Chilaquiles
Holly H.

I love cedar street cafe!! They have amazing breakfast tacos. Make sure you get the spicy green salsa to go with them. They also make a pretty good iced mocha. I wasn't really a fan of their chilaquiles though. The restaurant is pretty small, but it is super cute and they have a small outside seating area. This place is definitely a hidden gem in the Bellaire area.

breakfast burrito w/ bacon and added avocado and pico! it was SOOOOOO GOOD! you can taste the grilled tortilla and the bacon was so crispy! the verde sauce took this burrito from a 10/10 to 20/10. GET IT AHORA

Barbacoa

So thankful to have something like this in Bellaire. The breakfast tacos are generously stuffed and the coffee is legit. Tortillas and salsa are made fresh. Barbacoa available on the weekend.

Did not know this place existed!! I had been looking for a spot like this for soooo long! Yum thanks.

Bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco

I stumbled across this place after an appointment in the area and boy am I glad I did!! This is for sure going to be added to my breakfast taco rotation. It looks like they just moved locations around the corner from their old spot, so make sure you head to 5211 Cedar St. Super cute little building and plenty of parking surrounding the place! Staff was very friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. I ordered two bacon, egg, and cheese tacos and they were stuffeddd I was so happy. Add on the green sauce that comes on the side... amazing.

Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

I stopped by with my buddy on a Thursday evening close to 9 p.m. Free parking was a cinch in the parking lot they share with several other businesses. Service (4.5/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. The lady who brought me my food checked on me twice and was super nice. She called me "sweetheart," a little Southern hospitality goes a long way. Ambiance (4/5): Modern, clean, and comfortable. In line with other Dish Society locations I've been to. We sat at a booth/table combo. Drinks (4.5/5): I love when a restaurant has more than your standard selection of soft drinks. You'll find that at Dish Society. They have "craft" sodas and a nice selection of juice blends. Plus sweet and unsweet tea. Food (4/5): I went with a cup of the tomato bisque soup and the Nutella French toast. The soup tasted as good as it looked. Some croutons or a piece of garlic bread would have been nice, but outside of that, this starter couldn't have been better. The Nutella French Toast was similarly well done. I love French Toast and I love Nutella. So this was a match made in heaven. Along with some sliced strawberries and some blackberries, I was happy I went with a breakfast dish for dinner (they serve brunch all day). The prices are affordable for the quality of the food. My only complaint? The portion sizes are pretty small. Case in point: two slices of French toast when most places will give you four. Pro tip: Join their club for discounts.

You order at the counter and the server will bring the food out to you. We got chicken and waffle & chicken and pancake, French toast with side of scrambled eggs, and an iced lavender latte and English breakfast hot tea. The food & drinks quickly came out, which is always greatly appreciated when dining with kids. The chicken was a generous portion and juicy. The butter had a unique flavor and paired well with the chicken. The pancake and waffle were also big portions. The latte was sweet and well balanced. The manager came around checking on us and was very attentive when I needed to request an extra cup of hot water for our tea. The floral wall decor and light fixture gives such a cozy vibe. Service was top notch and friendly! We definitely will consider coming back soon again.

Portions are large/filling and we felt the food was delicious and a good value for money. When we arrived the line was long and menus were not available so we had to search for the menu on the website to avoid deciding at the counter and holding up the people behind us. After ordering, tables were cleaned consistently and service was friendly. Only feedback about seating was outside parties would take chairs from other tables and leave them with no seating and not all tables we're shaded. The drinks being available at the bar when it is busy and then food being delivered to the table was a bit clunky. I picked up water and utensils for our party before sitting and would have preferred to have to pick everything up at the counter or have everything brought to the table to avoid multiple trips around when the restaurant is busy.

