The best fast casual option in Mosaic, in my opinion! (And also the best Cava in the area. Yes, there is a definitely a difference between them.) The concept is simple: it's like a Mediterranean chipotle, except some of the meat costs up to $2 extra, and you have to pick only three spreads. Other than that, it's unlimited toppings, and you can get a pita on the side the same way you can get a tortilla on the side at chipotle: fo free. Here's my order: Greens and grains bowl with white rice, super greens, and lentils 3 spreads: crazy feta, eggplant and red pepper hummus, harissa (it's hot!) Chicken (or if I'm feeling rich, something braised.) Every topping ever. Yogurt dill dressing. (Or sometimes I flip flop and get green harissa dressing and tzaziki or something instead of the red harissa) All this for under $10! It really pays not to be picky at Cava. Plus it's delicious. The drinks are all really good and fresh, too. Sometimes I'm tempted to splurge on one, but usually I stick to water because I'm cheap. Oh and they have a nice changing table for all you mamas and papas out there! read more

GUESS WHO'S BACK TO YELP??? *raisinghand* Ok, Cava Mezze! I was not too impressed with the Tysons location (inside the mall) because of the jigsaw puzzle-like architectural layout, but the new location in Merrifield (Next to the Angelika Theater) is quite alright. Although a friend and I ran in 10-minutes prior to closing, the gentleman taking our order was friendly and we were not rushed. I was a little skeptical about eating close to closing, but thankfully, the meat was still warm and tender. I had the chicken salad with tzatziki (cucumber), hummus, and roasted red pepper hummus. They even had quinoa (was not at Tysons)!!! I absolutely love how they had a separate clear water dispenser next to the soda fountain machine, which was infused with mints and lemon. Love, love, love that little extra effort. Cava Mezze vs. Chipotle. Cava Mezze. Yes...there, I said it. It's better than Chipotle. Health wise, taste wise, Elina wise. read more

I was stoked to find out that they were opening a Cava Mezze Grill in Mosaic, close to my work and right down the street from my favorite Target, as well as one of the XSport Fitness locations I go to! This location is bigger than the one in Tysons Corner Mall, and the staff is more patient here because they don't have the floods of mall traffic. Like I've said in my review for the Tyson's location, this is the Greek/Mediterranean version of Chipotle. The concept is to create your own bowl, pita, mini pitas, or salad, and then add your meat, dips, and toppings. There's so many different variations that you can create which gives you the chance to try something different every time! I love Cava Mezze Grill because it's healthy, the portions are just right, and I don't feel sluggish after eating it! (especially after spending some time at the gym) read more

CAVA - Bowl with chicken and all of my favorite toppings! - Mediterranean Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

Hello, my name is Katie and I am in LOVE with Cava Mezze Grill. Apparently I am late to this party.. but better late than never, right? It's a simple concept (as others have said--just like Chipotle), pick your vessel, pick your protein, add some sauces and some toppings and BOOM party in your face. I opted for a fallafel bowl with tzatziki, hummus, and harissa, all of the toppings (yolo) and sricha dressing drizzle. Oh man. SO good. Also, the cucumber, lemon, mint drink was a welcome change from soda and I kind of wish I had one right now! read more

I love this place the crew are very friendly and the food always fresh and tasty, I really recommend this place

Always messes up order. Did not receive protein. Unfriendly customer service. Came to pick up order and the order was not printed.

One of several mediterranean fast casual places to pop up in the last few years, Cava Grill is the winner in my eyes now that I've finally tried it. They offer a nice variety of bases; I went for the grains and greens which is a very nice and healthy balance. Their various toppings and sauces are great; I didn't like all the options but there were plenty of good ones, with enough of them fresh and not pickled and such to suit my needs. A large display on the wall outlines a variety of dietary concern and allergy information for their regular ingredients. These ingredients also have the benefit of being part of the well-established brand. I already liked Cava's sit-down restaurant, and their dips are available in some local grocery stores. Their various iterations of hummus and feta are always excellent. The main drawback is that there only non-meat protein is falafel, which is good, but not the best falafel I've ever had. Still, if you're in the mood for falafel, this place will do well for you. The location here in Mosaic was nice with plenty of seating, and is in the middle of plenty of other happenings and plenty of free parking. I was the first one in the door but plenty of other people came shortly after, and it maintained respectable attendance both before and after I finished my movie across the street. read more

