    Cedars Combo
    Nate L.

Another one of my go-tos in Northern New Jersey. Highly recommend this place for any occasion whether it be a party, get together or just a quick dinner. Cedars is a BYOB location with amazing hookah, amazing service and amazing food. It can be quiet during the day but very lively at night. I tend to get a table in the sunroom area as there is always a nice breeze and not as loud as inside. Everything about this place is great. French fries are always amazing, hookahs always lit and food is always delicious. They will help put your alcoholic beverages in ice buckets to keep it cold and will also provide shot glasses/ glass cups for hard alcohol. Cedars Combo: four different dips accompanied with a side of pita. All dips are very refreshing and packed with flavor. Fries: crispy, flavorful and never a disappointment Cedars Mixed grill: combo with filet mignon, kufta (ground beef) and chicken skewers on a pita with a side of rice or french fries. Make sure you ask for EXTRA garlic sauce Hookah: watermelon mint is always my go to

Absolutely amazing!! Up from North Carolina, my big brother told me he was taking out to Lebanese for lunch. What an experience!! We had a blast smoking the blueberry mist hookah and the food was TO DIE FOR!! I let him order because he was in the know!! We started with a tabbouleh salad and then an appetizer plate of hummus, baba ghanouj, muhamara and labneh with pita. The best was a frozen, fresh, mint lemonade!! Be still my beating heart!! My brother ordered a mixed grill plate with shrimp, chicken, lamb chop, beef and kufta. Combine all these flavors and items together and it was heaven. We topped it off with a dessert for two and a Lebanese coffee!! What an experience. Lots of leftovers and no need need to have dinner tonight!! All thanks to my big bro!!

Cedars is always a fun time! We had a girls night here on a Saturday night. We made reservations for 9p and the music started at 10:30. There were two singers and a belly dancer. The food is always delicious here. Your ticket includes cold appetizers, hot appetizers, meat platter, and dessert. It is BYOB and you can also buy hookah.

Ordered: Saturday Prix Fixe Menu (~$75/person + 20% gratuity): includes cold appetizers such as hummus, baba ghanouj, taboule, and kibbe neyeh; hot appetizers such as kibbeh, borak, spicy potato, and sujok; entrees including chicken and kufta kabab with rice Watermelon with Mint Hookah (~$34) Lemonade with Mint Pitcher (~$18) Aya's take: Cedars puts on great events on Fridays and Saturdays. We came by on a Saturday to celebrate a birthday. On Saturdays, they have live Arabic singers & a belly dancer. The food menu is set, so all you have to do is come and have a good time. You're honestly paying for the live entertainment because the food itself is good but definitely doesn't justify the price. Between the Prix Fixe, and any hookah or drinks you order, you're easily at $100+ per person. Nonetheless, being Lebanese, Cedars is authentic, super fun, and very accommodating of all party sizes.

This is the second time I have been here and really enjoyed both experiences. Inside there was plenty of seating and they allow hookah inside. The waiter tended to us immediately and recommended I get the lamb chops which were delicious. The lamb was perfectly cooked and flavorful. It came with seasoned pita, rice, and a roasted tomato. This dish really was good. As I type this review I am making plans to return... seriously. The hookah was also good. They bring a large hookah which is perfect for bigger groups since the charcoal does not burn the tobacco as quickly as smaller ones do. They bring more than enough tips and have a variety of flavors to choose from. If you want good food give this place a try. Note: they also have an outdoor area which is heated and is livelier than the inside if you want a more eventful experience. Inside is more intimate. I'll definitely be back.

The food was absolutely amazing! Growing up close with a Lebanese family and this was one of the restaurants they suggested. It did not disappoint. For an app we got the hummus as pictured and the Lebanese sausages which I highly recommend. The flavor of the sausages was so authentic. For a meal I got the mixed grill which came with kefta (my favorite) steak and grilled chicken. I can not wait to go back. they also have a nice outdoor seating where you can enjoy hookah.

One of my clients wanted to get food from this location. The order was called in and I added on the chicken shish kabaob sandwich. When I arrived I walked in and waited a bit for the lady to come ring me up. When she did I paid and left. When I ate the sandwich was ok. I wasn't feeling some of the ingredients inside and picked them out. All in all I had an ok experience.

