I was back in Natick for a few days from Chicago. Had a break in the day so I walked over for two all around, chips and a Pepsi. Fast service and the dogs were, as always, awesome. My family loves Casey's and we've been going there for generations. My mother is moving to Chicago after 79 years in Natick. I don't know if I will ever have a chance to visit Casey's again so it was a treat to sit at the counter one last time for my favorite meal. Good food and hot dogs, chef incredibly rude to customers waiting in the "wrong place" for food

Deeply uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience would not recommend.We stopped by this diner in Natick for a quick late lunch. The place was almost empty just one customer and the owner running the counter and kitchen. From the moment we walked in, we were met with cold stares and exchanged looks between the owner and the only other customer, the kind that made it very clear we were not welcome. It was subtle, but unmistakable.We placed a simple order: a sandwich and a coffee. A minute later, the owner asked where we had parked. When I said across the street, he immediately said, "Why don't you wait in your car? I'll bring it out to you."Let me be very clear, the diner was empty. There was absolutely no reason for this except to make us feel out of place. We chose to leave and wait in the car. The food was brought out with zero courtesy, zero eye contact, zero words.This wasn't just bad service, it was thinly veiled hostility. I've traveled and eaten in many places, and I know when I'm being silently told: "You don't belong here." If you're a person of color, or simply someone who believes in basic decency, skip this place. There are plenty of diners that serve food without side servings of discomfort, judgment, or exclusion. read more

Great service, super delish hot dogs, perfectly scrumptious burgers and old, historic diner. Seats about 10 people at the counter. 3 or 4 tablesl outside. I love love love Casey's ..but I do not suggest other foods there as I have never tried them in 30 years! No need for me to branch out with what I know I love there. read more

From inside this charmingly dilapidated tiny building came superbly prepared specimens of those classically simple delights, a bacon cheeseburger and a vanilla shake. I enjoyed ducking through the little front entrance with the sliding door to look inside. I enjoyed placing my order at the outside window, and hearing the team members call out to coordinate the order. I appreciated delivery to my car window. And I enjoyed my meal. Est in 1890, food is simple and would make the purists happy. Steamed dogs and burgers are their main attraction. They come out quick and are fresh. You can also get pieces of pie, chips, soda, SANKA and some breakfast sandwiches like an egg and cheese. My only complaint is they don't wear gloves and they're all constantly handling money. That being said, they've been around so long and no one has died.. lol.. but I think today they could at least wear gloves when making the food. That's my only complaint. read more

Such a funky, fun place! My niece found it and we both loved it. Take it what it is. Ab our server was charming and gave us the history of the spot.He cooked up an egg and cheese on FRENCH toast and hash browns that was inexpensive and good. No over the top toppings, add ons or portion sizes. Just a good reasonable breakfast. And the coffee? Excellent! So happy to find a place with personality having come all the way from SoCal. Just happen to be in Natick and in need of a snack. I heard about this really old Diner with approximately eight or nine stools old wooden counter and doing things the old-fashioned way I walked in it was like walking back into 1950. Definitely doing it the same for a long time with the same equipment same counters, the same stools basically everything hasn't changed no updates whatsoever not even the pot were the hotdogs boil. I went ahead and ordered two dogs and a burger the dogs came out in a roll bread was fresh it would've been nice if they were grilled I will request that if I'm ever by again the dog was a natural casing medium size had a good snap to it some juice great taste they have the standard fixings onions relish mustard ketchup didn't really see much else. I asked one of the fellows that was swinging the hotdogs when I ordered my dogs and burger if I could have mine a little bit more on the rear side he said no turned around didn't even blink an eye but when the cook came over with my burger it was nice and pink inside I picked it up they had some grilled onions on it some cheese had a little bit of burger juice dripping into the plate taste was phenomenal. And since I was in such a nostalgic old diner I figured I'd grab a root beer. Just a regular can of root beer all in all great little place to stop for a burger or dog. Pricing is reasonable three bucks for a dog five dollars for a burger with cheese fixings are free. They actually have five parking spots out front and it looks like there's additional parking in the rear not sure if it goes with the diner. read more

