After reading other yelp reviews, I was worried as we made our way to Cedar Creek last night, but I was pleasantly surprised. Food service was quick and accurate. I went up to the bar a few times to order drinks and while, yes, I did notice a certain level of sass from the bartenders, I also noticed a smile and a smirk from them- I didn't get any heavy sass or rudeness from them. My portabella burger was fantastic- and everyone else I talked to liked their food as well. My rum and cokes were served with a heavy pour. At one point in the night, my husband went up to order a round and the bartender offered him a bucket of mixed beers they were trying to sell off to lower their inventory. 6 beers for $6. They weren't cheap beers either. I love the setup of the place. Unlike its sister stores, Cedar Creek is enormous! Lots and lots of room inside and out and so much parking! My husband & I stop in for a drink and sit at the bar! The female bartender says "I can help you over here", my husband has to get up & go to another part of the bar for her to take our order. We figure we won't get service where we are sitting so we move to a table. 5 minutes later another couple sits where we original sat and guess what she waits on them...we are annoyed at this point and ask her why she wouldn't wait on us at the bar..... Her answer was I thought you were going to order food!!! What??? What does that have to do with anything & she assumed and didn't ask!! How annoying! Cedar Creek feels like a little slice of Austin in the middle of Houston. The murals pasted on the wall, the black adorned bartenders who look scary but are always nice, and the random acoustic set happening on a Thursday night all strike me as incredibly Austin-y. I don't dislike this bar, but I don't really like it either. I have friends who live nearby who like to suggest going here for a chill night of dinner and drinks. I enjoy having a frozen "Country A$$ Tea" but can only finish about half of it before it gets too sweet. I've had their salads, burger, portabella sandwich, chicken sandwich and everything is decent, but not great. The food is decidedly mediocre, but absolutely satisfying. Their salads are gigantic, but their dressings taste bottled. The burger was good, but I asked for it cooked medium and it had passed well-done a few stops back. I had the Laredo burger last night and it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I appreciate that the kitchen has options for everyone. I think the prices are a little high for the quality of the food that they put out, but they won't break the bank either. It's a good place to go when you've got a big party of people if you're willing to sit outside. They have huge signs everywhere that say "NO DOGS" which makes me incredibly sad. Their porch is the perfect place for my pooch to hang out. I wish they would allow dogs and I'm not entirely sure why they don't. How have I been here more than 3 or 4 times, and have yet to write a review??? I'm slacking! I came to Cedar Creek again last night to meet up a friend for some happy hour brewskies and decided to enjoy the indoors for once. The previous times I've been here I thoroughly basked in the outdoors of the ginormous patio area. They probably have one of the best patios in Houston, strictly due to it's vast openness, multiple seating arrangements and there is usually a pit burning somewhere. The inside has that log cabin/aunt's basement kind of feel which I particularly enjoy. Lots of round pub tables good for conversation and relaxing after a long day at work. They offer multiple beers on tap and in bottle and have a full service bar for all your drinking needs. The kitchen also looks like it whips up some tasty bar food, but I have yet to divulge. I love the little creek bridge outside on the back of the bar, but it can be worrisome late at night in heels. Luckily I snagged front row parking right off 20th this time (with a few honks from passersby as I corrected my fancy parking job) and did not have to traverse the steps and risk busting my arse. The Creek is good for me...and I'm sure most others would like it too! read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars for atmosphere and cool decor. It has a really great feel but I have some beef with them. First the service was terrible. TERRIBLE. We sat at a table and a waitress never came, so we ordered at the bar where the bartenders acted like they were burdened to put our food order in. Also, the guy that delivered the food to the table was talking on a cell phone while giving us our food, he pulled it away from his ear just to ask if we needed something, when I responded yes, he acted like it was