The best fast casual option in Mosaic, in my opinion! (And also the best Cava in the area. Yes, there is a definitely a difference between them.) The concept is simple: it's like a Mediterranean chipotle, except some of the meat costs up to $2 extra, and you have to pick only three spreads. Other than that, it's unlimited toppings, and you can get a pita on the side the same way you can get a tortilla on the side at chipotle: fo free. Here's my order: Greens and grains bowl with white rice, super greens, and lentils 3 spreads: crazy feta, eggplant and red pepper hummus, harissa (it's hot!) Chicken (or if I'm feeling rich, something braised.) Every topping ever. Yogurt dill dressing. (Or sometimes I flip flop and get green harissa dressing and tzaziki or something instead of the red harissa) All this for under $10! It really pays not to be picky at Cava. Plus it's delicious. The drinks are all really good and fresh, too. Sometimes I'm tempted to splurge on one, but usually I stick to water because I'm cheap. My boyfriend and I order Cava from Mosaic District about once a week as we are huge fans. However, two nights ago we found a wheel of a toy car in one of our bowls... an actual toy car wheel attached to a metal rod. Thankfully we found it before it was swallowed or bitten down on, but again, this was a sharp metal rod with a WHEEL on it. Insane. We called the store to notify them and they wanted to assure us that nobody there had any toy cars there. This whole thing would be comical if it wasn't potentially dangerous. We sent an email with photos to customer service and they offered us a refund. Not sure what else we should have expected, given the strangeness of the situation, but it is safe to say we will no longer be customers of Cava, certainly not the Mosaic location. GUESS WHO'S BACK TO YELP??? *raisinghand* Ok, Cava Mezze! I was not too impressed with the Tysons location (inside the mall) because of the jigsaw puzzle-like architectural layout, but the new location in Merrifield (Next to the Angelika Theater) is quite alright. Although a friend and I ran in 10-minutes prior to closing, the gentleman taking our order was friendly and we were not rushed. I was a little skeptical about eating close to closing, but thankfully, the meat was still warm and tender. I had the chicken salad with tzatziki (cucumber), hummus, and roasted red pepper hummus. They even had quinoa (was not at Tysons)!!! I absolutely love how they had a separate clear water dispenser next to the soda fountain machine, which was infused with mints and lemon. I was stoked to find out that they were opening a Cava Mezze Grill in Mosaic, close to my work and right down the street from my favorite Target, as well as one of the XSport Fitness locations I go to! This location is bigger than the one in Tysons Corner Mall, and the staff is more patient here because they don't have the floods of mall traffic. Like I've said in my review for the Tyson's location, this is the Greek/Mediterranean version of Chipotle. The concept is to create your own bowl, pita, mini pitas, or salad, and then add your meat, dips, and toppings. There's so many different variations that you can create which gives you the chance to try something different every time! One of several mediterranean fast casual places to pop up in the last few years, Cava Grill is the winner in my eyes now that I've finally tried it. They offer a nice variety of bases; I went for the grains and greens which is a very nice and healthy balance. Their various toppings and sauces are great; I didn't like all the options but there were plenty of good ones, with enough of them fresh and not pickled and such to suit my needs. A large display on the wall outlines a variety of dietary concern and allergy information for their regular ingredients. These ingredients also have the benefit of being part of the well-established brand. I already liked Cava's sit-down restaurant, and their dips are available in some local grocery stores. Their various iterations of hummus and feta are always excellent. The main drawback is that there only non-meat protein is falafel, which is good, but not the best falafel I've ever had. Still, if you're in the mood for falafel, this place will do well for you. The location here in Mosaic was nice with plenty of seating, and is in the middle of plenty of other happenings and plenty of free parking. I was the first one in the door but plenty of other people came shortly after, and it maintained respectable attendance both before and after I finished my movie across the street. read more

If you don't necessarily want something fancy, but still want good food at a reasonable price, Cava is the place to go. I call it the Mediterranean version of Chipotle and I love it! I've been to several locations, but Chinatown and Mosaic District are my favorite. The employees at those two are very polite and patient, as opposed to the Tysons location where they are rude and in a rush to get a rid of you messing up your order (managed to give me the wrong thing every single time I was there even though I was pointing at what I wanted, just because they're in a "rush"). They have 2 different types of rice, beans, a good variety of meats and sauces, and extra yummy additions. Their pitas are pretty tasty too :) Whenever I don't feel like cooking, I get a bowl from Cava :) I definitely recommend it! read more

This review is really for the franchise more than this location, but this place is as good or better than any others we've been to. My family loves this restaurant! They have so many great flavors and it's made with real food ingredients. Their website has a very helpful allergen table. Cava offers a plethora of options for dairy free and gluten-free diets. Plus, when I asked the corporate headquarters about ingredients (one of use has sensitivity to a very common additive) they answered me promptly. One item on their menu has that additive (pita crisps, which aren't really pretending to be fresh and healthy). I came to cava to get my usual and they first said they didn't have an item on the menu at this location and I've never had that happen with anything in the menu at any other cava ever, that I can deal with but I went to check out and only have cash because Its my preferred payment method for personal reasons and they said used to take it and said there was a sign at the front of the store which there is no sign anywhere. I am slowly beginning to like CAVA more and more. This location is one of the cheaper eats in Mosiac. The supplies come from a local source and I like how they offer healthy options. The food tastes clean and doesn't make you feel bloated or heavy. The staff are professional and ready to go when you walk in. I had a problem with my order and they were professional about it and fixed it. I had the