Nice vibe in this place, although it can get really noisy if there is a party going on. Our server, Nate, had a nice chill vibe and took good care of us. The Ginger mocktail was very good. Brussels sprouts were tasty if a bit overdone. The CBR smash burger was yummy.

Stopped by CBR during our stay at The Royal Sonesta for a quick happy hour, and can confidently say that this hit the spot! My girlfriend and I both grabbed a margarita, which was pretty good. Along with that, we ordered their fries and hummus. The spotlight of our meal was definitely the hummus. We eat a lot of hummus at home, and this might be one of the best we've had. Great vibe, friendly staff, and tasty snacks. Perfect stop for drinks and apps!

*First Timer* I found this place just walking around Chicago. Great restaurant with great food. Great ambience and the servers were excellent as well. I had the egg white omelette with chicken and vegetables. It was a fairly sized omelette I was able to finish it, but it was a lot of food. Sitting by the window was a nice ambience and I definitely enjoyed my time. Looking forward to coming back.

Honestly service was super ok, it was tough to flag down a hostess and get our checks, we were in a rush or else I wouldn't have mind as much. The eggs were good but the really good food was the nachos thing; holy crap. The potatoes were kinda eh

I stopped in for a quick solo bite and was surprised at how slow it was for a Friday evening. You might consider it sort of hidden. I loved that aspect along with the low lighting and dark decor. I had an order of truffle fries and enjoyed a glass of Faustino Gran Reserva Blanco. It was a perfect pit stop.

CBR was an amazing surprise! This isn't your normal hotel restaurant! This place was legit with a Sunday brunch and full bar! We were luckily enough to get JD as our server. He really made the experience that much more. (I recommend requesting him if he is available).

I stayed in the Sonesta and CBR was in my lobby. I had one of those travel days. I was exhausted the next morning. The service was first rate, the coffee was high quality and my custom omelette was better than expected. I chose ham, cheddar and tomatoes. The ham was flavorful,, the cheddar was the real deal. The tomatoes were truly delicious farm fresh tomatoes. They exceeded my expectations. The experience continues into happy hour. The house red was delicious. Nate was my bartender. He served up the short ribs which were featured in other reviews. Amazing! Had dessert in a glass. Muddled berries, gin, egg white, topped with charred rosemary. Gorgeous.

One of the best Caesar's I've ever had. Seriously. I added the flank steak. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Homemade dressing. Croutons were out of a box but still fine. Steak and salad were the stars and I would absolutely order that again. Was here one time before and got the steak frites with upgraded truffle fries. Also cooked well and had great flavor / seasoning. Both times the ambiance was chill (mid week visits) but has been a cool vibe. I travel to Chicago regularly and this will become a go-to spot.

I stopped into CBR after giving up on getting a seat at a nearby, newly-opened Italian eatery which shall not be named that turned out to have backless barstools and a very high decibel level. Located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel (formerly Palomar), I have fond memories of this spot from its earlier incarnation as Sable. I hadn't had a chance to visit CBR until yesterday. I was in search of a hand-crafted cocktail in charming, peaceful surrounds. I'm happy to report that CBR delivered. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a cozy winter evening. Holiday decor around the space added a seasonal, festive touch. When I stopped in, it seemed like most of the patrons at the bar were staying at the hotel, but I felt welcomed and was promptly offered water and a drink menu. I had a taste for a negroni, which was exceptionally prepared. The menu features mainly light bites, and I was told by the Nate behind the bar that CBR offers happy hour (wine/beer and featured craft cocktails along with food) on Tuesday-Friday, from 4pm-6pm. Will definitely be back here for an elevated happy hour!

After a long drive to the city, we were looking for a quick bite and saw that our hotel restaurant was closing fairly soon. We asked if we could be seated and order food and the server was so nice to get us seated. I ordered the "I'm just mad about Saffron" cocktail and man was it good! It had a ton of different flavors and the combination was amazing. We ordered a side of Brussels sprouts, French fries, and a burger for us all to share. The little one lived their French fries of course but she also loves the Brussels sprouts! The glaze and nuts on top was the perfect sweetness and tang to bring out the flavors. Amazing spot for food and great drinks.

Great little bar attached to the Sonesta hotel. One of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. Nice happy hour menu too.

Edgar treated my group and I with wonderful food and drinks. I would definitely recommend this place for food and as a chic little hide away from the high noon summer heat.

We chose this random brunch spot, and it was no regrets at all! We shared the chicken and waffles, and it was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. I loved that they split it for us, it was so good. It's a NEED to try. The braised beef was just as amazing! I loved how fresh everything tasted with good balance of flavors. My friend got the steak and eggs (w/ potato's) and it was okay! It was pretty good just a little burnt. The lady who served us today at 10:45am, I believe she was new, SHE WAS SO GREAT! She was so quick, accommodating and friendly. The only 2 things we didn't care for was the coffee alcoholic drink, and the fact that I checked in on Yelp and was given a 20% off coupon, for the manager to not let us use it, and gave us another percentage instead, I loved the food though so try it out!

