This Venezuelan eatery is a bit hidden, with no signage outside of the Chevron it is located in, and inside the Chevron, there's only a large taqueria sign - nothing saying Venezuelan until you get up close and see what is on display.
Cachapas sweet corn pancakes, arepas, tequeños, empanadas are offered here as are their cachitos. Perusing their menu it appears their signatory item is the cachito, which comes in many flavors rather than the typical ham only. When I was there, they had already run out of their cachitos, but they did have golfeados anise sticky buns, and the Venezuelan Christmas ham bread (pan de jamon).
The pan de jamon looked unusually flat but after biting into it, I can testify that it's flavorful and well portioned - not too much dough. And for $25, it's one of the better priced ones I've seen.
Service was very friendly and helpful - and the lady behind the counter was excited to see other Venezuelans and was proud of the offerings. I was lucky to try both and they both were great and the pricing was fair.
I am however hesitant to try the tequeños and the empanadas since they seem to be sitting out a while. If they are made fresh once ordered, I'll definitely give them a try as well. read more