My boyfriend and I order Cava from Mosaic District about once a week as we are huge fans. However, two nights ago we found a wheel of a toy car in one of our bowls... an actual toy car wheel attached to a metal rod. Thankfully we found it before it was swallowed or bitten down on, but again, this was a sharp metal rod with a WHEEL on it. Insane. We called the store to notify them and they wanted to assure us that nobody there had any toy cars there. This whole thing would be comical if it wasn't potentially dangerous. We sent an email with photos to customer service and they offered us a refund. Not sure what else we should have expected, given the strangeness of the situation, but it is safe to say we will no longer be customers of Cava, certainly not the Mosaic location. Beware of weird objects in your food, or who knows what else! read more

I really liked this place. It's like chipotle fused with Greek/Mediterranean food. U have a choice of 5-6 different types of meats -chicken, falafel, meatball, lamb on either pitas, rice, brown rice or salad with toppings dressing in a chipotle setting environment. Top this with a mint cucumber drink and its a great spot for a quick lunch where u can either eat indoors or out. read more

If you don't necessarily want something fancy, but still want good food at a reasonable price, Cava is the place to go. I call it the Mediterranean version of Chipotle and I love it! I've been to several locations, but Chinatown and Mosaic District are my favorite. The employees at those two are very polite and patient, as opposed to the Tysons location where they are rude and in a rush to get a rid of you messing up your order (managed to give me the wrong thing every single time I was there even though I was pointing at what I wanted, just because they're in a "rush"). They have 2 different types of rice, beans, a good variety of meats and sauces, and extra yummy additions. Their pitas are pretty tasty too :) Whenever I don't feel like cooking, I get a bowl from Cava :) I definitely recommend it! read more

It's been a long time since my original review of CAVA, and it's only gotten better. Food is always fresh and the portions are perfect. Pita comes on the side now - they no longer charge $1 like when they first opened. If you download the app and reach Foodie Status (spend $100), you can get $8 for every $100 you spend. You also get a free meal on your birthday! read more

I came to cava to get my usual and they first said they didn't have an item on the menu at this location and I've never had that happen with anything in the menu at any other cava ever, that I can deal with but I went to check out and only have cash because Its my preferred payment method for personal reasons and they said used to take it and said there was a sign at the front of the store which there is no sign anywhere. Made me feel real uncomfortable because i only pay in cash when I go out unless I know before I go. Very upset read more

This review is really for the franchise more than this location, but this place is as good or better than any others we've been to. My family loves this restaurant! They have so many great flavors and it's made with real food ingredients. Their website has a very helpful allergen table. Cava offers a plethora of options for dairy free and gluten-free diets. Plus, when I asked the corporate headquarters about ingredients (one of use has sensitivity to a very common additive) they answered me promptly. One item on their menu has that additive (pita crisps, which aren't really pretending to be fresh and healthy). Cava's commitment to real food has made my family very satisfied and loyal customers. read more

I Love Cava Grill, one of the best places to eat on the go. The Mediterranean version of chipotle. I always get the green and grain bowl with chicken. The braised lamb and falafels are tasty. Love coming here for lunch after a gym workout. The only downside is it is kinda pricey. Remember to add the pita crisps to your bowl! You won't regret it. read more

I am slowly beginning to like CAVA more and more. This location is one of the cheaper eats in Mosiac. The supplies come from a local source and I like how they offer healthy options. The food tastes clean and doesn't make you feel bloated or heavy. The staff are professional and ready to go when you walk in. I had a problem with my order and they were professional about it and fixed it. I had the chicken and chewed on some pieces of bone. They use chicken thighs for their cut of meat and I was more understanding of the bones. I told them about it and showed them the bones I picked out. They told me it wasn't supposed to be there and provided me a refund for my order. They said they would contact their supplier. I was satisfied eating here and the way they handled the situation. Excellent service. It is a good idea to get a to go container if you don't think you can finish the whole bowl even if you are eating in. read more

