CAVA - Mediterranean Near Me - Bridgewater, New Jersey

Tried CAVA for the first time last week. It is essentially a Mediterranean version of Chipotle if that makes sense. They have pitas, bowls, salads put together in an assembly line process with options for you to choose along the way. Very flavorful and for a quick serve restaurant...its a "healthy" option. Ingredients are fresh and they cut the avocado to order for each bowl/pita. I plan on it being one of my healthy quick serve options that i am adding to my list...My first visit was on a Sunday and although it was busy all the staff members were working hard to get orders completed....Unfortunately/Friday at 7pm today that was not my experience...There were about 15 patrons in line and staff looked limited but finally I am at the end of the assembly line and my bowls just needed to be covered with a lid and I needed to pay. Mind you with the wait and then my food being put together from the time I walked in the door until I was about to pay had been 15-17 mins.I dont know what their KPI/customer turnaround targets are but it feels long and essentially what has become the achilles heel of Starbucks drive thrus...waiting-inching up, -waiting-inching up...Ok so the lids were about to be put on my bowl when DANIEL (CAVA staff member) receives a phone call on the store portable phone...he walks away from the counter and he says "9pm" several times so I infer he was telling someone what time they closed...he is laughing with the person on the other end of the line as he hangs up the phone. He now turns his back to me again, and starts talking to another staff member who appears to be bagging and putting together mobile/online orders...So now they are laughing and pal'ing around...Eventually he comes back to counter with the "where were we" body language...now at this point multiple bowls are next to mine and it even took me a min to point out to him which ones were mind among the others. He asks me if I need anything else and I let him know i need the Crazy Feta dip and an order of the spicy pita chips and the regular pita chips...He rings me up and then places all the food in the bag. I check it at the counter and let him know the spicy chips are not there. He pushes the receipt button and then tells me "well I only charged you for one"...I reminded him that I requested two but he may have been distracted by the phone call or his side conversations with the young lady he works with and his co worker at the mobile order area...DANIEL just wasnt focused on the tasks at hand...SO he rings me up for the chips that I had ordered to begin with, and he hands me my change of a 20 dollar bill...he places it in my hands...Then he asks me to open my hands and then he recounts the money which I had the correct change for...all of this going on...just extending the wait and pay transaction for them...I asked Daniel if he was the mgr...He said no...I asked "who is the mgr" and he looks at the ceiling, the wall, other patrons, the counter and mumbles "Lilly"...So, Lilly or the Owner...if you have an opportunity to review customer feedback with the staff...please remind them that when its busy or during peak dinner hrs all the socializing, laughing, joking, chatting with the employee cleaning the griddle, or the mobile order staff, instead of completing orders and ringing up patrons should be avoided. Improves order accuracy and the overall customer experience and reputation for the location and brand. To top it off... After I asked for the mgr's name Daniel gave me the stare down as I walked out because, and I guessed right, he doesnt have the customer service skills to resist the impulse to say something snarky under his breath as i walked away so i looked back and he indeed was looking at me and mouthing something...and in those moments I decided I would chronicle my experience on Yelp. I dont know about you...but when i have a less than positive experience with servers or waiters or staff of a food establishment I patronize...the food just doesnt taste as good as it should. Something about the mood your in and the frustration that just turns the tastebuds off a little...The Braised lamb just didnt hit when I got home... As far as the food from my past experience and Mediterranean concept. 10/10. Customer service in general 6.5/10...my last experience was ok. THis one wasnt...the bowls have so many ingredients that putting a bowl or order together takes a little time...the process can use some efficiency improvement for sure...having distracted employees also not a plus... read more

We're regular customers and we do pick up every so often. My pick up order was so messed up- my 1/2 grains and greens bowl came with no rice. Did corn x2 and tomato/cucumber x2- def not. Kids meals only came with 1 small scoop or rice and 1 scoop of corn, even though we put in 2. No pitas or dressing included, even tho the printout says it's there. Not even forks! The place is so packed every time but they don't make enough and the quality is just going down. It's also not cheap, but if I order a dish, I expect it to be correct. The Mediterranean Chipotle is quite good. I appreciate the simplicity of the ingredients and the extensive variety that allows for mixing and matching. The ordering process is similar to Chipotle or Subway, where you choose your ingredients at the counter, which I find enjoyable. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. They offer a lot of sauces, which is great. Ninethless, the interior is somewhat disappointing--resembling a fast-food restaurant with cheap, hard tables, and you have to clear your own table. Cava, I want to really like your food and sometimes it's hit or miss with you. I have been here about 5 times. However, this last time I was highly disappointed with the little scoop of food you gave me in my bowl. I think a baby would've eaten more food than you put in that bowl. Especially for the price you charged me. My order was part of a group order and not only did you skimp out on my food. You also left a lot of things out that were ordered that were not in the bag once we got back to our office. This has happened at least twice when our group has ordered. Not cool. I know Cava is pretty popular and you guys are always crowded, but please try to do a little better with your servings and also make sure everything is in the bag before people come pick up their items to only find out their food is not there. Came in to meet with some friends on a Friday night. They had never tried Cava before, so they wanted to see what the hype was about. It wasn't too crowded when we walked in, but we saw the dinner rush start to pick up around 8PM, right before we ordered. After getting a brief overview of the menu, we were ready to order. I have been a Cava fan for some time, so I went for my usual custom order. The employee who helped start off our orders was pleasant. He made sure to clarify what we wanted and ask about additions/customizations. As we made our way down the line to build our orders, we had a few questions regarding dips/sauces. Most of the employees were helpful in answering. Once our orders were complete, we arrived at the register to pay. The employee here wasn't very friendly. I had asked about having the complementary mini pitas to our order, and she barely responded. I had also mentioned using my phone number for the Cava rewards on my app. Once again, she barely acknowledged what I said and mumbled to ask for a phone number. We all grabbed our orders and went to find a place to sit. There was a decent number of tables that were open. We found one to accommodate us; it was just a bit dirty. Thankfully, I had some Lysol wipes to get the crumbs off and make it clean for us to eat. I had went for a Build It Greens/Grains Bowl with Braised Lamb, Roasted Vegetables, and many toppings/dips/sauces. In terms of quality, this definitely met the standard I had expected. Ingredients were fresh, and flavors were vibrant. As usual, Cava's Garlic Dressing blended the flavors of the ingredients very well together. My friends who had tried Cava for the first time greatly enjoyed the food as well. Overall, this location was solid. I've had better and worse experiences. Staff did a decent job overall. The employee who started my bowl scoped the greens with tongs and I noticed she stared at a piece of the greens. Although it's a little on the pricey side, you pay for good quality ingredients and a fairly large portion size. (I usually end up using my bowl for two meals.) My go-to choice is the Grain Bowl with Harissa chicken ($1 extra). I enjoy spicy food so I choose the Harissa and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Spreads. I also love the Tahini Caesar Dressing and would definitely recommend trying one of their dressing options! Another huge plus is that you can get unlimited add-ons! And if you're indecisive, they also have the option of getting half and half of two meats. I absolutely love the food, but sometimes (as with most fast food restaurants) the service can be poor. I've never had a problem with the food being ready on time. (When I order online, it's usually ready for pick up in about 10-15 min.)
