The entrance to Cava
Jenna O.

Loved the Mediterranean food! Made us feel like we were back in Israel. It's nice to be able to eat something different. We both had bowls. Mine was the chicken and rice bowl. The pickled onions, tzyiki (sp) sauce, and fresh veggies were amazing. I also loved the fresh pita! They were very accommodating to our picky 5 year old!

Harissa avocado bowl

Good food. Better than Zoe's in my opinion. The Harissa avocado bowl was tasty, a little spicy and a lot of flavor. They could fill the bowl up a little more, especially for the price you pay for the food. A bit overpriced, but tasty, fresh food nonetheless. I'll probably come back to try some other dishes. The lunch line was out the door, so it might behoove you to go early for lunch.

I love Cava but this location needs some help. I went around 6:30pm and they were out of so much. No corn, no harissa chicken, no tzatziki, no falafel, no avacado. The workers weren't very personable either they barely spoke. The saffron rice had almost no color. Im sure it was regular rice. My food was overall pretty good but the service and lack of ingredient's is concerning.

Greek Chicken

My food was delivered. It was packaged with care. The Greek Chicken Pita was delicious, and large enough for lunch and dinner! I also had the Blueberry Lavender Drink. There was entirely too much lavender for my liking. I deluded it several times with lemonade, which made it tolerable. I haven't dined in yet, but I'll update when I do.

Build my own pita to-go

I've only been to this location twice and I can already attest to how incredibly worth it it is! I've been wanting a Cava to open in Baton Rouge for the longest time and I'm so glad it is finally here. I like to order my own bowl and sometimes build my own pita. This location seriously does not skimp on the toppings. I found that the Highland location near Blue Bayou did not fill the bowl up as much as I would've liked. All of their ingredients are fresh and they let you know when things are extra so that they don't add them without you knowing. The service is always super fast and friendly. I will not hesitate to go back again soon!

Delicious! Lots of tangy flavor. Very fresh & fast preparation. I ordered as is & didn't change anything from what's listed on the menu.

Any place that is known for their oysters will always get my vote, even when they opened during the height of COVID. They still managed to push along and became one of the city's most well-known seafood destinations. Fast forward to 2025 and it's now closed. While I'm disappointed, I can't say I'm surprised. The place went from being the new kid in town to looking dated in a short handful of years. The staff was always a mixed bag, with subpar service outpacing the occasional outstanding experiences. It was always so spacious in here but rarely full, that I never understood the need for the hostess to give my large groups of people a hard time about not making reservations. (#1) The oysters are and will always be the star of the show. I love a good raw oyster and they seemed to have a decent batch each time, however the charbroiled ones were the ones to get. They were buttery, a little messy, and heavily seasoned with lots of salty parmesan on top. It was sometimes the only worth ordering given how inconsistent the rest of the menu was. Some other go-tos were the seafood pasta, lobster mac, and even the occasional gator tacos but even those dishes had their bad days. I was actually pretty impressed with their ribeye, but was quite disappointed with the boudin balls, gumbo, and some of their fried shrimp. In addition to service snafus and inconsistent food, the prices were always a tough pill to swallow. I'm aware seafood will forever carry a premium price tag, but when other seafood places charge a lot less for better quality output, then it becomes a point of contention. While I do hope they find a reason to re-open in Baton Rouge, I think I'll stick to their original location in Metairie. I had the Honey Poulette pancakes, this is where we were disappointed. The pancakes were over done, black around the edges and lacked any flavor. The chicken was the best thing from our brunch. Husband had coffee, he got one cup and asked for more. His second cup was only half and told it was the last of the coffee in house. From what I could tell we were not the last people there.

Hubby had the grilled shrimp po boy with a side of potato salad. First off, the side dishes are huge. They were fresh and delicious. The red beans and rice were worth the stop. Hot temperature wise and just enough spice to be real cajun food. The potato was hot and fluffy and was gigantic. It was cooked all the way and soft, not like a lot of restaurants serve! The flavor of the po boy was delicious and fresh. The roll tasted fresh baked. Thank you, Rouge Rabbi, we hope to return If you have the chance, try it, you won't be sorry. The seating is cute, they have online ordering, and the prices are reasonable, $15-$20 per person.

I've driven down Essen multiple times but never knew about this place. It's a nice quaint, very much South Louisiana spot that serves breakfast and lunch. The staff were very kind and friendly. Now I didn't get a breakfast burrito this time, instead I got a breakfast bowl which was soooo good! Next time, I have to try the burrito and the French toast but also something from their lunch menu. If you are in the BR area and wanna try a local spot, check out Rouge Rabbit.

But it's a cuisine that…read morecomes to mind when I think of this city thanks to this spot along with the stellar reviews that accompany it. This is one of three Albasha locations in the southeast Louisiana area. Thank god this location is near our field office in Baton Rouge which is where I was assigned to in early October allowing me to dine at this spot for lunch. The dining area spacious with plenty of seating. It does get a lot of traffic during the weekday lunch hours; probably cause of the lunch specials that are offered which we took advantage of. The menu consists of your typical Mediterranean eats such as hummus, baba ganouj, stuffed grape leaves, spanakopita (spinach pie), chicken/beef schwarma, lamb shank, moussaka, and kabobs (just to name a few). Lunch specials involve plates which include a feta cheese salad, rice pilaf, and hummus that accompany the entrees. Ranging from $14-18, this is quite the steal, especially during times like these. The Lamb Shank lunch I ordered was delicious with plenty of food that I had to have a to-go box to bring the remainders with me. The chicken shwarma and vegetable platter were ordered by other parties who both loved them. And we also started with the fried cheese which is served in a bed of olive oil and spices with some cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives. Very tasty, especially with the vegetable garnishes. I need to get another assignment in Baton Rouge so I can come back here again!
