OMG! We ordered catfish from this place a couple of days ago, I was craving it. I don't even like seafood that much, but have learned to love catfish, if cooked right, this place is the BEST!! I loved just about everything that I ordered. I had fried catfish, red beans and rice, green beans, and chicken and sausage gumbo (really good gumbo)!! Amazing taste! All of it! Unfortunately there was nothing good about anything I ordered. The "jumbo" shrimp were definitely not jumbo. The macaroni & cheese lacked cheese of any sort & the noodles were hard penne pasta noodles. The banana pudding had 6 cookies & six small pieces of banana in the liquid pudding that poured out of the container when I opened it. The tartar sauce didn't remotely taste like tartar sauce; it was lumpy, spicy something, I have no idea what. The potato salad was chunks of potatoes in some sort of mayo mixture. I have visited this place twice in a week. On my first visit (Saturday) I called in and ordered the Catfish Snack meal, gumbo and shrimp etouffee. The catfish was phenomenal! Wish I ordered the 5pc meal instead. Really thick crunchy coating that worked perfectly with their house spicy tarter. The taste was instantly addicting. The gumbo wasn't great but still good considering the only meats were chicken and sausage and there was a lot of flavor. The etouffee on the other hand was horrible. I can't even lie. It was incredibly thick, clumpy, too much flour or something... and it lacked flavor. It was a poor attempt of New Orleans style etouffee and they really need to go back to the drawing board on the recipe and presentation. The dirty rice didn't help at all. It taste like something out of a box. Even after this I still planned on returning for that crunchy catfish and skipping the sides. Fast forward to today (Monday). I ordered the Catfish and Shrimp combo online. Pick up time said 30 minutes but upon arriving the Manager said its closer to 20 minutes. Immediately upon opening the box I'm skeptical and lowkey pissed. The catfish today is totally different in appearance, texture and consequently flavor than two days ago. There is no crunch to this catfish what so ever and that's what I was expecting based on my first visit so yes I am disappointed in their lack of consistency. There is more of a coating on this like more flour was used in the batter. I don't think I'll be visiting again until I feel Catfish Station can be consistent with their catfish. They should get all their cooks together and revisit the process/techniques that are standard to their operation. read more

I love the ambiance of thus place it reminds me of a La hole in the wall. I really enjoy the fried crawfish pies. I've also had the chicken tenders with the red beans and rice . I liked the tenders as they were cooked perfectly and a large portion. The red brands and rice are ok at best. We've also thoroughly enjoyed the boudin balls, the grits for the shrimp and grits left a lot to be desired. I also enjoy that they usually remember me when i come. My catfish and shrimp meal never had a chance. I'm not very fond of fried food, but I was craving some this evening and decided to use UberEATS to order some grub. I ordered catfish and shrimp with cheese grits as a side, I got my daughter the pasta with shrimp, and my bestie ate some chicken tenders. The staff was kind enough to call and let me know they were out of cheese grits and asked if I wanted to wait 10 minutes for them or get another side. There's a Yelp pic on here of the cheese grits and after seeing it, i would have waited 45 minutes if I needed to. When my food was delivered, I opened the bag and got as excited as a kid on Christmas morning when I saw my grits. I seriously had already forgotten that I had ordered fish and shrimp with it lol I never liked grits much growing up, but I've discovered shrimp and grits in the past few years, so I'm always curious to see how different grits dishes taste at different restaurants. Let me say that the cheese grits are good enough to make you get a divorce and just live with grits for the rest of your life. Oh. My. Gosh. My tastebuds were in Heaven! My fish and shrimp were perfectly fried and the hush puppies were better than any other hush puppies I have tasted in my life. I tried this restaurant today. There was no wait, and only one elderly couple inside eating. