Yesterday afternoon, we stopped for lunch at Golden Dragon, located at the Fox Woods Casino in Connecticut. It was a wonderful day, after playing at the slot machines for hours, we decided to eat here. We were a group of 12 people. I loved the decor. Everything was painted in a dark forest green, with touches of gold accents everywhere. The chandeliers were beautiful. The food arrived piping hot and swiftly. I ordered a shrimp Singapore noodle stir fry. It was delicious and warm, with some curry and garlic notes. And of course, for me the start of the menu was...the delicious and garlicky bok choy! It's the best bok choy I've ever eaten so far. I just added a touch of soy sauce. My parents ordered a bowl of shrimp fried rice and pork fried rice. Everything was so tasty, that we ate in complete silence! The check was evenly processed...and I gotta say that for 12 people, is a good deal for $33 a person is a great, and a lot of great food that we ended up taking home! read more

It's CRAP. I capitalized that so you would pay attention. The food here just completely sucks, don't waste your time or money. Among the edible items we ordered, at least the spring rolls and dumplings were recently thawed, although tasteless. The Szechuan beef was bland garbage with minute particles of beef in a noxious goo, and whatever that pork belly thing was was the stuff of nightmares, like a quarter pound of room temp lard adorning a pile of "eggplant" that looked fresh from the holding tank of a Port-A-Potti. Ok so I really wanted to like this place. But first impressions - the waitress was awful and the customer care was lackluster. From getting drinks to refilling water - I kept having to get up and find service. Then we had a party of 15 - it's the casino - it is easy to split the bill- why did she have such a hard time. After talking to the manager she did it. This is all before we even took our order. Then a casino establishment- out of crab Rangoons and chicken wings. Oh wait - after I asked the manager they magically had chicken wings -Come on!!! Then forget about appetizers and dinner - the food came out sporadically with no order in mind. A total mess. And speaking about this food - too expensive for the quality. The food was luke warm and not special at all. So overall - we were greeted with terrible service - lacking food quality and all at a very high price. Come on Foxwoods - Do better!! The last Golden Dragon was much much much better than this. The best thing was the beautifully aesthetically pleasing dining room - however there was no sound ambiance. Oh and the manager was nice but why did I have to keep going to her? And to top the whole experience off- the waitress - after a laughingly unpleasant time, circled the 20% tip at the bottom of the bill which left us wondering if the tip was added already. And again we had to ask the manager because it was very confusing. I regret giving her a tip at all but as a former restaurant worker I know how servers rely on their tips to live but girl you got to get it together because people will not be as nice as me. Visited the new Golden Dragon location in Foxwoods since they redid it. It looks a lot fancier- more dark tones and whatnot, also there's no more big windows looking out onto the Foxwoods hallways so it's a lot quieter. That's where the positives stop... it's so expensive!! And the food is decent, but it doesn't look super appetizing and the portions are incredibly small. I used to really enjoy coming here but it's probably another Foxwoods restaurant I'm crossing off my list- leaving only a few left! But just look at the rice- it doesn't look like fried rice and it's lacking a lot of flavor. Even though it's the seafood fried rice, the seafood was sparse. I wanted so bad to be impressed! The general tso's was good but there were like, 18 pieces of chicken (if that) for $25. Any local Chinese haunt would give you triple that for half the price, so it's hard to justify. We came to Foxwoods for a small birthday celebration, and the birthday boy chose Golden Dragon. We decided to order a variety of dishes to share, and I always appreciate when meals are served family-style. I had the pan-fried shrimp, while the table shared the honey short ribs and five-spice pork belly. The portions were a bit small for the price, but the flavors definitely made up for it -- everything was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. The staff was quick and friendly, and the service overall made the experience even better. The table was spacious and comfortable. We also tried a few desserts: the mango pudding, five-spice chocolate cake, and a matcha dessert (I didn't catch the name, but it was very good). We were hungry and somehow never noticed this place on any other visit so we decided to try it. It wasn't