Only good thing I can say about this place is the server and the busser's were awesome. The food is so not worth it. I paid $200 for a family of four for less than Olive Garden quality food. At that price you would expect for pasta and sauce to be house made but it tasted like frozen dinner quality. $200 was the price for 4 entrees, 2 beers, & 2 apps. I had my two children with me and had to pay adult prices for their food, they didn't have a children menu and would not accommodate. The chairs and tables looked run down and dirty. Popped in for a quite bite before a show and was surprised it was not already packed. We grabbed a couple of seats at the lounge and the service was great. There was at least 3 bartenders on and they pretty much work the whole bar. So they all get to serve all the costumers almost like a rotation. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and warm. It was a quick experience and the food was good portions was what I expected in a finer restaurant in a casino. But it was definitely quite a pleasant experience for the palate. Would definitely revisit for the full dining experience and it's perfect for the date night as well as a group visit. read more

Had a 1pm Easter reservation here today. We weren't that hungry at that time and the place was kind of empty so we went around 1:30 and they were very accommodating for our party of 5. (4 adults 1 child). We sat down and ordered some drinks and waited for menus. Turns out it was a buffet...which no one explained to us. That's alright though because sometimes doing ya own thing works! Our server was nice, not sure what his name was, not sure he actually said it, and he was very soft spoken. On to food- my first plate I tried (pictured) had a zucchini and pepper medley, spicy green beans with prosciutto, tomato basil pasta, and sausage with peppers and onions. This place was DELICIOUS. I got seconds of each thing! The dessert was not labeled but I went for it anyways. Turned out to be some sort of dark chocolate truffle cake thing. Still very yummy! I would come back here, they gave me no reason not to. However at $48 a person to eat, it's a bit steep for a buffet. I'll try all the restaurants out at Foxwoods first! read more

This was honestly not my first choice for dinner when my friend and I went to Foxwoods. The "gourmet" options made my wallet and I very nervous. However, at 8:45 pm on a Thursday your dining options are surprisingly limited. So we opted for Alta Strada, which was at the base of the Fox Tower and super convenient. We were seated right away, people were dressed causally and I didn't notice anyone eying my jeans. The menu is at the higher end of prices for most entrees, but they do have personal pizzas for $15 and a hamburger, of all things, for $18. For an appetizer we split the homemade ricotta, which was creamy and delicious. For the times I accidentally bit down on a red peppercorn, I thanked the restaurant gods the staff was so quick about refilling our water. We both ordered the Bianca pizza, which was not (as so many white pizzas suffer from) dry and was actually very cheesey. One was a little more cooked than the other, our pies came out at different times due to server confusion, and I found I preferred the one with a little more crisp. The drinks were standard, I had a peach martini that was filled so closely to the brim I bent over to sip before feeling safe enough to pick it up. Not elegant, I know, but better than gambling with a peach smelling stain on my shirt! My friend has a lemon drink made with their Limoncello infused vodka, which she enjoyed but again, standard. The nice part was they were willing to work with us and seemed open to customizing the drinks as needed. read more

Probably the worst waitstaff I've encountered at a restaurant. We went around 430-5 before the imaginary dinner crowd. Our waiter was Mia the entire time. We ended up sending the pizza back it was so bad. How anyone can mess up a pizza is beyond me. Can't imagine how the $70 steak would've come out . Avoid avoid avoid!! read more

Alta Strada is on the lower side of the higher end gourmet restaurants at Foxwoods. I wasn't impressed with their chitarra dish (shrimp fra diavolo, basil, and tomato). It took almost an hour to serve dinner to my party of 10 when the restaurant was fairly empty. read more

