Came in here last night, and was extremely impressed with everything, from being greeted in and out with smiles all over the restaurant. Jessica G. took very good care of my family and surprised my daughter with a birthday song (cattlemens style) got a hat and ice-cream with it as well. Also Gabe who was always checking in to see if we needed anymore refills also gave us boxes because it was so much food we had to take some home. I will definitely be back for my birthday! read more

I had a very ugly experience. When I showed up on a Thursday so wasn't too busy, bar area was empty so my party of four sat a a table. Service was awful wasn't greeted and I had to wave server down after 15 min of sitting there. She came over and took our drink order and we asked if we can see menus, another15-18 mins go by with out being provided a menu and hadn't seen our server in awhile, I walked to front check in desk and asked to see manager and went back to my table to wait and he never came after 5 min I saw manager walking around and waved him down. He asked if we were okay and I responded no we have been here for over 40 min and have been provided a menu. After a few moments they gave us menus and finally our drinks we order appetizers and our dinners when they finally brought our appetizers and salad we were going with flow and just felt it was a slow start and was trying to enjoy the night. But we sat there over 1 hour and 20 mins with out our dinner being brought out. And our server no where to be seen, I walked back up to the front desk to speak to manager to my surprise I saw 5 employees around the desk socializing I was pissed so I canceled my food and I asked to just bill me for the appetizers and drinks and I was leaving a manager finally came out and said he will fix it but by that time I was no longer staying I walked in at 8:15 and it was now 9:55 and food never made it to our table. Manager asked if we wanted it to go for free but I was not happy with the service and refused the food I went there to have a nice dinner and my plans where not to pick food to go.. I was not charged for food but it was UGLY experience.. And I don't like the fact that I was taken off of yelp this is the second time I have to post this read more

I had came into Cattlemens for dinner last night and was already impressed by how quickly I was seated at my table, especially for it being a busy Friday night. My server, Jessica Gomez was on top of things when it came to getting me everything I asked for. She constantly came to my table to asked how I was doing and to see if I needed anything. read more

Had the filet mignon and it wasn't all great. Temperature was met but no flavor. The mash potatoes was good though. I wasn't a fan of the sourdough bread or the salad. Not my go-to steakhouse. But hey, everyone has their own taste so this just might be yours. Give it a try still. read more

SO, I grew up in Selma. I've been to Cattlemens on several occasions, but this last time I realized how much their food is lacking. I moved to San Diego for three years, experienced great restaurants, and moving back to the Valley had a certain, damper if you will, when it came to our selection of food. We're big foodies and love trying new places. Well, Friday evening we were just really in the mood for a good steak, and were in Fowler at the high school football game. I suggested Cattlemens because A: It was on our way home and B: From my younger years, I remembered it to be pretty good. Boy, was I mistaken. The only thing good about it was our waitress, who was great at apologizing. It didn't take us long to be seated (about 15 minutes) they weren't that busy. It took our waitress 20 minutes to take our DRINK order. After about 35 minutes, we GOT our drinks and placed our dinner order. By this time, I already wanted to get up and leave (which we should have), but we didn't. Our waitress comes back 10 minutes later and tells us that "the kitchen staff lost your ticket and I don't remember what you had ordered." Effing wonderful. We give her out order and ask her how long it will be because at this point we now have to hurry, she goes and comes back saying it will take 5 minutes and that they are putting a rush on our order. Again, very apologetic. It takes up 15 MORE minutes to get our meals, and my steak was undercooked. The only saving grace at the end of the evening was that the manager (after offering us dessert that we didn't have time for) took a portion of our bill off. Tahoe Joe's is much better, next time I want a steak I'll just make the trip to Visalia. read more

Terrible wait times. Sirloin was tuff and service inattentive. Had to flag another waiter down to get refills. Not a great place for a date and have come here over the years from out of town. Better steak places in Fresno. read more

Worse steak in the West. My family has dined here for many yrs. Never have we has such a bad experience. Wait time to be seated for our reservation of 6 was 45 min! Once seated wait staff was rude and not very friendly like in a bad mood or stressed out. Once finally seated, I always order the ribeye steak its my favorite. I like mine med rare. The food took another 45 min to get to our table. I had to send it back though two times and my husband, sons as well. Each time the temps of the steaks were either very under or over cooked. All the sides were the same either over cooked or cold as ice. Seemed like they couldn't cook to save there lives that night. We finally gave up and asked to get it all boxed. My husband asked the waitress what has changed recently because its a huge difference from our last visit. She let us know that Ruben there head chef for over the yrs is no longer with the company. The GM came to the table apologized for our very bad experience, explained there cooks are in training and comped most of the bill. Don't think we'll be back though till they can get a respectable chef back in there again. read more

