and the shellac and acrylics they do look very natural. They have a big variety of shellac colors that are easy to browse (you can look at swatches and not bottles). It's nice that I don't feel rushed when I come here, even when I don't make an appointment. If you want to avoid the crowd, make a 10 or 11 am appointment, or at least be there in that timeframe. They usually fill up pretty quickly, and while an appointment isn't necessary, I try to be courteous to the owner and his staff. Tip: if you get regular polish on your nails and are in a rush, let them dry for 5 minutes then run them under the faucet with cold water for 2 minutes before you leave. It'll set your manicure faster and reduce the chance of you nicking it! read more

Recently had a mani-pedi. This was my first visit to this salon. One lady did the manicure which was done carefully. She took her time and applied several coats of polish. Another lady did the massage and prepping for the pedicure, and a third lady applied the polish to my toenails. The lady who did the massage and prepping did a decent job. However the lady who applied the toenail polish was rushed and didn't seem careful. I noticed she did not use a clear coat before applying the gel color. When I left the salon, I felt pretty satisfied (except for the lack of the layer of the clear polish on my toenails). The next day, however, one of my toenails was completely missing polish. Several days later a second toe was completely missing polish. It was as though they just completely peeled off. (Not chipped, completely gone). The manicure began chipping very prematurely (on the fifth day, I noticed several large chips in my finger nails). It makes me wonder if perhaps there was something inadequate with their curing lights? Regardless, for $120 before tip, missing polish completely, and very premature chipping is a huge disappointment. After exactly 9 days, I ended up going to another salon to have the toenail polish completely removed and the pedicure/polish redone. I've never had this happen before in other salons. I will not return to this salon and absolutely do not recommend. read more

I had the best experience at Celebrity nails. I had never been there before because I don't live on that side of town, but honestly I'd make the trip just to have Tom do my nails again! Previously I went to another nail salon and had terrible acrylics put on. They made my nails all different shapes, sizes, and lengths. When I went to celebrity nails on a whim I was immediately greeted and seated. I had great conversations with multiple of the nail techs and Tom was lucky able to fix all the problems that the last salon had left me with. These nails are absolutely perfect and the first time I've actually been completely satisfied with my purchase of nails. Tom was also great because he went through and explained to me where the last salon had messed up and how you could tell that the previous salon had used cheap acrylic powder. They're pricing is great! Tom was shocked to hear I paid $70 for a full set of simple nails. I was very happy with my experience and I will definitely be returning! read more

UPDATE: Ended up coming back 2 weeks later (this review is overdue I know I know) and was running about 5 minutes late. I called in advance before the scheduled appointment since it was heavily snowing, roads were bad, you all know how Alaska gets. They tell me take my time, it's no worry, they understand. Great! I get there, and I see my nail tech is freshly starting on a new full set. I think maybe he's just getting it started for someone, WRONG! He completes her full set and makes me wait an hour after my scheduled appointment time. Every time I tried to ask how much longer they looked annoyed and spoke to each other in their own language first before responding to me. This establishment doesn't care about appointments so don't even try to make one. First come is first served. ALSO, after finally getting my nails done I had noticed 2 air bubbles before the top coat even went on. The nail tech tried putting on top coat to get rid of it but I think you all know how that played out.. I told him the air bubble was still there and he still tried to do the same to the other nail with a bubble in it as well but I had to pull my hands away and ask politely for him to redo the 2 nails completely. He again looked annoyed with having to do the extra task. I thought I had found a new nail tech but lol jk read more

Love this place. :D My friend got her nails done here and immediately booked us pedicures, which I am very grateful for. A basic pedi is $35, which includes a heavenly exfoliation scrub and hot towels. And the massage chairs were very thorough - I want one now! The service was fantastic and the lady who waxed my eyebrows was so sweet. I also like their child-free policy - children aren't allowed unless they're getting a procedure done [i.e. a manicure for a little girl] AND they're well-behaved. The best pedicure I have ever had. The place didnt smell like the typical nail salon. they also offer waxing and have contact info for masseuses' Nice. The lady who did my pedicure was very good, she saw that i have a huge scar on my ankle and heal (surgery) and took care not to over do it with the massage or the pumiceing. The chairs are very comfortable. When we sat down, they even asked us if we wanted hot tea or water with lemon. The massage on the legs and feet was very relaxing and nice. I suppose this is partly my fault as I've always gone in as a walk-in, but if walk-ins are such an imposition, I'd prefer to be offered an appointment, rather than accommodated with dramatic sighs and eye-rolling. It's a strip-mall establishment, conveniently located to home. Unfortunately, it's not particularly welcoming and the prices aren't anything to write home about. Got a pedicure here and it was great! I just got the normal pedicure and they were very thorough. They massage your legs and feet a lot longer than some of the other places I've been too and it's fairly reasonably priced, too. They are very friendly and greet you as you walk in the door. Everything is very clean and neat looking, which is always a must. Definitely will be going back here in the future! read more

It is so chunky/thick, it was smudged on multiple nails, and my cuticles are even worse than they were when I got there from being nicked by the drill. What I asked for vs what I got. The nail tech ripped (NOT an exaggeration) my old acrylic set off with a dirty plastic nail tip from a rusty altoids tin! My nail beds were the color of blood and he placed chemical acrylic over them and I almost cried. I told them it was burning and they ignored me. My hands are currently sitting in bowls of Ice. They charged me $85 for acrylic nails with basic nail polish. So I'm assuming he charged me extra to injure my nails. They are in so much pain right now & with how nothing in the shop was sanitized or clean I'm just praying they don't get infected and fall off. They do not have the proper materials and are only capable of BASIC nails. Take your $$ elsewhere especially at this price for a regular set. Never in 35 years have I had an experience even close to this at a nail salon. Easy to blame on miscommunication considering they do not speak English at all unless you are cashing out. read more

Expensive for an ALRIGHT set of acrylics. I paid $50 for a full set of acrylics that weren't up to my standards. Coming from California, I expect a lot from nail salons. It's also ridiculous that I had to pay well above what I'm used to for a set that had regular polish (that I had brought myself) and I didn't even get a clear gel coat on top but regular Seche Vite clear top coat that I have at home. Celebrity Nails is the only nail salon in Anchorage that I have found that STERILIZES their tools in an autoclave!!! I am diabetic so it is very important that these tools are clean. Tom and Ka were fantastic. Their prices are phenomenal compared to other salons that aren't nearly as clean. I would give them 100 stars if I could! I can't wait for another pedicure. Tom and Ka will be my go-to people! Their staff is so friendly and approachable and HAPPY!!! Did I mention they STERILIZE their tools in an autoclave?!?! Massively impressed. They also don't hide their gel prices like most places do and charge an arm and a leg at the end. They told me the price of the pedicure before I dipped my toes in the water. I've been going to this place for going on 3 months now and I'm sad to say the quality has slowly been going down. The first time was great. The second time a little worse, and so on. I decided to get SNS nails after gel nails, they failed to take off the gel completely before just covering it with the SNS which I didn't realize until I went to get new SNS. The second SNS (and ever last I'll be returning) began lifting after a week. Extremely disappointed. For how ridiculous they charge for their services, it shouldn't be such poor jobs.
