The girl with the orange hair who was running the line was extremely rude and made the entire experience feel very unwelcoming. I felt that I was treated differently because I am of a different race than her. When she was assisting me, she repeatedly rolled her eyes, sighed loudly when I asked for something else, and gave me angry looks. What made me feel even more uncomfortable was seeing her interact with someone of her own race. She was very kind, greeted them warmly, smiled, and had a completely different attitude. I understand that people can have bad days, but the difference in how I was treated compared to others made me feel excluded and discriminated against. The guy at the register, however, was very lively, friendly, and sweet, and the food itself was really yummy. Unfortunately, the way I was treated by the other employee overshadowed what could have been a great experience. Fast, casual build your bowl type of chain. Cava (formerly Zoe's Kitchen) is the same focus of Mediterranean food however the format is different. Personally I miss Zoe's. There was a feel of a restaurant and you could sit to enjoy your meal. The line at Cava was slow. The grains, greens, protein, dips, toppings and dressings are simple. There's nothing spectacular with the exception of eating something healthy. I wouldn't say fast because it took about 30 minutes with the line, prep and checking out. They were out of the balsamic date vinaigrette dressing too. I may get a bowl if I'm in the area but definitely have had better. read more

I frequent here pretty often. I will say I feel like the food and service go down at night vs during lunch time. The last few weeks I have been going anytime between 8-9 pm and each time I've gone they've run out of sauces (and wont make anymore) and the lemonade machines are broken down already. Mind you they don't close until 10. If you do want to get a lemonade they pour it out of these containers that they have sitting by the door. These is extremely unsanitary. This won't be one of my more extravagant reviews because, let's be real, it's Cava--and we all know the taste is consistently top-tier. That's never been the issue. The problem with the Akers Mill location lies in the lack of efficiency, portion inconsistency, and staff professionalism. First off, this location is constantly out of pita chips. Almost every time I visit, I'm told it'll be a five-minute wait to get some made. Now don't get me wrong, I love them fresh--but when I'm in a rush, that five-minute delay turns into an inconvenience. For a brand built around fast-casual service, this shouldn't be a recurring issue. Secondly, the portions here are noticeably lighter than at other locations. The moment you ask for more of anything, it's immediately considered "double." How about making my food like you'd make it for yourself instead of treating it like a chore? The stingy scoops and lack of care come across loud and clear. Most of my concerns stem from staff behavior, which I truly believe could be improved with stronger management oversight. For example, while checking out, the employee assisting me suddenly stopped in the middle of the transaction to allow another team member--Miss A.C.--to clock in. Not only is that wildly unprofessional, but it's also disruptive. Miss ma'am, showing up five minutes early is standard work etiquette, especially in a customer-facing role. That delay shouldn't come at the expense of a guest's time. And when I respectfully communicated that it was unprofessional, I was brushed off with, "No, it's fine." If it was fine, I wouldn't have said anything. Let's remember: the customer may not always be right, but we're rarely wrong when it comes to how we're treated. I love Cava! I rarely eat fast food and I'm not sure if Cava qualifies as fast food, but it's my #1 choice if I want to eat out and need something quick. Everything I've tried from their menu is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the harissa avocado bowl. Tonight I tried the falafel bowl and it was also really yummy. My work brings in lunch buffets on occasion and recently brought in Cava. It was the best! I loved having the option to add more of my favorite things, like pickled onions and hummus. This was my second time ever at a Cava, and although I enjoy the food, this location ain't it. Parking: There is a good number of free parking spots; however, during "rush hours" I can see those spots filling up quickly. There were a number of people picking up orders inside though, so may not have to wait too long for a spot. Food: The food is good! It's kind of like a Chipotle-style Mediterranean based restaurant. They have some preset bowls/pitas you can choose from, or you can build your own. I got a Harissa Avocado Bowl, but customized it to my liking. They also have desserts like cookies and brownies. Drinks: They have various lemonades and teas. I made a mixture with 1/2 Blueberry Lavender and 1/2 Classic Lemonade. They also have a soda fountain and various bottled/boxed juices and sodas. Vibe: There is plenty of seating available, both indoor and outdoor, so that's nice. Customer service is where it all went downhill. The individual taking my order was rude and abrupt. Even after informing her it was only my second time at a Cava and I was still figuring out how it worked, she just basically looked at me and was like, "So what do you want??". And at checkout, I was debating whether or not to get a bag, she very rudely said, "Do you want the bag or not?". I understand everyone has their off days, but it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident at this location. So yes, I recommend checking out Cava, just not this location. I'm actually really surprised this spot is only 2.5 stars ‍. This is probably my family and my favorite little healthy spot. I come here after training in Jiu Jitsu when I want a healthy post workout meal. I usually make my own bowl and love it every time. It's a Mediterranean take on MOES or CHIPOTLE. It had several tasty greens options, rice, a good variety of protein options and fixings. We have been here over 20 times and dined in maybe 2-3 times. You can dine in but it feels more like a grab and go vibe. I have noticed if you come later in the evening they run out of food and sauce options. I went to Cava for the first time with a friend after a morning of volunteering and I'm left conflicted on my thoughts. Here's why. Upon arrival, luckily I was able to walk in without a line but I wish there was one. Since I had never been to Cava before I didn't understand the menu nor knew how to order. Instead of the employee