First time at this place and I had a great experience. As soon as I told Erika it was my first time and I wasn't sure what to get she was super cool and nice enough to explain everything. When I asked her for suggestions she was happy to give me her favorites and the most popular options. Make yourself a bowl you can go with a salad of which there are 4 options or you can go with a grain of which there are 3 options. In my case I did a mix of salad and grain, winner. It comes with a peta so score ! Then you chose 3 out of 6 dips. Hummus, Greek yorgut and a spicy one which according to Erika is not that spicy, it has a kick to it. Then you pick your protein. There are 8 options. I doubled down on the meatballs and the lamb meatballs. Good choice if I may say so myself! Then you add all the toppings you want, brag yourself a drink and enjoy! We enjoy eating here for lunch. We have celiacs and they are always safe with our food. They have no problem changing there gloves and going down the whole line with is. The Menu is on the wall which lets you know what has gluten, dairy, and other things people might not be able or just don't want to eat. The staff is friendly and never makes me feel uncomfortable about asking them to prepare my meal with attention not to cross contaminate, even when there busy. I love this place, and so do my young children. If my son (2y) is ever not feeling well and won't eat well, we find if we get him a bowl of Cava he will eat it up every time. read more

This is probably one of our favorite Cava locations. We live near the Fairfax City location, and don't mind driving to the Mosaic one. We usually get the split rice/salad bowl with falafel. The ingredients are usually fresh and they are generous with the portions. The falafel is usually fried well, except for the last visit, when it tasted a bit old. I've also had the falafel wrap. The wrap size could be a bit bigger, but that may also be my Americanized food portion mentality. I come to this location all the time since my job is right down the street. But this morning at 11 am the staff were just plain rude. The lady doing the rice barely gave me any so I had to ask for extra just to get the normal amount. The man doing the toppings was just not listening, I had to keep repeating myself. He also had a scowl on his face like he didn't want to be there. Also the cashier got annoyed when I asked for some extra dressing. A few years, I ate at Cava Mezze in Clarendon, which is more Greek tapas-style, and didn't particularly care for it. So when Cava Mezze Grill opened in Mosaic, I didn't think much of it. Last night, prior to watching Jurassic World, I went here for a quick dinner. Cava Mezze Grill is basically a Mediterranean-style Chipotle, similar to how ShopHouse is an Asian-style Chipotle. But I'm okay with that. Why reinvent the wheel? Bring on Chipotle Mediterranean-style! You start with a base - salad, rice bowl, greens + grains, pita, mini pitas, or minis + soup. I opted for a rice bowl with saffron basmati rice. Then, you choose your dips and spreads. There are six to choose from: eggplant and red pepper, hummus, tzatziki, harissa, crazy feta, and roasted red pepper hummus. I chose hummus and harissa, which a spicy dip made from tomatoes and red peppers. Next, pick your protein! Falafel, grilled chicken, spicy lamb meatballs, grilled meatballs, braised beef, and braised lamb. I chose chicken. Lamb is apparently an extra $2. Afterwards, you pick your toppings, like romaine, tomato + onion, pickled onions, kalamata olives, cabbage slaw, quinoa, cucumbers, pita crisps, mint, or feta. I opted for healthier options like tomato + onion, olives, romaine, cucumbers, and quinoa. Finally, you pick your dressing, although I decided against slathering on additional dressing. I've always been a big Cava fan and figured it was about time to post a review. One of my favorite "fast food" restaurants where I can fill up and eat a quick healthier meal. You can pack so much flavor into your bowl- chipotle doesn't touch the amount of options Cava provides. I'd suggest doing half meat and half meatballs. First off, I will say that, while I really like Cava, it's still not my favorite of the Mediterranean fast casual (Mezeh, in Gaithersburg, holds that title). That aside, this location has always been good, and worth 4 stars. The 5th star is for an experience I had a few nights ago that displayed their exceptional customer service. I went in an hour before closing and ordered, as usual, except they ran out of roasted vegetables. They offered an alternative, as well as the option of waiting. I kind of wanted the vegetables, so I told them I'd wait. I wasn't in a particular hurry, and went on my phone to check messages, pass time, etc., and hadn't the faintest idea for how long I did that. All I remember was that, when my food was ready, they didn't accept my money. I had a short standoff, where I refused to accept it without paying because it wasn't a big deal, but they didn't budge because they said they made me wait longer than they initially told me to wait. I accepted their gesture of hospitality, and happily ate my food at home. This is the level of service that I get only at Mezeh, and it left enough of an impression to compel me to write a review. I'd gladly drive 10 minutes to eat at this location instead of crossing the street to go to the Cava closest to my job. read more