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered one shrimp etouffee with hush puppies and one order of blackened catfish and fries. Both came with white rice. The catfish was delicious, perfectly cooked, so were the hush puppies. The shrimp was decent. Unfortunately the roux for the etouffee was a different story. I could tell immediately by the color that it have a subdued flavor, but it was just bland. Also the white rice for both dishes was a bit undercooked, resulting in a few grains in each mouthful that were hard. So this was my first time going to the restaurant and it was a great experience! Walked in and was immediately greeted. I went around 3pm on a Sunday and it was empty. I ordered immediately though (catfish snack pack - 3 catfish on a bed of fries with a hush puppy). There were people waiting for food in there. They also closed early and would not let in a customer that came 30ish min before closing, telling him that they closed early. It's not like they were super busy but they seemed to just not care. We felt like we had to leave after all that, they really rushed us. Yet took forever to make our food. So far I have tried the grilled and fried fish tacos as well as shrimp po boy. Everything was delicious. Besides great seafood, sauces, and breading, oddly enough their normal French fries were also better than most. Sort of like curly fries texture and more tasty without more salt. I wish we had gone there more often when we lived 1 min away but it is still worth the 10-15 min drive. Only problem I saw was that there is a limited number of seats and they seemed packed both times I've been. Granted both times were at Friday at lunchtime during Lent. read more

This was my 1st time eating here. I got the food to go. I ordered the 1ib catfish meal w/a side of mac n cheese as well as a small order of dirty rice and a crawfish pie. My total was $25 dollars and some change. The catfish was fried perfect and it was delicious. The mac n cheese and the dirty rice did not have a lot of flavor to me. I told my husband I was in the mood for fried fish and shrimp. I normally would drive to Southeast Houston to TP Seafood but wanted to stay closer to home, since I live in Katy. I knew when we entered and there was no greeting, that perhaps we should have left. But I just chalked it up to the youthful appearance of the young lady at the register. So I review the menu, ask the question that I had, and placed my order. So the young lady said the total was $16.20, so I gave her $20.20. She had a strange look on her face so I asked if I had heard her correctly. She said that actually it was $16.27, so I gave her seven cents more. Well when the she closes it out and the receipt prints, it was actually $16.23. So she hands me the receipt and change of $3.03. I informed her of the total and told her she was supposed to give me $4.04 back, she looked so confused. She gave me another dollar and I just left it alone because she looked totally dumbfounded. I ordered the combination basket for $14.99. The description was 4 fish, 4 jumbo shrimp, a side and a hush puppy. While I waited, I remembered my friend suggested I try the crawfish empanada. So I ordered it and used my debit card, with no problems. The empanada was ready before the combination basket. After a bit of a wait, the combination basket was ready. I opened that container and just shook my head. My husband asked to see it and he too shook his head. I foolishly thought I would get fish fillets but these medium sized fish nuggets (I say medium because they are larger than nuggets but not fillets) were a disappointment!!! I am an adult, why can't I have an adult sized fillet?!!! So I immediately was upset as we drove home. I got home and tasted the fish and shrimp. There was absolutely no taste, no seasoning!! After adding ketchup and tartar sauce, I was able to finish it. The cocktail sauce was nasty!!! We tried the empanada and it was good. After my friends' suggestions and reading the reviews on Yelp, I am left wondering what type of tastebuds people have or did they perhaps go to another location. Clearly, they could not have eaten what I had tonight!!!! I only gave 1 star because the empanada was not bad. Now the sauce that came with the empanada looked scary, yet I was brave enough to stick my pinky finger in it and I should have just thrown it away. Oh, I forgot to discuss the side of cheese grits and the hush puppy. Well if I forgot about them, that tells you that neither were memorable. Will I return to Catfish Station? Absolutely not!!! I have been eating at Catfish Station since they opened their location off 1960. The food was always hot, fresh and so good! I'm very happy this location is now opened. We went Saturday evening and tried the catfish with red beans and rice. Hubby had catfish with dirty rice. Hush puppies come with the order. Next time we will order a separate order of Hush puppies, they are like no others. The fish was crispy and the inside was very tender just the way I like it. I loved the hush puppies even though I ordered an additional 5 pcs for $1.99 and it was not in my bag. I didn't notice until I was home so check your order. The fries where battered and the tartar sauce was homemade, and a bit spicy. I'll be back. I was satisfied but not blown away. I also sampled the dirty rice and decided against it.