I LOVED this place! It was like a Mediterranean version of chipotle! For a bowl you could get grains, salad or a mix of both for your base, a meat and then you could pick from an array of toppings including hummus, tzatziki, olives, feta, tabouli, etc. It is was the perfect portion size and felt so fresh. I was a little skeptical when we first got there but now I wish we had one of these in NC because I would eat there over places like chipotle or moe's for sure! read more

My team at work celebrates birthdays monthly by choosing a place to order lunch and eating together at the office during the first part of our team meeting. We have ordered from the Panera at Mosaic a few times and they are so accommodating of our large order! They accept the order on a chart through email and they put each individual's name on their food to make it easy for us when we get it back to the office. In addition, they allow us to pull up to the back door of the store and bring the bags out to us. Not only do we love CAVA's food, but we love that they go the extra mile for us! read more

Considering all the other options in Mosaic, CAVA is one of their healthier options on the cheaper side! I always tell people if you don't feel like getting Chipotle (and let's face it they have had a lot of health issues ) then come by here! For $9 you get a good grain bowl. You can pick your own toppings and it's unlimited whatever toppings you would like to put, the man in front of me got EVERYTHING and that was awesome! It's very clean here as well. I don't think I ever been to a CAVA that was as clean as here. The staff are very polite as well. Pro tip: Order a to go. This way you can get more good unnoticed unlike when you dine in with just a small bowl. read more

I wanted to give this place 5 stars, I do! But when the rules change and you're used to getting something.. only now you get a small amount, feeling duped.. yea - four stars. Food: I remembered when I first tried this place with a friend. I ordered: - grains/rice, got a generous amount of 4 pieces of falafel and roasted veggies, you get three dips/sauce (I rec eggplant hummus times three), load up on pita chips, delicious cauliflower quinoa, fresh chopped cucumbers, etc.. - get their specialty drinks at the fountain area. I loooooooveee their unique drinks. My favorite would always be the green ones. Cons: So on my fourth trip, they changed how they serve the portions of the meat. No longer 4 falafel pieces and 4 meatballs. It is now 2 and 2 if you split. So sad!! They even admitted they changed policies and so we get less amount than before when i questioned about the amount given. Pros: . Great high chairs for toddlers bc they're Stokke brands. Only it is a little complicated to use. . Delicious specialty drinks you can refill!! Win! . Seems like a healthy food spot (you can get a salad instead of rice)! Definitely diff if you want something other than your typical chipotle or mcDs read more

I absolutely loved this Cava location. I came here at least once a week while I was in the area for an extended work project, and I could always rely on the staff to provide me with a delicious, hearty, and healthy meal for a very reasonable price! Honestly sometimes the bowl was so filling that I would save the second half for lunch the next day. My order was always a half and half with brown rice and the Super Greens. One thing not to forget - always ask for the pita on the side, which is free! Sometimes I had staff who would forget to ask me, so I always made it a point to ask for it. I never stayed at this particular location to eat, but everything looked very clean and comfortable to me. There's also a nice outdoor seating area that people were always taking advantage of in the summer. I would say parking is readily available in any of the Mosaic parking structures (the Target parking area is probably the closest). I'll miss you Cava, when I'm off to other pastures without such delicious and reasonably priced options. read more

Love this location! Food is amazing & stuff is very friendly, definitely recommend this location! I've been coming to this cava since 2016

My favorite CAVA location is without a doubt this one here. I ordered through the CAVA app and set the pick up time. Arrived about 5 minutes early and asked for my pick up. There must have been some error so the food was not ready. But a gentleman (wish I got his name) right away told me he would be able to make it in less than 5 minutes! (which was amazing because I ordered three bowls, 2 pita breads, and one drink AND this was during a crazy lunch hour) I checked inside the bag and found a third pita and another drink. You guys were super awesome!!! I have a CAVA location 10 minutes near my house but I wouldn't mind driving 30 minutes to come to this one. read more