This is Personal Italian cooking with flair and pleasant surprises. I just love restaurants that focus on perfecting a few great dishes. They serve fabulous hard crusted bread with delicious olive oil that was flavored with fresh basil and a hint of mint. We ordered steamed clams in a light white wine with fresh garlic and herbs. The sauce was to die for. Our waiter was helpful and recommended a few homemade pasta dishes (which we were told could be ordered in 1/2 orders!) We also tried the "perfect chicken parmigiana" with a slightly spicy red sauce. Our entrees and appetizers were EXCELLENT. The Maltagliatti with Braised Pork Ragu and Herbed Ricotta pasta dish should not be missed! Sadly we had no room for dessert but I would recommend this restaurant and will look forward to another visit the next time we are at the Foxwoods Resort. Great service too!! I've been to Alta Strada a few times when at Foxwoods, and the place really straddles the line between a 3* and a 4* review. The food isn't amazing, and the service has sometimes been slow, but I do enjoy a few of their dishes and have had some really good service, too. Not my first or second choice at Foxwoods, but definitely something to try if you want a nice dinner and would like a change of pace from a steakhouse. read more

Alta Strada is our favorite Foxwoods restaurant. Authentic Italian! Homemade pastas which are hard to find. Excellent entrees. Great crispy meatballs! Incredible bolognese! Fabulous beet salad, but it wasn't on the menu on our last visit. Beautiful place except for the view of slot machines. This restaurant belongs in the Grand Pequot Hotel area, it deserves a much nicer location. We don't usually go over to Fox Tower. Golden Dragon is so run down taking up a valuable spot. read more

I got the mushroom pizza which was way overpowering and needed a few more flavors. They serve a delicious basil based olive oil but the bread crust was hard as a rock. We were a group of 4 and were attending an 8 pm show at the Foxwoods theatre . We had a 630 Reservation and we were seated at 645 . We ordered 2 appetizers and drinks both came quickly and then the long wait began for dinner W e knew something was up when 2 groups near us were not being served . Our waiter went in to hiding . Then one group left and the other group near us were getting up as there entrees were being served . Everyone was trying to make the show. It was now 740 and we grabbed a waiter who sent over the manager who promised the food in 5 minutes . We had paid a lot for the tickets and were not going to be late . We booked this restaurant as it is the closest to the theaters. So we left at 748 as they were serving our dinner and paid our bill for drinks and appetizers . 7 of us showed up for dinner at 9pm Saturday night. They sat us in a private room immediately. Ordered Calimari, crispy veal meatballs and eggplant parm for appetizers. All were excellent. My wife ordered a sausage and onion pizza. Very good. I ordered chicken park with roasted potatoes. Excellent. Some of the other dishes around the table were excellent also. Focaccia bread with the basil, mint olive oil was delicious. Went back for the brunch buffet the next day. They made french toast out of the leftover foccacia bread from the night before. Texture for it was not good. I would pass on the vanilla syrup that they put out too. Not so good. The breakfast sausage and bacon were excellent. Homefries were the same roasted potatoes from the previous evening. They had a ham carver. The ham had so much rosemary that you could not taste anything else. I was there only for the breakfast items. My wife was eating eggplant park and meatballs again. I would pass on the brunch buffet again. read more

Try the tagliatelli bolognese! You won't be disappointed. Beautifully al-dente and the Bolognese is lovely. The bread is so good and it is hard to stop eating it with the olive oil accompaniment. The caeser salad is plenty for two to share and above average. Wines by the glass offer a good selection. A little secret is that if you want fettucini alfredo, just ask because it is not on the menu but they will make it for you. It is fabulous! It is not your ordinary alfredo. It is made a little differently and much lighter in texture. Yummy. Brunch is average and you can do better in my opinion as it is on the pricey side for the offerings. We go often when we are staying at the Grand because it is worth the money as it is not all that expensive (not cheap either, more moderate). The other more pricy Craftsteak is good for special occasions and sometimes you just want something a little more upscale than Junior's which is the third and only other restaurant at MGM Grand. Try Alta Strada. You will enjoy it. Service is average but friendly and make a reservation as it can get busy. read more

He had the margarita pizza and I had the shrimp scampi for the appetizer and asked if they could make me the salmon with roasted potatoes and it was the best salmon I've had in my life! Enjoyed my dinner at this restaurant. I had the pasta with the spicy pork ragu and for an appetizer I had the shrimp scampi. The scampi was unique. The shrimp was served on top of a piece of sourdough bread and the sauce was over that. I'm used to scampi having a bit more garlic but this version was still good. The spicy pork ragu with pasta was perfect. Handmade fresh pasta, cooked just right and a very flavorful ragu that was delicious. The pork was perfectly tender. Overall great meal. read more