too busy but we were able to be seated right away. We shared crab rangoon which were pretty good. For the entrée, I got the beef stir fry, which comes with white rice. It wasn't a big serving for the price, but I was content with the quality. I would give them a negative score if I could. Went to this restaurant with my family and 2 friends and their kid, to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We brought a birthday cake with us. The manager seeing the birthday, let us in. The service team brought us 2 candles, sang happy birthday song, brought us plates to share the cakes. Then in the middle of having the birthday cake, the manager interrupted and said, "no outside food is allowed, you will have to pack the birthday cake and be gone". This totally surprised and upset us. She should have told us "no outside food is allowed" before letting us in the restaurant. Her attitude is rude and rigid. And called the security after we refused to pack the cake to go. My daughter birthday dinner was ruined. I am sad to write a poor review of this place because I have been dying to come here for years. We ordered scallion pancakes for an appetizer, tonkatsu ramen, and Peking duck. For drinks we ordered the plum wine and a Mai tai. The tonkatsu ramen came out the same time as the scallion pancakes which I found to be odd because my friend did not receive their Peking duck at the same time. The scallion pancakes were good. The plum wine was very good, the mai tai was a huge thumbs down. The Peking duck was not worth the price of what was received. It was a very small portion and looked to be the 1/3 size duck that was available as an appetizer and not the 1/2 duck for $79. My friend said it was good but did not come with the normal fixings or sides that my friend has received at other places, my friend also stated this was the most he has paid for Peking duck and it was not even close to the size of the duck he has gotten at other places. The ramen I was very disappointed in. It was just unseasoned clear chicken broth and not the normal creamy broth you receive at other ramen places. My ramen only had pieces of pork belly (which were flavorless and hard to chew), noodles, and a couple of scallions. I asked the waitress where the other toppings were and that is when she advised me they were out. If she had told me about that when I ordered I would not have ordered the ramen. The ramen was very bland and usually I can eat a meal I don't enjoy but I couldn't even eat this. I was hoping the waitress would come back around so I could advise her I did not like my meal so I could order another meal, but the only time she came back was to drop off the check and quickly walk away. If you're looking for American Chinese food, Golden Dragon is not the place. When all your options at Foxwoods consist of burgers and milkshakes, Golden Dragon provides sanctuary for those who don't want to destroy their body. The biggest headache is waiting on line for the place. By the time my partner and I got to the front and saw the dirty tables waiting to be serviced, we realized that the place was heavily understaffed. This is not a good sign, especially on a Saturday. Despite the wait, the food and service inside was great. My partner and I ordered the vegetable spring rolls to start followed by chicken lo mein and roast duck noodle soup. The vegetable spring rolls are nice and crispy without being greasy and the chicken lo mein is the cleanest and most flavorful chicken lo mein I've had in a while. The roast duck noodles are good but not as flavorful which I didn't mind so much since everything else at Foxwoods is salty and greasy. We finished with the mango pudding (hong kong style) which tasted exactly like the mango puddings of my childhood. The service was good and our waters were filled throughout our visit. The servers know Chinese so you know they cater to an Asian crowd. Ambiance is similar to any type of high end Asian spot with the oriental architecture and dim lighting. Like the backrooms of the Asian restaurants featured in Rush Hour. When it comes to the quality of the food, the reviews don't do this place justice. But I will say that the prices are a little high considering you can get these same dishes for half the price in your local Chinatown. We waited about 30-40 minutes in line and when we got in there, the restaurant was near empty. Plenty of open tables. When we got to our table, the floor was absolutely filthy. We asked for napkins to clean it as we couldn't put our feet down without stepping in something. