The food and service were both excellent. Our server was attentive and friendly and helpful with questions on meals. My filet was cooked perfectly, and the mushrooms side was one of the best I've had. My wife's fish was flavorful she asked for no squash and it came out with it l, our server caught it and asked if we wanted it corrected. The atmosphere was pleasant without being overcrowded with a nice view where we sat. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is the price of food. Really good steakhouse located in the Foxwoods Resort! We came here for dinner when we stayed at this resort. I'd recommend making a reservation, otherwise you'll probably have to wait since it's a popular place. We came at around 7pm and had to wait 45 minutes, but we didn't really mind because there's so much to do around there. We walked around the outlets, and then they texted us when the table was ready. I got the Atlantic Salmon, which was so fresh and came with a delicious sauce. We also split the green beans and fries as our two sides. The green beans were some of the best I've had. Food was overall great, and our server was so friendly. I'd love to come back to try the oysters. read more

Christmas at Cedars definietly made my Christmas Eve one to remember! It felt like I was on the set of the movie, Elf! 12,000 ornaments, 5,000 lights and 4,000 feet of garland. Wow! They also have a Christmas Specialties menu. It goes to December 30. I will definietly visit again specifically during Christmas time just for this reason. We arrived at 7 PM and were greeted by two human-sized toy soldiers. So fun! We had an awesome server that took our holiday beverage order to start the night off. From there, we enjoyed bread and butter, a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with Frisee, Cornichon and Lemon Aioli and an assortment of oysters. We were definitely off to a great start and it all got even better as the night went on. I was tempted to order from the Holiday Menu, but ultimately went with the regular menu--just as awesome though! I went with the 15oz. Prime Rib- medium rare- yum! My sides were the creamed spinach and mac & cheese. What a fantastic holiday meal! It also came with Au Jus and my favorite-- the Horseradish Cream Sauce. I'm hungry right now just thinking about the table spread we had! I had to finish the whole thing! No choice! It was that good! My friend ordered the 9oz. Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly. He also ordered a side of garlic sauteed shrimp, brussel sprouts and a loaded baked potato. I got to try some bites as well and let me say again- what a perfect meal to enjoy on Christmas Eve. I wish we had room for dessert! I would have loved to try the Yule Log- Vanilla Biscuit, Raspberry Coulis, White Chocolate Mousse and Buttercream. That sounds so good right now! Next year!! While the presentation of the food was extravagant, the taste did not meet its match. I ordered the clam chowder and it arrived underseasoned. The lobster which was priced at $55 was filling, however it was overcooked giving it a rubbery texture. The roasted halibut had no flavor at all and the steak short ribs although tender had a very strange odor. The only good meal, that was pretty delicious, was the salmon with the corn and edamame. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye steak and potato. Steak was ordered medium it came rare. The steak was also tough. Baked potato was over cooked. Outside was hard and inside was not fluffy white but a brown over cooked look. I order a Cesar salad which was good and the bread was tasty. My husband had the lamb chops medium rare. They came cooked medium and were very tender. He enjoyed them. He also had the Brussel sprouts. He said they were good but some of the larger ones were under cooked. So if you want salad, bread and lamb chops head on down there. If you are after a good steak go elsewhere. read more

