The awesome Rose Cardamom Mead from Hierophant Meadery!
Alden C.

Wow, was this an amazing stop we made on our last visit to Whidby Island! The tasting room is great and there were so many great mead options that were available here. We saw so many great choices we decided to go with a taster set. And I am so glad that we did because each of those meads were amazing! The Butterbee was one we had which had a honey, vanilla flavor. The Spiced Apple was so good with elements of cinnamon, ginger, clove, anise, nettle and more. The Hopped Mead was another good one with the earthiness and hoppiness at play. The Raspberry Session was another one of Steve's choice. It had a great Raspberry presence. The Ginger Peach Session Mead was another good one. I do love ginger! The Pacific Northwest Chai was another great mead... everything you'd expect out of a Chai. We had a few others in that taster set but those really stood out to me with what I listed above. We took a bottle of Mead home as well. The Rose Cardamom Mead is what we took home with us. Once again a highly excellent mead with floral, herbal, sweet, subtle and dry flavor characteristics that were wonderful. High, high praise I'm giving this meadery. Most of the meaderies I have been to I give high praise for and this one is definitely worthy of the five stars!

Wow! What a cool little spot. My friend boyfriend had us do a stop here since they just moved here. And it was great! The mead I tried was delicious and I even went back and bought the bottle and a bottle of the ginger pear. They got a flight that was really tasty. And the workers were so knowledgeable and nice. Definitely a place to stop and try! I'm visiting from CA and so glad we stopped.

We stopped by their booth at Pike Place Market located across the street from Starbucks. We sampled their standard mead (I believe the Chrysopoeia Traditional off-dry Mead) as well as the Apotheke Session Mead. Both were delicious without being overly sweet like meads we've tried before. The person we worked with was well versed and educated us about the products.

We had a wonderful experience here! The mead is great, and the outdoor ambience is fantastic. There's nothing better than some good mead in the PNW fall weather. Lovely staff as well! If you haven't tried mead, give it a try! If you are a mead connoisseur, then still give it a try!

Great service, unique ciders. Wonderful combination of herbs and ingredients most cider do not have. It was hard to choose which ones we wanted to take home.

I have never been to a meadery before but I was charmed - it's a great, laid-back addition to Whidbey's local stops. The location is nice - just off 20 but far back enough you don't hear the traffic. There are two separate outdoor areas - one more patio-ish and one more yard-ish - which was great as we had our herding dog with us that loves nothing more than to herd little girls and there was a family with several of them running around in the other area. The server was very friendly and informative - I can only remember even trying mead twice before but she did a great job of explaining the different flavors and styles and why things were selected for the tasting tray and what order to taste them in. Tasting tray was in a cute honeycomb style pattern and there were eight pours. We tried them all and found we liked the sparkling, lighter session style meads a lot more than the straight-up meads. After the tasting tray we got pints of the chai and cherry meads. It's funny saying this but I might have been happy with a 10 or 13 ounce pour option too. We got some to go too - all in all a very enjoyable experience!

It was a cold, rainy day on the island, but I'm glad we took the time to stop by the meadery. The fire was stacked high, the mead flight was full of delicious and interesting meads and the staff were super friendly. Rain or shine, you should stop by and see what they're serving next!

I started with a pineapple margarita which was tasty and had a smoky Tajín rim which was a nice surprise. We indulged in the crab cakes which were very flavorful and crispy with a fantastic remoulade. These were easily my favorite item and I could have eaten 5 more orders. The squeeze of lemon was delightful and brought all the flavors together beautifully. The main dish of seafood risotto was delicious as well and incredibly flavorful. I enjoyed the oil/sauce the meal was served on and every bite was fantastic. My only disappointment was the size of the entrees as they were small portions. The burger was also fantastic although the size was on the smaller side and there were not a lot of potato wedges included. Overall I loved this place and the service was great. The atmosphere was lively as they had live music playing which was a nice touch. I'm excited to try more dishes from this cute little restaurant.

I was very impressed with the town and really liked Greenbank Cidery which was in the heart of downtown. For one the tasting room for Greenbank is wonderful! The tasting room has a pleasant wooded and sleek look to it but the main draw are all the magnificent views you get here at the taproom. So definitely don't be in a rush when you come here and admire that view from the windows of the water! The cider is equally great! I had the Hi Boy Dry which was a dry cider... as the name implies and it was perfection! It had a great flavor of apple as it should but it wasn't too sweet or anything of the sort and was just sheer perfection. Such a great experience coming to Greenbank Cider and I will definitely pencil it in on a return visit to the island!

It's easy to drive right past (and we did the first time), but we found the small turn up the driveway coming back the other way. They have the signage out there, we just needed to slow down and get on island time. Cute place with an aviation theme based on the owner's work as a fighter pilot. Thanks for your service. The lady working the tasting area was very kind, but not very knowledgeable about their offerings, nor was she able to steer us in any direction based on our preferred taste profiles. She loved the wines at HHC, which is honorable, but not incredibly helpful. All the wines available for the tastings this Sunday were ok, but their big reds were not part of it. She said they weren't able to open any for tasting since the weekend was over, which is too bad. Other wineries like Wedge Mountain do this same thing, which I fail to understand. We stated we like big reds and are members of two other wineries on the island. Seems to me worth taking a chance on a customer that makes a jaunt a couple times a year and spends money on club wines, expressing a desire for what the winery has dubbed their flagship offerings. The pods and outdoor heaters are very nice, the grounds are attractive, we just didn't care for the lighter reds, blends, and whites we were offered. We did buy a bottle of one decent blend at full price, and they didn't comp or reduce the price of even one tasting. Fine, if that's the policy, but it won't bring us back.

Kind service, lovely staff and views. I was pleasantly impressed with the wine selectionread more