Very good food, atmosphere, and service here. I had the Zuppa Di pesce. All th fish, mussels, clams, shrimps, scallops and calamar were cooked properly, which is a feat! Great work! Only problem is that some of the mussels weren't cleaned properly, which is a bummer. My wife had two different half portions of pasta (great that they do this here)! Fresh pasta no matter what you order here is fantastic. Last but not least is the wait staff, Shauntee was great! Ask for her. She explained every dish we asked in detail and was tireless in seeing if we were okay. Supporting wait staff were also great filling water glasses and bringing food in a timely matter. I will come back here again, and even hope to order the mussels, sure that they will fix the problem. read more

Giving this restaurant 2 stars is reaching, but we enjoyed the calamari, bruschetta and dinners we COULD eat. We made a reservation for 6:30 and arrived promptly. We made it clear we came for a show that started at 7:30. Our waitress, one of the redeeming qualities of this place, recommended we order pasta, salads or pizza that she said would be quick "20-30 minutes." One hour later we only got our appetizers and my fiance and I had to choose between dinner or watching the show we purchased tickets for. I'm sorry but we live in Boston and understand what it is like to dine at a crowded restaurant. An hour for three dishes of pasta and a salad is unacceptable. We chose the show and were glad we did because it was amazing. I won't be recommending any friends or family dine at this establishment. My father is a vip member at Foxwoods and all they could offer was to scrap the dinner. Trust when I say we will be spreading the word to our high rolling friends to STAY AWAY. Excellent ambiance! I do love dimly lit restaurants, but this one could stand to be a little brighter, as I was kind of struggling to see my food. (Foxwoods in general is really dark everywhere which was kind of annoying.) I joined my table late (we were there for a dance competition so everyone was done at different times, it was confusing) and the waiter didn't miss a beat. He was right on top of things and made sure that I, and another person in our party who had just joined were waited on. Mostly everyone was just ordering drinks but I was hungry. I got the Chittara, which was a spicy pasta dish with shrimp, tomato, and basil. The pasta is all homemade and the shrimp was shelled which made for an even more pleasant eating experience. It was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The menu is very simple, but from what I gathered from the other people at the table, very very good and flavourful! The waiter was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and really knew what he was doing. My ONLY critique about this place is that it is very pricey. My dish was 29$ and almost everything else was between 22 all the way up to 45$! (For the 16 oz ribeye). Even for the excellent quality and value, it pains me to spend that amount of money on a single meal. However if you're looking for a good meal at the Fox Tower and price is not a concern, this is the best place to go, without a doubt. read more

Service, atmosphere and food were all 4 stars. Tosh our waiter and his team of bussers and runners were superior. Drink menu is a little too creative for me so I stuck with the wine. Even if you are afraid to try veal, you just have to dabble on these crispy veal meatballs. So good and one plat is all you need for a group of 6. I had the cavatelli with spring vegetables and pancetta. Packs a punch with the cheese and the pancetta salts the dish very well. The pasta was al dente and the vegetables were fresh. I have been to this restaurant four times. Each time was fine, but nothing spectacular. Tonight, however, they were horrendous. It was my friend's birthday, and she made a reservation about a month ago. They called her 2 days ago to confirm, and she called back in about an hour. However, they messed up and cancelled her reservation. So when we showed up tonight, they said we had to wait. At least half an hour. I was staring at 3 empty tables, so I made a fuss and, they eventually sat us. No apologies, no concern, no offer of anything comped. We enjoyed our dinner, though service was slow. We divided the bill, I gave specific instructions to take the cash off the top and use the written amounts for the cards. The Waiter did, but then charged my card (which should have had the balance), an extra $240! (About half of the bill). When I went to speak with the waiter, he was unapologetic, got me the manager, whom I had to wait for, she wouldn't rectify it until the other people signed their cards, and then re-ran mine, even though I have a pending charge on my credit card for the earlier amount. Again, she was blasé about the whole thing, unapologetic, and just generally didn't care. I will never return there. Far better places to go at Foxwoods. Don't waste your money. read more
