Sir Jacob III gave us the best service iv had in a very long time. The shrimp was very good, and I absolutely loved the Cesar salad bar.

I got a family pack of fried fish, beans, coleslaw, fries, and hush puppies for $37. It fed 4 adults and our 100 lb granny. There were sides left over! Jackie took our order over the phone. She knew the menu well, had great customer service on the phone and in the parking lot, and wore a mask when bringing our food out. I added to the order at the last minute, and she remembered my name and order. The food was out fast. All the food was hot, fresh, and the fries and fish were crispy. You can get regular or spicy fish. I don't like their hush puppies because they are oddly shaped and just blah. However, I HATE coleslaw, but they have coleslaw without mayonnaise that's AMAZING so that makes the hush puppies a moot point. For starters the decor is something reminiscent of this countries dark and most embarrassing past/history. After being there for a moment you can immediately sense that they cater to a particular demographic and their regular customers. My wife and I did not get the feeling that we were welcomed and it was apparent in the level of service we received. I ordered the catfish and my wife ordered the chicken, we both had the lettuce station, because that was not a salad bar. I was under the impression that they were going to bring out more items for the salad bar, but I was seriously mistaken. Our drink orders (sweet tea and a coke) arrived just about the same time our meal arrived. We asked for bread and that arrived at the end of the meal. The catfish was over cooked and hard, the fries were cold, the green beans had the temp of if they were literally scooped out of a can and never heated up, the mashed potatoes looked as if they were recycled from someone else's meal, and heaven forbid if we wanted a refill on water or any other beverage; that was a no go. Our waitress was trash, garbage and avoided us as if we were not there. When it came time to pay, I voiced my displeasure to the cashier and asked for the manager, and to my expectations the manger was too busy to speak with me about our dinning experience. If you want to be ignored by the wait staff, eat horrible food, desire to be reminded of the separatist 1940's through the 1960's and have money to give to a poorly run establishment; then this your place. If not; keep as far away from the Catfish Parlour as humanly possible. read more

Have been going to Catfish Parlor for over 30 years. It seems that the size of the fillets have shrunk over the years, but the still have the same great flavor. I am not a fan of their hushpuppies (they lack seasoning) and they are dry. The cold iced beer mug, when you walk in, is great. read more

Another reviewer nailed it - underwhelming. Overcooked, underseasoned, dry, small filets, bland beans, good vinegary coleslaw. Maybe it was the time of day we went, half of what was on our plate seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp because the food was barely warm. Obviously this place has a loyal following of regulars but we will not be among them. I also think it's expensive for what you get. I had a special, two filets, Caesar salad bar, mashed potatoes, beans and cole slaw. One grilled, one fried filet, which were very small and a little dry, and I could not eat the grilled filet. It had a weird taste. The fried filet was better and I ate that. I tried the beans which tasted straight from a can (Ranch Beans, anyone?) and I tried the cole slaw which was good and fresh tasting. The potatoes were ok but the gravy was lukewarm and I couldn't even eat it. My husband had spicy and regular filets, and fries. The fries were barely warm. I tried one and they would have been really good had they been warmer. The salad bar is only a Caesar salad bar so don't go expecting anything but lettuce and croutons, parmesean (I think) cheese and tomatoes, the latter of which do not go on a Caesar salad. The waitress was so, so sweet. So was the young man who seated us. But they did not make up for the low quality meal we had. I asked my husband if he wanted a dessert and he said, We are not buying any more food here. Sorry Catfish Parlour. I have lived in Georgetown for two years and I just tried Catfish Parlour and loved it! The best time to go is during lunch because you have so many veggie choices and everything tastes so fresh! I am on a Keto diet and I can get the grilled lemon pepper shrimp that is to die for! I tasted my husband's catfish and kinda got a tear in my eye because it reminded me of growing up in northeast Texas at our family fish fry's! If you eat there for dinner bring an appetite because they give you a basket of delicious hush puppies , lots of coleslaw( that's not loaded with mayo) and amazing pinto beans with every meal plus you get another side! The service was fine nothing special. The salad bar was decent just plain ceaser. Took probably 15-20 minutes for food to arrive was hot looked pretty good the sides were the best part. The fish was bland good breading though, the popcorn shrimp was practically just breading sometimes you would get shrimp sometimes you wouldn't. I ordered the spicey Catfish with coconut shrimp. The batter was perfect. It wasn't thick and greasy. I loved the flavor. The blackened chicken my husband had was very moist. The hush puppies were fresh. The dinner came with a salad bar. The salad bar ingredients were high quality and fresh. And the side dishes were excellent. The service was great. They made us feel at home. The place left us with a warm feeling in our hearts and bellies. I can't wait to bring some friends here. Ummmm, I really must have missed what all of the hype is about... -The weird hush puppy-ish fried straw things they bring out when seated were old, cold and swimming in grease. The jalapeño tartar sauce tasted good with it, but the overly manufactured appearance was a turn off. -I ordered the blacked salmon, ate roughly 1/3 and couldn't force it down anymore. I kept dousing it in lemon, butter and salt but all I could taste was blackened seasoning. No salmon. No lemon. No salt. It was completely inedible. The contrast of the bland rice just made matters worse. Had it been edible, I would have been left hungry because it was WAY small and severely over priced for what you get. -The hubby got the unlimited catfish & popcorn shrimp. It was good, not great but he said he could eat it again. (Side note: I would have been happy with with unlimited popcorn shrimp but they wouldn't allow me to order it at dinner.) -Kids, both under 3, ordered steak fingers & popcorn shrimp. The first time we came here, it was fantastic. Since then, each visit has become progressively worse. The hush puppy sticks are okay, but the crew cooking struggles to understand the appropriate seasoning of what they're making. I ordered lemon pepper trout, and it was served VERY dry (overcooked) with a stale-flavored seasoning and dried parsley absolutely coating it. The flavor simply didn't add anything to the poor fish. Rather, the resulting flavor was extremely undesirable. That same dousing of dried parsley (like from a giant shaker from Sam's Club) topped everything: rice, GRAVY (what?!?), etc. I took one bite of each part of my meal and just couldn't do it. I can stomach a number of things, but this was just bad. Family all ordered fried catfish and fries. The catfish was so salty, no one could eat the breading. The fries were definitely not fresh, nor were they seasoned properly. The fried okra was very, very hard and very, very dry. Perhaps it was an old batch that had sat under the heat lamps for a while? The service here is always exceptionally friendly, and that is a definite bright spot. Our server tonight wanted to please, but she was very busy and as a result, we waited a long time for drink refills, hush puppy refills, to place our orders, for our check, etc. For the price we paid, we definitely expected better. I want to support our smaller Austin-area businesses, but until the issues with the food are fixed, we simply won't return. read more