I ordered the special, $95; filet mignon, crab stuffed shrimp, green beans and mashed potatoes. Our meals even came out in a reasonable time. Unfortunately, my green beans had a hair tangled in them. After calling our server over, she immediately apologized and took the plate away. However, moments later she returned and asked me how I wanted to rectify the situation. Did I want a whole new plate, or perhaps just new green beans, etc... Honestly, I was taken back by this. I was unsure how to answer this question. I began to feel guilty asking for a whole new plate. So, I said they could save the steak and bring me new sides. Afterwords, I began to get a bit irritated. I'm not their quality control manager and I should have never been asked how to resolve their error. The server came back and said the manager would comp a round of drinks, but never came to our table. This made me feel as if this happens often and they just immediately offer a free drink. I absolutely love Cedars. I've come here a few times over the last couple years for our company holiday party and the service and the food is always tops. This year is no exception. I was recently there for an event and they have pulled out all the stops for the holiday season! It was decorated beautifully, there is a special holiday themed menu and tasty holiday themed drinks! Each area of the restaurant is decorated differently the front half is decorated in traditional Christmas colorful decorations and the second area is decorated as a beautiful winter wonderland! The food here is a five. We split the shrimp cocktail for a snack/lunch. It was so good. Huge shrimp on ice great horseradish sauce. Just perfect. Sat at the bar had excellent service. Went back for dinner and had alaskan crab legs that were really expensive but so worth it. Meaty, cooked perfect served with drawn butter. We ordered fries (shoestring) and green beans and creamed spinach. These were all outstanding. Really good service then as well. As far as the ambiance goes, its not even the end of October and this place was packed with Christmas decorations!!! Really over the top - just loved it!!!! Top notch food. We have made going to Cedars my wife and my pre holiday tradition. If you haven't seen this restaurant decorated for the holiday season, you are missing out. We love to go a week or 2 before Christmas, it really gets you in the mood. There are ornaments and lights and decorations everywhere yet it remains tasteful and festive not tacky . Last night we enjoyed our annual visit. This year we are hosting some of our kids from out of state plus a variety of other commitments so this was our last time alone for a bit. To celebrate, we went all out. We ordered a couple cocktails and went through the regular and holiday menus. Bread and butter arrived and we made our choices. We decided to really go all out with a shrimp cocktail and the surf and turf for 2. The latter consists of a 36 ounce tomahawk ribeye, 2 lb lobster and 3 sides to share. The shrimp arrived perfectly chilled on a bed of ice with a nicely spiked cocktail sauce. The shrimp were large and fresh. We settled in to enjoy . One thing to remember, alot of customers tend to be going to one of the shows on the weekends so inform your server if you are or if not, they will expedite dinner if you are catching a show. We weren't so we let our server know we wanted to take our time and enjoy. Our feast arrived with the steak and lobster on a carving board along with our sides, asparagus, oinions and mushrooms and a baked potato in separate bowls. The steak was cooked close to our preference, mid rare. It was juicy and flavorful. The lobster was precracked and cooked well and not dripping wet. All the sides were delicious, well seasoned and served hot. We definitely enjoyed our meal. The only criticism I have is with the cocktail selections and preparation. We ordered 2 gingerbread martinis to end our meal and the were extremely astringent, not just strong but medicinal. Also, the selections for specialty cocktails leaves a bit to be desired. However, there is a pretty extensive wine selection. We will continue this great holiday tradition into the foreseeable future. read more

Excellent service and food! I visited on a Saturday night and was able to be seated quickly without a wait. Our server was very attentive and offered recommendations. I ordered a lemon drop martini and calamari to start. Both items were well made. For the main course, I ordered lamb chops and potatoes au gratin. The potatoes au gratin were some of the best I've ever had! The lamb was on the drier side and a little over cooked. On my last trip I noticed the addition of a surf and turf for two (tomahawk ribeye and a 2 pound lobster that also comes with 3 sides). It was awesome! They know how to cook your steak! Order medium rare and get medium rare! The filet was exquisite. Not chewy at all and easy to cut. They've got raw horseradish which is always a nice touch. Frank was our server and he was so pleasant. Asked for my ID when I ordered a Shirley Temple (they gave me 4 cherries btw!) Syed was a great busser, very kind and efficient. Our only issue was when we sat down we got handed a very sticky and gross menu. Syed was nice and got us a new one but when we handed it to a woman up front she rolled her eyes which I found rude, not rude to us but to him. How this place gets so many five stars is beyond me!First there is no bathroom in the resturaunt to wash ur hands or go to the bathroom . Most of the steak they offer are not prime, dry aged or wet aged for that matter and they charge a fortune for usda quality steak.The white bread they offer is horrible pink salt they put on butter is not enough. The lobster we ordered was underdone and the king crab legs were overdone. The lemon drop that reviewers were bragging about was horrid. Last fall, I went here for dinner and ordered the clam fritters and clam chowder appetizer. The clam chowder was salty and the clam fritters had too much dough and hardly had any clams in it. For my entree, I ordered the CEO burger which came with shaved prime rib, gorgonzola cheese, cheese fondue, candied bacon, and arugula. The burger was also salty and had too much cheese.
