The meadery is a quirky, welcoming, family-friendly spot and for this event they featured live music, cosplay (sword fighting in full armor) and fire dancing, along with food vendors. They have picnic grounds, a great taproom, and plenty of mead flavors. Bring your own food, because they don't serve food, only drink here, typically. Or visit during a special event, when they'll have outside vendors as guests and food available. For Summer Solstice they had Whidbey Pies (known for strawberry rhubarb, marrionberry and cherry pies) and a local wood-fired pizza maker. A hierophant is a guide to sacred mysteries, which feels like the perfect name for a spot prepared to introduce you to the mysteries of mead. Lots of sunny and shaded outdoor seating with some on a patio and some out on the lawn with picnic tables, or inside the building. This is only the second meadery I've been to, and I feel like their flavors are much lighter, without any that I tried leaning towards the sweet dessert style mead. They have flat and bubbly options, as well as some really cool flavors. They have preset flights but on certain days you can create your own, so that's what I did! I personally really liked the spiced apple, PNW chai, and the hopped meadjito was my favorite! They don't make food but they do have a fridge with some items to make mini charcuterie boards! I found out that they sell their products at pcc's and metropolitan markets so I'm excited to grab some more from there!

We had a tasting of their delicious whiskey and liquors. All of them were outstanding: raspberry, blackberry regular and with orange peel and loganberry. Service is amazing, of course it's a small place so owners and the makers of the stuff are serving you as well. After the tasting, we proceeded to have cocktails in their back patio which also has live music 2-4 pm on weekends. We actually came back for the live music and listened to lovely singer in their patio while sipping cocktails. But the space is also very well kept and designed, with the garden tasting area like a fantasy space with the lights and flowers. The people at the counter is super friendly, and the wine was pretty nice two. Ended up getting two bottles to take home. I can see this place being busy on weekends, I was lucky to go on a weekday and just as they opened at 2 p.m. If you're a big group you can make reservations.

I had Crossed Arrows Brewery's beer a while back. At the time it looked like they were planning to…read moreopen a taproom in Gig Harbor. It was as it often is like watching a pot and waiting for the water in it to boil as far as anticipating a new brewery to open. But as time passed I got distracted by other things. It appears now they have moved their operations to the Oak Harbor area on Whidby Island. I saw no announcement that a taproom was open but as before as when they looked like they may open a tasting room in Gig Harbor the best thing to do to try their beers is to look at their Facebook page or website for where they have their beer as a guest tap. A while back I had two of their beers at the Narrows Airport at the restaurant there. They were both IPA's but different from each other and pretty enjoyable. This was a great location for them to have had their beer on tap as you could enjoy the airplanes take off and fly in. I wish them well and success for them in Oak Harbor.

The beertender here was awesome and we had some great conversation here with him. The atmosphere is fun as so much of it is ogre themed which gives the whole place a fun, quirky vibe. I got the Bit-O-Lemon beer which I highly enjoyed. I also bought a t shirt here with an ogre to make the experience even more complete. Lol One thing to know is that the brewery does not accept credit or debit cards so be sure and bring cash. And if you happen to forget, no sweat... a convenience store is right across the street with an ATM. Such a fun brewery! Looking forward to coming back for their creative beers!