You simply choose your preferred spirit, flavor profile, and glassware, then let the mixologist create something just for you. It's one of my favorite cocktail experiences in the city, and they've never steered me wrong. What I especially appreciate is how knowledgeable the bartenders are. They're always happy to offer recommendations if you're unsure what to order, but they're equally excited to create something completely unique if you're feeling adventurous. Watching them craft each drink is part of the experience. I've even hosted a birthday gathering here in their private side room, where we enjoyed charcuterie boards alongside our cocktails. If you're just stopping in for drinks, though, I'd recommend grabbing dinner beforehand, as the food offerings are fairly limited. More often than not though, you'll find me sitting right at the bar. I love watching the bartenders showcase their craft and chatting with them about the incredible selection of spirits they have on hand. It's a great spot for anyone who genuinely appreciates well-made cocktails and the artistry behind them. I'm also a member of their loyalty program, which is well worth joining. It can be used at The Berkshire Room as well as several other excellent restaurants, making it an easy way to earn rewards while exploring some great dining spots around the city. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or simply looking for a sophisticated place to unwind, The Berkshire Room consistently delivers. I'll definitely be back for another Dealer's Choice soon! #YelpEliteSquad

Taylor for a lower price. Sold! I made a reservation and stopped in that week (if not that very day). The Old Fashioned was fantastic! It had strong whiskey notes without hitting you with a wall of spirit the way a Manhattan, for example, does. The other additions of bitters and syrup did a perfect job rounding the cocktail out, adding sweet and savory notes. As much as I love variety, I loved it so much, I ordered two! I can't lie and say this wasn't at least in part due to the reduced price, that notwithstanding, me ordering two of the same is some of the highest, non-verbal praise one could get from me. For a main, I had the opportunity to try the burger, a special only available 5:00 - 6:30, and mind you I eked in by the skin of my teeth. Before I attempt to break this down, though, I need to take a slight tangent: Do any of you remember the quote from The Menu where Anya Taylor-Joy says: "A real cheeseburger. Not some fancy, deconstructed, affluent b***s***, a *real* cheeseburger."? I am pleased to report the burger here was somewhere between Chef Slowik's "very traditional cheeseburger" and the one Taylor Joy describes! In other words, just fancy enough to feel like I am getting a unique, creative, well thought out dish, but without all the pomp and circumstance! There's just one little problem: as soon as I bit into it, the juices erupting from within soaked the bottom bun, and turned it into a fork and knife affair with an unseen level of precision and speed. Very regrettably, this was the burger's undoing. That first, heavenly bite that had angels singing showed what the burger was really made of (and I mean this figuratively and literally). The beef was of the highest quality, well-seasoned, cooked medium and juicy, with a perfect sear that would have Louis Camille Maillard crying tears of joy. Two types of cheese (one being crisp and airy, the other thoroughly gooey and savory), the perfect amount of bacon, moisture and flavor from a tempura tomato, and divine sauces! One of them was a little sweet, which elevated the flavor like no one's business. Together, all these flavors were a symphony that could give Beethoven a run for his money. However, that unfortunate fact that the thing fell apart so quickly meant that symphony was limited to one bite, the rest being encountered piecemeal. I would rather skip fries than skip dessert (which I did), and ordered the Mango cheesecake. Such velvety perfection! Neither the sweetness nor the mango notes were overpowering, and while it didn't have the crust of a traditional cheesecake, the more gentle variant here absolutely works. I also appreciated the tart sorbet to offer some contrast in flavor, temperature, and texture. Now, let me talk about the service. Given that the restaurant was at capacity, the bar service and speed to get my items was reasonable. Could it hypothetically have been just a touch faster/more attentive? Yes, but in practice, when you have a full house, this is as good as it can get before robots take over. Finally, there is the matter of prices. There is no doubt in my mind that the quality is up there, at the same time, the reason I skipped the side of fries was it would have set me back $11. I suppose the real question is whether or not the quality equals the price, and after some reflection, I think the answer is yes, but one must be prepared for the sticker shock ahead of time. That said, the final verdict: The Franklin Room absolutely delivers on an all-around fantastic meal. I think whatever you order will be in the 90th percentile, at worst! However, this comes at a cost. Therefore, I would love to return to the Franklin Room, but it would likely be more a very occasional treat than a place where I'd be a regular.

Truthfully, I really just wanted to see what that would entail because it seemed a little disgusting or maybe even some kind of high-food, but to my surprise, it was actually a really crispy skinned pizza roll.
