A business with heart and divine meals! It's a market but attached is a grill and bakery. I recently ordered the Sunday deal--wood-fired chicken, beans, tortillas and salsa for $20....I didn't know these spices existed and my tastebuds could be so happy. The heart--they've been giving veterans a free breakfast (I believe once a week) go 15 years! They've even set up a nonprofit!!! Well worth the drive! read more

I was at the Veterinarian with my dog, and due to COVID-19, I had to wait in my vehicle. While doing so, I noticed this market!! They have a free refill station of hand sanitizer outside, the store is remarkably clean and all the staff were wearing masks and gloves. The store is well stocked and everyone was helpful. It is much more expensive than other grocery stores, but I like to support small businesses, and didn't mind no crowd, a butcher shop in the market and the friendly staff. read more

I was famished and I told the man at the register it was my first time in the store. He graciously walked me over to the place where you can order freshly cooked food. I had a great chicken taco! I'm not really sure what it is...a restaurant with groceries or a grocery store with an area to sit down and enjoy delicious food, made to order. But it's neat and clean. We visit Castaneda's often. I follow the Facebook page and saw they are offering a $20 Snack Pack ! Great deal for football sunday. 2 burritos cut in half, 5 tacos and nacho tater tots! I enjoyed everything but the meat in the tacos didnt have a lot of flavor and I didnt notice until I got home that I didnt get any salsa in my bag. I would of been happy to pay for it but normally you get salsa with your tacos and burritos. If you follow on Facebook you will also see that on Saturday mornings they offer a free breakfast to Veterans. How cool is that ?? I will continue to support Castaneda's and next time maybe try a different meat in the taco. read more

This place reminds me of Lola's market, but without all the grumpy workers. I love getting their Mexican bread. It is fresh and so delicious with a nice cup of hot chocolate ( hot coffee works too but I don't drink coffee). They have so many Mexican products at decent prices. They've got a little restaurant where you can order daily specials, burritos and tacos. For what they charge, they definitely give you a good quantity of food. They've got the meat department as well that offers fresh cuts of meats and fish. The butcher is always so friendly and helpful. They've got many Mexican postres such as arroz con leche, flan, tres leeches cakes, and s good selection of Mexican sweet breads. This is a taqueria located inside a Mexican market. Ordered a chile relleno burrito to go. The ordering process is a little weird. The taqueria is in the rear of the store. You walk to the rear of the store, place your order, then walk back to the front of the store, wait in the cashier's checkout, tell them what you ordered, pay for it, then walk back to the taqueria with the receipt. It took about 10 minutes for my order to go. It was a bit pricey at $11 plus tax bringing the total to almost $12. I got it home, cut it in half as it was huge. I have to say this is one of the tastiest chile relleno burritos I've had. All of the ingredients were well balanced and the chile relleno had plenty of cheese. I would give them 5 stars if the price was a bit lower. Can't wait to try their other items. read more

This place is a nice change of pace from your Safeways or Lola's markets. I usually stop in during my lunch hour to pick up some fruits, veggies, other Latin food staples and lunch. The store is very clean and the products is fresh and the staff is friendly. The restaurant food is pretty darn good, and the rice is almost as good as my moms. I usually get tacos, a Plate of carnitas or chile verde, or the taco special (with tamales). Their guacamole/pico de gallo is fresh n chunky with hints of lime (yum). It help that most of the food is pretty inexpensive :). It worth stopping into and getting a few things and a bite to eat. read more

Tried this place after seeing Facebook posts about their family meal deals. We tried the 2020 taco deal, 20 tacos for $20. I thought it too good to be true. It was. They do look pretty, however when I called to place my order I ask what the meat was in the tacos and the woman paused and said ground beef, sounds good I said! I wouldn't expect carne asada or el pastor in a $1 taco. However not only was there no meat, there was very little flavor and almost no filling. I'm thinking it was potato inside?!?! Below are two different tacos for comparison showing the inside of what was in the taco. I'd love for this deal to be an actual good deal and I would totally try them again if they would fix the lack of meat issue. read more

The tortilla fell apart immediately when I lifted the Taco up to take a bite. In addition, the fish had no seasoning to me at all. I buy a lot of meat combos and deli stuff from this Mexican market. The butcher shop has many pre seasoned combos which saves the guess work on recipes. The deli dept has deals every week from Taco Tuesdays to Fried Chicken for families. Best of all, the owners host a free breakfast every Saturday morning for veterans. read more

We came in here based on yelp reviews. I read that you get a free breakfast burrito if you check in, but i did not realize that the offer had expired. When i requested the free burrito (unaware the promo had expired), this guy kindly explained that even though the offer was over a year ago, that he would give me the free burrito anyways. He was very nice, friendly and accommodating to our party. Then I found out later he was Jose the paella guy! We bought 10 burritos and they were all very good. My husband and daughters loved the shrimp and garlic one. We ended eating half for lunch and the other half for dinner because they are so big. I wish we could have tried their paella. Stopped in to order burritos and tacos' freshly made. When you see the prices on the menu, you think "Whoa....no way". But then you see and taste the finished product and you are hooked. Hubby's burrito was enough for two. And, it had a very generous fish fillet inside, not to mention the beans, rice, lots of avocado and all the fixin's. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free taco. Castenada's has always been my go to for Christmas Tamales, rice and their salsas, guacamole. They offer very authentic Mexican dishes and have a wonderful bakery. The only problem, like many other businesses is that they were short staffed at the counter and it took quite a while to get service to get my items. read more

Went there yesterday night and the two teenage girls working the cashier were so rude and castanedas will rob you blind over beans. Not even kidding. My fiancé walked in and they were mis priced and somehow 8 pounds of DRY NON ORGANIC beans will cost $26 (two bags at 4 pounds) what a rip off. I asked him the price and I almost fainted lol so I told him to return them (he literally walked back into the store 30 seconds after buying) and the girls refused to give him a return and they didn't even give him a receipt and tossed it and when he asked for it, those brats handed him the trash can and said "you can find it." Too bad they treated us like that cause we shop(PED) there all the time. Never again! Also you can get 25 pounds of organic dry beans at Costco for $15. Go to a more honest Mexican market. read more

Don't waste your time trying to find a Mexican taco shop- this place has it all!!! They have chicken mole, tlayuda, zopilote, and al pastor to name a few. We definitely frequented this market many times for al pastor tacos and were never disappointed! This is a must try! read more