A birthday dinner for 4 that never happened. We waited about 45 minutes for a table which we expected. Once we got to table our order was taken and they brought us bread. No drinks were given till about 20 minutes later. We waited about 45 minutes at that point the waitress assured our order would be coming. An hour has past and nothing so the waitress said the GM will come and speak to us which also never happened. So we decided to leave the waitress apologized and offered again the manager at this point were so done with this visit over an hour and a half ago. Im sure our tab would have been well over $150 for the night so it's their loss which I'm sure the business they have it wouldn't be missed. This whole experience was a waste of time and on a special occasion. Very disappointed in this establishment and will never return. I will continue to give my business to our local steak houses here in Fresno. This took place the evening of 1/24/20. read more

I drive 25 minutes to eat at this restaurant and every time I do I wonder why. The food here is horrible. Even though I have had countless bad experiences here I will stick to just commenting on my latest visit. I against my better judgement decided to give this place another shot because even though the steakhouses in Fresno are great I wanted a change of atmosphere. So upon arriving we are told it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait, after 20 or so minutes we asked the hostess where we were at in line and she told us it would be another 10 or 15 minutes. Once sat things seemed to be going well. The waitress was nice and had a great personality. However I waited over 20 minutes for a refill on my drink when one of the male servers in the area took my drink to refill it and never returned. I finally had to ask my server which took another 10 minutes before I got it. Then our food came, my potato which I ordered with no green onions had onions, and my 10 oz steak (which was quite small, which I commented on and was told it was correct) was half fat. I told the waitress and instead of taking it back she told me she would have the cook manager come speak to me. After a while she came back and took the steak to have them correct it. Still no manager had come to talk to me. Once she returned with the new steak which still had a considerable amount of fat on it for a sirloin, I ate some and waited for the manager. The steak was tough, lacked flavor, but was cooked rare as I ordered. We finally had to ask for the manager and when he came I realized how pointless it was to say anything. He was rude and condescending. He told me he had never had anyone complain about the seasoning or any of his steaks. He said maybe the problem is I am just too picky! I couldn't believe it, I was so offended and even though he tried to act as if it was a joke I still felt that it was inappropriate. He never once apologized. He also told me if I came back he would bring me out several cuts of steak and let me choose so that way I wouldn't be satisfied and couldn't complain which I also felt was inappropriate because I felt like he was saying it was my fault. After all of this I still decided to wait to write my review for over two weeks because I decided to email corporate and see if they were willing to apologize and show they care, but here we are, they haven't even contacted me. Clearly this restaurant doesn't care for their customers. I Won't be returning. read more

I was very disappointed with my steak and service at this location. I have to be fair on the service, was with group of twenty. I ordered the rustler rib-eye a 14oz rare advertised as having the most marbling. It was rare and tasted great, but had a line of gristle on the right and left side. I tried with little success to cut the steak with my really dull steak knife, a waiter saw me, and asked if he could get me something, I told him that I had the toughest steak ever, he asked if I wanted a new one, I said yes. In about 30 minutes he bought me a new steak, cooked medium! The manager came by and asked if everything was good, I showed him the steak was a medium and told him it was supposed to be a rare, he told me that he would personally cook another, I said Ok. To no avail, he, brought me another gristle filled steak! They did not charge me for the attempt, but I wasted over two hours, and I left with my group, not sure if the manager got the news that the third steak was also a failure. They brought the salad without any dressing, waiting for 25 minutes, for the dressings. Not well managed! No charges for the steak. Other complaints about tough steaks, from group, had the sirloin. read more

