Kingston House was an absolute dream. We got engaged in late December and knew we wanted to get…read moremarried that summer, so we didn't have a lot of time to find a venue. After searching and searching I literally was about to give up and just elope, but then I came across Kingston House. We managed to snag the last summer weekend that would work for our schedules and I am so, so happy it worked out. As a wedding venue: The venue was everything I'd hoped for. The property is enormous, lush, and well cared for. There are so many beautiful little areas that each have their own feel. From fields, to a huge pond, to forest, to gardens, you name it. I loved how people could explore and enjoy the day without feeling squeezed into a small space or told they can't roam. It was really important to us that our guests would feel comfortable, and they did! We had a beautiful early summer day so we could go with our Plan A option of having our ceremony in front of the pond and the reception up above. But Matt has some great alternatives that would work if the weather is bad. This was a big anxiety reliever for me because of course the weather here is unpredictable. I knew that even if it rained, we'd have a beautiful spot for both the ceremony and reception. The location: Kingston was a perfect spot for us. We had a lot of people coming from Seattle and Bellingham, and a good group flying in, as well. Kingston is the perfect distance to feel sort of like a destination without actually requiring a huge trip for people. Our guests could drive home if they wanted, or rent a property nearby (there are LOTS of options). And of course, adding a ferry ride is fun! As long as you and your guests know how to plan for it, that is. I was relieved that none of our guests misjudged the timing and everyone made it there when they should. The driving directions were also super easy to follow, so no one got lost. And Matt's team was there to help guide our guests into the property and find the best place to park. The house: I mean, the HOUSE! We stayed Thursday night just the two of us (highly recommend) and then both of our immediate families stayed with us Friday and Saturday nights. There was plenty of room for everyone. But honestly this house was freaking magical. Every square inch was beautiful, styled to perfection, comfortable, and full of history and character. Matt has an excellent eye and has filled the home with interesting and super aesthetic furniture, art, and knick knacks. And then of course it's perfectly stocked and comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. It's such a gift that we can also go back to Kingston House someday since he rents it on Airbnb. We're planning to come back for sure, and hopefully make it a family tradition. Matt: Matt was so great to work with. Responsive and communicative, helpful, and so committed to making your day/weekend perfect. He really knows how to host a wedding and has clearly done this many times. He brought a wonderful level of calm to the weekend and has incredible attention to detail. He puts so much thought and care into the home and property, you can tell he takes pride in it. And he should! We loved working with Matt and look forward to seeing him again someday when we come back. Also he has a very cute dog, bonus points!

The grounds are beautiful, and the staff were great to work with. During the planning session, Matt helped us with ideas and made sure the bride and groom were happy with all the plans. The wedding was scheduled for mid-May and Mother Nature threw us a very last-minute curve ball. Matt and his staff jumped into action to move the ceremony spot to the "In case of rain" location. As the evening went on, it got colder than expected and once again, Matt and crew jumped into action to get the heaters up and running without the guests ever noticing. Everyone had a great time. The wedding party had a gorgeous and comfortable place to stay for two nights. We could not have asked for anything more. We highly recommend Kingston House!!

I've been to the Magnuson Park Building 30 about 4 times now; all of them for some sort of art and…read morecraft fair. For the most part, I am quite pleased with this site. Inside is big and roomy. During today's Renegade Craft Fair, the booths easily lined up in rows with sufficient room to get by in between the shoppers. The temperature control seems to be pretty good despite the big, airy space. The most recent visit is today, i.e. in Dec, and the inside was temperature comfortable. Also helps that there were plenty of attendees so humans are warming up the space too. There are bathrooms off to one side and a big bathroom that is identified as gender neutral (vs. handicapped). There were always plentiful of toilet paper and towels. This same off to one side area is roomy enough that if the event organizers planned ahead, they can set up tables and chairs for folks to sit and rest or for parents to tend to their children as needed. I've been to fairs where this was just an empty area though. The immediate outside is a good spot for food trucks to come and sell coffee and small bites. Enjoyed some good pie and cookies today. Parking has never been an issue. There's a small official lot, but we've always found parking within 3 blocks away. Easy.