the most inconvenient thing ever. The food was your basic fried goods and some salads, I opted for a salad because it came with avocado.... once I got my salad, NO AVOCADO. NO waitress, nobody came by, we had to go to the bar to try to get the dang avocado. Everything took forever, nobody was nice or inviting. I didn't even finish my beer and we left. I came with some friends the other night. I just can't get into places like this. The place is extremely popular, but since I don't drink and its a fake austin feel (they are very obviously wanna be austinites) its just a very odd vibe here. I mean, I don't drink but I like going to dive bars like ernies or griffs, but I guess I just don't like going to places where you got wobbly tables, outdoor seating (fortunately the big fans kept the mosquitos away) and loud music that made it impossible to enjoy any good conversation. I can't review the food here because I didn't order any. However, my drink alone deserves a review. First of all, Cedar Creek has a beautiful outdoor seating area. There are plenty of tables surrounded by massive trees and, as the name would suggest, a creek. It gets pretty hot outside but if you're there in the evening, it's not unbearable. The highlight of my Cedar Creek experience was their frozen sweet tea vodka drink. They served it to me in a pint glass, which scared me a little when I saw it (what if I don't like it?). No worries though. The drink tasted cool, refreshing, and not too sweet. I could hardly taste the alcohol but definitely felt it when I stood up. It'll creep up on you! I'm usually not a fan of frozen drinks but this one stands out above any I've ever had. A generous portion of a truly unique drink- I'm ready to go back again! read more

We drove out here tonight because I wanted beer and a patio. I kind of wish we hadn't gone the literal extra miles and stopped at Onion Creek instead. First up, my complaints (so we can end on a good note!): I ordered a shrimp po boy, which ended up being too much bread around four pieces of fried shrimp, some tasteless white sauce, and lettuce and tomato. Bummer. Secondly, I don't know if $2 domestics just bring out the loud, bass-fishing dudes or if it's Cedar Creek's normal crowd, but I was pretty irritated with having to listen to this one guy tell stories at the top of his lungs about being on his boat. And the rest of the people I could see fit his profile: mirrored sunglasses, baseball caps, khaki shorts...you know the bro I'm talkin' about. Lastly complaint-wise: the music is turned up to club volume, and is terrible. If you have had the misfortune of hearing the coffeeshop cover of Outkast's "Hey Ya," you know EXACTLY how bad it was, because that is what was blaring at us as we tried to talk (among other things.) And now for the good: My SO's wings were pretty good for the pricepoint, and we loved the black bean nachos. Our bartender was friendly, the patio was fabulous aside from the noise, and it has a great beer selection just like all the Creeks do. I had heard good things about Cedar Creek in the Heights and was excited to try it, however this visit was a bust. Warning- they do not have table service! On a Friday night at 8:30 pm the entire patio and indoor area was packed and we had to order food and drinks at the bar. IT TOOK FOREVER TO GET ANYTHING. My group of 4 ordered the frozen Jack and Cokes and frozen mimosas, which they are known for. They were excellent, but at least one person in our group was constantly getting up to go the bar to order the next round of drinks or put in an order for food. We ordered the chip and dip trio as an appetizer (chips with salsa, guacamole, and queso), but it came out after our entrees and it came out with 2 bowls of guacamole and no queso. Someone behind the bar told us later they were out of queso. At that point, we were almost done with our meals and didn't even feel like eating chips and dip. Poor service. Our tab was almost $200, and I definitely do not think it was worth it. Not a fun experience at all for a Friday night. read more

Outdoor patio is great, but it can get pretty steamy in the sun. I had the turkey burger thing (thought I ordered a chicken sandwich but this monstrosity came out and I didn't want to send it back) it was lackluster to say the least. Very dry and had no flavor really, kinda like eating cardboard. But I was hungry so I tried to eat what I could. Service here sucks, and the bartenders are rude or snotty, I can't figure out which it is. If you're just up for chilling and don't mind getting up to get some more drinks then this is the place. KISS- just order beer, as I think a mixed drink would be an inconvenience to the bartenders. It would not be my first choice for a hang out place. Plus if you sit by the "creek" there are lots of mosquitoes. I have sweet meat so tend to get eaten up! May go back, may not. I would rather go to Onion Creek or Dry Creek and BYOB read more