Took my family of seven to Cattlemen's on a Wednesday evening for my daughter's birthday. I've been here a couple of times before without incident, but this time was dramatically different. First, I almost did not make a reservation, but, after reading recent reviews on extremely long waits, I'm glad I did. It was extremely busy for a Wednesday evening. When I called to see if I needed one, I confirmed 6:15 p.m., but when we arrived, they had us down for 6:30. Even with a reservation, we were not seated until after 7:00 p.m. We were, however, offered the opportunity to wait in the bar until our table was ready. I will preface the remainder of my review with the fact that the food is very, very good. It's worth going here for the food, but last night, the service just left so much to be desired. First, our waiter arrived looking rather disheveled. That is a polite way of saying his shirt was half untucked, his clothes were wrinkled and sweat was POURING off of him. I'm sorry and I try very hard not to be judgmental of others, HOWEVER if you are serving food to me with sweat beading on your forehead and dripping off of your face, I really can't eat. I just can't. This is probably not the first time the server has experienced this issue, so I believe he should have taken steps to minimize or correct this (more water, better anti-perspirant, wipe your face between tables or something, I don't know) He took no such steps. I thought that perhaps it was very early in his serving career, because he was trying way too hard to "make friends" with everyone at the table. (I later learned that this particular server has been with Cattlemen's for approximately four years.) He had to repeat orders back several times to make sure he got them correct (which, I suppose, is better than it coming to the table wrong) and just couldn't seem to coordinate with the other servers when it came to sharing the physical space between tables. He was always sort of spinning around and moving around like he didn't quite know where he was supposed to be. We went to dinner fairly early in the evening and they were out of almost everything we tried to order. We started with a sampler appetizer platter and they were out of mozzarella "moons," which was fine, but I felt we should have been given the opportunity to decline that order, rather than our server unilaterally deciding to replace the "moons" with more French fries. Essentially, we were down to chicken strips and fried onions for around $14.00. He should have let us know, and did not. In our party, we had a two year old. She's pretty well-behaved for her age, but her table manners are not yet refined, so we asked for her drink in a kid-friendly cup, which they were also out of. The manager came and offered the baby a pineapple juice (as opposed to chocolate milk), which, he claimed, came in its own bottle. (Turns out this "pineapple juice" was a bottle of Martinelli's apple juice, which did come in its own bottle, but was not anymore spillproof than the glass of chocolate milk. In hindsight, we should have brought our own "sippy cup," but we didn't have one with us. As I said, the food was really quite good - one of the best burgers I've ever had. My boyfriend said that his steak was excellent. But, we wound up taking nearly all of our food home, because we just couldn't eat after seeing our sweaty server set it all in front of us and it became far less appealing. At a cost of $195.00 for dinner and drinks for seven, I wish I could say I enjoyed this experience far more than I did. The day after this dining experience, I contacted the restaurant to express my dissatisfaction with last night's service and, during that very brief phone conversation, I was put on hold twice, then very rudely cut off and informed that the "GM will call me tomorrow, just give me your phone number." I stated that I was not looking to "get anything" out of this, but that I thought it was only fair to let the management know that, if I had found it so displeasing, perhaps others might as well and that something should be done to correct the situation. Bottom line was that the food was very good, but no one really was interested in eating it in the constant presence of our Super Sweaty Server. read more

Went for the first time in June 12, for my bday. No problems reserving seating for 15 people. We were sat in the back which was fine as it fit all of us and it seemed that we had a server all to ourselves. Nic was amazing! He was super friendly, and very quick and attentive! He even had to bus other tables that were near us because the bus person was no where to be found, so he did double duty! The food was delicious, the appetizers and unlimited salad and bread were awesome! The steak and shrimp was soooo tasty! My family and I left very happy and will be returning again, and asking for Nic! read more

Heard lots of good things about this restaurant, so I decided to come check it out after a long day, and I must say it was one of the best decisions I made. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and a big thanks to the host who sat me with the best server (Jess G) because she was on point with everything and extremely nice, her recommendation of the New York and shrimp was seriously the best! It was all so good the warm sour dough bread, the fresh salad and the piece of cheesecake with strawberries ended my night here great! I never had to ask for a refill of soda or more bread, it seemed like she was there to service me alone even though I know she had other tables to attend to. Now I definitely see why people love it here! I WILL ask for Jessica again she was great and so nice! She made sure I had everything I needed and just made my night so much better than before I walked in. I will definitely come to Cattlemens again because of her great service. It was also nice to have great service from other waitresses that made sure I had everything I needed when she was working at other tables. read more

The Calamari were the size and shape of pony beads, the rack of lamb was torched black with burned smell, and the bones holding the meat cracked to dust upon holding them. Shrimps were hard like senko fishing lures that were left open. The beef ribs were served cold with dried meat. The steaks were overcooked with sloppy, loose mutilated meat hanging on. The sourdough bread was excellent, but at $30 a loaf, please save yourselves the trip and disappointment to this place. read more

