I had read a lot of positive feedback for CAVA so I decided to check out the place when I was in Encinitas for another event. At first I had difficulty locating the restaurant, but then I found the suite several doors down from Best Buy. The inside was very spacious, and the setup was like Chipotle as others had mentioned. The menu board instructions were to choose a base, dips + spreads (up to three), protein, toppings, and dressings in that particular order. I decided on a half green, half grain bowl as a base with baby spinach as the former and saffron basmati rice as the latter. The dips/spreads I chose were tzatziki, eggplant + red pepper dip, and roasted red pepper hummus. There was only one meatball left so the server gave me that along with grilled chicken for proteins. The remaining toppings I picked were kalamata olives, cabbage slaw, tomato + cucumber salad, diced cucumbers, and carrots + currants. My dressing on the side was a cup of the lemon herb tahini. For just over $10 after tax, the bowl was a refreshing medley of veggies and proteins. I used very little of the tahini dressing and saved it for home as the mixture already had plenty of flavor from the dips and spreads. I am glad to see that the CAVA franchise has expanded further south into the city limits of SD so that I won't have to travel so far to experience their offerings again. read more

This was my first time eating here and I loved it! I had already heard good things but I was really impressed. I got a build your own bowl and I added so many toppings plus chicken and it was reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The garlic dressing was a 10 out of 10 and the garlic pita was out of this world! The drinks were really good too, so many choices too, I got the blueberry lavender which was super refreshing. This place gets two stars because of service, and what there was of food, was not that great. it was good, but not good enough to put up with someone being obnoxious to me. The young man that was working at 7 PM this evening and serving the rice/greens and protein was incredibly rude. He gave me attitude, and did not want to explain or share the options that came with a 'build your own bowl. And it was not easy to build a bowl since a lot of the options were empty containers. This was my first time at cava and because of the service by server, it will be my last time at cava. When I asked the young man to explain the build your own bowl, he pointed to the sign. So when I asked for feta sauce, his ice cream scooper is hitting metal because the bin is empty, and he scrapes a partial scoop. When I said, I wanted a full scoop, he had the nerve to say he was going to charge extra if I wanted more. I asked how can you charge extra when you haven't served a full portion? Additionally, some of the protein bins were also empty. There was only chicken, vegetables and falafel. So I asked him, so more bins are empty and that's it, and he said yes, that's it. And when the next customer asked for steak, the kid told him there was no more. Fortunately, another employee doing something else leaned over and said, if he wants steak, it'll be ready in a few minutes. The man said yes, he would wait. I don't understand how someone could put this kid behind the counter. I opt to spend my money where food and service are enjoyable. Sorry Cava, you get a thumbs down. read more

Luckily I was able to communicate with cooperate as this location is by far the worst I've been to now. I've been coming since it opened and I can definitely say it's a MANAGEMENT problem now. This location has declined significantly. Food runs out wayyyy before closing and the customer service is awful. It you look at the last handful of reviews it's easy to see how bad it's been lately. The common areas are messy, tables are a mess, food is ran out, customer service is lackluster. Staff is bad, but management is awful not identifying these issues and fixing them. Hopefully they replace the manager of this location to someone who can lead the team better. We go to Cavas all over SoCal and this one disappoints the most. read more

My new favorite place to grab consistently delicious bowls and salads. I don't know how they do it but no matter how busy they are the staff is always smiling and efficient. The food is so good that my mouth starts watering when I pull up in the parking lot. The Greek salad and spicy lamb bowls are my favorite but everything I've had has been super yummy. I love CAVA. Been to many locations all over the country, and I'm even a CAVA stockholder. This location is extremely dirty. The floors, tables, trash bins, counters, and pretty much any surface you can see or touch are filthy. The bathroom looked like they hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The staff does not seem to care. It's so disappointing because it's so simple to keep your restaurant clean. This is squarely on whoever is managing this location. read more

Good tasting, good for you, healthy food for a reasonable price! Really can't beat it. I've been a huge fan of this chain since 5 years ago when I discovered their Irvine location. Was visiting some friends in North County and glad I found this location. The restaurant was very clean and modern with a huge open kitchen which is very nice. You order first and pick out all the ingredients that you want, and then you pay at the end. Very fast and efficient. The ingredients are very fresh and very simple. Mediterranean cuisine is considered one of the healthiest on the planet, and I'm so glad cava preserved the authenticity of the cuisine. Prices are very reasonable, food is delicious and you'll feel good after you eat here. I also absolutely love all the drinks they have here. Especially the hibiscus one which helps you digest. I love Cava but this experience was not the best. First, no lentils, spicy chicken, pita, or veggies available. Second, it's not that I care myself for different food selections crossing into each other- I wouldn't mind that I find a random chicken piece in my veggie bowl but, a vegetarian might not appreciate that. Tonight they were out of at least half the toppings and I'm standing here watch this gal "fake scoop" toppings into the bowl. girl, what are you doing, there's nothing on the spoon. Sometimes it looks like a tornado hit and there's a giant mess everywhere. There's generally a pretty long line and the young workers look completely overwhelmed. Then they charged me for two bowls and I just barely caught it. Hopefully that refund works itself out but I won't hold my breath. Good thing the food is bomb. after trying cava in Orange County i took my family here twice. The first time they messed up the order and the second time were just straight up out of ingredients for main meals and said they were not restocking despite the store being open for another 4 hours. Had my first Cava experience and it did not disappoint! I got the tahini caesar salad. It was well balanced, and the tahini Caesar was so tasty!