Today me and my peeps, my entourage, my posse, okay not my peeps, entourage or even a posse (2 co-workers, Jason and Stephanie) rolled up to the Creek at lunch time and the place was jumping. In the parking lot there were boys with toys, okay they were a little old to be boys, distinguished men with vintage cars trying to see who's car was the loudest. Out on the patio buckets of beer was abundant (obviously these people had no intention of going back to work) and plates were piled high with nachos. We walked in, stepped up to the bar and placed our order. We sat down at a table and watched as the food went by. It all looked so good. If you are looking to be greeted by a smiling or snarling person to seat you at a table, take your order and wait on you then this is not the place for you, Cedar Creek is a joint, a glorified ice house and not a restaurant. That being said Cedar Creek has a cool, funky laid back vibe with eclectic and thrown together decor. The patios are huge and there is an outdoor bar with more funky decor thrown together. We sat at our table and grooved to Nena's 99 Luftballoons, The Clash and The B-52's. We were jealous of all the beer that was headed out on the patio since we had to go back to work and was unable to enjoy the nice weather with beer and nachos. Now for the food: I had the chicken strips with fries, tiny coleslaw and texas toast. The chicken was flavorful but was cold and obviously had been sitting for awhile came with honey mustard and ranch dressing for dipping, but the fries were fresh, hot and salty. Where's the gravy I asked my table mates? I am looking all around but no gravy. How can you serve texas toast without some good texas cream gravy? You know we texans like our gravy. Not to serve gravy is just so unatexan (yes I did!) Anyway as I was complaining to my table mates about the lack of gravy and how I was going to deduct a star from the rating, Cedar Creek blindsided me and threw me off when my boys came on (yes, those boys Bon Jovi) with "You give love a bad name and Bad medicine". I totally forgot about the gravy and was transformed for a brief moment to a Bon Jovi concert. Way to go Cedar Creek, I will not be fooled again! (fist in the air) Jason had the pulled pork sandwich with chili cheese fries and tiny coleslaw. He said the sandwich was good and we both agreed that the tiny coleslaw was good also, but the chili cheese fries were rocking! Would you believe this is the first time that I have ever had chili cheese fries? Sad, but true. Jason and I asked Stephanie how the burger was and with her mouth full she just shook her head up and down and nodded that it was good. We groaned, whined and cried, okay just groaned as we finished our meal with thoughts of having to go back to work. We will be back and next time we will bring the rest of our peeps, entourage and posse, okay just the boss and the rest of the guys in the office and the buckets of beer will flow and we will eat mounds of nachos and pulled pork sandwiches with chili cheese fries and reminisce or something. read more

Ambiance=great, Waiter=terrible, Food serving system=terrible. I wish so badly that it was just bad service because I would try it again in hopes to get a different waiter, but there are so many holes in their system, I won't be back. Great outdoor patio, but concept of serving is just not there. Needs different owner/management! For as many tables as that place has, they need a full wait-staff, no table number concept and they need to expand their kitchen. The inefficiency and gaps are very apparent as we looked around at unhappy customers. I had the worst service I've ever had there. We were willing to order everything at the bar, but a waiter approached us to say they had table side service so we opted for that. We waited 20 minutes to get our beers, 1 hour for our salad and never received our taco order. The waiter and food runners were confused because we didn't have a number at first, so they didn't even come to our table. Our server finally gave us a number and still waited forever for the salad. Even though we had "table side service" we still had to go up to the bar 3 times to ask where our food/drinks were. No apologies were made to us what-so-ever. We saw so many food runners come out of the bar with huge trays of food, walking around the patio for 5-10 minutes trying to find the matching number. What the heck?! By that time, someone's food is getting cold and I'm guessing a lot of the food gets tossed because they can't find the numbers! Like I said, awesome patio, but inefficiencies come from the top, down, so someone needs to step in and change things up a bit! read more