chicken and chewed on some pieces of bone. They use chicken thighs for their cut of meat and I was more understanding of the bones. I told them about it and showed them the bones I picked out. They told me it wasn't supposed to be there and provided me a refund for my order. They said they would contact their supplier. I was satisfied eating here and the way they handled the situation. I LOVED this place! It was like a Mediterranean version of chipotle! For a bowl you could get grains, salad or a mix of both for your base, a meat and then you could pick from an array of toppings including hummus, tzatziki, olives, feta, tabouli, etc. It is was the perfect portion size and felt so fresh. We have ordered from the Panera at Mosaic a few times and they are so accommodating of our large order! Considering all the other options in Mosaic, CAVA is one of their healthier options on the cheaper side! I always tell people if you don't feel like getting Chipotle (and let's face it they have had a lot of health issues ) then come by here! For $9 you get a good grain bowl. You can pick your own toppings and it's unlimited whatever toppings you would like to put, the man in front of me got EVERYTHING and that was awesome! It's very clean here as well. I don't think I ever been to a CAVA that was as clean as here. The staff are very polite as well. Pro tip: Order a to go. I wanted to give this place 5 stars, I do! But when the rules change and you're used to getting something.. only now you get a small amount, feeling duped.. yea - four stars. I absolutely loved this Cava location. I came here at least once a week while I was in the area for an extended work project, and I could always rely on the staff to provide me with a delicious, hearty, and healthy meal for a very reasonable price! Honestly sometimes the bowl was so filling that I would save the second half for lunch the next day. My order was always a half and half with brown rice and the Super Greens. One thing not to forget - always ask for the pita on the side, which is free! Sometimes I had staff who would forget to ask me, so I always made it a point to ask for it. I never stayed at this particular location to eat, but everything looked very clean and comfortable to me. There's also a nice outdoor seating area that people were always taking advantage of in the summer. I would say parking is readily available in any of the Mosaic parking structures (the Target parking area is probably the closest). My favorite CAVA location is without a doubt this one here. I ordered through the CAVA app and set the pick up time. Arrived about 5 minutes early and asked for my pick up. There must have been some error so the food was not ready. But a gentleman (wish I got his name) right away told me he would be able to make it in less than 5 minutes! (which was amazing because I ordered three bowls, 2 pita breads, and one drink AND this was during a crazy lunch hour) I checked inside the bag and found a third pita and another drink. In today's visit, the woman making my bowl seemed annoyed that I asked for "all the veggies." She then shook her head in disgust when I asked for more sauce because nothing came out of the bottle she was using. If I came here enough times, I'd probably give this place more stars. But, for now, a solid three. Let's start with the ordering process. While I do like the whole concept of "build it yourself" meals, sometimes it can be too complicated. It's not necessarily too complicated here, but unless you've been here and know what you like, it's easy to go overboard. The first step is picking your base (salad, pita, rice, etc.). Then, you pick your dips/spreads (Hummus, Harisa, Tzatziki, etc.). After that comes your protein (you can pick 2, but it'll be half and half. Not 2x the meat). Step #4, you pick your toppings (tomato-cucumber, cabbage slaw, California Quinoa Tabouleh, and Feta are just a few options. Many more on the list. You can pick as many as you want, but then the dish's flavors get diluted real fast if you add too much. Which is what happened to me. Lastly, you pick your dressing. Kind of weird to get dressing with my rice dish, but I did. As you can see, lots of options, and lots of ways to screw up your meal. It's like they say sometimes, "less is more." I believe if I ordered less items in my bowl, it would be better. More importantly, it would've been nice if someone "suggested" to not put too much in my bowl. Also, with other "build it yourself" restaurants, they should have some dishes that are pre-selected. Not the case here. With that being said, I will say that all the items I got seemed to be really fresh! Last thing to note is that the guys working at the counter seemed to be rushing me. Not only were they not helpful, they kept pushing our bowls to the next "station" after only telling them one thing in the areas that they allow you 2 or more options. Review #24 Cava is located in the Mosaic District, at 2905 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031, near the Target 1st floor entrance from the parking garage or from the street, and across from the Angelika Film Center/Theatre. They are open from 11am to 10pm daily. Cava serves Mediterranean food in a fast food assembly line manner, and most of the time it's very quick, if there are enough servers to process the long line of people. Most of the time you can get your food in 10 minutes or less, again, depending upon how many servers are working at a given time and how long the line is. The counter is arranged by food type items. You start with choosing your base; pita, bowl, mini pitas, or a salad. Then you choose the dips and spreads you want to go on top of the base, up to three choices. You can choose a protein, and most meat is an additional $1.80. You also get unlimited toppings. I usually get the bowl, costing $8.50, with basmati rice; then hummus or roasted red pepper hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant and red pepper for the dips; the braised lamb for my protein, since it always looks and tastes juicy and not dry; and for my toppings I choose tomato and cucumber salad, cabbage, feta, quinoa or tabbouleh, and lemon herb tahini. The staff is usually very friendly. Only one time was a woman rude to me, and harshly shoved my food towards me and it almost went over the counter. Plus she hadn't put the to go lid on it when she was getting my change and almost dropped the change into the bowl, which would have cost them since I would have insisted on getting new food. Who's going to eat food that just had dirty coins dropped onto it? I guess if you're really hungry, in a hurry, and don't care about germs, then you wouldn't mind. She also just set the lid on top of the bowl and it wasn't secured, so if I hadn't stopped it from falling off the counter, the food would have went everywhere.
