Beautiful. Quality delicious wine. Nice ambiance. The wine is Not grown here, but the view of the Sound over grapevines is amazing. The price per glass is way too high considering. They offer memberships, which might be the trick. It was a walk up counter, similar to fast food, in that one person rings you up, one person runs the cash register, and you bus your own table. No table service. There's no menu; it was like they expect you to know their products. Very different from other places. The music was unique, beautiful, but kind of boring. It's cool to bring your own food and chairs. I probably won't be back because it's way out of the way and expensive. However, if you live nearby, want to be a member, are stoned, a silver fox, OR want to impress someone from out of town, then this place might be perfect for you. Recommend for only some people who want this experience. It is not for everyone. read more

This hidden gem is worth searching for, with the bonus of a beautiful drive to the winery. The tasting room, in a barn-styled building, is perfect for the setting, with local arts and crafts featured inside. There seems to be four seating areas; a small one where the wine is poured (not sure if you can actually taste there, inside a large room in the barn, sharing space with barrels of aging wine, a small outside patio, and a dick up a flight of stairs from the patio. The view from the two last locations is restful and beautiful, overlooking a vineyard and Admiralty Inlet. We had stopped by a take-out diner on our way, and the server at Morrowstone was very gracious in allowing us to bring our food out to the patio. We got wine to pair with our meal; the owner joined us for a bit, and as noted in other reviews, he was very friendly. So was our server, who was also very helpful as we selected some wines to taste (I have a few notes at the end on my personal take on the wines if you are interested). One last note, live music will be every Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, starting June 19th. We are already making plans to return to this great little winery. Wine Notes I tasted the following: Grenache Yakima Valley 2018 My favorite! Great fruit, smooth tannins, not too acidic, and easy to love. Cabernet Franc Yakima Valley 2018 A very nice single-varietal expression of this grape so often used for blending. Medium bodied with a medium finish, very enjoyable. Cabernet Sauvignon Yakima Valley 2018 Not a monster Cab, but it has a nice mouthfeel, decent acidity, with Cab flavors right up front. "Milo Red" Blend Yakima Valley 2018 This is a complex blend of flavors, with 47% Cab Sav, 24% Merlot, 24% Petite Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cab Franc. I really liked this wine, but I really wanted to love it. I think this has some real potential given some more time in the bottle; the server said she feels it will only continue to improve for the next 6 - 36 months. Syrah Naches Heights 2018 I tasted this before reading the supplied tasting notes, and was quite surprised by chocolate on the finish. Not what I'd expect from a Syrah! There was also just a trace of smoke at the end, from the wildfires in the area that year. Petite Syrah Yakima Valley 2018 I have mixed feelings about Washington Syrah. I have had some that blow my mind with the intensity of their flavor; this one is more nuanced. Once again, I think this one would benefit from being laid down awhile to develop. So, I'm just an average guy who likes red wines. My palate is mine and mine alone, so don't necessarily take my word on these wines - I encourage you to come out and visit this wonderful winery. You won't regret it! read more

First time here and all I can say is WOW! The service was unbeatable. Our party of 5 were given a full set of tastings each, and our pick of the patio or amazing outdoor seating. I really liked the tasting sheet they have us to write down our tasting notes. It was encouraging and enjoyable to play sommelier. The view was to die for! The sound, with ships passing by, with a vineyard in the foreground and a large grass field. We even witnessed a proposal! I think people can bring their own food and enjoy a glass of their amazing Marrowstone wine. We met the owner, James. Such a nice guy. Passionate about wine but in a very down to earth way. He was clearly a hard worker. They also have a wine club we signed up for right away and they had great discounts with that club. I cannot wait to take my mom out here. It is a great COVID safe day trip for anyone getting out of Seattle. read more

This place is fine if you just want to drink wine on the deck. When you enter, they ask you if you want a glass or a flight. They bring it out to you with written information and you follow along. The staff is not particularly engaging or even interested in welcoming people or giving information about the winery or the varietals or any tasting notes. The wines were not special. read more

After a few sips, we knew we had to sign up for their wine club membership (and walked away with a couple bottles). They have amazing wines for all occasions and I look forward to every shipment. I loved this place! They offer a beautiful location overlooking the water with a great big deck. They had live fiddle and violin music from their 4th of July event, a local art gallery, local wood art for purchase, and a great wine selection with some purchases helping the Jefferson animal shelter! How sweet! Also it was a special occasion but they had a free chocolate pairing from the port Townsend chocolates which was an added treat! This is a lovely little vineyard on Marrowstone Island - fairly new - located in a renovated barn, with beautiful views of their vineyard and Admiral Ty Inlet just beyond. They are making great progress with 5 wines to taste (for $5), some delicious cheeses, and crackers for purchase. Most wines are white, except for their Barbera red and a Malbec on the way in February. (We ordered ahead.) Enjoyed viewing art from local artists, while tasting. We bought a bottle of their Pinot, and sat on the upper deck, enjoying the view. We so enjoyed our visit there and hope to come back to visit soon. read more

While I was vacationing in Washington state, I happened upon a delightful winery on Marrowstone Island called the Marrowstone Vineyards. I was warmly welcomed by the owner, James Holloway, who is a genial and knowledgeable vintner. The winery is nestled amidst rows of growing grapes with a spectacular view of Puget Sound. While I have always preferred white wines, I was treated to a taste of Syrah which was utterly sublime and instantly converted me to reds!! This Syrah will be available for bottling in April, 2018.