asking if I needed help or explaining the process. I was rudely rushed as if there was a line. I apologized and said sorry I have never been here before. So I asked for brown rice to start my bowl. She asked if I wanted any greens. I asked greens? And she looked me as if I was crazy. I scuffled my way through the entire process with no help from the employees. Both the person who waited on me and the cashier wasn't the friendliest at all. When my friend went to order after arriving, she experienced the same rude customer service. As for the food, the bowl I scuffled through and created was tasty. And I would love another (from a different location which isn't possible as another isn't conveniently located near me). Also, I love that they sold water bottles in a metal container which is easily recyclable (Metal can be recycled forever where plastic can't). Also the ambiance inside was mediocre. Nothing special. It was giving me upscale fast food looks. This rating was docked due to the poor customer service inside. read more

CAVA's model is not unlike SweetGreen or Salata... those places that serve healthy bowls (grains and / or greens as a base); except theirs has a much more Mediterranean flair. So we know the bowls are delicious. NOW: Product availability S U C K S!!!!! And it's 'consistent' from location to location. Meaning: on any given evening, pass, like 4pm, they could be out of MANY items (proteins, vegetables, types of hummus, etc.). I take GREAT issue with this considering they're OPEN 'TIL 10 or 11pm. Ordered doordash with my friends. Not only did it take nearly seven years (50 minutes) after they said it would only take 28, BUT the order was all strange. There was no forks, which is interesting cause you would assume that when you get takeout from doordash things like that would be included but okay thats fine! The which customer put her hand up to him and I'm still talking. So I shut up until Mrs. shhh still talking left. then completed the dressing order which he prompt ignored or forgot? I need two dressings, and he said we don't have that. ???? he don't have that or them? He wasn't amused with my clarification. He pointed to a list on the case, and said we have all that except for one of the two that I named before. Now I'm completely confused I don't know which one he has or doesn't so I just pick one. instead of putting it on the side like I asked in case I don't like it, he sprays it all over my $15 salad. I had to be dressing on my salad, his credit this time, he listened and put them on the side. And then asked if I had a pita that came with my meal, and he said yes. And literally began ringing up the next customer. I could see that he had a bowl of pitas behind the register so I inquired is that them? His silent counterpart said they're coming up in a minute., five minutes later, I was handed to Pitas in a bag. I'll be honest I haven't even tasted it. It may very well be the most amazing salad * I've ever ever had in my life but I'd rather get a root canal, then go back in there and deal with that shit show. *It was not. Entered on a Saturday evening about 730pm and didn't get waited on until 804pm. Seemingly there was only four people working the lack of enthusiasm or desire to speed the line up just wasn't there. Also the guy that was preparing the salad was scooping everything from the bottom of the bin and when spending upwards of $20 on a salad I want freshness not what's scrapped out the bottom of the bowl. I've had bowls with lamb meatballs, harissa chicken & the shredded marinated lamb ... OMG all are delicious and juicy! I visited this location twice for lunch last week. I've never had cava before but decided to give it a shot. For starters the location is not easy to find using Apple Maps. It took me around in circles twice. The cava building is not big and they also don't have a big sign like the rest of the restaurants in the area. The Cava employees were actually pretty attentive and nice. I have no complaints from either visits when it comes to service. The second day what appears to be a manager was on duty and I was so impressed with his customer service!! He definitely knew what he was doing. I ordered online the second day and I was just a little disappointed by the amount of food I got. It was VERY small compared to what I got the day before ordering in person. I ordered the exact same thing both days. I felt that this was a little deceptive because although I ordered my food to be in and out, I didn't get to see my order before i left. Cava offers great, healthy food options, but unfortunately, the service here is extremely unprofessional and rude, particularly to new customers. One of the women working with the cold toppings displayed such blatant disrespect, her tone was harsh and condescending, and her facial expressions made it clear she couldn't have cared less about giving us a very unpleasant experience. She put the incorrect ingredients that I asked for, and I was so uncomfortable with her attitude that I chose to let it pass, just so we could keep moving. It felt like she hated us for simply existing. While I understand that anyone can have a bad day, this went far beyond that--it was uncomfortable and downright disrespectful. To make matters worse, it seemed as if the frustration was specifically aimed at us being the only non-Black (Asian) customers in line. Any time of the day you go, any day of the week, there are at least 2 people waiting off to the side for pick up orders that are already 10 minutes delayed, and the line is at least 15 people with more constantly walking in. The floor and tables are constantly dirty and sticky and don't ever count on there being napkins or silverware. There are so many other wonderful locations. Unfortunately, if you have to go inside then you get the regrettable pleasure of meeting the staff. Not sure who does their training, but I highly recommend revamping the program. I give the food itself 5 stars, I loved the Harissa Avocado bowl! It was tasty & the cucumber mint lime drink was soo good, definitely recommend getting it. However, I was disappointed with my portion size. My sister & I both made an online pick up order & we got the same bowl, yet mine had significantly less than hers & she immediately pointed it out. I checked the reviews & pictures posted of different bowls & I was definitely played with how little food I was given. I read reviews that they're not always stocked on ingredients & this seemed true. I was missing a few items from my bowl but they didn't bother letting me know or asking if I wanted to replace it with anything else.
