She loved the wines at HHC, which is honorable, but not incredibly helpful. All the wines available for the tastings this Sunday were ok, but their big reds were not part of it. She said they weren't able to open any for tasting since the weekend was over, which is too bad. Other wineries like Wedge Mountain do this same thing, which I fail to understand. We stated we like big reds and are members of two other wineries on the island. Seems to me worth taking a chance on a customer that makes a jaunt a couple times a year and spends money on club wines, expressing a desire for what the winery has dubbed their flagship offerings. The pods and outdoor heaters are very nice, the grounds are attractive, we just didn't care for the lighter reds, blends, and whites we were offered. We did buy a bottle of one decent blend at full price, and they didn't comp or reduce the price of even one tasting. Fine, if that's the policy, but it won't bring us back.

But the space is also very well kept and designed, with the garden tasting area like a fantasy space with the lights and flowers. The people at the counter is super friendly, and the wine was pretty nice two. Ended up getting two bottles to take home. I can see this place being busy on weekends, I was lucky to go on a weekday and just as they opened at 2 p.m. If you're a big group you can make reservations.

I already submitted the name change, business hours and website to Yelp to change so hopefully all of that is pushed through. I could just have reported that the business was closed that was here before but on social media it seems like Social Fabric was using the Discovery Bay accounts so I figured I's submit changes instead since that was the pattern I was seeing. As I have said I felt like the beer has improved and I had Social Fabric Brewing earlier in the summer at a taphouse in Port Angeles and when we heard that the brewery was opening their own taproom we decided to proceed and make a trip here as soon as Social Fabric was in operation. Now, onto the beer! I had a very nice Baltic Porter here called Mid Dark Energy which I really enjoyed with it's roastiness flavor profile to match up with the nippy weather we were experiencing. They also had some pretty creative beers on tap that we got tastes of like the PB & Jansport which was like a Peanut butter and jelly beer which I do like to sample when I see one and then the had the Pumpkin Beans which was a pumpkin beer that was very good also. Definitely a fun brewery to try and I walked away quite satisfied with the brewery that has taken over the helm at this location.

We just had one beer, I don't recall what exactly but I am sure it was tasty. What I liked most about this place is that they had food available, including vegan hot dogs. The price was very reasonable, only 5$ and it came with chips. It took 15 minutes or so, but usually when you are having a beer you are not in a rush. I appreciate that he came out with the basket of chips and you got to pick which kind you wanted. I also like that he brought out a condiment basket which included dill relish.

I was expecting to be approached at any moment by someone wanting to engage me in a sale, but the owner was so cool just politely telling us to please look around and ask any questions if we have them. I really loved how low stress and good vibes this shop was as I spent a good 10-15 minutes just browsing how beautiful this shop was and orienting myself to everything in there. Thanks to Joe's website, we walked in with a list of stuff were looking for. Eventually because there was so much in there, eventually we just asked him to help us find the stuff on our list. He was so cool patiently taking us through the sections of his store we were interested in and helping us to find the different things on our list. Really great energy and within a few moments both my wife and I were loving talking to him about everything wine. We walked out of Joe's shop with some great purchases and we had a lot of fun in there and learned a lot about wine. If you're in the area, you should definitely pop in and check this shop out. The property is in a quiet location, and the fact that it is a working winery as well is unique. It is located just minutes from Langley which is one of our favorite small towns to visit. The property is pastoral and the modern building nestles into the setting well. The rooms are clean, tastefully appointed, and very comfortable. The room we were in was spacious and had plenty of storage and open area. The custom bed frames and headboards really added to the spacious room feel. The common kitchen area is well set up, and the common reading/living room is inviting. We had a view that looked across to Clinton and south Everett. We understood there was a simple breakfast, but wow! We got homemade granola with yogurt and toasted homemade apricot/walnut bread with an apple/pear/fig side salad. We were having battery problems with our vehicle - requiring an overnight battery charge, and finally a jump-start. They were very helpful and made sure we got jumped so we could get over to Les Schwab and get a new battery. This place is our best place to stay in the area! We will go out of our way to get here.
