Is it terrific marketing or terrible planning to put MAD Greens in the same building as CAVA? I…read morefeel like the kind of people who are interested in a healthy bowl of nourishing food would be split not quite down the middle between both of these restaurants. Are they hoping the better-known Mediterranean bowl place will be so full they can catch their overflow? People in a rush might skip the line and try this less-known healthy bowl food restaurant instead? But I digress... I had tried CAVA four times or so and every time I saw MAD Greens and thought, Someday I'm going to try that place. Well, last Sunday was the day. I got to eat what I wanted because I was eating solo. I'm going all in on this trial run, I thought to myself, so I bought one salad for that day and ordered another to be my lunch the following day. I walked in and was the only customer in the restaurant. I was greeted warmly by the young man behind the counter, who called me queen and had no complaint about my asking for no tomatoes and the dressings on the side. I tried the Greek one and the sesame sriracha one. The place was clean enough and the employees seemed to be enjoying themselves, chatting and goofing off a reasonable amount. The bowls were great. I chose the Greek one first when I realized it had pita chips inside. It came with two dressings, the creamier of which was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Confession--I am a recovering picky eater and I hate cucumbers, but I love sneaking them into my body underneath delicious dressings and salty kalamatas. The second day I ate the sesame sriracha situation. It had tofu, which tbh I have never successfully eaten, and it was really good. It reminded me of the paneer in Indian food. That salad had edamame too, so I was definitely satiated and I'm guessing I got plenty of protein. Overall, I will definitely go back. CAVA has had some consistency problems for me, as well as some of my favorite offerings being limited-time or seasonal (isn't it the worst when restaurants lure you in with seasonal offerings you can't count on?!), so I'm glad to have had such a positive experience here and I'm hoping they will be consistently good.

However, I must say that MAD Greens makes some MAD GOOD salads. My go to is the spicy bacon bowl with boil eggs. I feel better about my life when I order this because I'm getting my greens in, getting my protein with the chicken, and I'm actually enjoying my rabbit food (aka salad). This is a must have for me. Coming from a non salad person ( I know... it's okay to judge me) I really enjoy their salads and their spicy bacon bowl makes me happy. Another food item that I love is their Mac and cheese. It's so tasty. I love it here and love their salads because the greens taste fresh. #madgoodness

We came by on a Saturday afternoon when it was starting to get busy -- fortunately we were able to snag a spot indoors. In terms of seating, the tables are probably best for smaller group sizes (2-4). Overall, the indoor space is bright, clean and refreshing. Pork Belly Banh Mi ($14.95, 4.5/5) - I'm a fan of ciabatta in general -- bonus since this one came panini pressed! - Good amount of pork belly - Cucumbers, daikon carrots, and jalapeño add a nice crunch/ kick to balance out the more creamy aioli sauces - Flavors were on point, just wish portion sizes were a bit larger All in all, definitely check out Mendocino Farms if you're in a sandwich mood! The ingredients are very fresh, and the prices are affordable. Looking forward to visiting again and trying other items on their menu.

Mendocino Farms always has such good, fresh, light sandwich options, so I was excited to try this one out. Parking is plentiful, and it's in a newer lot right next to a Snooze. Both feel like popular, high end fast casual chains popping up throughout Austin. Chimichurri Steak & Bacon Sandwich ($15.99, 6.5/10) - Portion size felt on the small side, after finishing the whole sandwich I was still hungry and could've easily eaten another half to feel full - Steak was relatively tender, thin sliced so it was easy to bite through - Chimichurri sauce was a bit more acidic than I'm used to, and the pickled veggies leaned acidic too, could've used something creamy to balance it all out - Bread was really good, and overall sandwich quality still felt high - Would've been nice to get a bag of chips included, given you're paying $15.99 for just the sandwich Overall, Mendocino Farms still brings high quality ingredients and good food. I've had another sandwich here in the past that I really enjoyed, so next time I'll probably switch it up and try something different. Good sign that the quality holds up across their different menu items.

I…read moredidn't realize just how many salads they offer, but I really appreciated that tofu is available as a protein option. What especially caught my attention--perfect for a cool winter evening in Texas--was their mushroom stew with a vegan miso base. We ordered cups of the vegan mushroom stew to start, along with one of the seasonal specials, the yam string fries, and a shared plate of grilled tofu. The mushroom stew was very umami-forward, filled with miso broth and a variety of mushrooms. While it was comforting, it felt like it needed a bit more seasoning--either spice or salt--to really elevate it. I was also expecting something thicker or creamier since it was labeled a "stew," but the base was quite runny and brothy with steamed mushrooms. The grilled tofu was decent, with a nice color on the outside, though it was soft and could have used more flavor. The yam string fries were almost comically thin--extremely shoestring. Dipping them into sauce was a challenge because they were so tiny, but it was still fun to eat them while chatting. What really stood out was the atmosphere. The dining area is comfy and cozy, and the colorful wall décor adds a lot of character. It's a welcoming, relaxed space right on Congress. Overall, Vinaigrette is a cozy Austin spot with casual yet slightly upscale vibes, offering healthy salad, soup, and sandwich options. If that's what you're looking for, it's definitely worth a visit.

Our server was friendly and prompt, easily able to speak about questions on the menu. We tried a few things: -My friend ordered a "shrub" drink and I guess we didn't realize that meant with vinegar so, she didn't like it. It was good - just bitter. -We ordered the -Poblano and Cheddar biscuits to start which were DELICIOUS -Avocado Toastada - my friend didn't love this but I did -Migas - very good and not something I can order usually in VA -Ricotta Toast - fresh and filling with tons of berries I liked the outdoor patio (when not 110 degrees in August) and the walk-up window to order pastries and drinks quickly. Chocolate chip pancake - their pancake is huge, fluffy, but crisp on the outside. It's delicious, but so filling.
