Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a steak gal and usually do not frequent these establishments. However, recently, my husband and I were headed to Foxwoods for a comedy show, and when looking for a place to eat beforehand - Mark C (who loves a good steak) suggested we try out Cedars. I checked the menu and as there were some fish and chicken options I said "let's go". I called ahead for reservations, which is a must (especially on the weekend), and did not have to wait long after we arrived to be seated. The restaurant is gorgeous and once we were brought back to the dining room, I felt like I was in a different world and I mean that in the best possible way! Our waitress was a delight and was prompt with the butter with not 1 but 2 types of butter. And once we devoured those - she was nice enough to bring out another basket. The menu is pricey - I am not going to lie but when compared to the other dining options at Foxwoods - you definitely pay for what you get. The menu is pretty diverse - with options for the vegetarian and carnivore in your life. We started with the country salad - enough for 2 people and served with house made dressing. I appreciated both the "house made" dressing and the fact that it was served on the side so that diners could put as much or as little as they wanted on their salad. And in the interest of full disclosure - I actually ordered steak - I know shocking BUT it was marinated (one of the only ways that I will willingly eat steak) and served medium rare (the only way I eat my steak). Unsurprisingly - Mark C did as well. Our food was brought out soon after we were down with our salads - a point I appreciate. There is nothing worse than being brought your entree when you are not done with your appetizer/salad. The steak were cooked perfectly and although I did "disgrace" my steak with steak sauce - it was still delicious on it's own. I made a reservation to Cedars to celebrate my friends birthday and we seriously waited for a half hour before anyone ever greeted us at our table. I was getting quite irritated especially after I tried to get my servers attention twice only to be ignored. I finally tracked someone down and expressed my irritation. Finally the server came over apologizing and took our drinks off the menu at the end, thus the three stars. Otherwise I would have given them a 2 star review. My friends streak was ok and my clam chowder was good but my salad was mediocre. The stand out was our strawberry shortcake dessert. Sorry Cedars but I will not be back. Cedars Steakhouse is a fine dining experience within Foxwoods Resorts. I loved my lunch at Cedars; the food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend ordering the crab cake. The tartar sauce was a bit thick but it complimented well with the large crab meat filling. The New England clam chowder was smooth, perfectly boiled, with the right amount of cream and milk to potatoes. I had the Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat appetizer which was really good that came with the melted butter on the side which I really enjoyed. We requested a seating change and were accommodated most graciously. Reseated at a more conducive table for 'fine dining', we perused the menu. The pretzel buns they serve are AMAZING. I had 3, and it was really good with the raspberry butter. I got a chicken sandwich and it was incredibly messy. I'm not sure if 2 stars is fair but I really wanted to show my disappointment. This is probably the 4th time I've eaten here. Twice I was seated in the dining room. The last two times I have been in the bar area. Yesterday I was seated at the bar and the first thing I noticed was how dirty the floor was. Not just a random fry on the floor but lemons and potatoes and just dirt. Now it was about 10:30pm. and one of the few places at Foxwoods besides, the food court, that was still open so they were busy. But there were also a number of employees who spent a lot of time standing, looking around with their arms folded. The bar was gross. There were dirty glasses with some kind of liquid inside that was inviting fruit flies. It was messy an unkempt and no one was doing anything to fix that. The food was DELICIOUS. I don't care if you charge $10 or $50 for a steak, your restaurant needs to be clean. The only reason why we stayed was because our options were very limited and we were hungry. But the likelihood of us returning soon is very slim even with the phenomenal food. read more

But the atmosphere is reminiscent of an Applebees with luxury steakhouse prices. The service was almost non existent. Giving this place 3 stars because the service was great and that at least deserved credit, but the food here was mediocre at best. Clam Cakes hardly had any clams in it at all. I understand they are fritters and are supposed to be fried in the batter, but that's all I tasted....and it had a funny after taste. A dipping sauce might have helped. The portion of the clam chowder that comes with this is way too small, so I got to upgrade with a bowl on the side for an additional $3 which was worth it for the portion but it was definitely not the best clam chowder I've had. Our Bone-in Ribeye was supposed to be cooked Medium Well however it was definitely overcooked so it was not that appetizing at all and