Like others, we had high expectations for the new Creek. However, after two different visits we're NOT going back and will tell all our friends to stay away until they fix the service problems. Our first visit, the weekend before christmas, we waited 10-15 minutes for our server to take our drink orders and then they gave our food to the table next to us. We chalked it up to "new opening working out the kinks". We went back last Saturday thinking they would have worked out the bugs: yeah, right. They had 2 servers working the patio area, both working hard, but they should have had at least 4 people working such a large seating area on a busy Saturday. We waited 15 minutes for a server to finally come by and take drink orders (after I had to go find our own menus). We put in our food order and waited... and waited. After 30 minutes of waiting I went to the bar to ask about our food. Another 15-20 minutes passed before we received our food. It was an hour between when we sat down and when we got our food, which is totally unacceptable. I have to say that our server was very apologetic about the wait and gave us a 50% discount for our troubles. The poor service really wasn't her fault though, as she was totally out-numbered and in the weeds. One major problem they have is that there is no system to tell non-waiter people bringing out the food what table the food belongs to. We have watched servers walk back and forth with the same plate of food for 5 minutes looking for whomever ordered it, and I'm sure the food was cold when it eventually got there. The food itself was ok, but it is overpriced for what you get. Cedar Creek owners/managers need to get their sh!t together if they expect this place to stay open more than a couple of months. Ceder Creek is definitely one of the more unique bars in Houston. Located in the Heights, it has an atmosphere that is relaxing and chill, while at the same time often crowded. When you go inside, especially on weekend, it is often difficult to find a seat , and it can get a bit loud. But on the other hand, it is an absolutely great place to hang out with friends, spend the afternoon relaxing with friends, or just simply drink a beer and surfing the Internet. The fact that it can get so crowded but still feel fairly intimate is due to the large space. Inside the bar there are plenty of places to sit and the tables are fairly spread out. Plus Ceder Creek has one of the largest outside patios that I have seen in Houston. It expands the entire length of the building and again provides you plenty of space to hang out. Cedar Creek has a full menu with great food but from what I understand is not open late. The grill offers everything from po-boys to quesadillas. I ordered their Crustacean Po-Boy and I was fairly impressed. The shrimp were huge and it was quite tasty. Also, their nachos and burgers are pretty good as well. They also offer a full-bar and have decent number of beers on tap. However, I will say that drinks, especially mixed drinks and wine, are expensive. I order a glass of wine, a vodka and coke, and spent nearly $15. Plus my drink was pretty weak. The beer prices were not that much better, so just be prepared to spend more money than you were anticipating for alcohol. But overall, not a bad spot, and I will definitely be making my way back here frequently. read more

There's something about sitting outside a wooden plank patio under a bright full moon and string of multi-colored lights that really puts me in a very relaxed and happy mood. All that's left to be desired for me would be some acoustic guitar player out on the deck and I'd be in heaven. Cedar Creek definitely impressed me with its laid-back, almost country/cabin-like ambiance. Situated in the Heights, this neighborhood hang-out offers a good break from the usual urban bar scene. The large patio (with the creek running along one side) is a huge draw for me. It makes me feel like I've traveled outside the city, and I'm hanging out at a small town's favorite, local bar. So it is more like a 2.5 stars but i am feeling generous ... Parking here is sorta plenty full but this places gets packed so you may end up parking a quarter mile away ... i only come here during fall to spring when it is cooler out, no way will you find me here in let's say august that one sad tree in the middle has like one branch, that's not gonna provide any shade my friend, or should i say my tan friend! so here is what