4.5 Stars Gluten Free - Yes Casein Free - Yes The best way to explain Cava is a upscale Mediterranean style Chipotle. + Food - locally sourced and fresh + Price - While some might find the cost somewhat high, you get what you pay for. If I came here enough times, I'd probably give this place more stars. But, for now, a solid three. Let's start with the ordering process. While I do like the whole concept of "build it yourself" meals, sometimes it can be too complicated. It's not necessarily too complicated here, but unless you've been here and know what you like, it's easy to go overboard. The first step is picking your base (salad, pita, rice, etc.). Then, you pick your dips/spreads (Hummus, Harisa, Tzatziki, etc.). After that comes your protein (you can pick 2, but it'll be half and half. Not 2x the meat). Step #4, you pick your toppings (tomato-cucumber, cabbage slaw, California Quinoa Tabouleh, and Feta are just a few options. Many more on the list. You can pick as many as you want, but then the dish's flavors get diluted real fast if you add too much. Which is what happened to me. Lastly, you pick your dressing. Kind of weird to get dressing with my rice dish, but I did. As you can see, lots of options, and lots of ways to screw up your meal. It's like they say sometimes, "less is more." I believe if I ordered less items in my bowl, it would be better. More importantly, it would've been nice if someone "suggested" to not put too much in my bowl. Also, with other "build it yourself" restaurants, they should have some dishes that are pre-selected. Not the case here. With that being said, I will say that all the items I got seemed to be really fresh! Last thing to note is that the guys working at the counter seemed to be rushing me. Not only were they not helpful, they kept pushing our bowls to the next "station" after only telling them one thing in the areas that they allow you 2 or more options. I almost felt like the guy had a thick mustache and was about to yell, "no pita for you!" read more

Review #24 Cava is located in the Mosaic District, at 2905 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031, near the Target 1st floor entrance from the parking garage or from the street, and across from the Angelika Film Center/Theatre. They are open from 11am to 10pm daily. Cava serves Mediterranean food in a fast food assembly line manner, and most of the time it's very quick, if there are enough servers to process the long line of people. Most of the time you can get your food in 10 minutes or less, again, depending upon how many servers are working at a given time and how long the line is. The counter is arranged by food type items. You start with choosing your base; pita, bowl, mini pitas, or a salad. Then you choose the dips and spreads you want to go on top of the base, up to three choices. You can choose a protein, and most meat is an additional $1.80. You also get unlimited toppings. I usually get the bowl, costing $8.50, with basmati rice; then hummus or roasted red pepper hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant and red pepper for the dips; the braised lamb for my protein, since it always looks and tastes juicy and not dry; and for my toppings I choose tomato and cucumber salad, cabbage, feta, quinoa or tabbouleh, and lemon herb tahini. The staff is usually very friendly. Only one time was a woman rude to me, and harshly shoved my food towards me and it almost went over the counter. Plus she hadn't put the to go lid on it when she was getting my change and almost dropped the change into the bowl, which would have cost them since I would have insisted on getting new food. Who's going to eat food that just had dirty coins dropped onto it? I guess if you're really hungry, in a hurry, and don't care about germs, then you wouldn't mind. She also just set the lid on top of the bowl and it wasn't secured, so if I hadn't stopped it from falling off the counter, the food would have went everywhere. There are tables inside and also a few outside the restaurant. read more

CAVA - Cava Mezze Grill: Braised Lamb Bowl - Mediterranean Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