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and my boyfriend got hot saki, both which were good. This is the new location- which is located right of the Grand Pequot Casino. The old location became Hell's Kitchen. Will say this location has great ambience. Dim lights, nice decor, and very elegant. The food was just average though and did not match the new ambience. Our server was good, and provided information about the dishes and recommendations. But we were more surprised by the prices. We received dining credit from a dining voucher won, and 100$ did not go very far here. Average entree was maybe 30-60$. We go t the garlic chicken- it was crispy and good- but not the best we have had. Then the house fried rice had all the condiments and proteins but no flavor whatsoever. We were attending a concert this Sunday evening at Foxwoods and wanted a quick bite to eat before the show. We had eaten at the Golden Dragon in its old location and decided to give the new space a try. It definitely has undergone an upgrade in regards to the atmosphere. It's more upscale looking then the old space. The menu has been paired down as well. We were quickly shown our seats,no reservations were not a problem. Service was quick and efficient. We chose spring rolls,pot stickers, hot and spicy chicken and Singapore noodles. All our meal arrived at one time, freshly prepared,hot and only after a short wait. We appreciated it,however, if we weren't heading to a show we would have preferred the apps first and a more leisurely pace. The meal was good. Spring rolls were crispy and hot. The pot stickers were tasty but a bit thick. My hot and spicy chicken was flavorful but not as spicy as it could have been. I forgot to ask for some spicy chili crisp to stir in. Chinese at Foxwoods, never even considered it in the past which is why I always walk right by this place without thinking twice. This time, I thought twice and said why not give it a try? Okay, when there's a clear language barrier you can go easy on the service. Something a staff member or server does culturally could piss you off as it can come off as rude. Only reason I bring this up is because this is one of those restaurants, or at least I thought and wished. Everyone had their bitch face and ignorant attitude on today! It was a like they don't even want your money, nobody wanted to be there! The chefs behind the kitchen seemed into to it at least. Their food was good but some things lacked certain qualities. For example, my mother's beef noodle soup. The broth was good, the vegetables and beef were great actually. But the noodles were undercooked, ruined the entire meal. Another example, the chicken wings. To be honest, they tasted amazing. Crispy, crunchy, tasty and went great with my fried rice. But the quality of the chicken wing itself was just so cheap, they were like chicken wings coming from a young and malnourished chick, there was barely any meat. Very sad actually! True story! As for the sesame beef, it tasted no different from any other chinese restaurant except it was a little sweeter than usual which could be either good or bad. For us, it was bad. One of the things I miss from my hometown (Hong Kong) is the local noodle shops. While this restaurant is not a small local shop, their beef soup noodles is everything I could ask for. The underlying taste in the soup base and after taste gives me the fulfilment I got after a bowl back home. On top of that, the beef brisket is rich in flavour and tender in texture suggesting that they spend a while marinating and slow cooking it. Basically, they hit the flavour spot on. The staff are friendly and very efficient. I definitely recommend it and to try the more 'local' Chinese dishes. read more

We waited 30 minutes, which wasn't inherently bad, but it set our hopes way too high for the poor experience we ended up getting. First the water was disgusting, like it was sitting at the bottom of a sink for hours. Then the food: the walnut shrimp was tasteless. The tonkotsu ramen was some of the worst ramen I've had with a flavorless broth and dry pork. Servers were rude and actively ignoring us--we had to ask 3 different people just to get one salt shaker. And of course, the food gets the casino tax--in other words, it is 2-3x as expensive as your local takeout or ramen joint. It's just not worth it. There are plenty of other fine restaurants around. I distinctly remember the first time I ate at Golden Dragon in middle school and compared to now, the quality of food has definitely decreased. The service itself is always great and friendly. It is a good option to accommodate a party of 5 or 6. However, here's the run down: Appetizers: Small portions and overpriced. Ex: 3 potstickers for $10. 3. Soups: They're okay. Hot and sour soup is Chinese-style, not too spicy, could be a bit sourer. Wonton soup broth basically tasted like water. Entrees: Mapo tofu is decent, could be a little spicier. Beef chow fun is a good portion. You can also never go wrong with the bok choy or Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce as well. Like I previously stated, a majority of entrees are supposed to be sharable so the quality of the dishes is not necessarily remarkable. The steamed flounder was $45, but was a big hit with my family and they recommend it. Lastly, the restaurant can get busy but it's never a long wait. Although they are likely to be staples dishes, I would definitely love to see improvements to the menu because it has been the same since I was 12. read more