i don't get about this place, am i supposed to feel transferred to some sort of hill country beer shack? whats up with the lame impostor Austin memorabilia? The feel, atmosphere, staff gives absolutely no Austin vibe, none ... nothing weird or hip, so i just don't get the wannabe poseur signs, maybe their is some sort of deep rooted history that only the bartender knows about ... speaking of, here is the other problem, there seems to never be enough bartenders, and you have to wait forever for a drink at the bar so parking may suck if you go later (not CC's fault), one tree with one sad branch (no shade), dumb austin crap (lame) not enough bartenders (thirsty) means i just go elsewhere where i have shade/ac, drinks readily available and if i want to, i can drive the 2 hours to the real Austin read more

Let me start off with an apology. That crowd of twenty-something girls shrieking like banshees over a game of PacMan a few weeks back? Yeah, that was me and my crew, disrupting the tail end of your corporate-looking happy hour. But Yelp reviews are about your personal experience, so... disrupting other people aside, we had a great time! Headed on over for some drinks after a failed attempt at the oh-so-trendy SPJST bingo joint, but all in all it was a great second choice. I enjoyed a delicious white wine sangria, as well as the best burger of my life. Seriously. Bit into that baby and I think my eyes rolled back in my head. They also have frito pie, which is, you know, not great for you, but it's a fun guilty pleasure. I would definitely come back again; the unique old-school lodgey ambiance was something to remember, and if I had been better armed with something bearing lots of DEET I would have definitely sat outside on the patio. However, be careful when you're ready to leave! I imagine those steps down and over the creek are hazardous when you're under the influence. read more

Had an excellent lunch with my granddaughter. She loves the chicken quesadilla and french fries. I love their fried black bean burger with sweet potato fries. Always had an amazing time at this place. They actually live up to their name, with an actual CREEK... and there's even a dock built out on it where you can sit and have a coupla cold ones. Really nice, country/Austiny atmosphere, with an ecclectic and laid-back clientele. Nice grassy area to sit, cool dock, great deck/patio space, and spacious inside. Used to be, you'd have to order at the bar. But, lately, the back-bar bartender's been providing menu service at night. And she, like all the staff, are super cool. Ask for April, she'll hook you up. But, if you have to order at the bar, I've never had to wait very long -- not like Onion Creek where there's no such thing as forming a queue and there's only 2 tenders. All around, Cedar's just a great place to chill out. I do think they need misters or better fan action on the patios, but hell, we manage here in Houston, don't we? Try the egg salad sandwich -- secret ingredient: sage. Soooo gooood! Best I've had at a restaurant, I can honestly say. If you wanna treat, though, try the Ahi tuna sandwich -- IT IS TO DIE FOR, with a wasabi mayonnaise and arugula (my favorite nutty green!). They probably have one of the best ranch salad dressings I've ever had, too. The burgers are pretty top-notch, and they have frito pie and corn dogs. Overall, I'd say their food is a step-up from Onion Creek, and tastier but not fancy like Dry Creek (but Dry Creek is dry, so that's an immediate minus in my book!). Great beer/bar selection. Decent prices. But, all of it works to make for a very enjoyable time for all. One minus, however -- Be wary of the steak night. Now, it may've just been us, but we did put in two separate steak orders. And it might just have been an off night, I don't know. But, I'll tell ya what... Have you ever tried to chew on a leather cowboy boot? Don't ask me why I have, but that's what it was like -- a really yummily spiced and juicy piece of rawhide, that you're hard pressed to get a knife through, let alone chew to a satisfactory swaller. Great spice, I'll admit, but you just can't gnaw through the big hunk of meat what's smell is makin' y'er mouth water! Terrible! In fact, my buddy actually (and this is honest to God truth) finished his steak and immediately got sick. I won't describe how bad it was. Had to take him home to puke. It may've been the sour cream that had been sitting out, I don't know. It may've been the raw chicken he ate for lunch, I don't know. But either way, he got deathly ill, the steak was worse than chewin' on a Goodyear tire, and I'll never do it again. Stick with the amazing menu. Or, I've heard their crawfish is goodly, too. Absolutely LOVE this place! In from Ohio visiting & friends brought us here for some great food & awesome patio for an icy cocktail. The sweet tea drink was strong, sweet & just a delicious frozen treat. Al pastor quesadilla had great flavor. Love the pineapple & cilantro mixed in. So good. I love the spacious patio & laid back atmosphere. The 'Fresh' cocktail was very...refreshing! But seriously, it was damn good. Hendrix gin with mint, cucumber & lime. And good & strong. Food portions are huge so getting your money's worth is no problem at all. If ever in Houston again I will definitely be back here. read more