There is also more gravel rather than lawn, which limits the usable space of the "backyard". The water views are still lovely and the bushes, flowers, shrubbery nice and well-maintained. Years ago, we were unable to use our own caterers without a lot of negotiation, additional costs and proof of insurance, not to mention covering the costs of the caterers transportation (which we offered to do). The staff over a decade ago felt impersonal and stand-offish, unfriendly and not wishing to be bothered by confirming reservations, nor addressing any questions we had in regards to our wedding day and the property. I hope things have gotten better, and that the people one works with now are more communicative, friendly and happy/willing to help.

It was clean inside and the little Nordic touch inside was intriguing. They were serving beer out of the kitchen which although I decided to skip being close to home base, I think it's a nice offering to be able to a cup while shopping for deals. The building was established in 1985 and hosts an open house to escape the rain or sun during the Syttende Mai parade, held each year to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day. If you need a rental space for an event, consider this lodge.

A family member was married here. $2500 gets you a beautiful space overlooking the water. We had use of the venue from 10am - 12 midnight. There was a bar area that had various sized glasses for 150 people. We brought our own beverages. We had use of the kitchen and did all the food ourselves. The bridesmaids decorated the chairs and gazebo that was made for the wedding. Two employees helped facilitate setting up plates and bussing tables. There is a dressing room for the bride (and wedding party) that has comfy couches, a dorm sized fridge and a counter space for hair & makeup people (if you bring them). There is a places to hang clothes. I saw hangers by the coat rack but I would bring hangers for gowns and dresses. The door by the kitchen can be locked. If you want privacy for this room, it is s good idea to have someone posted by the door. The facility has members that aren't restricted during your event. We saw a few people making their way to the dock that were not on our guest list. It would have been nice if they could have discreetly entered and avoided our dining area. We had 150 guests and a bridal party of twelve. There were only two stalls in each bathroom. If you want photo opps by the water, the bride and groom can take pictures on the dock. There is also a lovely place by the water that is a short walk from the building. The venue has various vases and containers that you can borrow to put on tables. The sound system is simple. There was a microphone. We brought our own music. There is a baby grand piano inside. Bonus points for the pretty views at sunset.

This venue is owned by the same people who have canceled my wedding at the Landing at Shilshole Bay…read moreso I wanted to make sure people booking here are aware of how Peter and Crystal do business. I was scheduled to have my wedding here on August 3rd. After booking in December and being told that construction would be completed in March my family and I checked in often to make sure everything was on track. The venue was not completed in March and we were given excuses every week since then about why things were not happening. My fiancé ended up going to see the construction progress on a date not scheduled with Peter and Crystal which is when he found the stop work order posted on their front door. Every time we had visited they covered this with a poster advertising the venue. We confronted them about this at our next meeting where they denied any problems and assured us that the venue would be completed. After looking into it more ourselves we found out that they do not have permits for the construction and have multiple people trying to get money back from them. At our next meeting we confronted Peter with this information where he finally said that our event would not be able to happen. The stop work order had been in affect since January. He chose not to inform anyone of this and keep taking people's money. We asked for our money back and he said if he wrote us a check it would bounce. They do not have any money and are scamming people. He promised to pay my dad back on Monday and it has not happened. He has stopped responding to us. Do not use this venue or their other venue called The Landing at Tyee. The construction has been done with out permits and the owners are lying to couples about what is going on with construction. Ballard Homestead's lower/sidewalk level was the site of a coffee fundamentals class I attended…read moreearlier today (4/9/22). This particular 101 level course ran for 2.5 hours with presentation, reference handouts, evaluation of pour over results manipulating ratio, grind, and time, and an overview of technical equipment. Plenty of opportunity for interactive tasting/cupping and to ask questions while seated around a kitchen island. The Ballard Homestead is related to The Fremont Arts Abbey. Very nice well maintained neighborhood events center.