They offer affordably priced…read morefood (#1), simple and tasty casual fare, and keep it relatively flexible for all folks (dates, families, group dining, etc.) by providing excellent service, and a consistent experience every time. Similarly to their more popular location in Memorial (#2), this outside of this Bellaire spot doesn't immediately tell the full story. The interior has an industrial vibe, with the high ceilings and overhead fixtures, but as converted into a solid dining space. The large tilted mirrors in the main area are reminiscent of the now defunct Helen's (#3) and makes for a fun (or perhaps distracting) visual. The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their bacon double cheeseburger has been deemed "insta-famous" and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's juicy, a little messy, but a lot delicious. It paired well with their large cut fries (consider upgrading to the truffle fries), but the house made chips are also a good light bite. Their salads are equally fabulous from their classic caesar to a hearty cobb salad. I wasn't as impressed with the crunchy Asian salad, but thought their faro salad was a thumbs up. Understandably, the priciest meals are some of their grilled and house specialty meals, such as a prime tenderloin filet ($42), Mediterranean roasted redfish ($36), twelve hour ribs ($29), and rosemary-lemon chicken ($29), all of which are solid. I feel the buttermilk chicken tender platter ($19) is really meant for children, but is great for any tender lover in the bunch. Their weekly "features" are a series of daily specials that range from prime rib nights on Wednesdays and ribeyes on Thursdays, and "kids eat free" specials + their happy hour give folks plenty of reason to check it out. ___________ ( #1) Especially during their seasonal deals which can sometimes include steep discounts. I am so fortunate to live near Don Pepe. I just returned from Mexico City and having withdrawal from the lack of Mexican food in my kitchen. Don Pepe to the rescue!!! In their new location just around the corner, the menu is much more expansive and I'm on a journey to work my way through that menu. This is not TexMex if that's what you're looking for. This is authentic Mexican food like I enjoyed in Mexico City. The owner who is always present and most often working the counter for orders, is so nice and accommodating. I am a vegetarian and he, without fail, accommodates my request for no meat in any dish. I am addicted to Don Pepe breakfast tacos. Little did I know, there is so much more. I arrived home from Mexico City Tuesday evening. Wednesday I needed my Mexican food fix, so I went straight to Don Pepe for lunch. I had the avocado enchiladas. Outstanding! After eating healthily between Wednesday and today, I needed yet another Don Pepe meal. This time I had the papas con rajas with fresh corn tortillas. AMAZING! I'm not sure I can ever order anything else here. I was a little worried the charm of the previous location would be lost when they relocated. Nope! Charming as ever and stylishly decorated with much of the artwork from the previous location. Wish me luck staying away from Don Pepe! There is zero pretense here, a regular local crowd, excellent service, and affordable yet tasty food. I find the best times are between breakfast and lunch before the crowds really roll in. The format is casual: order at the counter, grab utensils and water and eventually food will be brought to the table. Tamales are some of my favorite foods and Don Pepe has a nice variety of the classics. The verdes with chicken or pork are excellent and go for about $3 each. The vegetarian friendly jalapeño and cheese as well as black bean and cheese are also very good. The more expensive ($6) tamales oaxaqueños are also tasty but not always available. Their other breakfast foods are worth the price of admission alone. They are another outlet for breakfast taco, along with sopes, and huevos platters on preference. Huevos rancheros and divorciados are a nice way to start the morning and on weekends they also have menudo. I find the enchiladas to be a nice surprise and the huaraches and sopes are definitely a thumbs up. The service is always friendly and very efficient. They have a number of family members working the front / back, so it definitely has the vibe of a homey operation. I am certain they take credit cards, but I usually pay in cash. They close in the afternoons around 2pm/3pm so getting in early is always recommended.

I was lucky to find a spot right by the door, but as soon as I got out of my car, the rain started to fall. I made my way quickly to the hostess stand (who were in the process of moving indoors) and they said the bar was open/seat yourself. Found a perfect spot right inside, and was given a menu by the nice bar staff. I had a few things in mind, but I decided on the lunch risotto. This arrived quickly, and I dug right in, especially enjoying the roasted carrots with the lemon parmesan risotto. There were other vegetables-some I couldn't even identify-but the ones I did try all blended together nicely. Being a lunch dish, the size was smaller which was perfect for me. Bar area became much busier since some parties from outside came in due to the downpour, so the establishment went from somewhat quiet to much louder, but everything still seemed to be running smoothly. Service was nice, and I'm glad I was able to visit this location after years of following them! I look forward to trying other restaurants under their name-