Moved to Southwest Florida from Natick. Not missing the weather, but certainly missing Casey's. All around hot dogs, pepper burger with mustard, cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and ketchup. Can't wait till I come up. Still have a gift certificate that I hope I can buy a nice meal for myself and any friends or kids that might be nearby that want to share. My dog misses it as well. Dined there frequently, ordered many times. As always, asked for a "burger with everything on it". Guy behind counter said you want "ketchup, mustard, lettuce, onion, pickle and cheese?" I said "yes" He said "Well you need to now tell me what you want on it." I said I always order one with "everything on it." He said "That's inconsiderate" I left having been a loyal customer for many years. I always left tips of 100%, equal to amount of the food order. Really need new help. Best place around to get hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, and pie! They have a VERY small interior with ~10 seats as well as a walk up window. Quick and friendly service, classic recipes, and absolutely delicious food. Lots of history here too. Not too much parking, but the turnaround time is quick so it's usually not a problem. Definitely a must if you're in the area! I recommend a hot dog "all around". Which has relish, onions, and mustard. read more

Classic hot dog joint which hits the spot. Their dogs come on a classic NE bun and you can add mustard, ketchup, relish, onions. They are a good snack or if you want other things like burgers. Service was friendly and it is a long time business for a family. I'd come back for more if I'm in the area and I recommend trying it at least once. read more

First off, if you're not from here these hot dogs are gross. Seriously. Second, I'm all hungover from a fun night out with my cousins and roll up cuz one of the cousins said this was the place to go (they loved it from their childhood, I get it, you have good memories from places). I order 2 dogs and ask what goes on them and the guy working there rattles all 5 condiments and I only heard a couple so I said the works. This douche bag said, "don't say the works, just tell me what you want on the dog. " I said everything and he then said, "just tell me what you want on your hotdog.". I wish I would've left right then, but I was so hungover I just needed something to eat. Dude, seriously help out your customers especially the ones that keep going back. I grew up in Natick and had memories of going to Casey's with my dad to get amazing hot dogs. Stopped recently for a bite on the way home from a camping trip. We definitely smelled like campfire and were dressed ultra casual to say the least -- this would never be a problem here. We were lucky to grab two seats at the counter. We were immediately offered two hot dogs which I promptly accepted. The guy working the counter (didn't catch a name but it seemed like he'd been working there a long time) immediately suggested his favorite toppings and again, we promptly accepted. I remember mustard and relish, there may have been ketchup too. The hot dogs were exactly like I remembered. Juicy, delicious and they have that great snap when you bite in. My boyfriend fancied a sandwich also and was interested in the ham salad. We were immediately told "that's an unusual order... I usually would order my ham salad in a cheese melt. With a mustard spread on the toast." Well, sign me up. At this point I was ready to trust this guy's recommendations. I was just along for the ride. I'm still dreaming about this sandwich like over a week later. Salty, perfectly grilled (not overly greasy) and so so tasty. The mustard spread on the grilled side of the bread was mind-blowing, I think I'll be doing this on my own melts at home in the future. Cherry on top is that we enjoyed some nice banter between the grill guy and our server about who held the hot dog eating record (it's 36 in one sitting if I recall correctly). Super nice and fun people with some great stories, just like a diner should be. Only thing I would change is that we asked for waters and got two bottles of water which we had to pay for - but this was not a big deal when we got a filling meal for two (including the waters!) for maybe $15 at most! All in all I'm glad to see this place is still alive, kicking and just as amazing as I remember! We had a dope meal and I will definitely return when I'm in the area again. read more