I can happily say that I've got a few of a my friends hooked on this place. What I like about eating here is that I don't feel completely guilty after devouring a bowl full of food. Yes, the portion is a bit smaller than other similar style restaurants, but it's filling enough for me! I just sometimes get greedy and want more when I know I really shouldn't. Tip to others: If you don't know much about Greek food then yes, you're going to find this place a little bit overwhelming because you aren't familiar with all the toppings. This is the third location of Cava I've eaten at (not on purpose but now that might be a fun goal to accomplish) and this is my favorite so far. The food is delicious as usual. If you have not yet heard about Cava, it really is like a Mediterranean Chipotle. It's set up assembly line style. You go up to the counter, choose your base (bowl, pita, salad) choose your meat/protein, choose your sauces, and then your toppings. Each time I've gone, I've ordered the bowl (I really wanted their rice the first time and fell in love). Then I do a meat/falafel combo, tzaziki, hummus, then change up my toppings. I really like their cucumber salad that I add to the bowl. Service is quick, depending if there is a line but the staff move quickly. The place is clean and simple. Everything is fresh, and they partner with local farmers too. You can feel good about yourself and the wonderful food you put into your body. They even infuse their water with either lemons or cucumbers. (I can't remember, so I apologize in advance). A not so novel concept that Cava has definitely embraced. We walked in, and it seemed like a Greek version of Chipoltle, but healthier. I ordered the salad with chicken/falafel and the bf ordered a pita. The best part, unlimited extra toppings!!! I tried about 80% of them, and they were all fantastic. The price point was amazing, we were both completely full, and didn't feel sick (like I would at chipolte) after. The most astounding part was the customer service-- as the soda machine was not working until after we were more than half way through our meal. One of the employees came by and gave my bf his next meal free due to the soda machine issue. This was extremely unexpected and added another star to my already 5 star review. I hope Cava opens up more of these "Fast Cava" type places, as it's the great Cava food in a faster, better price point experience. Any Cava newbies should check out the menu prior to going on a busy weekday lunch. The menu can be overwhelming, and it helps to limit to dirty looks from the Cava regulars who have their order down pat. That being said, generally, everyone is nice from the employees to the other patrons. This is a crowded place with a line out the door at times, but people are courteous not to take a table before they order or dawdle too long while others are trying to scope out a place to sit. For the food, I never get the same thing twice, but I'm also never disappointed. The Spicy Lamb is just spicy enough to pique the senses without being scorching. The Braised lamb is juicy and good on bowls or as a messy pita. The Crazy Feta is delicious and lends a kick that I tend to counteract with the yogurty goodness of Tzatziki sauce. As a fan of Mediterranean food I was trilled to hear that Cava was opening near my work. I've visited here a few times since they opened and I can say that I'm very happy with the place. For starters the food is awesome, completely customizable, and loaded with flavor. Whether you get pita or a salad you won't be disappointed with the taste that makes your tongue say "WOW!" The pitas are warm and fresh, the greens are packed with tasty notes and the hummus is killer. I love the mixture of flavors so when I go I get everything on my salad. To make things better they have some really great drink options that they change up on a regular basis. I'm a big fan of the Watermelon Mint juice. One thing that I struggle with at this place is the menu and process for ordering/creating your meal. After a few times going through the process I have a better idea how to handle it, but I can see where this would be confusing to first time visitors. The menus are not on big boards, but instead on a pamphlet that is not always in the best location, which is also not easily identifiable. The staff does an okay job explaining it to you, but If you add in the fact that people are waiting behind you, they seem rushed and you just feel like your annoying everyone with your lack of knowledge on the process. I know deep down that this process can be improved and I hope they'll make work to make it better. The interior design is cool and has a similar feel to a Chipotle with a industrial bushed steel and wood crossover look. Most of the seating is comfortable and they keep the place pretty clean. The overall ambiance is pleasant and I get a good vibe when I'm here. The Cava App is a great way to pay and make progress towards discounts and freebies, so make sure you download it and add your payment card to the app. I saved $3 on my first use of it, so free money is a win for me. Now here is a special place, and my favorite fast-casual-spot. This is the only one true place that's healthy, tasty, and is very affordable to eat on a regular basis. No, chipotle does not meet those requirements. The cheese, sour cream, and sodium actually packs a lot of fat and brings you closer to a stroke if you eat there too often. What Cava Mezze does here is you can actually pick a salad, with "super greens." What super greens is, is a combination of very healthy vegetables. Other places will use standard greens, like iceberg with has no nutrition value, or romaine lettuce, which has some, but isn't a "super green". Super green has mesculin salad, broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, and other stuff considered very healthy for you. To take these super greens and make them actually taste good, is very hard to do, they are generally a more bitter type vegetable. This place nails it on the head. With the spreads and sauces, all not cream-based or fatty mind you, make this meal very edible and very delicious. The meats are also really good (I got the spit-fire roasted gyro) and I came away feeling good. This place is not only tasty, but very healthy for you too. If only this place was just down my street, I would eat here several times a week. read more

Okay guys, I've completely changed my mind about this place. I came by for lunch again, and while this place was packed, the line moved quickly and smoothly. The customer service was much improved! I got a bowl with chicken, filled it up with 3 spreads (that's the limit) and many toppings and two sauces. It resulted in a wonderful combination of flavors, and all of the ingredients were made well today. The seasonings were well-balanced. I especially enjoyed the red pepper hummus! I suppose my last visit caught the Grill crew on an off day. This most recent visit was the total opposite. Other diners were happily eating their food. My friend got the braised beef, and he enjoyed it quite a bit. Bottom line: if you're looking for a well-sized meal in a casual atmosphere, try this place out.
