Unfortunately, there aren't enough fast food joints with a focus on fresh salads but lucky for me, Doc Green's was right on my pathway for the day. Located in a huge plaza in Smyrna, Doc Green's is a salad lovers dream. I can't believe this was my first visit! The restaurant itself is narrow but long, offering plenty of seating in the back of the place, as well as the entryway. Doc Green's is actually paired with another restaurant it seems, but I was focused on the salad. They have some recommended combos but you can also create your own with a wide array of toppings. I was in heaven looking at all of the fresh veggies, proteins and dressings available. I decided to create my own and just went wild. I was super bummed because I ended up forgetting some favorites (like avocado) because I didn't see/notice them on the cold bar. I chose my dressings, had it mixed up and then checked out. I opted for a fountain drink and unfortunately, the lemonade was toooooo sweet. But that was the only downside because my salad was wonderful!! Everything was fresh, the portions were generous and I felt like I got my money's worth. I'm always in the Akers Mill plaza buying things I don't need so I can't wait to grab another salad at Doc Green's when I'm in the neighborhood!

I contemplated grabbing an energy drink or coffee, but when I realized that I was just steps away from Kwench. Figuring that a fresh juice or smoothie would be a much better, (and healthier!) choice. Kwench is located in a small plaza that also includes a Goodwill, Kroger and a few other shops. The parking lot isn't huge, but there's always a free spot to grab. Kwench stands out with their green interior walls and colorful signs adorned with pictures of fresh fruits, it's difficult to walk past. When I walked in, the store was empty besides a guy behind the counter that I believe to be the owner. There were a number of tables and chairs, signs that explain the healthy elements to the produce available for guest orders and healthy videos playing on the mounted tv. Very chill, very colorful! The gentleman behind the counter was kind and attentive, and in such a great mood, it lifted my own spirits! The menu is filled with raw smoothie, juices and even acai bowls. I opted for the 'old fashioned' smoothie and, WHEW. It was soooo good, so refreshing! My smoothie was prepared right in front of me and ready in minutes, it was such a delicious, healthy start to my day. I can't wait to go back!

The server walked by twice after I asked, but just kept forgetting. She did apologize after the 2nd time & asked if I still wanted it. Ordering through their website was easy and the food arrived surprisingly fast, which immediately lowered my blood pressure. We ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl and the beef MeatBowl. Portions were generous, especially the protein. One came over steamed-fried rice, the other over noodles, and both were flavorful and satisfying without feeling heavy. Thanks to them I managed to practice yoga, eat a proper meal, and still show up to my client session as a functioning human being instead of a travel zombie. Good food, efficient service, and exactly what we needed at that moment. Sometimes a restaurant doesn't just feed you, it rescues your evening.

You're going to find that everything is made to order. So nothing just sitting around. The sandwiches are what I'd call burritos in a bun. Wrapped in foil and then paper. We were warned to keep the foil on... And with good reason! These are not sit in the car and eat sandwiches. They're moist... they're juicy and DELICIOUS! Now, I got the one called the Heat. It was not overly spicy but had a good level of heat. I was told if you like it spicy, just ask for hot sauce. I'm kinda torn by that because the general flavor of the sandwich is really good and wouldn't want to cover that up. The Combo comes with thick potato wedges. They were good and neither of us were able to finish all of them. They have some side dipping sauces I want to try next time. We opted to dine in. The dining room is a bit small and standard. There are only about 4 or 5 tables. But, it's clean (spotless clean) and does the trick. I imagine if it's busy it can get quite full. Honestly... this style of food is pretty unique to the Metro. Once it was ready, I was given shoyu and yum yum sauce to accompany it. When I finally had the chance to eat my bowl, I was extremely satisfied. The flavors were bold and flavorful, and everything tasted fresh. It was so good that I told my husband about it, and he grabbed one for dinner. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and look forward to trying it again. I hope you all do not change anything because it is perfectly made.