As expected this place is almost identical to the other Catfish Parlour in Austin. Still has the funky shaped (but yummy) hush puppies and the PEARL beer clocks on the wall. The only real difference (besides the obvious newness of it) is the size and look of the building. In fact the look of it sort of puzzled me at first because I expected a sort of antique warehouse/shed thing like the other location, but instead we got this giant attractive building that had beautiful carved wooden benches, and lovely home fixtures. But that didn't fool me for long...once I walked inside the actual restaurant it felt like the old parlour I knew and loved as a kid. Of course it's pretty casual, pretty cheap and the food isn't bad but isn't great either. It's not a bad place to go to on a hot Saturday afternoon, like we did this past weekend. They have decent portions and some of the friendliest waitresses I've ever met! I still get the catfish every time because nothing else looks appealing to me on the menu. I went with two other people and we shared a large bowl of beans, and their version of coleslaw (which I admit is pretty good). I don't like coleslaw for the most part, but they have a different kind of ingredient they use instead of mayo it is like a vinegarette dressing of sorts. It is much better tasting (and probably healthier than the alternative). Not much else to say about Catfish Parlour because it's the sort of place I would probably go back every few months to. Let's just say I don't crave their food on a regular basis, but every now and then I like to have some fried catfish and they are a good place to choose. I also enjoy going inside and looking at all of their knick knacks on the walls. Catfish Parlour is just one of those places I can't escape from because it brings back memories of eating with my grandparents as a little kid. Theresa was the best. She kept our drinks full at all times and checked on us constantly. She deserves a raise. Her and another lady seemed to be the only servers but I counted 8-12 non essentials just standing around, and then 6 of them set around a table and golden napkins in silverware all while Theresa and the other sever did everything. read more

We had a great experience at this establishment on Mother's Day. We're a large group of 21, so that's always problematic, and none of the places we'd called we're accepting reservations, but all indicated that they could accommodate us. The first restaurant we went to only had three servers, and said they could not seat us. Catfish Parlor seated us within 10 minutes of our arrival. Our server did an excellent job, keeping all our drinks refilled, and checking in every few minutes to make sure we didn't need anything else. It seemed like the food may have taken a little longer than normal, but all our meals came out together, and were delivered to the proper person with no confusion, the food was hot, the sides were served family style and were plentiful, and the bill was split among the 5 families appropriately. How about, OMG this place is AMAZING! I love the fact that they have an all you can eat on Tues, Wed and Thurs nights. It's totally the way to go. It's very reasonably priced and it's really good food. We had the all-you-can eat catfish and shrimp and 1 helping was all I needed to feel full but I felt obligated to order a second helping. As stated before, it's family style sides. They are yummy. Cesar salad is good (you make it yourself, no way it can be bad). All in all, it's a great family atmosphere and it's a fun place to be. Ordered dinner for delivery through Waiters with Wheels. I had the 4 piece catfish dinner and my son had the chicken fried steak. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. The catfish had no flavor except for cornmeal and the tarter sauce I added tasted like pure vinegar. I'd ordered the jalapeño tarter sauce, but it was some bizarre lime green color that I just couldn't eat. The meal came with beans, coleslaw, fries and hush puppies, none of which had much flavor. And the hush puppies were a weird tube shape. Overall, it was much less than I was hoping for and I doubt we'll eat there again. read more

Very disappointed. Ordered on line and picked up within a reasonable time frame. When I got home I discovered that one of the items I ordered had not been included in my order. I emailed the restaurant and asked that I my credit card be credited with the amount that had been deducted for the food item I did not received. I got no response, so I emailed the restaurant a second time with the same request. Again, I got no response from the restaurant.