I came here a couple of months ago with a group of my girlfriends, and it was such a friendly experience. They accommodated all of our seating requests (we asked to switch tables about 3 times!). They also did a great job with respect to our food orders (they ensured we did not order TOO much food for the table or too LITTLE food). My favorite food item was by far the dip platter. I am quite sure I devoured the majority of it. I actually enjoyed that this was a BYOB atmosphere- because we were able to bring a bunch of our own bottles, and got to drink what we wanted, and the price we were willing to pay! No watered down drinks here! I really would love to return as soon as possible. I am excited to see what this place is like in a sort of "post-covid" era that we are now in.

    Branzino is always perfect

This is by far my favorite Lebanese restaurant in NJ. The branzino is always made perfectly. That lemon garlic sauce they make here is different from any other I've tried. I literally come here for the fish and the sauce. They do it perfectly. Service is always great and so is the ambiance, especially outdoors in the summer. You'll love it

I love Cedars! I have been coming here for about 3 years now. The service is awesome. They're always very attentive. The food is really great. The sweet chicken is delicious and so is the calamari. I love that it's BYOB & they have the best hookah around!

4-16-22 we came back for Good Friday. We got the fried whiting and the brazino. We really love the fried whiting - they were delicious. We got them with fries. The service was excellent as it was before 7pm, and there were very few customer. Anyway, we would love to come back for more fried whiting fish. Excellent food, good atmosphere, and good service! We went on Easter Sunday and it was packed. We had 11 people in our party and we packed into two small tables. It was crowded and we barely had any space to move around. There was no music or entertainment on this day. However, the lighting was pretty and it was organized. We got package number two for $35 per person which includes hummus, Baba ghanouj, kibbeh neyah, tabouleh, kibbeh, Borak, makanik, spicy tomato, kufta, shish tawook, and rice. The food was very delicious. We especially loved the kibbeh neyah, spicy tomato, kufta and shish tawook. We also got blue mist hookah, which was okay. Overall, we really like the place and we will most definitely come back with family.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.

I ordered my favorite fried liver cubes from the hot apps section, and it was fantastic. It was full of flavor, perfectly sized cubes and properly fried. Tasted so good with the complimentary bread (we requested a second one). For entree we ordered the Mix Grill and Karisik Izgara as it was a perfectly sharable dish for two and we got to try 5 of their kebabs that are lamb shish, ground lamb, chicken shish, ground chicken and grilled meat patties. Both ground kebabs were excellent, full of flavors. The shish and patties were also good. We got the margarita pizza too, but that one was disappointed, seemed like some sauce was just thrown on top of the cheese and wasn't baked long enough. Our server was really friendly. She always stayed on top of things. Our dishes came out in quick time, it was impressive. On weekends it's walk-in only and the wait is usually 40 minutes to an hour. There was some confusion with our name on the list, but staff handled it quickly and got it resolved. We were started with a basket of three fresh pitas, which was a nice touch. Drink options include soft sodas (MX coca cola) tea, and lemonade and the mint lemonade stood out, very lemony and refreshing, but a bit on the cold side. We ordered the Al Basha mezze, substituting falafel instead of the meat patties (kibbeh). This is a great option if you want variety esp given most of the dips were pretty decent overall. The muhammara was the standout and the baba ghanoush was really good. The tabbouleh didn't work for me, imo the parsley could've been chopped finer. For the main, I had the chicken kebab platter with rice (you can choose rice or fries). It comes with garlic sauce. The chicken was tender and not bad, but the rice could use more flavor, maybe lemon or additional seasoning. Next time I'd probably ask for hot sauce or mix it with some of the mezze dips. Service moves quickly throughout most of the meal, though there was a bit of a wait at the end for the check. Gratuity is included, which is good to know / makes things easier! The ambiance is very nice, but I do wish we had a chance to be seated in the back half of the restaurant, which is where it feels especially vibey, but overall it's a beautiful space. This review is for the dine-in location on Crooks Ave, not their separate takeout spot. TLDR: Overall, Al Basha offers a lovely setting, fresh food, and a menu with enough variety that most people can find something they'll enjoy. While there are a few areas that could be improved, it's definitely worth trying at least once, and you may find something up your alley if you're looking for fresh Middle Eastern food in a lively, vibey restaurant.