I've been here twice now, the first time for drinks and the second for dinner/drinks. I kind of hate this place. The service is godawful and unapologetic and the food is mediocre at best. Granted, its a bar so you'll get simple bar food which is fine but the menu is short and nothing really stands out. I'd say it would be good for lounging outside and watching a game but the TVs are probably not even working since the United States got switched from analog to digital. Also, if I remember correctly, one good thing is that part of the patio is surrounded by a moat so if we were in the 1100s we could hold off a seige fairly well. Sadly, its not the 1100s so most likely it would be a thick crowd of pastel shirt, wayfarer glasses wearing frattastic men crossing the waters. hear ye! hear ye! read more

I LOOOOOOOVE this place!! Well, I have only been for breakfast a few times but it is probably my favorite breakfast place to go to in Houston. I have been going on Saturday mornings with a group that I run with. So after our long runs on Saturday mornings, most of us head here to have breakfast. It is never really crowded like some of the other breakfast spots...Empire Cafe and Barnaby's. There are tons of tables inside and outside. The breakfast menu is big with everything from your normal bacon and eggs, to several different omlet selections, a "healthy" section, and some specialties. My favorite is the Mo Mosley...bacon, egg and chese on a biscut. The grits are great too. The service is pretty good....you order at the bar inside, then take a number and sit and they bring the food. The one negative thing is that there are flys EVERYWHERE. Even inside. But I guess thats what you deal with with you have a huge patio area where people eat and huge doors that are left open sometimes. I havent been at night but I always hear it is a fun bar to hang out at and good food too. The restaurant/bar is on this little creek and they even have a little deck with chairs on it so you can take your drink and relax out there. It is a very laid back, Texas country place to go and I cant wait to go back this Saturday! :) read more

This place is great for grabbing some beers with a large group of friends because the outdoor seating is huge and alongside an actual creek. During my weekend in Texas I really wanted a cold margarita with some amazing tex-mex food. I was starving when I came here so I thought this was my place. My margarita was disgusting.. like I can't even find the words to describe how disguting. It was clear in color. Uhh isn't it supposed to be yellow-ish. It was basically tequila with simple syrup and club soda. GROSS. My sister in law and I couldn't even finish half. So disappointed. My veggie burger was a boca burger (ugh I hate boca burgers. The kitchen should definitely try another variety!) with plenty of toppings like feta cheese and cilantro dressing. The rest of the burger was really good and like I expected, made up for the gross patty! VERY filing. We also ordered the artichoke dip which needed some more seasoning and umph. Great breakfast option on the weekends that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Pretty stuck on the Mom's plate and a frozen mimosa. Waffles are basic, but delicious. And thank God for home fries that aren't served in a pile of grease. I admit, the mimosas aren't that strong, but they're still delicious and perfect for battling the outdoor humidity. On a nice day, the patio atmosphere can't be beat. Service is really friendly in the mornings. The atmosphere is Texas Hill Country and this one has a stage for some live music. At times, the music is fun but then other times just too country for my tastes. I do love the patio on nice weather days. Honestly, the patio is the best part of this restaurant. I enjoy sipping on a drink while the breeze blows by. With the right weather conditions, this is a great place to go and just chill for a bit. I have found the food is generally a mixed bag in terms of quality. Sometimes I get a dish that I found good, not amazing, but