This place is amazing. The food is always great and up until fairly recently, the chef made these 5 star dishes with nothing but a toaster oven and a small bunsen type burner and frying pan. That really speaks volume about George. He can create almost anything from almost nothing. Way to go George!
The beer selection is always great. They have 12 rotating taps of craft beer and they are constantly switching them up. I recently had gone to an establishment that had 100+ beers on draft and there wasn't a single one that I was interested in. That's never the case here. 12 taps obviously doesn't sound like much, but the rate that they are able to switch them up is quick and there's always a new beer to try every couple of days if not quicker. They also have a good bottle selection of beers, craft soda (no Pepsi or coke products,) they have different wine featured each month as well as a variety of white and red wines, they also carry some local meads and if you're into it, they have high end scotch, whiskey, tequila, and rum for sipping. Something cool that they do is feature local beers on tap for the first time. There's a flourishing beer scene locally with from the barrel, Rockingham brewery, and Kelsen brewing and cask and vine usually puts their new beers on tap before anyone else.
My wife and I have many date nights here. The atmosphere is perfect for dates, but they also have a couple couches for a laid back group night and a couple larger tables for a friends night out. I love that I can message them on Facebook or give them a call and get a reservation for anytime whether it be for that evening (if available) or a couple days away. I sometimes stop in without the wife and the bar is great as well, plenty of room and if you show up on the right night, you might even catch the bartender dancing on top of the bar.
The wait staff and owners are extremely friendly and easy to talk to. This establishment doesn't have televisions, just some light music to set the mood. The service may not be quick, but it's not supposed to be. Those that have complained on here about the service have completely missed the point of this establishment. This place is not open to turn tables quickly, they want you to hang out and enjoy a conversation whether you're on a date or hanging out with friends. That's why there's no televisions. They are creating the ultimate experience of enjoying each other's company and taking your time to do so. They've created an oasis to escape the outside world for a little while.
Lastly, my favorite part about this place besides the craft beer and drinks, the great food and excellent desserts (try the creme brûlée,) the friendly and very helpful wait staff, the date night or a friends night out atmosphere is all the crazy events and ideas they put into motion here. They do so many things that are out of the ordinary that you won't find at any other establishment and it amazes me that they still come up with new ideas all the time. Everyone seems to have trivia night. Not these guys. They take a ton or two of beach sand and throw it down on the floor, put up some tiki decorations and celebrate the end of summer with a week long beach party pouring rum drinks and having a great time. They call out their beer distributors to give them the best beer to put on tap by having them compete against each other to win customer votes. It's a ton of fun for everyone involved. They have an argument outside of work of who would win in a showdown, dumbledore or gandalf, and then have us vote all week. Then just for the hell of it, the owner shows up at the end of the week dressed up as the winner (Gandalf thank you very much lol.) The list just goes on.
Bottom line is if you haven't been here yet, you need to be. read more