The noodles and everything was just phenomenal, it was deadass the best Chinese food I've ever had. My boyfriend loved his Lo Mein as well, and the veggie fried rice was great too, sure it did need a little salt, but I already put enough salt on every livid thing I eat. The meat in both dishes tasted great and were cooked great, and I'm usually very picky with meat. Huge portions as well. The only reason I remembered to leave this review was because of how much I'm craving the food (considering I live over an hour away). Our waitress was really nice and it was cool to see everyone cooking in the kitchen out in the open and how hard-working everyone was. No wait on a Saturday around 530pm but around 7pm we did notice a line outside. I wanted the ginger and scallion lobster but for $108 for one lobster was insane. Had dinner at the Golden Dragon before a concert. The food and service were both excellent. My partner had the chicken soy fun noodle soup and I had vegetable lomein. Both were fresh & delicious. Portions were large and we ended up not having to cook the next day. Restaurant was comfortable, clean & nice decor. The server was excellent; friendly and attentive. I have fond memories of coming to Golden Dragon as a kid whenever my parents would want to go to Foxwoods. Back then, I remember how much more authentic their fare was: thinly sliced cold pork, jellyfish, and even vinegar chicken feet. Now, after 19 years, I finally went back expecting the same, but sadly the nostalgia train had long departed. Gone are the authentic items. Rather, they have been replaced by expensive, Americanized Chinese dishes like General Tso's and Pork Fried Rice. They have a dim sum menu as well, but you are talking $10 for a plate of 4 har gow (crystal shrimp dumplings), a dish that normally goes for $3 to $4 at any respectable dim sum establishment. We ordered the few remaining authentic dishes they had: salt and pepper shrimp, Cantonese fried egg noodles with seafood and gravy, and the sticky BBQ spare ribs (not as authentic). I will give credit to the salt and pepper shrimp. Here, they used authentic spices in a classic fried preparation and did not skimp out on shrimp size or quantity. Surprisingly just as good was also their sticky ribs. They had a slight "char siu" taste and were quite sticky - cooked to perfection in terms of tenderness. The Cantonese noodles (my childhood favorite) was pretty hit or miss. While the noodles were done correctly, deep fried and then left to soak in the white gravy to tenderize, they were sparse with the seafood and veggies. They also added baby carrots in the mix which threw off the authenticity completely and did nothing to help the dish. If they were going to add baby carrots, at least shred them to match the texture of the other items! The flavor was what I remembered but it just wasn't enough to redeem the dish as a whole. I normally don't dock points for service either, but not once were we given waters or asked if we needed it - only at the end when I asked for some were they provided (needed to wash down a rather salty meal). I probably won't be back unless its taking my parents back down to nostalgia town, there are just too many other good and authentic options in CT now to justify coming back to Golden Dragon but if you are looking for slightly elevated American Chinese dishes, stop by and give them a try at least once. read more

Weird. The only thing eatable was the general Taos chicken and even that you could tell was not made fresh and definitely at one point frozen. I usually do not eat chinese food but was definitely craving it and decided to eat a the Golden Dragon while visit Foxwoods. The wait was not long as they are following CDC guidelines for restaurants. Once seated our waitress was prompt and checked in from time to time to ensure our satisfaction. We also received water, appetizer plates, and a pot of complimentary green tea (it was extremely hot so be careful). The food was delicious I ordered the spring rolls and my boyfriend had the crab rangoon. For our entrees we had the chicken lo mein (the noddles are not traditional lo mein noodles but think of the noodles used to make chow mein) honey beef short ribs, and general tso chicken. Definitely worth checking out, the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. read more