This is one of my favorite steak restaurant in the region! From the moment we sat down we had an amazing experience in the midst of being there on Valentines weekend. We were never rushed and our food was at our table in a timely manner. Thank you so much Gesica with a "G" for giving us such amazing service. First off, before my most recent visit I had believed that cattlemen's restaurant was a top notch restaurant, however; my opinion has changed greatly recently. Recently on my fathers birthday we had a party of about 7 and checked in with the hostess and she gave us about a 45min to 1 hour wait. My family and I were fine with it, we went in after an hour of waiting outside and asked and she said it wouldn't be much longer. People upon more people came pouring into the popular restaurant and were seated before us and the hostess proceeds to tell us (mind you this is after about waiting almost 2 hours) that a table has been at their largest table for 3 hours and she couldn't do anything for us. We even offered to separate out party because at this point we were just frustrated and hungry. She proceeded to say she didn't have any open tables for us so after waiting two whole hours we decided to leave the restaurant. To make matters worse it was my dads birthday dinner, and we normally don't get to go to restaurants with my entire family anymore so being able to go to Cattlemen's was a treat. We were excited to be eating food at the popular restaurant people always had nice things to say about but after this it really makes you wonder how many other people have had the same experience. After waiting 2+ hours we decided to go to the Me N Eds nearby the restaurant in Selma. The hostess was completely rude to us, unhelpful and didn't manage situation well in anyway shape or form. I just wish the hostess could have handled the situation better and treated us with respect, we waited our time and the least she could do is try and figure out how to seat us after waiting for so long. If I could rate this restaurant at a zero I would, I will never be visiting again - not after being treated like that. I wish I could have gotten the name of the hostess to contact the restaurant. read more

Normally, my husband and I love this place. Tonight however was not a good night. Every place has its off nights so it still gets three stars. My steak was burned and tough. The appetizer we had, the mozzarella moons were over cooked to the point of being burned. My husband's steak was also burned and tough. We were also told our take out order would be ready but it also ended up being approximately 30 mins past when were told to expect it and we were never given any explanation of the delay either. Overall not a great way to start our weekend. read more

They took forever to seat us and we had a reservation. Took forever to take our order and get our food. and there was no one hardly there. Then they forgot one persons order completely and tried blaming it on us, and got one order completely wrong. We talked to the manager and all they did was give us $5 coupons for the next time we go in, well we won't be using those. We used to go there all the time, but we won't be back. With prices like they have, the service and the food better be great! read more

If I give a zero I would. Plain steak with the worst service ever. I could make a better steak with no seasoning. If you want good service good luck cause our server was babbling away with another customer and didn't care about any of his other tables. Management didn't care about my complaint. I was hoping the food be better than the service but I was wrong. I will never come back to this shit hole. My guess is that the only reason it's still in business is because it's the only steak resteraunts around. If I were you, I go to taco bell and get better steak and better service. Good luck if you do go cause you'll end up wasting 2 hours of life just like me. read more

I have been a frequent visitor to this establishment for over 20 years. I generally visit with guests from out of town which was the case on 01-29-17. I had visitors from Texas as well as family from Clovis. I made reservations well in advance (3 days) & even called to confirm. Our reservation was for 07:00pm. We arrived at 06:45pm & was told by the hostess our table would be ready in "a few minutes". At 07:10 I asked when we would be seated.. the hostess said they were preparing our table & we should be called shortly. Another 20 minutes elapsed with no call in sight. Meanwhile other large parties that arrived after we did were seated. I asked again & this time the hostess simply said it would be soon. After another 10 minutes while watching other parties being seated I informed the hostess we would be leaving. All I got from her was a smug "ok". No apology whatsoever. We ended up going to Dennys who provided us with some great hospitality..... I will be taking my $200.00 + meal tab to other establishments in the future..... read more

This steakhouse is a wonderful restaurant all around! The bread is addicting.... try to save room for the rest of the food! The salad is cold and the in house ranch is really, really good. I had the filet mignon and it was so tender I could cut it with my fork. The twice baked potato is seasoned just right! For dessert I had the carrot cake and I must say it is the best carrot cake I have ever had that wasn't baked at home. It's moist and has the perfect texture and no raisins! The food is delicious, but the main reason I wanted to yelp about this place is because of the hospitality. Shannon was our waitress and she was incredible. She had wonderful recommendations about the food and somehow knew that I would just love the Moscow mule. (The drink did take a while to come, but I know the place was busy). I was pleased to see the manager (David?) visiting with customers. About four different employees thanked us on our way out! It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to coming back. read more
