Good stuff here! An unexpected gem that rivals some of the better California places. Big portions of all the classic taqueria fare. Burritos (wet, super, regular, all your heart could desire), tacos, plates, tortas, quesadillas, etc. Go wild. Portions are absolutely gigantic and the flavors are good. My carne asada wet burrito hit the spot, and then some. read more

The service was good. The pricing was good. The food was OK. I wasn't wowed but I'll give them another try someday.

Pleasantly surprised! We came in on a Friday night and were seated right away. The restaurant was clean and our server was friendly and attentive the entire time. The food came out hot and everything tasted great. The queso was a little on the runny side, but still had good flavor. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. Overall, a solid experience and we would definitely come back! read more

Food was ok . But when it came to the check, charges were padded more than what it should have been

You know El Jimador #3 is legit, because it has a number in its name. Partial joke aside, this place used to be a bank. They even kept the safe door in the restaurant! So is the food good? Yes. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The fish torta was filled with avocado, fish, lettuce, and tomato on something close to a telera bread. Had to have a horchata, which helped keep the heat down from the salsa and chips. Service was super friendly and accommodated our two families very nicely. Clean interior, plenty of parking, great tasting food, and service that makes you feel welcome. What a place! read more

I wanted to like this place. We like the location in Winfield. The service was inattentive, we saw our waitress when we ordered, when she dropped off the food, and finally to get the check. Drinks sat empty. The queso fundido was like soup and had almost no chorizo or anything else. No plates were brought for the appetizer. The steak in the tacos was barely seasoned. The music kept cutting out on the sound system. Just overall not a great experience. read more

My sister and I came here after a lot of recommendations from family friends. We split a pitcher of margaritas and got an order of cheese dip to start. We were so full after that, we ended up taking our burritos to go. The margaritas are delicious and STRONG. We had to call someone to come pick us up after finishing the pitcher lol. The staff is super friendly and the food is good. read more

The service is fast, employees are friendly and the Mexican food taste amazing. Also great prices.

After living in San Diego, living the good (Mexican food) life, and moving to Texas to be appalled by what they have done to Mexican food there, I had lost hope in some solid Mexican food. I visited friends in the area expecting to be mostly blown away by the various "White" midwestern stuff; while those were also quite fulfilling, I was very surprised by how good this location is. I had a plate that had a bunch of meats going on and it was all so good. Solid Jamaica too; that wasn't something I expected to find and it actually be good. read more

If you like cold tacos, rice and beans, then this is the place for you. My carne asada was good, but had cold rice and beans also.

Friendly staff and owners are so nice- Service was pretty slow at the beginning because of very little staff but they've hired some great people. The food is delicious, I try to get something different every time I go. I haven't had a bad meal & my hubby and I go at least 1x a week- try the watermelon margarita on the rocks too! The decor is a bit crazy but fun. read more

So excited this little gem opened up!! It's gets crowded because of the limited seating so plan on going earlier. Half the time we just order takeout.....it's my new favorite place for steak tacos !!! read more

This place is a joke. Don't bother ordering takeout- it won't be right and it will be charged wrong. We paid $100 for about enough food for three small children and it was a group of 8 people. Either they don't know their menu or they don't care. We called to speak to someone about the error and we were told that we made the mistake in our order, not them. Save yourself the headache and your valuable time and choose a different restaurant. Ridiculous. read more

Let me begin by stating, as a Latina I'm extremely picky about Mexican cuisine however, El Jimador has passed the test and is a new local favorite. My family goes through multiple bowls of chips/salsa. My children enjoy their chicken and steak tacos/toastadas and their Horchata. I like the steak tacos with green salsa as well as their chile relleños. Rice and beans are delicious! Margaritas are BIG and too good. Must try if you're in the area. read more

Very good food, service and ambiance at El Jimador in Cedar Lake. I had the burrito cuates and my wife had the chicken enchiladas with a strawberry margarita. We had the cheesecake with ice cream for dessert which was also pretty good. Our waiter Fabian was very friendly and did a great job. We will be back. read more

We absolutely love this place. Service is awesome. They all go out of their way to make you pleasant experience here.

I love eating here, but I got a to go order the Land and Sea and the meat was so tough I could not even cut it with a knife. I called the restaurant to let them know and they asked me to bring the food back. I was extremely disappointed by this response. Going back to the restaurant was not an option I had. I don't think I will retur read more

First time trying this new place on a Tuesday about 5:30. Got right in and seated ourselves. Kind of an odd setup with the dining area partitioned with a glass window/wall, bar area partitioned off with rope. Must be an old bank building with a huge bank vault door in the back of the place. Quite a bit of seating and had space for outdoor seating but was not set up or was not yet staffed to support that area. Very small number of staff with no dedicated bartender, waitresses serving and bussing tables. They busted their ass working hard though. Food came out slow and the room was quite warm. Food was very tasty, and portion size was good as we had chicken tacos, margarita, cheese appetizer with chorizo and fajitas-steak chicken shrimp (very tasty). Salsa tasted fresh and was very cold (good). Biggest dissatisfaction was the tortilla chips (stale) (both baskets). Hope this place makes it and improves as the staff seemed hard working and doing their best even though kitchen may have been a busy and overwhelmed as the place was full and later on in the evening folks were waiting for a table. Like the homemade chips and atmosphere/inside much better at LaDilla (across the parking lot) but would try this place again if atmosphere (and chips) improve. read more

Based on the reviews on Yelp, I expected to love this place. We were visiting a friend in St. John and wanted to take her out for a good dining experience. While the employees were all cordial and the ambiance acceptable, we were really disappointed with the overall service and quality of the food. The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated promptly and given a few minutes to order with chips and salsa brought to the table. We each ordered a regular meal (tamales, flautas, and a torta). After that point, we waited approximately one hour before our food was brought to us. Our server commented a couple times that "oh you're still waiting for your food?" I commented that the food is supposed to be really good so this wait may be worth it. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we finally got our food, across the board it was just ok, what you'd expect from any Mexican restaurant. We left and all agreed that next time we'd dine elsewhere. I wish I could have reported a better experience. read more

I know mexican food this is excellent. Fernando waiter always greets you with a smile and calls your name. Very impressive.
