This was exactly what I wanted. In the hugely latin neighborhood of "Gunset Park," there are a huge amount of restaurant options. This one just happened to be... where I was standing at the moment I became hungry. Ordered rice with chorizo and was presented with a plate which was pretty close to a 50/50 split of meat and rice. I ended up taking most of it home. It came (to make this the most carbohydrate filled meal ever) with a basket of delicious buttered toast. Slap some Goya hot sauce on it (obviously) and you're good as golden. I'd go back if I happened to be in the neighborhood, although next time I'll probably go for one of their milkshakes - which seemed to be a pretty popular item.

    New New place.......

I ordered the Chuleta Frita and it started out good but I got food poisoning later on. Something was wrong with that cutlet!

One day I had an intense craving for oxtail and had no idea where to find it in Bay Ridge, so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the oxtail with white rice and salad, plus a pork pastele. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the oxtail actually had generous, tender meat on the bones (which is not always the case!). What surprised me most was how much food I had left over for the next day. Great portions, great flavor. I'll definitely be ordering again! And it was a good reminder that sometimes the real gems aren't the ones with all the decorative bells and whistles. The food is where it's at.

It's not very often that I go out of my way to seek out Dominican food but this place did not disappoint. The insides are pretty rustic, and I would call this a typical Brooklyn hole in the wall. As someone who does not eat pork, I obviously cannot comment on a lot of of the menu offerings, but the few things I did have here were absolutely delicious. This is one of the best rotisserie chickens I've had, the spices on the outside were phenomenal, and the chicken inside was absolutely juicy and succulent without being dried out. I rarely ever eat white meat in a rotisserie chicken, but the chicken breast was cooked so well here. I also love the fresh tostones, they are my absolute favorite island snack. These were served with a side of the garlic sauce - which in my opinion could use a lot more garlic and a little bit of salt to contrast the fried plantains. Spanish rice was delicious as always, and the maduro's were Fried perfectly without compromising the integrity of the plantain. Overall, this was a solid meal, our server was super friendly and accommodating as well. I do think they could maybe spruce up the insides a little bit to make it look less dreary, and offer more chicken options for those of us that don't eat pork.

However I usually forget that they also had food because there are so many options for Mexican food around here. This time around I decided to stop and try their food out. My boyfriend order the steak but they were out of stock so he settle for the pernil. He claims to be a pernil connoisseur and wasn't happy with his pernil here. I had two margaritas one regular and one with mezcal and left feeling a little tipsy. I think this is just a place for drinks and snacks but the food was just ok for me.

They had a backyard area which I was surprised about but they made it look good. I ordered a French Bull dog and from the ingredients it looked like the only difference was instead of beer there was a small bottle of Hennessy, sounds awesome right. In my head and too so other places I've been to when you ask for a bulldog you get a nice big margarita glass with the bottle usually beer inside. Nope here they gave me a tiny glass with the cognac inside, no way you're calling that a bulldog and charging almost 20 for it. It was good but not justifiable at that size. I had this one drink and left. 3 stars maybe I'll try them again soon

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.

Our favorite was the Salchipapa and the yuca croquettes from the platters which we could eat plates of. Between the pork and chorizo, I thought the pork was more flavorful but the chorizo was also very good. Out of the drinks, I enjoyed the bar Chuzo margarita the best. Since it's a clarified drink, it looks different from a regular margarita but oh so delicious. My least favorite was the sangria but I don't usually enjoy wine. When we entered there was only one other table occupied. Food and drinks were served quickly. Their menu is also great in delineating between GF= Gluten Free | DF= Dairy Free | V= Vegetarian | V+= Vegan. I would 100% come back during or not during happy hour. Highly recommend.

The sushi grade tuna and avocado layered together in a bright, herbaceous broth that had just the right amount of heat and freshness. The Scallop Crudo was equally impressive, silky smooth scallops with a citrusy, slightly sweet backdrop that let the quality of the fish shine. The Crab Cake was well seasoned and had this beautiful depth of flavor from the Ecuadorian manglar crab, not your average crab cake at all. And the Chicken Chuzo Platter genuinely surprised me. I normally avoid skewer style meats because they tend to come out dry but this chicken was incredibly moist, tender and packed with flavor from the brasa marinade. Served alongside yuca croquettes and Andean corn, it was a full, satisfying plate. On the drinks side the Light Roast Espresso Martini was smooth, perfectly foamy and had this lovely depth without being overly sweet. And the Ruby Rose Cooler? As a pink grapefruit lover, this one was made for me. Bright, refreshing and dangerously easy to sip.