My wife and I were headed for a baseball game that got rained out, after stopping at a nearby store for shopping, we found Casey's nearby for lunch. Jesus, what a great little find, love these small Mom & Pop places here in the Northeast. We almost passed it up, expecting a bigger place. It's a tight fit, very reminiscent of White Mana's in Hackensack and Nic's in Oklahoma City. Both of those places are a bit bigger than Casey's. Luckily, there were a couple of stools available(counter seating only), staff was very friendly, service was great. We both ordered cheeseburgers, chips and drinks. While waiting on the burger, got talked into having a hotdog as well, very glad I did. It was great, steamed with a great pop of the casing when I bit down on it. Both burgers were super, cooked just right. Afterwards, we decided on desert and couldn't make up our minds. Decided with both BCP and BCP, they were delicious. If ever in the area or just looking for a great bite to eat, Casey's fits the bill. Their menu is limited for a Diner, but I'm sure everything else on it is great. For my 1,500th review, I celebrate a place that may be THE quintessential eating place, in all the land. A place where simplicity reigns. A place that is just over 85 years old and has stood in its current spot for 30 years, all in the caring, loving hands of one family, the Caseys of Natick, MA. What is a restaurant? A place to enjoy good food and service, with good company, in a pleasing atmosphere. Across the country, people in the restaurant craft strive to create a winning blend of food, service, and milieu. Millions, even tens of millions can be spent making or remaking a location to achieve the perfect physical space. Chefs spend thousands of hours learning their art, wracking their brains for the perfect concept, the best dishes their hands and minds can conceive and execute. They seek financial backing, the best ingredients, great help in the kitchen and in the dining room. Casey's Diner required no millions of dollars, and no culinary degree, and yet it is truly holy ground in the world of restauranting. It's been on the National Register of Historic Places for the last 30 years. This diner started its life as a Worcester horse-drawn diner car in 1922, and the Caseys have lovingly cared for it ever since, right down to the original varnish on the all-oak, original interior, with ten simple barstools cozily arrayed along the bar. Here you will find a very simple menu of hamburgers and frankfurters and a few other sandwiches, like fried egg and ham and cheese. The burgers and sandwiches are grilled on an ancient old gas-powered griddle. The buns are heated on top of the meat. The frankfurters, Casey's signature item, are steamed in an antique copper hot dog steamer, and served up in a classic split-top New England-style bun. You can have a bag of chips or a soda in a can to go with your sandwich, or a cup of heavenly coffee from an antique gas-powered urn. There are no fries, or onion rings, and you'd be crazy to want them. It's all about these lovely franks and burgers, my friends. I mentioned service and by service I mean a warm, low-key welcome by Pat or Fred, a hot dog served moments after you ask for it, and burgers that go on the grill as you finish stating your order. It is simply not possible to have fresh food on a plate in front of you any faster than this. It's like magic. When you step inside, locals who have cherished this place since childhood glance your way, and you'll hear them call out orders for favorites that are clearly etched on their memory's tongue. "Three all-arounds, please!" An all-around is a frank with mustard, relish, and onion. These hot dogs make that perfect snap when you bite into them and you'll find yourself polishing off one or two just as an appetizer. They are delicious, perfect in every way. The hamburgers are just as simple and just as perfect. You can have white American cheese and a number of toppings, but I urge you to order the pepper burger with cheese and mustard. A pepper burger is topped with slivers of sweet pickled red and green bell peppers that are griddled right alongside the burger, and with mustard and cheese it makes an absolutely perfect, zesty lunch. It was so good, this jaded food grump felt tears stinging his eyes. On my second visit in the two days I was in Natick, I ordered two dogs and two pepper with cheese and mustard, and I left for my plane ride home almost giddy with delight at the simple, clean, pure taste of these treats. This place gets swamped just about noon every day it's open, with the ten stools in heavy rotation by hungry diners and the walk-up window at the right side a scene of constant activity as the locals line up and call out their regulars orders. Pat and Fred seem to know everyone and how they like their dogs and burgs. As I munched my lunch and snapped a few pictures with permission of the Caseys, I soon found myself the lucky recipient of stories of way back when and the beaming pride of locals who are glad that a stranger far from home appreciates the treasure they have kept going with their loving patronage over decade after decade. Pat proudly showed me the picture of the diner hitched to a horse that hangs on one wall, a snapshot of which I'll post shortly. If you love frankfurters and hamburgers, and you are within a couple of hours drive of this national treasure, you owe it to yourself to make time to plant your elbows on the counter and order up a couple of dogs and a burger or two, and enjoy this lovely piece of culinary history. As the guy who kind of invented the "milestone" review on Yelp, I normally review a non-business, like a park or a service organization for a milestone. For my 1,000th review, I celebrated a dumpy Chinese diner in Ohio that I enjoyed with my late father. But for this, my 1,500th, I am delighted to point to a magic little spot and to thank the Caseys for loving and caring for it all these years. read more