had no flavor whatsoever. Not worth the price at all. We did not bother to ask for them to remake it because tables around us already showed their complaints and a couple even stood up and left after the kitchen went back and forth to fix their order THREE different times. I liked the salmon from the Soy Glazed Grilled Salmon Salad was probably the best part, along with the fried calamari. The bread basket was also delicious and I liked the different choices of butter. I always choose Cedars when at Foxwoods and always order the Wedge Salad as I did this visit. The salad has been changed up, the blue cheese is no longer Maytag or of the same quality, there are no bacon strips but small pieces of chopped bacon, mushy weird cherry tomatoes that were maybe fermented were on top and honestly kinda grossed me out. I'll still go to Cedars but for $17. I will not be ordering the Wedge Salad. If it ain't broke don't fix it Cedars, bring back the original. read more

Our waitress (Michelle) was fantastic, a little unpolished, but so am I (therefore who am I to judge)! The manager stopped by a couple times to check on how the meal was going, which is nice. Food was great. Started with scallops and bacon, as well as stuffed mushrooms. The bacon was super thick, tender and delicious, scallops were good. Mushrooms were also good. For main courses, my wife had the meatloaf, which was a towering portion, and I had the steak frites. I was anticipating the hanger steak to be a long cut (that's usually how it's prepared), but these were plump pieces. The steak came with a sauce, which gave it some flavor. One of the others ordered the bone in ribeye, which was a thinner cut than I was expecting (as I was considering ordering that myself). Finished off with a strawberry shortcake (which was a white cake with shipped cream frosting and a few sliced strawberries), and the Berry Festival, which was the highlight (smorgasbord). It's my second time here but first time for Thanksgiving dinner with my spouse. We decided a change of place this year. We were seated in a booth and we are definitely social distanced from the tables around us. Our reservation was at 1.15pm. Our server was Miles. We both ordered the Thanksgiving dinner plate with a butternut squash soup and a slice of pumpkin pie for dessert to share. If we had known that we were given dark and white meat, I would have gotten all dark meat. We were impressed with the turkey meat, homemade mashed potatoes with giblets gravy and butternut squash as vegetables and cranberry sauce made from scratch. Everything tasted as delicious as homemade include the pumpkin pie slice we shared. We will definitely return for special occasions in the near future. So I am a huge Christmas fan and my husband found out that Cedars decorated for Christmas early so we went at the end of November and saw the rooms beautifully decorated and themed. It had been a long while since I had been to Cedars and we had a Frank as a server, and he was absolutely delightful, very attentive, but also not overbearing and allowed us to have a fabulous date night. The food was a good portion size. We each got an entrée and shared a calamari. My husband enjoyed the calamari more than I did for me. The breading was a little too much. The entrées were very good My husband got the prime rib and I got a salmon dish. Needless to say that I had leftovers for the next day because it was a good size. The lemon butter sauce on the salmon was very rich and at times a little too much and heavy but it complemented the rest of the entrée very well, I did not bring any of it for my leftovers for the next day, though. This is the first time my boyfriend and I have gone to this restaurant. We made a reservation for his birthday for a Saturday night. Our waitress was very courtesy from the start. I ordered the Mac and Cheese, the crab cake,, and a dozen oysters.The Mac and Cheese was good but definitely not something that tastes like home. The crab cake was fresh and very meaty. The only thing I did not like about the crab cake was the burnt underside which our waitress said what something that is usual for that dish. The oysters were good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend asked for a medium steak and it was undercooked. If it were my steak I would have eaten it as I enjoy it a little undercooked. The waitress took it back to be recooked and during this time my boyfriend was afraid it would be burnt but came back just as soft and perfect for him. At the end of our evening our waitress brought out the Happy Birthday Chocolate Cake. Now, my boyfriend and I hate chocolate cake and would have rather have eaten a cheesecake. However, we didn't want the waitress to feel bad so we ate some. The cake was moist and fluffy but the raspberry sauce was the star. If you like chocolate cake I believe this would be great for you. Made my reservations months in advance for Thanksgiving. I was disappointed from start to finish. Most upsetting was the DRY TURKEY. It was so dried out it was crumbling. Next was the tablespoon full of stuffing and gravy. It was horrible, simply ruined our day. I have never found turkey difficult to prepare, and the price charged there should have been ample portions with properly trimmed green beans... Vines still attached.