good. Other times I get things that are bad, not inedible, but bad. For instance, the wings, or "wangs" as they call them, were just not that good. I was hungry so I ate them but I wouldn't order them again. I like my wings spicy, these were not spicy at all even though I ordered their spiciest sauce. I had to use Tabasco sauce to make them palatable to me. Other times I went, the food was good but nothing spectacular or really that noteworthy. The food is just general southern fried stuff with a bit of a trendy spin on them, like a trendy and younger Luby's or Treebeards. The food is good for a simple evening out, but I wouldn't seek this place out for the food. Overall, I find the place adequate. Nothing terribly special except for the outdoor patio, but not bad to the point I wouldn't go again with friends. The full bar is nice and adds to the experience. This location of the Creek chain is situated on the edge of the Heights, next to an actual creek. There is a huge outdoor patio. I came here for the first time as the weather was just starting to warm up after Houston "winter" and lots of people were taking advantage of the sunshine and outdoor seating. There didn't seem to be any wait staff on the patio during happy hour; everyone walked inside to order. The menu had menu options, but it was mostly bar food, stuff that's not good for you. I was hungry and wanted something to absorb the alcohol, so I went with the spicy wings, which had a little kick. For my thirst, I tried the sangria. It was the worst I'd ever had. I tried a few tastes and it didn't get any better. I should've returned it for something else, but I was lazy so I made someone else finish it. Overall, the place is perfect for spring weather, when it's warm enough, but before it gets hot and the mosquitoes come out. Food seemed ok and for drinks, I'd stick with the beer. read more

My husband and I went to Cedar Creek for lunch this past weekend. He had been before, I hadn't. At around 3pm on a Sunday the place was fairly empty, and the atmosphere there is cozy and warm, which I love in a bar/restaurant. I ordered the Greek salad, which was huge, and my husband had the veggie burger and onion rings, which were basically the same as what we always get at Dry Creek, except the burger had mushrooms and a green sauce rather than the fantastic aioli; we shared a plate of excellent fried green tomatoes (why don't more places serve those?!). We had a wonderful, relaxing lunch and will be back. We also noticed plenty of outlets for those wanting to get some work done. It was definitely less crowded than Onion Creek, with a quieter, warmer feel, and had far better seating and...aroma than Dry Creek. read more

Came with my wife and son (in a stroller) to meet up with a group of friends for a Bday. Frozen mimosas, frozen lemonade, and frozen sweet tea vodka! Seasonal crawfish, come a bit early as they may run out on a busy day. Menu has a good mix of tex-mex appetizers, burgers and salads. We had pollo quesadillas which were very tasty. Many in our group had crawfish which they said was "spiced well" and were good in size from what I could see. Outdoor seating feels like you are in a big backyard at a cool camping spot with all the amenities. They have lots of draft beers, craft cocktails the "Fresh" gin, cucumber, mix was good and you can get it with vodka if you don't like gin. You can order from waiters (food service is quick either way) or walk up to the bar. Very busy bar area especially on a weekend. Cedar Creek is a little bit of the Hill Country in the Heights and it is still in the "soft open"... No, I'm not sure what that means other than they haven't hired a full staff or offer their full menu yet so lets give them a little time to get it all together! If you want the glitz and glam, you are in the wrong place. It is a great place to get comfortable and candid with friends. Cynthia S is right about the hike from the furthest reaches of the parking lot, so wear your comfy shoes and bring a good friend. Leave pretense in the car and settle in for an inviting, comfortable atmosphere. Several TVs outdoors on the large deck, people watching is free, and looks like it is well situated for some bands. This is a great destination to release your stress and embrace the mood of the place. I've heard about Cedar Creek but I've never been until last night. It was a cool and breezy night (which is odd in September in Houston) which made hanging out on the patio even more fun. This place has a huge patio and lots of places to sit down. It also had a huge bar inside too. I was hungry so I order the Bottom Feeder Po-boy which was made with catfish. The food came out quick! The