If I could put a zero, I would. We went to eat there this morning. My husband is a 100% disabled vet. He has a trained service dog for his disability. The dog is protected under a Federal law and cannot be denied entry to any establishment. BUT...THIS RESTAURANT DENIED US SERVICE SOLELY BECAUSE WE HAD A DOG!!! She said she didn't care if he was a service dog. He wasn't allowed in. She said she was the owner and could refuse service to anyone. Well, no she can't! She said her customers do not want to eat with a dog. We nicely explained it was against the law to refuse us and she said she did not care. She stated it wasn't illegal. We also will post this with the Department of Justice so other veterans and their service dogs will not eat at this establishment. Not good to turn a disabled veteran away. read more

This restaurant is so good! I had the mega meat omelette. I have braces and often have to cut my food up into tiny pieces. This omelette had its filling diced which was so helpful and delicious! I could not finish this omelette, I Always finish so it is big. My hubby had the Cedar Tree omelette and loved it. He said the home potatoes were fried, so crisp and delicious. I am gluten free and ordered the gf blueberry muffin to go-don't bother, the worse muffin ever but I believe that they were trying to help people like me but I suggest a hard pass. We are in our 80's with a small, well behaved service dog. The owner, Susan, told us to "get out" because he wasn't wearing a Service Dog vest. My husband is a veteran, too, and we were shocked. Sad to say this restaurant should not be serving people and being so rude. read more

Sunday for lunch, I waited 25 minutes for the waitress to take my order. After ordering a burger and fries it was another 30 minutes before my food came out--all colder than a January morning in Frasier, Colorado (nicknamed "The Nation's Icebox"). After gagging down about half of the cold burger, I pushed it away and put my debit card on the table. Another 20 minutes before the waitress brought my check. She didn't leave a pen to sign, so I had to go chase one down. Man, I HATE leaving mediocre tips ($3), but sometimes you just gotta send a message. I've been cutting restaurants lots of slack as they bounce back from Covid-19 restrictions, but this is one of those "Fuck Newsom" places that pretty much defied the restrictions over the past year. Owner was extremely rude and seemed to not know how to ring up simple requests like a side of eggs. We rarely go to this place and we got reminded why again. She acted like we were asking her to launch a satellite into orbit when we asked for decaf coffee. It's just not that difficult, but maybe for her it is. I'd rather drive to the other side of Shasta County to get breakfast than to drive 2 minutes down the street to this place. I ordered a single order of chicken strips and fries from their menu which was priced at $7.99. I had asked to add two more strips on chicken, they said no problem. When I arrived to pickup my food, the price was $20.89. I didn't think much of it while in the drive through. However when I got home it dawned on me that something didn't add up. When I called to question the price the owner said " what are you looking at a menu from 20yrs ago" in a snotty tone. No I replied" the only menu I see". The owner told me the price is now $12.99 and she added $5.99 for the 2 extra little chicken strips I had asked for and boy were they little. Unfortunately you walk in the door and wait to be seated yet no one even acknowledges you are there. 2 groups in front of me left as well because no one came over to even let them know they knew they were there. 2 waitresses moving about yet wouldnt even look over. Very strange and not good for business. I have no problem waiting but at least let me know and welcome me and tell me you will be back with me. We waited approximately 10 to 15 min. We just took our neighbors to lunch at Cedar Tree. My husband and I split the Avacado Bacon Burger with sweet potato fries and our neighbors split the Western Bacon Burger with onion rings. We then all shared some carrot cake. It was all so wonderful! I wish we took pictures because the food was well presented. Next time we go I'll take some pics. Our server was so sweet and delightful. Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been going to Cedar Tree for at least 20+ years and am disappointed to see it go so downhill. I have been back a few times hoping my experience would be a bit better, but it just keeps getting worse and worse. The owner looks/ speaks to us with major attitude and the couple times I've attempted to call in an order, she goes out of her way to let me know how irritated she is that someone would call at whatever time it may because "it's very busy and that calling in an order is not even an option." *hangs up phone* The only other time I've called, she didn't even say that it wasn't an option and just hung up! I lived in Palo Cedro for 5 years, and went to Cedar Tree here and there. Never anything outstanding, but decent and close to home..... The last time I had a hankering for some breakfast, I thought I'd order it to go, since the dining room is small and fills up quickly. Called em up....Waitress that answered sounded hurried, and when I asked to place a to go order, she sounded frustrated and said "Well, you're gonna have to wait, like, 10 minutes before I can even take your order!" About 5 minutes later she came back and said in a really snooty tone that she couldn't even take our order because she was the only waitress on duty and she had customers that take priority! My husband and I drove out to the Cedar Tree to try it. It had a well rounded menu. We decided to split an omelet breakfast. I Ordered an ice tea but asked for it in a togo cup. The waitress brought it out to me. No excitement just an ice tea in a Styrofoam cup. We ate our breakfast, which was wonderful. We talked about trying lunch some day. Then we were brought the check, 2 checks. The first check was for breakfast and my husbands coffee. The second check was for my ice tea in a togo cup. My $4.02 ice tea. You see they charge $2.89 for regular brewed ice tea and then a $1.00 for the cup. I couldn't believe it. The waitress never said "I wanted to let you know the is a togo charge." I felt like I was steam rolled by Styrofoam. Also on the check was a split plate fee of $1.00. Now I have seen this in other restaurants but it is usually spelled out on the menu. This was not. When we left I looked at the menu and it was listed on one page of their 5 page menu. The food was good. The service was friendly and apologetic about the charges. Our own opinion is that we won't go back. It was like being nickel and dimed to death. There are too many restaurants in the area to deal with that stuff. Good Food Read the fine print!! I went in with a group of friends and apparently if you are from out of town you are not welcomed. We walked in and the sign said wait to be seated and we stood there and watched people look at us but not greet us, after being seated it took at least 5 minutes for us to be greeted and our order takin. It was awkward considering that the server and host kept making eye contact with us, and then would walk away ignoring us. After we got our food the server did not come back to check on us. They offer "jalapeño bacon", which you can sub for your regular bacon and it was outstanding. A perfect amount of kick to add to your meal. A little overkill on the dressing for the side salad so if we ever visit again, I'll just ask for it on the side. Waitress was pleasant and made small talk without hovering or sounding forced. This restaurant has never changed. It is a one person ownership with the standard menu. I eat here because one of my older friends enjoys eating here. I have this saying, if the restaurant is not broke and it is making an income, why change? Eventually it will need a full renovation soon, especially the kitchen.