I've been going to Casey's for years and love the place. The hotdogs are great - the allaround is the standard - with mustard, relish and chopped onions. I usually start with one or two of those - which are usually provided within moments of ordering. After that I have a cheeseburger. I go with onion in (which means they're grilled into the patty), mustard and pickle. Dee-licious. All I can really just say is if you have a chance this is a must go and if you don't have a chance make one because it's all worth it. Who doesn't love American Classic Foods. read more

I love a greasy old diner and I really thought Casey's and I were going to be best of friends. The building is great. The locals are a plenty. I have no issue with a limited menu and I appreciate a quick turn-around but that's the end of what's great. The hot dogs are fine, but not $2.50 worth of fine. Burgers, too, not worth their price. There's no eating on the cheap here because everything is so tiny you need a few to fill up. What gets me though, is the staff. There were two guys working the counter. A sweet hard working kid and a guy in his 40s that was just plain rude. I get that your busy and I get that, given your volume, you don't want to change things up but when I asked, on one visit, if I could have tomatoes and pickles on my hot dog (as I was sitting in front of a thing full of chopped tomatoes and pickle slices), you could have been more polite about your no. I take no issue with the no. But there is no reason to be condescending and rude (the older guy, to the kid who asked for me. The kid was polite, but, dude, I WAS RIGHT THERE. I heard you.) I'm all for supporting local businesses and the higher prices would have been great with a better attitude or the crappy attitude would have been somewhat tolerable if the prices were more in line with the product. ::shrug:: (Also, side note, if you have a problem with guy guys cooking your food touching money and other people and then your food and not wearing gloves or washing their hands in between, you will have a problem with Casey's. I don't care much, some of my fav diners have this habit and it sort of adds to the feel, but if you care, and many people do, be advised. You won't notice this if you order from the window but you will if you're seating inside.) Casey's is in no danger of losing business because I'm not a fan. The locals who go here have been going here for decades and I'm sure they'll capitalize nostalgia for decades more to come. But if you're not a regular or with a regular or "alumni," then, don't bother. After a couple of visits I decided I'm not willing to put in the work of wasted time and money to be visible enough to be made to feel welcome. There are a lot of great lunch places in Natick center. Easily the best trolley-car diner in East-Central Massachusetts, hands-down. The rustic decor beckons a Nostalgia for yester-year. The aroma of hot coffee fills the trolley --- Did you know Casey's antique coffee urn still uses all of the original parts from its 1992 design! Very cool. My only nit-pick (though not enough of an issue to deduct a full star) is the lack of ham-based sandwich options. To be sure, across my first seven visits to Casey's, I have been delighted by the quality of: the chopped ham sandwich, the chopped ham & cheese sandwich, the chopped ham & egg sandwich, the sliced ham and cheese sandwich, the chopped ham and pickle sandwich, and the "western" sandwich. However, I was quite disappointed by the unavailability of sandwich options such as: sliced ham and pickle, chopped ham with pickle and egg, sliced pickle with ham, and/or chopped ham with slices of ham and tuna. Overall, the prices are very good and it's right across the street from my mom's apartment, so I would strongly recommend Casey's Diner: FIVE STARS!! read more

I'm actually ashamed to admit i haven't reviewed Casey's before. I've been coming here for decades now, off and on. We moved to the next town over almost 9 years ago now, and it's been much more "on" since then. My kid loves this place like crazy - it's been a constant for his entire life. Since the pandemic hit, we've been here about once a week. Their curbside game is simply the best in the area. I call in my order, and about halfway through, they recognize who I am, and finish it up for me. I'm desperately looking forward to the day we can come back and sit at the counter again, enjoying our dogs and the banter while we wait for the burgers.