po-boy was very tasty but, it was a bit messy because the sauce was dripping out as I was biting it. The catfish was fried perfectly. I didn't really care for the coleslaw because it tasted sweet. The fries were OK nothing thrilling about them. I did enjoy Lone Star on tap! Nice that's the first time I've seen that. There is also a really comfortable couch there. It was really relaxing. I did enjoy the different genres of music playing. The service was great at the bar but, there wasn't any waitress at the tables which I found odd. Would I come back? Yes I would but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I'm a sucker for ice cold beer & a killer patio. Cedar Creek has both!! The lot was full when I pulled up, so I was a lil sketchy on the service & how crowded it would be. But there's plenty of room for all at this joint. Love the hill country decor they have all around. And yes laid back is used millions of times, but that really is the best way to describe this place. The decor, the vibe, the music, the people quickly helped all the craziness that happened before 5pm fade away quickly!! Though it was packed, they had plenty folks up front taking orders. I ordered my St. Arnolds Spring Bock & a round of Freckles & grabbed a tall table on the deck. Plenty of screens outside to catch the games too. Sooo these Freckles...uummm...hell to tha yes!! These fried pickles were some of the best I've had in a while. They were cut just a tad thicker than usual & seemed to be fresh pickles. Not the ones in the jumbo jar ya get from Sam's. The batter was just thick enough & fried to a perfect crisp. They were good & spicy!! I'll admit I went in thinking the reviews were over hyped, but will happily admit I was wrong. Big patio with lots of seating to go along with the Austin feel of this place. They have lots of beer selections to choose from along with an excellent menu of typical and not-so typical bar foods! I do have two complaints about this place though. First, when you go into the bar to place your order, the bartenders need to recognize who's been waiting longer and serve them first. We waited 10 minutes to place our order and it was only after I made a loud comment about how "money talks" did we get noticed and asked what we wanted to order. Our bartender was very helpful and friendly when she came over to us. Second, I wanted to try their frozen watermelon margarita but the machine was broken. No big deal, life happens. However, according to my friends and other patrons of this establishment, that's a typical occurrence here. Maybe it's time they invest in a new margarita machine? Pros about this place that I didn't already mention at the beginning of my review... They had live music playing by a woman who was awesome! I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but I would definitely come back here to listen to her music again! Their burgers are c'est magnifique, but you realy cannot go wrong with any items on their menu. I had been to Canyon Creek (lovely), but Cedar Creek casts the shadow it sits in. I love this place. The bartenders vary in skill levels, so I made sure to pay attention before I made my order, but the atmosphere is good for just hanging out. The pics I saw on Yelp make Cedar Creek look much smaller than it actually is. My favorite aspects are that there is plenty of outdoor seating and that the food takes no time at all to come out. My only warnings are: 1)you can only order at the bar and it can get crowded, 2)the lot fills up so you may have to park on the street, and 3)if you flag down a server (with arms flailing because they don't seem willing), you can order outside. read more

Last week, I was looking for a place to relax, hang out, and catch up with friends. I hadn't been to Cedar Creek in a while, and I knew it was going to be the right spot to do all three things. I jumped on one of their comfy antique couches (the kind of seating you would find in a wood-paneled basement with a deer trophy), and I waited for my fries and sipped on my pink lemonade. The best thing about this "Creek" location is the beautiful scenery. This one has an actual real creak, AND it is the closest one to my house. It is conveniently located along the White Oak Bayou bicycle trail. Making it a popular destination for my bike rides. On Monday nights, they have these delicious wings for $.50 and a burger with beer special for $10. The atmosphere is laid-back and the bartenders are pretty friendly. The seating outdoors reminds me of an afternoon relaxing in Austin. You really don't feel like you are in Houston. So, the next time you need a place to chillax' I would strongly consider Cedar Creek. read more
