Super burrito carnitas
Dana H.

This remodeled Mexican store and Taqueria has been open for a couple of months. Finally decided to try it. This review is only for the taqueria, not the Mexican store. The taqueria is located in the rear with it's own entrance. You can also enter it from the main grocery store as it's all in the same building. There is plenty of parking. The store front, parking lot, and sideways are clean. The inside of the taqueria is clean and modern. It was shortly after 12 noon and there were no customers in the taqueria (which is kinda strange) so they took my order immediately. I ordered a super burrito carnitas to go. The super burrito is plenty big, so I ate half and saved the rest. It wasn't all that well balanced. There was plenty of pork, but it was overly salty and not very tasty like roast pork should be. The white cooked onions (huge pieces) didn't go well in this burrito. To be honest, I've never seen such large pieces of cooked onion in a burrito. The pico de gallo and salsa, sour cream, and cheese was skimpy. I have to agree with another Yelp Elite review that the burrito was cold. Can't really recommend ordering this again. If I do go back, I'll try some other items on the menu.

We had high hopes for this place, since it's a market I figured they'd have fresh products. Didn't really work out that way. Service took a while too even though the place wasn't that busy. My man and I both had taco salads with al pastor, no rice or beans since we're keeping it low carb and just didnt eat the shell. The al pastor had different seasoning than I'm used to and that's fine, I'm open to variety. But the meat itself were tough nuggets. Tasted like it had been crunchy at one point and then doused in sauce, nothing tender about it. The kids had burritos, we ordered regular but got super, which would normally be great but one kid is dairy sensitive and we didnt want cream in there, other kid was stoked until she kept finding cartilidge and fat chunks in her carnitas. It wasn't best cuts and it was those soft type carnitas that aren't crisped up that are not my thing. I didn't taste the carne asada but he said it was okay. Normally we would give a place a second chance, but we're not inclined. We will however be shopping at the market. Like I said we are keto and they sell fresh chicharones in bulk which are awesome. I am planning to go back on the weekend for the huge pork belly slab chicharone. I have been dreaming of that. Will update my review once I try that bug guy.

The taqueria is okay. Price is in line with other taquerias. The meat is great and flavorful but the rice and beans are kind of bland. Portion size is larger than other places! Of course, my standard taqueria order is a carne asada super burrito. The carne asada was good. Unfortunately the burrito was cold. I don't know if it was the sour cream and guacamole that cooled it down or if the ingredients weren't kept warm enough. Chips are fresh and made in-house! The green salsa is much better than the red salsa, IMO. The taqueria has a second entrance but you can also access it through the newly-opened supermarket. It's setup like a Chipotle, but with authentic items. Plenty of parking when I went on Monday night.

Both the enchilada and taco were generously stuffed full of meat. Tender tortillas, and the beans were perfectly creamy. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, like it was made with real care and pride. There were a lot of to-go orders flying out the door, which tells you something right away--but we dined in and received absolutely impeccable service. The owner cracked open a bottle of their homemade hot sauce for us to try... very yummy!!! sweet with a little heat - it was so good we added a bottle to our order to take home. Please support this long-standing local business. Great people, amazing food, and the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. Location is in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. The food is fantastic. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

They said that any dish you leave the meat out of is vegetarian, and they also have the McDougal section and vegan sections on the menu. We were given complimentary chips and salsa. The salsas were quite good and flavorful: one mild and two spicy. We ordered the chilaquiles omelet and the heuvos divorciado. After the tasty salsas, we were surprised at how bland the meals were. The rice was very good, and the beans were good, but the omelet, the guacamole, the eggs, red and green sauces were all incredibly bland. I'm guessing most of the rave reviews are not for vegetarian dishes? The outdoor seating is only a few tables out front, but it was still a nice option on a beautiful day and there was plenty of shade.