About a 2-2.5: Cava Grill offers build-your-own bowls of Mediterranean goodies. You start off with a base (salad, rice, pita, or grains), dips/spread, protein (falafel, grilled chicken, grilled meatballs, braised beef, spicy lamb meatballs, or braised lamb), toppings (lemon wedges, pickled onions, quinoa tabbouleh, etc.), and then dressings. I did a Greens & Grain option for the base, which I opted for Romaine lettuce and saffron basmati rice (that had parsley), hummus/tzatziki/Crazy Feta (they really give you small scoops, which I thought was kind of stingy), falafels (these were not crispy at all, and it seemed as if they weren't cooked all the way through; I just think that the way they prepare them are intended to be very wet/mushy?, cucumber (finely-cubed with olive oil and lemon), kalamata olives, and crumbled feta. I wasn't really a fan of my creation, and I wished they had some 'favorite combos' listed for those who are 'build-your-own'-challenged. I did like my hubs' version, as he had the Greens & Grain (Romaine and the basmati rice), hummus/tzatziki/Harissa, grilled chicken (these were actually flavorful and yummy), tomato & cucumber salad, and dressed with Spicy Harissa - this seemed to have more of a melding of flavors. I'll probably go for the chicken next time and play around with the sauces; the pita bread, that is complimentary, had an off taste to it, so I think I'll stick with the pita chips for the dips. However, the star of the show was the juices that were available for as many refills as you'd like - I tried the Carrot Ginger Lemonade (more sweet from the carrots), the Limeade (it was herby), and, my most favorite, the Mango Apple Kale (a green juice, this had the sweetness from the apples in a green-power concoction (I didn't really taste any mango, though) - this was really refreshing and yummy, and I'm not sure if there were any crazy amounts of sugar added to it, but it was still tasty and made you believe you were drinking something healthy AHAHAHA They had recycling stations, for compost, plastics, etc., which was nice, and plenty of seating (both inside and outside). The one thing I did notice was that it was really loud in here - not sure if it was the acoustics, but the combination of the music, the staff (one literally let out a bloodcurdling scream from joking around that almost stopped by heart!), and the multiple conversations, it can get a little overwhelming. There's plenty of parking in the free garage around the corner. +Mango Apple Kale :D +grilled chicken +Crazy Feta +mushy falafels T___T +stingy portions T___T +extremely loud inside (!) +in the Mosaic District, to the right of Taylor Gourmet read more

My daughter went here once before and loved it, so she really wanted me to take her here. I had been to one of these places before, and found it really disappointing so I had no desire to go. However, to make her happy, I took her today. Well, she ended up eating maybe half and throwing the rest away. She said it didn't taste good, and the women was really skimpy with the vegetables. Mine was okay, fine. But all those sauces and feta cheese made me feel sick afterwards. So, our experience here today made my daughter feel sad and me feel sick. Hence, the one star! .On the positive side, at least next time I'll get to pick where we go get food for dinner! Update! After my review, I was contacted by CAVA. We exchanged a lot of emails, and they ultimately gave me a credit to use for a future purchase. So, I'm really impressed with their customer service, and I look forward to trying them out again. CAVA - Family lunch today!! - Mediterranean Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

I am still in love with Cava, but I feel like I've been here enough times that I kinda get their mode of operations. So many people have commented on the serving size. Maybe we've all been spoiled with Chipotle's generous serving sizes...but it just feels like Cava will give you the least amount possible that they can get away with. The "do half an half proteins" trick does not work here. I think you actually get less protein if you order half an half. It's more like 1/3 and 1/3. I find the servings inconsistent too. I did half falafel one time and got 3 falafels. I did it another time and they insisted you only get two. And if you get it in a to-go bowl it's a lot less than if you eat there. It just is!! I must sound like a fatty discussing the serving sizes here, but I'm just saying. They aren't very generous. Oh, and one time when I was walking inside, someone was walking out and said "They get so mad when you ask for extra toppings" The toppings are free. I find that sometimes they do get a little eye rolly when you ask for extra quinoa. It's quinoa. It's not like I was asking for extra french fries and an XL coke. It's whatever. I'll still go there because I love it but yeah. There ya have it. read more

I've never eaten at Cava Mezze Sr., so I really have no comparison for the company's new grill venture, other than to say that those who liken it to "Mediterranean Chipotle" kind of hit the nail on the head. Cava Mezze offers assembly-line fast-casual mediterranean food with flair. If you've ever eaten at Roti, it's a very similar concept, although I do think that Cava pulls the whole thing off better. I opted for a bowl with pork, hummus, tzaziki, and crazy feta (which was crazy delicious!), and pretty much ALL THE TOPPINGS: cabbage, onions, more feta, kalamata olives... the list, it goes on. My bowl was very filling and flavorful, even after the drive home (I took it to go). They also have a variety of soft drinks and whatnot available, although those ramp up the price of your meal pretty much exponentially. You're probably better off just sticking to the menu items and grabbing a cup for agua. (Water can be free? Who knew?!) I think this is a great place to grab a quick bite, with slightly more of an ethnic flavor profile than many of Mosaic's other fast-casual establishments. I give Cava Mezze a solid 4-star rating. It's not exactly a reinvention of the wheel or anything, but it's a tasty wheel at that. Or, you know, some other kind of clever metaphor that actually works. Salud! read more
