For those that are having an issue with their hours, remember that a lot of people were given the opportunity during "The Pandemic" to stay home. Others needed had to find other employment, and it has been hard for a lot of small business to even stay open. The more small business gains employees the sooner they can go back to "normal" hours of Operation. For those that are complaining about the hours of operation just remember a lot of people can't work on Sunday, But, they expect others to work so that they can have a meal. So fill out an application, or be quite, and support the small business' to help keep them, STAY, "IN Business" . Cedar Lake Kitchen has never disappointed in my 20 years. I was very pleasantly surprised. We went with a pretty large group of ladies. The service was pretty good and my waffles... delicious. I ordered a pecan malted waffle with whipped cream. I mean. Really good. All our food that was ordered and served looked amazing. AND we didn't feel pushed out at all. At lease I didn't. The place is clean. And there's a lot for parking. So yay!! read more

We ventured to Cedar Lake following our morning at the Y in Crown Point looking for breakfast. So impressed with the wide variety of breakfasts--served all day! Pleasant surprise number two--the prices. Moderate and generous with the size of the meal. Hubby ordered a Build a Breakfast Sandwich and chose gyros on a muffin with hash browns. He also ordered coffee. I ordered the Greek skillet, gyros and feta cheese with hash browns, artfully designed and generously sized. I shared one of my two pancakes with hubby--the perfect sweet against the meaty gyros topped by two eggs. SOOO good! The service was actually quite fast once we decided on our choices and the restaurant is pleasantly spaced, clean, and comfortably decorated. Will be going back! read more

This was our first time visiting Cedar Lake Kitchen, and we wish we had known about it sooner because we go to uncle John's flea market nearby, three or four times each summer... The restaurant has a huge menu and everything looked good... I had the cheeseburger with mashed potatoes and gravy, and I loved it! Lightest, fluffiest, tastiest pancakes ever! It is so deceiving how they can be so light that I only put a little syrup on my top pancake and it made all the way to the bottom pancake, which I soon found out I could have skipped it all together. These were so delicious they didn't need syrup. I would have eaten them cold. ( if I had leftovers ) Too bad they aren't totally carb free or calorie free or waist line free. Maybe, just maybe since they are so light they will not impact my waist line?! I going to run with that idea. So I also had a side of crispy bacon which they didn't fail at either. It was perfect. I struggled with my decision about the omelette, but I went with the California (I think that is what it was called). It had bacon, guacamole, tomatoes, onion and cheese. My concern was that the I wouldn't like the guacamole because I am very particular (not that anyone would have guessed). Anyway, it could make or break the whole meal. When we walked into this place, to be honest, we didn't have a good impressive actually. Because although there has two pretty girls to lead us to seat, they are so serious without any smile. Ceder Lake Kitchen is a family style casual restaurant. They are not open anymore on Sunday's. (yep no Sunday Breakfast) CLK has great breakfast skillets the Meat Skillet is my Fav. But order the hashbrowns instead of the chunk potatoes in your skillet. They also have Pie showcased in the front of the restaurant as you walk in. On Saturday morning's you may have a wait as thry do get very busy. read more

Found with Yelp & glad I did. I consider eggs benedict an indicator dish for a breakfast place. If they do that well it's likely a good place for lots of things. Was probably the best I've ever had. This place is owned by a local family and has a diner type atmosphere. I came in for Sunday breakfast and there were quite a few locals there. I ordered the country skillet which consisted of hash browns, green peppers, onions, cheese, sausage and two eggs. The service was spot on and the food came out hot and freshly prepared. Stopped for Breakfast going down to Parke County Indiana. I swear I went to Cedar Lake with my folks as a kid, but my Mom said no. Oh Well, enough of that. Food was good and reasonable. Plenty of items on the menu. Everybody was friendly. I was a little surprised, but one side was smoking and the other side non-smoking. They were separate, but you could still smell the smoke on the non-smoking side. This must be a local thing, because there were no other places we ate in Indiana that allowed smoking. So, having been to Vegas recently, where they still allow smoking in some casinos, this wasn't such a shocker. But if it makes a difference to you, you may want to avoid this. We are big fans of this place. The summer time gets busy over the weekend with a max time line of about 20 minutes. There is limited seating but the wait is worth it. The last few times I had been there, the food service was a bit slow but every other time, the food service is quick. The crowd is a good mix of families, people from town, and vacationers. The price is very reasonable for what you get but they don't allow a ton of substitutions - for example - you can't sub your toast for a pancake but you can order a single pancake for $2.99. My son really enjoys the biscuits and gravy. I typically get the Mayflower skillet because the turkey sausage and feta cheese combo is sooooo good. The skillet has a bottom of hash browns that mixes well with all of the skillet toppings and egg over easy on top. The waitresses are all very nice. Be sure to bring cash for your tip - this is a restaurant that the waitress leaves the check and you bring it up to the counter to pay.... I always feel awkward not leaving a cash tip but maybe that's just me. read more

Went for lunch today with my wife and got the tuna salad on a croissant along with a bowl of soup. My wife wasn't as hungry as I, and she only ordered the tuna salad sandwich. Was very good and inexpensive, however when we looked at our check, we were charged $1.00 more for the sandwich alone than they charged us for both the soup and sandwich! When we questioned this we were told the soup and sandwich were on special, but the sandwich alone wasn't. They did however give us the option to take out a bowl of soup in exchange for $1.00 off our bill! A bit strange. Don't want to disparage this restaurant, as their food and service is always excellent, just sayin check your bill for unusual charges. read more
